Build an AI portfolio that gets you hired

The externship experience gave me hands-on exposure to real-world investment analysis and sharpened how I present financial insights at a professional level. The company and I stayed in contact and I was later offered the opportunity to join the team and I took it.

In my Capital One interview, they asked what I was doing to grow professionally, and I immediately drew back on my externship experience. Everyone wants you to have experience before you can even get an internship, and Extern was what helped me break through that barrier.

The project felt real, practical, useful, and using AI made things easier to understand. Overall, it was a good experience that showed me how things actually work.

I love how Extern guides their externs. They're there with you every step of the way. It’s very beginner friendly and it’s also interactive learning that meets you where you're at.

I really enjoyed this experience. It was flexible, which made it easier to focused on school, work, and do the externship. I got to meet people (networking). I also like that the meeting were recorded, so I could look back when I couldn't make it to the actual meetings.

Conducting market research, analyzing real consumer data, and then turning those insights into a strategic product recommendations gave me confidence. It showed me what a business project really looks like and how it all comes together.

The externship taught me a lot about Venture Capital and the process of selecting, doing due diligence, and creating an investment memo for a startup. This Externship taught me a lot of skills that I can use later in my career.

Overall it was a great experience and great way to learn new skills. They really take the time to guide you and when you're learning new skills, you're also learning about the tools which is huge.

My Master’s program is more transactional. You do the assignments, you learn the theory, but Extern helped me see how to actually use those skills in a business context.
