Skyworks has 120 US student requisitions open right now across 11 sites, from Irvine and Newbury Park, California to Austin, Texas, Andover, Massachusetts and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Its own postings state a typical US pay range of $29.00 to $49.00 an hour for engineering interns and $23.00 to $42.00 for non-engineering interns. The nearest start is the Winter/Spring 2027 co-op, which begins in January, so in plain words you can apply this fall for a co-op that starts in about two to three months, or for a summer 2027 internship that runs May to August. No application deadline is published. The jobs are on Skyworks' careers site, and this guide covers the US program only.
What Is a Skyworks Internship?
A Skyworks internship is a paid student role at Skyworks Solutions, the maker of analog and RF semiconductors that connect phones, cars and other wireless devices. Skyworks runs an Internship program (about three months, in summer) and a Co-Op program (six months, in winter/spring or summer/fall), and says all of them are paid. Most US reqs are engineering: circuit and RF design, device, test and packaging work. A smaller share cover data and AI, quality and reliability, supply chain and operations.

When Do Skyworks Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Skyworks runs three US student terms, so there is no single application season. Its open-requisition feed shows no US student reqs in July 2024 or on 20 July 2025, then 59 on 15 August 2025, 127 on 17 September 2025 and 86 on 3 December 2025 (archived captures of the feed). That puts the 2026-term wave between 20 July and 15 August 2025, about five months before a January start, and shows reqs coming down as the cycle runs. The current wave's first posting date isn't published on Skyworks' site, so we don't state one.
Open. Skyworks had 120 US student requisitions live on 26 October 2026: roughly 60 titled as Winter/Spring 2027 co-ops, about 30 as Summer/Fall 2027 co-ops and 11 as summer interns, with the rest naming no term in the title. Apply to a specific site and team.
Interviews and offers. Skyworks doesn't publish its stages. A Reddit poster who did an RFIC co-op in spring 2025 described a technical interview on S-parameters, the Smith chart and impedance matching.
Expected: Winter/Spring 2027 co-ops start (January to June). One req says to be available to work onsite in Irvine from January.
Expected: summer 2027 internships run about three months; Summer/Fall co-ops run June to December. Skyworks says interns may qualify for a housing stipend and transportation allowance.
Expected: requisitions for 2028 terms, based on the 2025 captures (none in July, 59 by 15 August). This rests on one documented cycle, so treat it as a medium-confidence estimate.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Skyworks publishes no deadline, so the case for applying now comes from its own data. The open-req feed fell from 127 US student reqs in September 2025 to 86 in December 2025, which shows requisitions coming down as teams fill them. The terms also stagger: the January co-op is only about two to three months away, and a team that needs someone then can't wait for a late applicant. Apply in the first few weeks, to the specific reqs that match your degree.
Which Skyworks Internship Programs Should You Target?
Skyworks groups student hiring into an internship and a co-op, across these kinds of work. Counts are US requisitions, sorted by title, so they're indicative.
| Program | Focus | Duration | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Circuit, RF, device, test and packaging engineering (about 80 reqs) | RFIC and RF module design, BAW filter development, power amplifier design, product test on ATE platforms, packaging | Co-op 6 months; internship about 3 months | Cadence, MATLAB, ADS, RF fundamentals, lab instruments |
| Data, AI, ML, software and automation (about 25 reqs) | Data engineering, AI engineering, AI-assisted device characterization, timing software | Co-op 6 months; internship about 3 months | Python, data pipelines, dashboards |
| Quality, reliability, yield and failure analysis (about 9 reqs) | Quality engineering, yield engineering, reliability | Co-op 6 months; internship about 3 months | Statistics, specifications, root-cause analysis |
| Supply chain, demand management and operations (about 4 reqs) | Operations co-ops and supply chain planning | Co-op 6 months | Excel, planning, communication |
| Defense and Space (Milpitas; overlaps the rows above) | Quality engineering intern and operations co-op supporting U.S. Government programs; U.S. Worker status required | Co-op 6 months; internship about 3 months | Quality systems, manufacturing operations |
Most of Skyworks' student hiring is technical, and business-side roles are a small slice. See Skyworks' University Relations page for fall campus events.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Skyworks sets baseline rules for every student role, and each req adds its own degree fit.
• Enrollment: current enrollment at an accredited institution in an associate's, bachelor's, master's, MBA or PhD program, returning to school after the assignment.
• Graduates: students who have already graduated won't be considered for internships or co-ops.
• Work authorization: legally authorized to work in the country of employment. Two Milpitas Defense and Space reqs require U.S. Worker status (typically citizenship or permanent residence) and exclude F-1 and J-1 students.
• Degree fit: set per req, for example electrical engineering for RF design roles, and a PhD for at least one BAW development co-op.
• GPA: none of the reqs we checked states a minimum.

Do You Need a Graduate Degree for an RF Role?
Not by Skyworks' rules, but the community picture is mixed. A former RFIC co-op said on Reddit that most RF interns they knew were in master's or PhD programs. Cedar Rapids' RF Module Design Intern req asks for an electrical engineering BS or MS, so undergraduates do get in. Treat the graduate-degree trend as one person's observation, and read each req.

What Skills Does Skyworks Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
We read seven full reqs from six cities and skimmed the rest, and the templates repeat across sites, so we don't chart skill percentages. What recurs: Cadence (Virtuoso and Spectre), ADS and MATLAB for design; Python and C/C++ for test and automation; lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, network and spectrum analyzers; RF fundamentals like impedance matching and S-parameters; and ATE test platforms for product test. Data and AI roles add dashboards and knowledge-discovery tools.
Note: Skyworks' reqs repeat the same templates across sites, so a frequency chart would overstate any single skill. We read seven in full. Source: Skyworks' open-requisition feed, 26 October 2026.
How Is Demand for Electrical Engineering Interns Moving Right Now?

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each row maps a task from Skyworks' reqs to a remote Externship. None teaches RF design, so these cover the data, operations and security sides of the work.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Test data, yield and SQL | Product Test Intern (Austin): ATE platforms, "data analysis, yield improvement" | Breaking Games SQL & Database Architecture |
| IoT, embedded systems and security | Firmware and cybersecurity co-op reqs; connected devices | Hydroficient Advanced: IoT Cyber Defense |
| Supply chain and demand management | Operations and demand-management co-op reqs | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Data analytics for quality and yield | Data Engineering and AI Engineering summer intern reqs | ARCeH Data Analytics, Health Outcomes |
None of these Externships is affiliated with Skyworks. Most run about 8 weeks, so one started in November can finish before a summer start.
What Is the Skyworks Application and Interview Process Like?
Skyworks doesn't publish its interview process, so these steps combine its site with community reports.
1. Pick a req. Search the Student function on the careers site and apply to the specific site and team. Reqs aren't interchangeable.
2. Check the term. Titles usually name the term, but 18 US reqs don't, and at least one title contradicts its own description, so read the body.
3. Interview. A Reddit poster who did an RFIC co-op in spring 2025 reported technical questions on S-parameters, the Smith chart, impedance matching, Q factor and transmission lines.
4. Expect volume at the full-time stage. A final-year master's candidate reported seven back-to-back on-site interviews at Irvine for a full-time role, which isn't the internship process.
5. Plan housing. Skyworks says a stipend and transportation allowance may be available, with conditions.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit has a few first-hand posts about Skyworks internships, from 2023 to 2025, mostly on r/rfelectronics. They're small samples.
A former Skyworks RFIC co-op (spring 2025) called the interview the hardest they'd had, covering S-parameters, the Smith chart, impedance matching, Q factor and EVM and IP3. They added that most RF interns they knew were in master's or PhD programs.
A three-month intern on the LNA team in Cedar Rapids said the workload ramped to 60 to 70 hours a week as design reviews and tape-outs approached, then eased afterward, with a lot of test-plan setup. A later commenter with a Cedar Rapids offer asked about relocation help.
In a 2023 thread, a student rejected for an RF internship was told the team probably wanted someone further along. One commenter claimed Skyworks hires by school and recruiter contact. That's unverified, and Skyworks does list fall campus fairs.
How Do You Stand Out for a Skyworks Internship?
First, match the req: the RF and circuit roles want electrical engineering coursework, and some co-ops want a graduate student. Second, show hands-on RF or circuit work, such as a simulated LNA in ADS or a board you built and measured on a spectrum analyzer. Third, be ready for fundamentals questions on impedance matching and S-parameters. Skyworks also lists fall recruiting at schools such as Texas A&M, UT Austin and UC Irvine, so meet the team there. It publishes no applicant counts or conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Skyworks internship?
No, the summer 2026 internships have ended. Skyworks is now hiring for Winter/Spring 2027 co-ops starting in January, summer 2027 internships running May to August, and Summer/Fall 2027 co-ops running June to December. All are posted on its careers site with no published deadline.
When should I apply to Skyworks?
Now. The reqs for all three terms are open, and the January co-op starts in about two to three months. Skyworks publishes no deadline, and its open-req feed shrank from 127 US student reqs in September 2025 to 86 in December, so apply in the first few weeks.
How much does Skyworks pay interns?
Skyworks' reqs state a typical US range of $29.00 to $49.00 an hour for engineering interns and $23.00 to $42.00 for non-engineering interns, with a lower range of $26.00 to $47.50 in some Austin and Massachusetts reqs. Starting pay depends on education, duties and work location.
What is the difference between a Skyworks internship and a co-op?
Skyworks defines an internship in the US as about three months, usually the summer. A co-op is a six-month term, either January to June or June to December, for a student who takes a semester off. Both are paid. The co-op is the longer, more project-heavy option.
Where are Skyworks' US internships?
The 120 US student reqs sit in Irvine, Newbury Park, San Jose and Milpitas in California, Austin in Texas, Andover, Woburn in Massachusetts, Cedar Rapids in Iowa, Hillsboro in Oregon, Nashua in New Hampshire and Greensboro in North Carolina. Irvine has the most, with 35.
Do I need to be an engineering student?
Most reqs are engineering, but not all. Skyworks says departments hiring students include IT, operations and manufacturing, supply chain, sales and marketing, and corporate roles. In practice, business-side reqs are a small slice, and data, AI and automation roles make up about a fifth of the US list.
Can international students apply to Skyworks?
Most reqs need legal authorization to work in the US. Two Milpitas Defense and Space reqs require U.S. Worker status and exclude students on F-1 or J-1 visas. Skyworks encourages those students to look at its other internships, so check each req's wording before applying.
Does Skyworks offer full-time jobs after an internship?
Skyworks doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its University Relations page features former interns who became employees at several sites, which shows people do return, but it doesn't say how many. Ask your manager early about return offers, especially on a six-month co-op.
Skyworks has 120 US student reqs open now across three terms, so apply while they're live. To walk in with a finished project on your resume, a remote Externship can run alongside your application.
