The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has 25 summer 2027 intern roles open on its Workday board, and every one of them closes within eight days. Ten end on Tuesday 20 October 2026, one on Friday 23 October and fourteen on Saturday 24 October, according to the end date on each requisition we checked on 16 October. The program runs 10 to 12 weeks from mid-to-late May 2027, about seven months after the roles went up. In plain words: you apply in October 2026, you intern in summer 2027.

The Bank's internship page says it considers applications until positions are filled, but the end dates are the only cutoff we can verify, so treat them as final. If you miss them, the next undergraduate window is for summer 2028, expected to open in fall 2027.

As of 16 October 2026, 25 Dallas Fed summer-2027 intern requisitions are open, with end dates of 20, 23 and 24 October 2026.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks (range 4–11) at 5 to 10 hours a week. They can't be completed before these roles close, so use them to prepare for interviews or the next cycle: the Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis Externship builds the financial analysis the supervision roles describe, and the Center for Improving Youth Justice Data Analytics Externship gives you public-sector data work to talk about. What Is a Dallas Fed Internship?

A Dallas Fed internship is a paid, full-time summer placement of about 10 to 12 weeks in one department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, such as banking supervision, economic research, community development, audit, legal, technology or cash services. Interns join one cohort with a staff mentor and learning events with senior leaders.

The Dallas Fed is one of the Federal Reserve System's regional Reserve Banks, with offices in Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio. This guide covers the Dallas Fed only; the Federal Reserve Board in Washington and the other Reserve Banks run separate programs on their own calendars.

When Do Dallas Fed Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

These dates come from the Dallas Fed itself. Its internship page says postings open in the fall for positions starting the following summer. The 25 summer-2027 requisitions were posted between 2 and 15 October 2026 (Workday start dates, which are posting dates, not a separate public launch), and each carries an end date of 20, 23 or 24 October.

The Bank's last cycle isn't documented as precisely. A university career blog was still pointing students to a summer-2026 Research Intern requisition on 19 November 2025, and that requisition has since closed, but we couldn't recover its original posting and closing dates. For that reason, treat summer 2028 as low confidence: applications are expected to post in fall 2027, and the Bank's own page is the source to watch.

Summer 2027 applications are open for all 25 roles and none has closed yet. Pick the roles that fit your year and major, and apply to each one separately on Workday before its end date.

These roles close within days, so apply first. To strengthen a later interview or a summer-2028 application, the Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis Externship builds financial analysis and the TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics Externship builds Excel-based reporting.

Strategic Risk Management ends Friday 23 October. The other 14 roles end Saturday 24 October, including Community Banking Organizations (Dallas and Houston), Community Development, Consumer Affairs, Integrated Policy and the three other technology roles.

Late October 2026 onward

After a requisition closes, the Bank's process is a phone screen with talent acquisition, then a video interview with the department hiring team. Dates for these steps aren't published. Supervision roles also require an enhanced background check.

Summer 2027

About 10 to 12 weeks from mid-to-late May to August, on site. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to post in fall 2027 (low confidence, since last cycle's dates aren't documented).

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

The Dallas Fed's page and its postings point in different directions. The page says it considers applications until positions are filled and encourages candidates to apply early. Each requisition, though, carries an end date within eight days of today. Since only one of those is verifiable on the job record itself, go by the end dates and submit this week.

Because each department posts its own requisition, a strong application is tailored to one team's duties. Pick your top two or three roles now and finish them in order of end date, starting with the 20 October group.

Which Dallas Fed Internship Programs Should You Target?

You apply to a department, not to the Bank as a whole. The 25 summer-2027 requisitions group into five functions, with end dates in October 2026:

All of these are paid, full-time summer roles; see the Dallas Fed internship page for the program overview and the Workday board for every requisition.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The Bank sets a program-wide floor, and individual requisitions add to it:

• Enrollment: currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university, with a current resume. The Bank says it hires students from schools across the country.

• GPA: at least 3.0 for the program; the Economic Research role asks for 3.5 or higher and requires transcripts.

• Class year: several supervision roles want a student entering junior or senior year; the Legal role needs a law student who has finished two years; the Research Archives role needs a library science master's student.

• Hours: 40 hours a week for the whole internship, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on site.

• Work authorization: 17 of the 25 requisitions say applicants must be eligible to work in the US and that the role isn't available for sponsorship. The other 8, mostly supervision roles, limit access to confidential supervisory information to "Protected Individuals" and require an enhanced background check.

Can International Students Apply?

For most roles, no. Seventeen requisitions rule out sponsorship, and the eight supervision-type roles are limited to US citizens, US nationals and certain permanent residents who sign a declaration of intent to become citizens.

The PhD Dissertation Fellow requisition is the exception: it's open to PhD students at institutions worldwide, both domestic and international. Read the work-authorization paragraph on the exact requisition before you apply.

What Skills Does the Dallas Fed Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Communication shows up in 20 of the 25 requisitions, Excel in 13 and analytical skills in 11. The technical bar depends on the department: Economic Research asks for basic programming in Stata, R, Python or Matlab and an understanding of econometric techniques, while Statistics lists SQL, R, Python or SAS as a plus. Supervision roles care more about accounting, audit or banking experience and an understanding of the Federal Reserve and commercial banking.

Several roles are open to students outside economics, including HR, library science, law, IT and communications.

What Is the Dallas Fed Application and Interview Process Like?

The Dallas Fed's internship page describes a short process, and the requisitions add the screening details:

1. Apply on Workday. Each department is its own requisition on the Federal Reserve System Careers site, filtered to the Dallas Fed.

2. Phone screen. The talent acquisition team calls first.

3. Video interview. The department hiring team interviews you by video.

4. Extra documents. Economic Research requires transcripts; supervision roles require an enhanced background check.

5. Summer program. About 10 to 12 weeks from mid-to-late May, with a mentor and cohort programming.

The Bank doesn't publish interview dates or offer timing, so keep your phone available after the end date passes.

What the Community Says

We found no first-hand account of the Dallas Fed intern process we could verify. The only Dallas Fed intern post we read was a one-line r/internships question with no replies, so this guide relies on the Bank's own requisitions and internship page instead.

How Do You Stand Out for a Dallas Fed Internship?

Three moves, based on how the postings are written.

First, apply to a department, not to "the Fed". Read the duties for your top roles and mirror them: financial analysis and exam work for supervision, economic variables and econometrics for Economic Research, public policy and municipal research for Community Development.

Second, show you understand the Federal Reserve. Several supervision postings ask for an understanding of the Federal Reserve and commercial banking, so be ready to explain what a regional Reserve Bank does.

Third, apply broadly within your fit. The Bank hires from schools across the country, so you don't need a Texas address. The Dallas Fed doesn't publish class sizes or an acceptance rate, so there's no figure to quote.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Dallas Fed internship?

No. Summer 2026 is over, and that cycle's requisitions are no longer open on Workday. Summer 2027 applications are open now, with end dates of 20, 23 and 24 October 2026. If you miss them, the next window is for summer 2028, expected to post in fall 2027.

When do Dallas Fed internship applications close?

Each summer 2027 requisition shows an end date of 20, 23 or 24 October 2026: ten roles on the 20th, one on the 23rd and fourteen on the 24th. The Bank's page says it considers applications until positions are filled, but go by the end date on the role you want.

Are Dallas Fed internships paid?

Yes. The Bank describes its internships as paid and full time, with "competitive intern salaries". It doesn't publish a dollar figure on the internship page or in any of the 25 requisitions, so don't rely on third-party estimates. Interns also get free parking, transit passes and an on-site fitness center.

What GPA do you need for a Dallas Fed internship?

The program requires a minimum 3.0 GPA, per the Dallas Fed internship page. The Economic Research role asks for 3.5 or higher and requires a copy of your transcripts. The page also lists a current resume and the ability to work 40 hours a week throughout the internship.

Can international students apply for a Dallas Fed internship?

For most roles, no. Seventeen of the 25 requisitions say the role isn't available for sponsorship, and eight supervision-type roles are limited to Protected Individuals under US immigration law. The PhD Dissertation Fellow role is open to international PhD students at the dissertation stage, so check each requisition.

Where is the Dallas Fed internship and how long does it last?

It runs about 10 to 12 weeks, starting mid-to-late May 2027 and ending in August, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The roles are on site. Most are in Dallas, and several sit in Houston. No remote option is stated in the requisitions.

What is the Dallas Fed interview process like?

The Bank's internship page describes a phone screen with the talent acquisition team, followed by a video interview with the department hiring team. Supervision roles also require an enhanced background check, and Economic Research requires transcripts. The Dallas Fed doesn't publish interview dates or when offers go out.

Does a Dallas Fed internship lead to a full-time job?

Not automatically. The requisitions say participation in the program "does not guarantee future employment", and the Bank publishes no conversion rate. Interns do build a mentor relationship and a cohort network across the Federal Reserve System, which helps when you apply for full-time roles.

If you can't apply before 24 October, you still have most of a year to build proof for the next window. A remote Externship in financial analysis, data or risk gives your summer-2028 application a finished project to point to.
