WilkinGuttenplan posts its winter and summer internships together in mid-August and takes them down within weeks. The 2027 internships are closed. The firm posted them on August 17, 2026, and a job-board copy of the winter audit posting shows applications closed by October 7, 2026. On October 12, 2026, the firm's Workable board listed four openings and none was an internship. The next wave, for winter 2028 and summer 2028, is expected in mid-August 2027.

In plain words: you apply in August or September 2027, then intern in winter 2028 (mid-January into spring) or summer 2028 (June to mid-August). It's a small program with a big ranking: No. 4 among accounting internships in Vault's 2026 rankings, three days a week, hybrid, and $28.00 an hour on this cycle's closed postings.

What Is a WilkinGuttenplan Internship?

A WilkinGuttenplan internship is a paid, part-time accounting internship at WilkinGuttenplan (Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C.), a mid-sized CPA and advisory firm established in 1983 with offices in East Brunswick, New Jersey and New York City. Interns work three full days a week, in the East Brunswick office or remotely, in a winter cohort (audit or tax) or a summer cohort that combines audit and tax. In Vault's 2026 internship rankings, the program is No. 4 among the Best Accounting Internships, No. 4 for quality of life and No. 10 on the 150 Best Internships list. Vault's profile lists 10 to 20 interns. The firm is an independent member of the BDO Alliance USA, and its internships page promises a training program, mentoring and "on-the-job experience in both audit and tax."

When Do WilkinGuttenplan Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

WilkinGuttenplan recruits both cohorts in one wave. A job-board copy of the winter 2027 audit posting gives a posted date of August 17, 2026 and says applications closed on October 7, 2026; the firm's internships page listed the summer 2027 internship alongside it. That's about five months before the mid-January winter start and about ten months before the June summer start, and about seven weeks on the board with no stated deadline. So applications for winter 2028 and summer 2028 are expected to open in mid-August 2027 and to be gone by early October 2027. One caution: a job-board copy of the prior cycle's winter tax posting showed an apply-by date in December 2025. That may be the board's own expiry date, so we can't say how long last year's window ran.

Now · mid-October 2026YOU ARE HERE

Applications for winter 2027 and summer 2027 are closed. All three postings are offline, and the firm's Workable board lists four openings with no internship among them. The next wave is about ten months away.

Use the gap: the Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship or the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship gives you a finished project to talk about before the mid-August postings.

Mid-August 2027EXPECTEDSHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

Applications for winter 2028 and summer 2028 are expected to open together. This cycle's postings went up on August 17, 2026. Summer applicants apply in this same window, about ten months before they start.

September to early October 2027EXPECTED

Interviews for winter 2028 and summer 2028: an HR phone interview, then an online interview with an associate and a supervisor, going by intern accounts. Expect the postings to come down by early October.

January to August 2028

The winter 2028 cohort runs from mid-January into spring, and the summer 2028 cohort runs from June to mid-August. Both are three days a week, in the East Brunswick office or remote.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

WilkinGuttenplan's window is short and unannounced. This cycle's postings carried no deadline. They went up on August 17, 2026 and were offline by October 7, about seven weeks later, and Vault lists only 10 to 20 interns for the program. Two things make that tighter than it sounds. Summer applicants apply in August too. The summer 2027 internship was posted alongside the winter ones, roughly ten months before its June start, so a student who waits until spring to look for a summer seat will find nothing. Vault's profile says applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and the firm's own page still shows an "Apply Today" button over dead links. Neither matches what the board showed. For winter 2028 and summer 2028, plan to apply in the first week the postings appear.

Which WilkinGuttenplan Internship Programs Should You Target?

WilkinGuttenplan posted three internships this cycle, two for winter and one for summer. All three are closed; the same lineup is the best guide to 2028.

When the next wave opens it'll be on the Workable board, linked from the firm's internships page. The board's current "Seasonal Part-Time Audit Associate" opening is a role for experienced hires, not a student internship. Every intern posting we found was for East Brunswick; none was for the New York City office.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These come from the closed winter 2027 audit posting, the firm's internships page and Vault's profile:

• Class year: "Current college junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting."

• Major: the internships page asks for "a declared accounting major."

• Experience: "No experience is necessary, just a strong desire to experience life in a CPA firm."

• Availability: three full days a week, 9am to 5pm, for the whole term.

• Skills: Microsoft Office, interpersonal skills and a strong academic record in accounting.

• International students: Vault's profile lists them as not eligible. The posting we read didn't address work authorization, so confirm with the recruiter.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at WilkinGuttenplan?

The posting names no number. It asks for "a strong academic track record," and Vault's profile of the program lists a minimum GPA of 3.00 to 3.49, so treat a 3.0 as the working floor. The firmer requirements are the ones about time: junior or senior standing, an accounting major, and three full weekdays free for the whole term. If your class schedule can't give up three days, this internship won't fit that semester.

What Skills Does WilkinGuttenplan Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

WilkinGuttenplan's postings ask for less than most, because the program is built to train you. The stated needs are junior or senior standing in accounting, three free days a week, Microsoft Office, interpersonal skills and a strong academic record. The work is where the skills show up. The winter audit posting has interns "conduct audits, reviews, and compilations" alongside staff, "analyze financial data, identify trends," and help prepare financial statements. The firm's internships page lists training in accounting software, audit procedures and work papers, financial statement preparation, and tax extension and return preparation. Interns in Vault's survey mention preparing 1120S and 1065 returns and working on 401(k) audits.

What Is the WilkinGuttenplan Application and Interview Process Like?

WilkinGuttenplan doesn't publish its hiring steps. This sequence comes from the firm's pages and from interns' accounts in Vault's survey:

1. Apply online. When postings are live, they sit on the firm's Workable board and are linked from its internships page.

2. Phone interview with HR. One intern described "a phone interview with the HR department."

3. Online interview. The same intern then had an online interview with an associate and a supervisor, and said the questions were meant to get to know you and felt like a conversation.

4. Offer. Timing isn't published.

Another intern called the interview low-pressure, with questions aimed at fit. The internships page shows a strip of the firm's most frequently visited campuses and tells students from other schools to get in touch. Our behavioral interview guide helps with a conversational round like this one.

What Interns Say on Vault

Reddit has no first-hand thread about interning at WilkinGuttenplan, so these cards come from intern reviews in Vault's survey of the program.

Interns said they worked three days a week and could be in the office or remote, with consistent hours. One called that the right amount for students just starting out in corporate life.

One intern prepared 1120S and 1065 returns and worked on 401(k) audits. Another supported both departments by reviewing financial statements, organizing workpapers and helping with audit procedures.

Interns said many of the people training them, including some partners, started as interns, and that the firm presents the internship as a fast track to an offer for those who work hard. One wasn't sure of the actual odds.

How Do You Stand Out for a WilkinGuttenplan Internship?

Three moves. First, set a reminder for the first week of August 2027. Both cohorts post together, the 2027 postings lasted about seven weeks, and Vault lists only 10 to 20 interns, so timing matters more than polish. Second, choose the cohort that matches what you want to test. Summer combines audit and tax in one internship. Winter splits them, and this cycle's winter audit seat sat in the condominiums and cooperatives practice. Third, prepare for a conversation, not a quiz. Interns describe interviews about fit, so be ready to say why a mid-sized firm and how you'll free up three full days a week. It's also fair to ask how work gets assigned, since reviewers say the workload varies by mentor. The firm publishes no applicant count or conversion rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2027 WilkinGuttenplan internship?

No. The summer 2027 internship was posted in August 2026 alongside two winter 2027 internships, and all three are offline. On October 12, 2026, the firm's Workable board listed four openings and none was an internship. The next wave, for winter 2028 and summer 2028, is expected in mid-August 2027.

When do WilkinGuttenplan internship applications open for summer 2028?

In mid-August 2027, we expect, at the same time as winter 2028. This cycle's postings went up on August 17, 2026, about ten months before the June summer start, and were offline by October 7. That's one dated cycle, so start checking the firm's Workable board at the beginning of August 2027.

Does WilkinGuttenplan hire interns on a rolling basis?

Not in practice. Vault's profile says applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but this cycle's postings were up for only about seven weeks, from August 17 to early October 2026, with no stated deadline. Winter and summer were posted together, so missing that window means missing both cohorts for the year.

How much does WilkinGuttenplan pay interns?

This cycle's closed postings stated $28.00 an hour. We read that in a full job-board copy of the winter 2027 audit posting, and only in search-result excerpts for the summer 2027 posting, so treat the summer figure with a little more caution. A copy of the prior cycle's winter tax posting listed $26.00.

What GPA do you need for a WilkinGuttenplan internship?

The posting names no GPA. It asks for a strong academic track record in accounting, and Vault's profile of the program lists a minimum of 3.00 to 3.49. You also need to be a college junior or senior with a declared accounting major, free for three full days a week.

Is the WilkinGuttenplan internship full-time or remote?

Neither. It's part-time and hybrid. The posting asks for three full days a week, 9am to 5pm, and interns in Vault's survey say they could spend those days in the East Brunswick, New Jersey office or work remotely. Vault lists the length as 6 to 12 weeks, with in-person events during the term.

What is the WilkinGuttenplan interview process like?

According to an intern review on Vault, there's a phone interview with HR, then an online interview with an associate and a supervisor. The reviewer said the questions were about getting to know you and felt like a conversation. Another called it low-pressure. The firm doesn't publish its own description of the steps.

Do WilkinGuttenplan interns get full-time offers?

The firm publishes no conversion rate. Vault ranks the program No. 27 for employment prospects in its 2026 internship rankings. Interns there say many current staff and some partners started as interns, and that the firm calls the internship a fast track to an offer, though one wasn't sure how many get one.

WilkinGuttenplan's next internships, for winter 2028 and summer 2028, are expected to post in mid-August 2027 and won't stay up long. Use the months before then: a remote Externship gives you a finished financial analysis project to bring to a conversational interview.
