Last updated: November 2026
Santander runs two US internship calendars, and they sit about nine months apart. The Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Summer Analyst Program in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco took applications for summer 2027 from January 4 to March 13, 2026, about 17 months before the internship. Santander's own Future Talents page lists the next CIB window, for summer 2028, as January to March 2027. In plain words: for CIB you apply this coming winter and intern in summer 2028.
The Santander US Corporate Internship Program (Boston, Quincy, Dallas, Miami and New York) is on the nearer calendar: applications for summer 2027 run from August 2026 to February 2027, and that cohort is the next open door if you want a Santander internship in summer 2027. Its postings come and go fast. On November 1, 2026, Santander's job board carried one live undergraduate internship, and at least five summer 2027 postings from October were already gone.
What Is a Santander Internship?
A Santander internship in the US is a 10-week summer program at either Santander's Corporate & Investment Banking business or Santander US, its American retail, commercial and consumer bank. The two run separately. Santander's internships page says the CIB program, the Santander US Corporate Functions program and the Wealth Management program "are separate in requirements, recruiting process, and timelines." CIB Summer Analysts join Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Markets (Sales & Trading) or Global Transaction Banking and start with a week of training, according to the CIB Summer Analyst program page. Corporate interns work in areas such as commercial banking, finance and accounting, and auto-lending strategy, and the Corporate Internship Program page says they spend three days a week in the office. Santander's parent, Banco Santander, is headquartered in Spain and runs separate internship programs in the UK, Spain, Brazil and elsewhere; this page covers the US programs only.

When Do Santander Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Santander publishes its own windows, which is unusual. For the CIB Summer Analyst Program, its program page gave January 4 to March 13, 2026 as the application dates for the summer 2027 class, and the 2027 Markets (Sales & Trading) posting set a February 2 deadline. Its Future Talents page now lists January to March 2027, which is the summer 2028 class, about 17 months ahead. Two recruiting trackers expect the first posting as early as December 2026. For the Corporate Internship Program, Santander listed August 2025 to February 28, 2026 last cycle and lists August 2026 to February 2027 for summer 2027. The October 2026 postings we tracked (Commercial in New York and Boston, Finance and Accounting in Boston and Miami) were off the board by November 1, and the live Dallas posting is scheduled to close November 6.
Mid-cycle. Corporate internships for summer 2027 are posting now, and most October postings have already closed: on November 1 the only live undergraduate one was the 2027 Auto Corporate Strategy & Development Summer Analyst Program in Dallas. CIB applications for summer 2028 aren't open yet; the main summer 2027 CIB window closed in March 2026.
Corporate Internship Program for summer 2027: Santander's stated window runs to February 2027. Expect more postings by function and city, each open for about one to two weeks. Check the board weekly and your school's Handshake.
CIB Summer Analyst applications for summer 2028 are expected: Santander lists January to March 2027, and trackers expect the first posting as early as December 2026. Last cycle ran January 4 to March 13, 2026, with a February 2 deadline on the Markets posting.
The Corporate Internship Program for students graduating in May or June 2028: 10 weeks, June to August, hybrid with three office days a week.
The CIB Summer Analyst Program: 10 weeks in New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco, starting with a week of training and ending with an end-of-summer evaluation. Santander publishes no return-offer rate.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Santander's internships run on a short window, not a rolling one. The 2027 Markets (Sales & Trading) summer analyst posting carried a hard date, "Application Deadline: Monday, February 2nd," weeks before the program-wide window closed on March 13. On the corporate side, the postings we checked were up for about one to two weeks: the Dallas Auto Corporate Strategy posting went up October 28, 2026 and is scheduled to come down November 6, and the Miami Finance and Accounting posting was taken down on October 29. Santander's overall windows (August to February, January to March) are long, but each posting inside them is not. Set a Workday job alert for the United States, check weekly through February 2027, and for CIB apply in the first week the summer 2028 postings appear.
Which Santander Internship Programs Should You Target?
Santander's US programs split into CIB and Santander US, and each posts by division and city.
| Program | Focus | Duration | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| CIB Summer Analyst Program (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco) | Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Markets (Sales & Trading), Global Transaction Banking. Summer 2028 window expected January to March 2027 | 10 weeks | Analytical and quantitative skills, communication, finance coursework, Microsoft Office |
| Corporate Internship Program (Boston, Quincy, Dallas, Miami, New York City) | Commercial banking, Finance & Accounting, Auto Strategy & Corporate Development, Operations and other functions. Summer 2027 window August 2026 to February 2027 | 10 weeks | Financial analysis, Excel modeling, forecasting, market research |
| Wealth Management & Insurance Summer Internship (Miami) | Wealth management for high-net-worth clients across Latin America. The summer 2027 posting went up in October 2026 and was off Santander's board by November 1 | Not stated in the 2027 posting | English and Spanish required, Portuguese preferred |
| CIB Summer Associate Program (MBA) | Investment banking for MBA students graduating in May or June 2028. Open now; the New York posting lists a November 13 deadline for non-core schools | 10 weeks | 3+ years of work experience, valuation, client work |
Postings titled "Full-Time Rotational Analyst" or "Full Time Analyst" are graduate jobs, not internships. Program descriptions are on Santander's Future Talents page, under the USA tab.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
These come from the six summer 2027 undergraduate postings we read (Markets, Global Transaction Banking, Commercial, Finance and Accounting, Auto Corporate Strategy, Wealth Management):
• Class year: undergraduates in a four-year program graduating in May or June 2028 for summer 2027, which means juniors next fall. For CIB summer 2028, expect the same wording shifted a year (graduation in 2029); that is our reading of the pattern, since those postings aren't up yet.
• GPA: "Cumulative GPA is 3.5 or above" appears in every one of the six postings.
• Major: finance, accounting, management or economics for Commercial and Finance and Accounting; finance, economics or mathematics for Auto Corporate Strategy. CIB lists finance, economics, accounting or business coursework as a plus.
• Work authorization: five of the six say applicants must be authorized to work in the US "without requiring employer sponsorship."
• Languages: the Miami Wealth Management internship requires English and Spanish. CIB postings call a foreign language a plus.

Is the 3.5 GPA a Hard Cutoff at Santander?
Treat it as one. The 3.5 sits under "What You Bring" in every 2027 undergraduate posting we read, not under the nice-to-have list, and the wording doesn't change between CIB and Santander US. Santander's global careers site talks about "degree neutrality," but that's group marketing copy; the US postings are what recruiters screen against. If you're below 3.5, a referral or an on-campus contact is a better bet than a cold application.

Which group is your school closest to?
Firms recruit on campus in tiers. We match you against admits from schools like yours.

Has any of that experience been finance-related?

What Skills Does Santander Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
The postings describe the work plainly. CIB Markets interns "help provide and analyze information needed to create the right solutions for our clients," and Global Transaction Banking interns get "direct exposure to clients on deposits, payment flows, origination, and restructuring." On the corporate side, the Dallas Auto team asks interns to "build financial analyses and models" and analyze market trends, Finance and Accounting interns work on "financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning," and Commercial interns do customer financial analysis, client onboarding and competitive benchmarking.

Method: full-text reading of six Santander summer 2027 undergraduate postings: Auto Corporate Strategy & Development, Dallas (live on Santander's board, November 1, 2026), and copies of the Markets (Sales & Trading), Global Transaction Banking, Finance and Accounting (Miami), Commercial (New York) and Wealth Management & Insurance (Miami) postings. Four of the six share Santander's standard wording, so the six-of-six rows partly reflect a common template.

For Santander applicants: Santander's global job board listed 962 roles on November 1, 2026, and only one was a US undergraduate internship. The CIB summer analyst postings for summer 2028 are expected from January 2027, so watch the board from December.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each Santander skill maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project to talk through in interviews.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial analysis and modeling | Auto Corporate Strategy posting: "build financial analyses and models" | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Budgeting, forecasting and capital planning | Finance and Accounting posting: "financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning" | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation |
| Market research and competitive benchmarking | Commercial posting: "market intelligence" and "competitive benchmarking" | Mangusta Capital Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
| Strategy work presented to leadership | Auto Corporate Strategy posting: "develop data-driven presentations for senior leadership" | Lean Startup Co. Corporate Strategy, mentored by Eric Ries |
The modeling and FP&A matches are the closest. None of these teaches bank-specific products like cash management, so pair one with reading on the division you're targeting.
What Is the Santander Application and Interview Process Like?
Santander doesn't publish its interview steps. Here's what its own pages state and what applicants reported:
1. Find the posting. Search Santander's Workday board for the United States and check your school's Handshake, where some summer 2027 postings appeared first.
2. Apply inside the posting's window. Corporate postings we tracked stayed up about one to two weeks; the 2027 Markets posting had a February 2 deadline.
3. Behavioral first rounds. A 2025 corporate Finance and Accounting applicant called the interview all behavioral: a resume walk-through and why banking. A risk intern applicant had 30 minutes with two panelists (community-reported on Reddit).
4. CIB final round. An investment banking applicant described a final round with another behavioral interview and a case study presentation; a reply expected a model and a short deck (community-reported, 2022).
5. The internship. CIB summer analysts start with a week-long training program and get mid- and end-of-summer performance evaluations, per Santander's program page.

What Students on Reddit Say
First-hand Reddit posts on Santander's US internships are few; these three describe interviews and pay.
An applicant for Santander's investment banking summer internship had a final round made up of another behavioral interview and a case study presentation. The top reply expected a model plus a deck of under ten slides.
A junior accepted a Finance and Accounting internship in Boston for summer 2025 at $30 an hour and noticed a Market Risk internship listed at $40. A later reply said the Finance and Accounting interview was all behavioral: resume and why banking.
A risk intern candidate had a 30-minute behavioral interview with two panelists. Replies suggested knowing basic risk measures such as value at risk and being able to talk about recent bank failures.
How Do You Stand Out for a Santander Internship?
Three moves. First, pick your Santander. CIB and Santander US recruit separately, on calendars about nine months apart, so a junior who waits for "fall recruiting" can miss both: the corporate postings close within weeks, and the CIB window for summer 2028 opens in winter of sophomore year for most students. Second, watch the board weekly, not seasonally. Set a Workday job alert filtered to the United States and check your school's Handshake, since several summer 2027 postings showed up there. Third, show the work the postings name. For Commercial and Finance and Accounting, bring a forecast or a customer financial analysis you built; for Auto Corporate Strategy, a short model and a recommendation deck; for CIB, be ready for a case study presentation. Spanish helps for the Miami Wealth Management internship, where it's required. Santander publishes no class size, acceptance rate or conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2027 Santander internship?
Yes, on the corporate side. Santander lists the summer 2027 Corporate Internship Program window as August 2026 to February 2027, and on November 1, 2026 the Dallas Auto Corporate Strategy posting was live. Most October postings had already closed. The main CIB summer analyst window for 2027 closed March 13, 2026.
When do Santander CIB summer analyst applications open for summer 2028?
Santander lists January to March 2027 on its Future Talents page, about 17 months before the internship. Last cycle ran January 4 to March 13, 2026. Two recruiting trackers expect the first posting as early as December 2026, so start checking the board in early December.
Does Santander hire interns on a rolling basis?
No. Each posting has a short window. The 2027 Markets summer analyst posting had a February 2, 2026 deadline, and the corporate postings we checked in October 2026 were up for about one to two weeks. Apply in the first week a posting appears.
What GPA do you need for a Santander internship?
A cumulative 3.5 or above. Every summer 2027 undergraduate posting we read, across CIB, Commercial, Finance and Accounting, Auto Corporate Strategy and Wealth Management, lists it as a requirement. The postings also require US work authorization without sponsorship.
How much do Santander interns get paid?
The 2027 undergraduate postings we read don't print a rate. A listing for the summer 2026 CIB investment banking class showed $52.88 an hour, and one Boston Finance and Accounting intern reported $30 an hour for summer 2025 (community-reported). The MBA Summer Associate posting states $175,000 a year, pro-rated.
What is the Santander internship interview process like?
Santander doesn't publish it. Applicants describe behavioral first rounds: a resume walk-through and why banking for Finance and Accounting, and a 30-minute two-panelist interview for risk. A 2022 investment banking applicant reported a final round with a case study presentation. These are community reports.
Are Santander CIB and Santander US the same internship program?
No. Santander's internships page says the CIB program, the Santander US Corporate Functions program and the Wealth Management program are separate in requirements, recruiting process and timelines. CIB recruits in winter for the summer after next; Santander US recruits from August to February for the coming summer.
Do Santander interns get full-time offers?
Some go on to Santander's full-time programs, but no conversion rate is published. CIB runs a two-year Full Time Analyst Program starting each July, and Santander US runs a Finance and Accounting Rotational Program and a Commercial rotational analyst program. Santander also hires for those programs directly.
Santander's corporate internships for summer 2027 are posting and closing now, and the CIB summer analyst window for summer 2028 is expected from January to March 2027. A remote Externship gives you finished modeling or forecasting work to bring to either one.
