Societe Generale runs two US summer calendars, and mixing them up can cost you a year. The flagship New York Summer Analyst Program, ten weeks of rotations across equities, derivatives, fixed income and currencies or across investment banking desks, recruited for summer 2027 between about 28 December 2025 and 20 February 2026, according to the third-party tracker Trackr. That door is shut. For New York, the plain-words version is: you apply during the winter of 2026–27, you intern in summer 2028.

A second, smaller set of summer 2027 roles is open right now. On 3 October 2026, SG's own careers index listed six US summer 2027 requisitions: a 2027 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program in Houston and a Registered Investment Advisor summer analyst role in New York, both listing a $100,000 annual base; a 2027 Legal Summer Analyst Program for law students at $85,000, posted on 1 October; a Masters of Financial Engineering Global Markets Summer Associate role at $150,000; and two equity research summer roles listed under Bernstein. All six start on 7 June 2027, and none states a closing date.

What Is a Societe Generale Internship?

A Societe Generale internship in the US is a paid summer role at SG Americas, the US arm of the Paris-based bank, which its own Global Markets posting describes as a leading global bank with about $1.6 trillion in assets. The core is the Americas Summer Analyst Program: ten weeks in New York, with Global Markets interns doing four rotations across Equities & Derivatives and Fixed Income & Currencies desks, and Investment Banking interns doing two.

Every Americas summer analyst gets a week of training, weekly Lunch & Learns with senior management, a mentorship program and the option to shadow other teams. Around that core, SG posts individual summer roles with their own timing: this cycle that means Houston investment banking, an investment advisor affiliate called Haussmann 1864 Capital Management, the Legal department, a financial engineering track and Bernstein equity research.

When Do Societe Generale Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

SG's New York program sits in the ultra-early tier. Last cycle it opened about 28 December 2025 and closed about 20 February 2026 for a June 2027 start, a lead time of roughly 17 to 18 months, so the next New York window is for summer 2028. Those dates come from Trackr, not from SG, and SG's own program page publishes no dates, so treat them as a pattern rather than a promise.

The off-calendar roles run on a shorter clock. Houston IB, the RIA role and the MFE track were first posted between 15 and 23 September 2026 for a 7 June 2027 start, about nine months ahead, and Legal followed on 1 October. Bernstein's two research roles have been up since 13 July.

Summer 2027 applications are open right now for six roles: Houston IB, NY RIA, NY Legal (posted 1 October), the MFE Global Markets summer associate and two Bernstein research roles. The New York Summer Analyst Program for summer 2027 closed in February 2026. Off-cycle internships starting 26 October 2026 are also posted in New York and Jersey City.

If you're aiming at New York for summer 2028, pick the desks you'd rank (Rates, FX, FIC financing, linear and non-linear equity derivatives, Prime Services) and draft short behavioral answers. Create your Taleo profile now so you can apply the day the window opens.

Applications for the summer 2028 New York Summer Analyst Program are expected to open, based on last cycle's 28 December 2025 opening. Apply in the first week.

February to April 2027EXPECTED

The summer 2028 New York window is expected to close around February 2027. Phone interviews and superdays follow; one 2024 applicant reported a superday by early April. A Houston-style set of summer 2028 roles may post again around September 2027 (one cycle of evidence).

Summer 2027 and summer 2028

The six open summer 2027 roles start on 7 June 2027. The summer 2028 New York class runs ten weeks from about June 2028, with Global Markets interns rotating across four desks.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

None of the six open summer 2027 requisitions states a deadline, and the date that looks like one isn't. The job pages carry a structured validThrough date of 7 June 2027, which is simply the internship start date. Without a published cutoff, the risk is the seat going to someone who applied earlier, so the safe reading is rolling review: apply now, not in spring.

The New York window behaves differently. Last cycle it ran about eight weeks from late December to late February, and community reports put phone interviews in March and superdays by early April. A window that short over the winter break rewards people who have a resume and Taleo profile ready before it opens.

Which Societe Generale Internship Programs Should You Target?

SG's US summer roles split into the New York program, which recruits a year and a half ahead, and individually posted roles with their own timing.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Requirements are set role by role, and some roles state very little:

• Class year: Bernstein's Summer Research Associate role wants undergraduate or master's students graduating between December 2027 and June 2028. The Houston IB and RIA postings name no graduation year, and SG's program page doesn't state one for New York either.

• Degree: Legal asks for current law school students; the MFE track lists Master of Financial Engineering as the preferred major; Bernstein's Senior RA is for first-year MBAs.

• GPA: no minimum is stated on any open requisition. Bernstein asks you to put your cumulative GPA and test scores on your resume.

• Work authorization: none of the SG requisitions we read states a sponsorship policy, so ask the recruiter before you invest in a long process.

Which Summer Should You Apply For?

If you're a junior or master's student graduating by mid-2028, the open summer 2027 roles are your door now; don't wait for New York. If you're a sophomore or earlier, the New York program for summer 2028 is the realistic target, with its window expected around late December 2026. One 2024 applicant asked whether freshmen and sophomores follow different timelines and got no clear answer, so read each requisition's profile section before applying.

What Skills Does Societe Generale Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Across the six open US summer requisitions, the profile sections are short and lean on attributes rather than tool lists. Three of them (Houston IB, MFE and Legal) share one template that asks for academic accomplishments, interest in financial markets, team spirit and adaptability. The role-specific asks sit in the responsibilities: models, comparables and due diligence in Houston; credit analytics and memo writing at the RIA; VaR and hedging analysis on the MFE track; and in-depth company analysis through an earnings cycle at Bernstein. The RIA role is the only one that names software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

What Is the Societe Generale Application and Interview Process Like?

SG doesn't publish its interview process. This is the sequence the requisitions and community reports point to:

1. Apply per role on Taleo. Each summer role is its own requisition on careers.societegenerale.com. Bernstein asks for a cover letter plus GPA and test scores on your resume.

2. Phone or behavioral interview. Community reports from 2022 and 2024 describe a behavioral phone round first.

3. Superday. A 2024 summer 2025 Global Markets applicant reported a superday by early April; a 2022 Operations applicant had one in December.

4. Offer and placement. For New York Global Markets, interns are assigned or pick four desk rotations. SG doesn't publish offer timing.

Keep behavioral answers tight. A past Operations superday candidate's advice was to stay under about a minute and a half per answer.

What Students on Reddit Say

SG threads are few, but three give concrete detail on rotations, timing and the superday.

An incoming summer 2025 analyst said the New York Sales & Trading program is a 10-week rotation where interns pick or are assigned four desks, from Rates and FX to Prime Services and equity derivatives.

Applicants for the summer 2025 Global Markets internship reported phone interviews in March 2024, and at least one had already done the superday by early April.

A former Operations summer analyst candidate told a newer one to be confident, rehearse every behavioral answer and keep each under about a minute and a half, adding that the role wasn't crazy competitive.

How Do You Stand Out for a Societe Generale Summer Seat?

Three moves.

First, apply to the right calendar. Most applicants only know the New York program; the Houston, RIA, Legal and MFE roles are smaller, posted quietly and open now. If you fit one, apply this month.

Second, have a desk answer. New York Global Markets interns rotate across four desks, and offer-holders list options from Rates and FX to Prime Services and equity derivatives. Saying which two you'd want first, and why, beats a general interest in markets.

Third, bring one finished piece of analysis. The Houston posting asks for models, comparables and due diligence; the RIA role wants credit analytics and memos. A short model or memo you built yourself is easier to discuss in a superday than coursework. SG doesn't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate, so don't trust anyone who quotes one.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Societe Generale internship?

No. Summer 2026 has finished, and the New York Summer Analyst Program for summer 2027 also closed, around February 2026. What's open now: six summer 2027 roles (Houston IB, NY RIA, NY Legal, MFE and two Bernstein research roles) and off-cycle New York internships starting 26 October 2026.

When does the New York Summer Analyst Program open for summer 2028?

Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open around late December 2026 to January 2027 and close around February 2027. That projection comes from last cycle's dates on Trackr (28 December 2025 to 20 February 2026); SG publishes no dates, so check its careers site from mid-December.

Is there a deadline for the open summer 2027 roles?

No deadline is stated on any of the six open requisitions. The 7 June 2027 date in the page data is the start date, not a cutoff. Without a published deadline, treat review as rolling and apply as soon as you can rather than waiting for spring.

How much does Societe Generale pay summer interns?

SG's own postings list annual base pay of $100,000 for the Houston IB and RIA summer analyst roles, $85,000 for the Legal summer analyst role and $150,000 for the MFE summer associate. Bernstein's research roles list $105,000 and $175,000, pro-rated for 10 weeks.

How long is the Societe Generale summer program?

The New York Summer Analyst Program runs 10 weeks. Global Markets interns do four rotations across equities, derivatives, fixed income and currencies desks, and Investment Banking interns do two. Every open summer 2027 role, including Houston, starts on 7 June 2027.

What is the Societe Generale interview process like?

SG doesn't publish one. Community reports describe a behavioral phone interview followed by a superday, with one 2024 applicant reaching the superday by early April. Bernstein asks for a cover letter plus GPA and test scores. Keep behavioral answers short and specific.

Does Societe Generale have a GPA cutoff for interns?

No open SG requisition states a minimum GPA. The template used by the Houston IB, Legal and MFE roles asks for academic accomplishments, and Bernstein wants your cumulative GPA and test scores on your resume, so expect grades to be read even without a cutoff.

Do Societe Generale interns get full-time offers?

SG doesn't publish a conversion rate. Bernstein says its summer interns often join as full-time Associates after graduation, and an off-cycle SG posting mentions potential full-time hiring. For the New York program, ask about return offers and recent intern classes during your superday.

SG's open summer 2027 roles have no deadline and the New York window for summer 2028 is about three months away. Use the time to build proof: a remote Externship gives your application a finished model or memo to point to.
