Celestica has five US Student Intern postings open right now, and all five are engineering. The Toronto-based electronics manufacturer posted them on its own careers site between October 13 and 23, 2026, for Austin, Texas, San Jose, California and one remote US role, with 10 vacancies in total. Each is a three-month internship starting in June 2027 (May or June for the remote role), and none prints a pay rate. Most of Celestica's student postings are in Canada: 22 of the 27 Student Intern postings on its board are in Ontario. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and no posting states a deadline.

Return offersNot published as a rate. All five postings list a "possibility of a full-time position after completion of degree" and a "possibility of a student casual contract position after completion of internship"
LocationsAustin, TX (2 postings, 5 vacancies, on site), San Jose, CA (2 postings, 4 vacancies, one hybrid) and one remote US posting (1 vacancy, listed under New Hampshire)
# Programs1 student program, 5 US postings, 10 vacancies, all engineering. The other 22 Student Intern postings on Celestica's board are in Ontario, Canada, and aren't covered here

The row that matters most: only five US postings and 10 vacancies exist, all engineering, so apply early and read the ITAR note if you're eyeing the San Jose Engineering or Austin Software Testing role.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. No open Externship covers embedded or driver work, but the SQL & Database Architecture Externship with Breaking Games practices the data and scripting skills the testing and AI roles list, and the Hydroficient Advanced: IoT Cyber Defense Externship is the closest open match to connected hardware. What Is a Celestica Internship?

A Celestica internship in the US is a three-month engineering placement. Celestica is an electronics manufacturing and supply chain company headquartered in Toronto. Its postings say it designs, engineers and manufactures products, with over 33,000 employees across more than 45 sites, and that it builds data center infrastructure for AI, cloud and hybrid cloud. Its student program is mostly Canadian, so the US set is small and looks new this cycle: archived copies of Celestica's students page from March 2025 to February 2026 list only Ontario locations. The five US roles are Student Intern postings in software and hardware engineering, software testing, data science and AI. Celestica doesn't publish a class size or a conversion rate.

When Do Celestica Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Celestica posted its five US Student Intern roles in a ten-day burst: San Jose Engineering on October 13, 2026, the remote AI Engineer on October 15, San Jose AI/Data Science on October 17, Austin Software Testing on October 20 and Austin Software & Hardware on October 23. Start dates are in the postings (June 2027, or May or June for the remote role), so the lead time is about 7 to 8 months. We found no earlier US wave: Celestica's students page, as archived in March 2025, May 2025, November 2025 and February 2026, lists only Toronto, Newmarket and remote Canada roles, though archives are samples and don't prove none existed. The summer 2028 window is therefore a projection from one observed US cycle: expect postings from October to November 2027, with low confidence.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERE

Applications are open. All five US Student Intern postings were live on October 26, 2026: two in Austin, two in San Jose and one remote, with 10 vacancies between them.

Apply first, then build proof alongside: the SQL & Database Architecture Externship with Breaking Games gives you a finished data project to discuss in the interview.
Now · before the vacancies fillROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

Apply this week. No posting states a deadline and Celestica doesn't say when they close, but 10 vacancies is a small number. The San Jose AI/Data Science role asks for a copy of your transcript and your student email address, so have both ready.

November 2026 to spring 2027

After you apply: Celestica publishes no interview stages or timing. If you're offered the San Jose Engineering or Austin Software Testing role, the offer is conditional on a security assessment under ITAR.

Summer 2027

Three months starting in June 2027 (May or June for the remote AI Engineer). Interns get intern social events and, per the postings, two paid volunteer days a year in four of the five.

October to November 2027EXPECTED

Summer 2028 US postings expected, if this fall's pattern repeats. We found no earlier US cycle, so treat this as low confidence.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Celestica's US set is tiny, and that's the reason to apply in the first week. Five postings carry 10 vacancies between them, the largest being 3 each in San Jose Engineering and Austin Software & Hardware. No posting states a deadline, and Celestica doesn't say they fill first come, first served, so we can't promise the early ones close early. But with this few openings and no prior US wave to compare against, waiting buys you nothing. The postings are also new: the oldest is 13 days old.

Which Celestica Internship Programs Should You Target?

Five US postings are live, and all of them are engineering. Celestica's Canadian student postings are a separate, larger set.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Requirements differ by posting. These come from the five US postings, which we read in full on October 26, 2026.

• Degree: a bachelor's or master's program in electrical or computer engineering or computer science for the hardware and software roles; engineering or computer science for Software Testing; computer science, engineering, data science, AI or robotics for San Jose AI/Data Science; engineering, computer science or mathematics for the remote AI role.

• Experience: all five say no formal experience required.

• Skills: the postings name C/C++, Python, Bash, Linux, computer architecture and, for the AI roles, large language models and agentic AI.

• Documents: San Jose AI/Data Science and Austin Software & Hardware ask for a copy of your transcript and your student email address.

• GPA and work authorization: no GPA is stated, and no posting states a citizenship requirement.

What Does ITAR Mean for Your Application?

Two postings, San Jose Engineering and Austin Software Testing, say the work is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and that the offer is conditional on a security assessment. The San Jose Engineering posting adds that the site is a US ITAR facility where the work involves releasing export-controlled goods, and that Celestica will ask applicants for the information it needs to decide whether export control licenses or exemptions must be filed. None of the postings uses the word citizenship or names a clearance level. The other three carry no ITAR text. If you're not a US citizen, ask the recruiter before you apply to either of those two.

What Skills Does Celestica Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Three themes run through the five postings. Systems software: C, C++ and Python, Linux and OS concepts, computer architecture, and debugging, which is the core of the San Jose Engineering and Austin roles. Test and automation: test plans, Python and Bash scripts, testbeds and continuous integration for AI data center servers. AI and data: large language models, agentic workflows, data cleaning and visualization, named for the two AI roles and the Software Testing role's GenAI tools. Every posting also asks for communication and teamwork, and the Software Testing posting encourages AI coding tools by name.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill below maps to a remote Externship you can finish while the postings are open. The fit is partial, because no open Externship covers embedded software.

No open Externship teaches C, device drivers or Linux kernel work. Build those through coursework, open-source contributions or a student design team, which the San Jose Engineering posting lists as preferred.

What Is the Celestica Application and Interview Process Like?

Celestica publishes no interview stages for interns. This is what the five postings do say.

1. Pick a posting. Search careers.celestica.com for "Student Intern" and choose the US role that fits your degree.

2. Apply with your documents. San Jose AI/Data Science and Austin Software & Hardware ask for your transcript and student email address.

3. Interview. Format, rounds and timing aren't published.

4. Security assessment, where it applies. The San Jose Engineering and Austin Software Testing offers are conditional on a security assessment under ITAR.

Celestica also publishes no interview questions for these roles.

What We Found on Reddit

Nothing we can use. The Celestica threads we read are from Canadian students about Celestica's Canadian internships, from 2018 and 2024, which is a different program from these US roles. We'd rather show no quotes than borrow another country's.

How Do You Stand Out for a Small Engineering Cohort?

First, match one posting precisely. With five roles, a resume that names the role's own stack, such as Linux drivers for San Jose Engineering or Python and Bash automation for Software Testing, beats a generic engineering resume. Second, show hands-on proof. The San Jose Engineering posting lists student clubs, hackathons, design competitions and open-source contributions as preferred, so bring a project you can walk through. Third, send the documents the posting asks for, including the transcript and student email. Celestica doesn't publish a class size, applicant count or conversion rate, so treat any number from review sites as unverified.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Celestica internship?

No. Summer 2026 internships ran last summer and are over. The cycle open now is the one aimed at summer 2027: five US Student Intern postings were live on Celestica's careers site on October 26, 2026, posted October 13 to 23, with 10 vacancies and June 2027 starts.

Does Celestica hire interns in the US?

Yes, but only a few. Five US Student Intern postings are live: two in Austin, two in San Jose and one remote, all engineering. Most of Celestica's student postings, 22 of 27, are in Ontario, Canada, and follow a different program that this guide doesn't cover.

Do Celestica interns get paid?

Celestica's postings print no pay rate, and we found no pay figure on its own pages, so we can't say what the US roles pay. Ask the recruiter before you accept. Pay figures on third-party sites mostly describe Canadian roles or older years and aren't used here.

Do I need to be a US citizen for a Celestica internship?

Not stated for most roles. San Jose Engineering and Austin Software Testing say the work is subject to ITAR and the offer depends on a security assessment, and the San Jose posting mentions export control licenses. No posting uses the word citizenship or names a clearance level, so ask the recruiter.

How long is a Celestica internship?

The five US postings are 3 months. Four start in June 2027 and the remote AI Engineer role starts in May or June 2027. Celestica's postings state no end dates. Canadian student roles are a separate program, so don't assume this length applies to a Toronto or Newmarket posting.

When do Celestica internship applications open?

They're open now. The five US postings were dated October 13, 15, 17, 20 and 23, 2026, and none states a deadline. We found no earlier US wave, so the summer 2028 window is a low-confidence projection: expect postings from October to November 2027.

Which majors can apply for a Celestica internship?

Engineering, computer science and related majors. The hardware and software roles want electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science; the AI roles add data science, AI, robotics and mathematics. All five say no formal experience is required, and none states a GPA.

Do Celestica interns get full-time offers?

Celestica doesn't publish a conversion rate. All five postings list a possibility of a full-time position after completing your degree and a possible student casual contract after the internship. Treat any percentage you find on review sites or forums as unverified.

Pick the US posting that matches your degree this week and apply with your transcript and student email ready. While you wait to hear back, a remote Externship gives you a finished data or analysis project to discuss in the interview.
