Last updated: October 2026
TE Connectivity is hiring for summer 2027 right now. On 3 Oct 2026 its own careers board listed 34 US student requisitions (31 internships and 3 co-ops), and eight of them went up between 30 Sep and 2 Oct, so the wave is still growing. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027. Every req posts a pay range, most often $20.91 to $45.04 an hour, and 9 of the 34 sit at export-controlled sites that require US citizenship or permanent residency.
The useful question isn't when TE opens; it's which of its 34 site-specific reqs fits you, and whether you clear its ITAR line.

One door has shut since late September: the Career Pathways listing for sophomores and juniors, hosted on the Thurgood Marshall College Fund board, passed its 22 Sep 2026 priority date and is no longer posted. Everything on careers.te.com is still open.
Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often over 8 weeks at 5–10 hours a week. The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy Externship builds the operations analysis TE's manufacturing and supply chain reqs ask for, and the Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship puts you to work on connected sensors, which is TE's home turf.
What Is a TE Connectivity Internship?
A TE Connectivity internship is a paid 10–12-week summer role at one of TE's US plants or technology centers, usually May through August, where you own a project and present it at the end. TE makes connectors and sensors for cars, factories, aircraft, data centers and medical devices, posted $17.26 billion in fiscal 2025 net sales.
Unlike a bank's single summer program, TE hires one req at a time. Each of the 34 live postings names a site, a business unit and a pay band, so where you'd work is decided before you apply, not after.

When Do TE Connectivity Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Applications for summer 2027 opened on 20 Jul 2026, when TE posted its US Finance Internship Program req. Engineering reqs followed in early August, the bulk landed between 1 and 18 Sep, and a fresh batch of eight (Katy TX, Plymouth MN, Middletown PA and two unassigned) appeared from 30 Sep to 2 Oct. TE's own req text says it recruits on campus "between September and March" for roles beginning in May, which puts the front edge about 10 months before start.
If you're reading this in October 2026, you're inside the window, not ahead of it. If you're aiming further out, applications for summer 2028 are expected around July to September 2027, a projection from this one measured cycle.
Applications for summer 2027 are open right now: 34 US intern and co-op reqs live on careers.te.com, eight of them added 30 Sep to 2 Oct. The TMCF-hosted Career Pathways listing has closed. Apply to the reqs that fit, then use the gap before interviews to build proof.
Peak of TE's fall recruiting for summer 2027. Reqs carry no stated deadline and close as they fill. Offers accepted in the fall start onboarding in January 2027, so earlier applicants are processed first.
Expected tail of the summer 2027 window: TE says campus recruiting runs through March, and late reqs can still post. Spring acceptances onboard on acceptance. Expect fewer open roles by then.
Applications for summer 2028 expected to open, projected from this cycle's 20 Jul to 2 Oct 2026 posting spread. Treat it as an estimate: only one cycle's posting dates were measured.
The internship itself: 10–12 weeks, typically May through August, ending with a project presentation. Fuquay-Varina manufacturing co-ops start in June or August 2027. TE doesn't publish a return-offer rate.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
TE's urgency mode is rolling, not a hard deadline. None of the 34 requisitions states a closing date, and the only dated cutoff in this cycle, Career Pathways' priority date, has already passed. Waiting costs you because each req is one seat at one site, and once a hiring manager fills it, it comes down.
Rolling also means late isn't hopeless. TE's own text says fall acceptances begin onboarding in January and spring acceptances onboard as they accept, so the window genuinely stays open into 2027. The catch is supply: by spring you're choosing from whatever hasn't filled.
Which TE Connectivity Internship Programs Should You Target?
TE doesn't run one branded intern class. It posts individual reqs by role and site, which group into six tracks.
| Track | Live roles (examples) | Duration | Key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering & R&D | Mechanical Engineering, R&D/Product Development, SI Engineering, Contact Physics & Plating, Electromechanical | 10–12 weeks | Middletown and Mount Joy PA, Winston-Salem NC, Plymouth MN, Webster NY, Carpinteria and Fremont CA; most $20.91–$45.04/hr |
| Quality & manufacturing | Quality Engineering, Quality Analyst, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Product Engineering | 10–12 weeks | Mount Joy PA, Plymouth MN, Winston-Salem NC, Katy TX; Katy and Mount Joy roles are ITAR-restricted |
| PhD & materials research | R&D Materials Development PhD, R&D Product Development PhD, Polymers Materials Science | 10–12 weeks | Fremont CA Corporate Technology Center; PhD roles $37.29–$57.15/hr |
| Business | US Finance Internship Program, Supply Chain Analyst, Global Procurement, Project Management, Product Management, Product and Digital Marketing | 10–12 weeks | Finance can place you in PA, NC, MN or remote (US); $19.39–$40.40/hr |
| IT & data | IT Project Management (Middletown, ITAR), Applied AI Data Engineering | 10–12 weeks | $20.91–$45.04/hr posted on both |
| Co-ops | Manufacturing Engineering Co-op (June or August 2027 start), Manufacturing Technician Co-op | Rotation-based | Fuquay-Varina NC (Energy unit), Middletown PA EPICenter; $15.00–$37.41/hr |
Start from the site you can actually get to, then match the role. Search careers.te.com for "intern" and read each req's location line; the older Intern Programs page points only at closed requisitions.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Across the 34 live US reqs, TE's requirements are consistent and mostly practical:
• Enrollment: currently pursuing a BA/BS or MA/MS in the named field; gap-year students "may also be considered". Fremont's research roles ask for a PhD in progress.
• Class year: the Finance req wants graduation between December 2027 and June 2028; engineering reqs don't fix a year.
• GPA: only 2 of 34 reqs set a floor ("minimum GPA of 3.0 in major"). The other 32 state none.
• Work authorization: every req says you must be "authorized to work in the U.S." No req mentions visa sponsorship either way.
• ITAR/EAR: 9 of 34 reqs require US citizenship, permanent residency, asylee or refugee status because the work touches export-controlled information.

Is the Citizenship Rule a Hard Cutoff?
On nine reqs, yes. Those bodies say "You must be a U.S. Citizen or national U.S. lawful permanent resident" (or asylee or refugee), and they cluster at defense and aerospace sites: Mount Joy PA, Katy TX, Carpinteria and Fremont CA, plus the Harrisburg EHS and Middletown IT roles.
One Middletown mechanical req only says citizens are "preferred" because of ITAR at many locations, and most reqs carry no clause at all. Read the line on the specific req; if you're an international student, the remaining 25 are where to focus.
What Skills Does TE Connectivity Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Reading the requirement lines of all 34 live US reqs, three clusters dominate. Hands-on technical work comes first: testing and measurement equipment, manufacturing processes, tooling and root-cause analysis show up across the plant and lab roles. Evidence of prior work comes next, since most reqs prefer "prior internship experience" or a completed "major project". Data and communication skills round it out.
Notice what's thin: programming appears on only two reqs, and formal statistics on three. TE is hiring builders and testers first.

Method: keyword scan of the responsibilities and requirements text of all 34 live US TE intern and co-op requisitions on careers.te.com, read 3 Oct 2026, with TE's company and benefits boilerplate excluded. 26 of the 34 are engineering or technical roles, so the chart leans technical.
How Is Demand for Engineering Interns Moving Right Now?
Mechanical engineering intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026
vs 207 in August
Most engineering employers posted in September, the same month TE did. Applying in October puts you in the middle of the pack, not behind it.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (87 postings in September, 36 in August).
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Pick the gap your resume shows against those requirements, and close it with a finished project before an interview.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Operations and supply chain analysis | Project Management Intern (Katy TX): operations strategy, make vs. buy, footprint decisions, benchmarking | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy |
| FP&A and forecasting | US Finance Internship Program: FP&A, treasury, lean finance; "Proficient with MS-Office products, specifically Excel" | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis |
| Data analysis and structured data | Engineering reqs: "creatively solve problems using data and analytics"; Applied AI Data Engineering Intern | Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture |
| Connected devices and security awareness | TE's sensor business; 9 reqs at ITAR/EAR-controlled sites | Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense |
| Product management | Product Management and Product Marketing interns | BeReal Product Management |
Don't treat an Externship as a substitute for a TE application while reqs are live. Apply first; the project is what you talk about once a recruiter calls.
What Is the TE Connectivity Application and Interview Process Like?
TE publishes its process in plain terms, though not the interview format:
1. Find the right req. Search careers.te.com for "intern", open each posting, and note its site, business unit and pay band.
2. Check the ITAR line. Nine reqs require US citizenship or permanent residency; skip those if you don't qualify.
3. Apply online. Applications run through TE's SuccessFactors portal, with an option to start from your LinkedIn profile.
4. Resume review. TE's text: if you're selected for the next step, "you will be contacted by a recruiter."
5. Interviews. TE doesn't publish the format or the number of rounds. One 2023 intern on Reddit said the interview came about three weeks before the offer.
6. Offer and onboarding. Offers accepted in the fall start onboarding in January; spring acceptances onboard on acceptance.
If an interview invite comes, expect questions about the specific project on your resume, since most reqs ask for prior internship or major-project experience.
What Engineers on Reddit Say
TE gets little intern-specific discussion on Reddit; these three threads are first-hand or close to it.
An engineering student got a TE summer internship offer in rural Pennsylvania in April, about three weeks after interviewing, and had to weigh it against a research program they'd already accepted. Commenters split between the paid industry role and the research slot.
When a Penn State industrial engineering grad said they couldn't land interviews, one commenter's short advice was to try TE Connectivity, saying it hires plenty of new grads, Penn State grads especially. Others pushed manufacturing engineering roles as the fastest way in.
Answering an NC State mechanical engineering senior job hunting near Winston-Salem, a former TE engineer pointed to TE's engineering and manufacturing sites around the city and called it a good company after three years there straight out of school.
How Do You Stand Out for a TE Connectivity Internship?
Three moves, all doable this month. First, apply to the req, not the company. TE hires per site and role, so name the business unit (Automotive, Aerospace Defense and Marine, Energy, the Fremont technology center) and the work in that req's bullets.
Second, lead with a project you finished. 24 of the 34 reqs use the same line, "prior internship experience or have completed a major project", so a concrete build, test or analysis with a result beats a list of courses.
Third, show you can work with data on physical things. Reqs ask for statistical tool and process qualification, root-cause analysis and measurement equipment; one sentence on how you measured something and what you changed is worth more than "detail-oriented".

What Other Companies Should You Consider?
If TE's sites or ITAR rules don't fit, these companies hire for similar connector, sensor and component work.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 TE Connectivity internship?
No. Summer 2026 internships have already run, and those requisitions are closed. The next cycle is open now: on 3 Oct 2026 TE listed 34 US intern and co-op reqs for summer 2027 on careers.te.com. The Career Pathways listing on the Thurgood Marshall College Fund board has also closed.
When do TE Connectivity summer 2027 internship applications open?
They're already open. The first US req for summer 2027 went live on 20 Jul 2026, and new ones were still appearing on 2 Oct 2026. TE says it recruits on campus from September to March for positions starting in May, so more reqs may post into early 2027.
Is there a TE Connectivity internship application deadline?
None of TE's own requisitions states one, so treat it as rolling. Reqs come down as they fill, and offers accepted in the fall start onboarding in January, which favors early applicants. The one dated cutoff, Career Pathways' 22 Sep 2026 priority date, has passed and that listing is gone.
How much do TE Connectivity interns make?
TE posts a range on every requisition. Most engineering and business internships list $20.91 to $45.04 an hour, the Finance program lists $19.39 to $40.40, and Fremont PhD R&D roles list $37.29 to $57.15. Ranges vary by location, and interns placed 50+ miles from home get a one-time relocation stipend.
Do I need to be a US citizen for a TE Connectivity internship?
Not for most roles, but you must be authorized to work in the US. Nine of the 34 live reqs, at export-controlled sites such as Mount Joy PA, Katy TX and Carpinteria CA, require US citizenship, permanent residency, asylee or refugee status under ITAR/EAR. No req mentions visa sponsorship.
Does TE Connectivity require a minimum GPA?
Mostly no. Only two of the 34 live US reqs state a floor, a 3.0 in your major, on the Contact Physics, Tribology and Plating role and the R&D Product Development PhD role. The rest ask for the right degree, prior internship or project experience and communication skills instead.
How long is a TE Connectivity internship, and where?
Ten to twelve weeks, typically May through August 2027. Most roles sit in central Pennsylvania (Middletown, Harrisburg, Mount Joy), with others in Fremont and Carpinteria CA, Winston-Salem NC, Katy TX, Plymouth MN and Webster NY. The Fuquay-Varina NC co-ops start in June or August 2027.
Does TE Connectivity hire interns full time?
TE doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its careers site describes a development program aimed at recent graduates and past interns, and new-grad and rotational engineering reqs were live in Middletown alongside the September 2026 intern wave. Treat a return offer as possible, not promised.
Apply to the TE reqs that fit this month, then build proof while you wait: a remote Externship gives you a finished project to bring to the interview.
