UHY is partway through hiring its 2027 interns. When we checked its Workday job board on October 12, 2026, it listed 12 internships titled for 2027: eight winter (busy season) roles, three summer roles and one fall role. Each office or region posts its own opening and takes it down on its own schedule. The New York Downstate, Maryland, Michigan and Irvine offices had already posted 2027 internships and closed them. In plain words: you apply in late summer or fall 2026, and you intern in 2027, either from about January in the winter busy season or in summer.

So UHY runs more than one cohort a year on short posting windows, and the nearest open door is winter 2027, not summer. Pay is published only where state law requires it: the two upstate New York postings list $25 to $28 an hour.

What Is a UHY Internship?

A UHY internship is a temporary, office-based role of less than six months at UHY, the US accounting firm made up of UHY LLP (the licensed CPA firm) and UHY Advisors (tax and consulting). Interns work in audit, tax, client accounting and advisory services (CAS) or Technology, Risk and Compliance (TRC). The firm's entry-level page describes the job as "work similar to a first-year staff accountant." UHY runs winter, summer and fall cohorts, and each office or region posts its own opening.

UHY's About page calls it a top 30 US accounting firm with 40+ offices and 2,000+ employees. It's ranked #25 on Vault's 2027 Most Prestigious Accounting Firms list. This page covers the US firm only; UHY member firms in other countries run their own student programs. The Connect Program, covered below, is a leadership program and not an internship.

When Do UHY Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

UHY posted its 2027 internships between August 4 and October 6, 2026, and six of the 12 live postings carry an August 11 date (these are Workday posting dates, so read them as on or about). Applications for summer 2027 opened about 10 months before a typical June start. Applications for winter 2027 opened about 3 to 5 months before a typical January start. The postings don't state start dates; January and June are the usual busy-season and summer starts in accounting. The one fall 2027 posting, for TRC, went up about 13 months ahead. UHY's careers FAQ says "Campus recruiting typically begins in early fall, but applications are reviewed year-round." Applications for winter 2028 and summer 2028 are expected around August 2027, a projection from this one cycle.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

UHY's postings don't state a deadline. None of the 12 open ones says when it closes. The reason to move fast is what already happened this cycle. Seven 2027 internship postings in New York Downstate, Maryland, Michigan and Irvine went up in roughly late August to early September 2026 and had been taken down by October 11, about four to six weeks later. The posting dates are inferred from requisition numbers, not from a published date, but the closures are confirmed on UHY's own board. Each office closes on its own, so there's no national cutoff to plan around. If your office's posting is up, apply this week. If it's already gone, look at a nearby office, the winter cohort or the Connect Program.

Which UHY Internship Programs Should You Target?

UHY's 2027 postings fall into four internship tracks, each posted by office or region, plus one program that isn't an internship.

Risk advisory and Asia Business Group audit internships were also posted for 2027 in Maryland and New York and have closed. UHY describes its student routes on the entry-level professionals page and the Connect Program page. Its FAQ says Connect and fall recruiting "are not mandatory" for getting an internship.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The 12 open postings share nearly the same requirements:

• Enrollment: "Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field." The TRC postings ask for accounting, information systems, computer science, cybersecurity or a similar field.

• GPA: a cumulative 3.0 or higher appears under "Preferred education and experience" in 11 of the 12 postings. It isn't listed as required.

• Experience: 0 to 1 year of relevant experience.

• Class year: not stated in any posting.

• Work authorization: the postings don't mention visa sponsorship either way. Ask the regional campus recruiter before you count on it.

• Tax track: the tax postings list working toward CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure as preferred.

• Work model: "Work is conducted in a professional office environment." No posting mentions remote or hybrid work.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff at UHY?

No. UHY's postings put the 3.0 under preferred qualifications, not required ones. The required items are current enrollment in a relevant degree and 0 to 1 year of experience. A GPA below 3.0 won't disqualify you on paper, though a preferred line still shapes who gets an interview, so offset it with accounting coursework, a relevant project or a conversation with the campus recruiter.

What Skills Does UHY Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

We read all 12 open 2027 postings. Every one asks interns to document their work (workpapers, audit files, tax files, test results) and to work with clients or client-provided information. Ten name communication, ten involve analysis of financial data or risks, and ten mention accounting, audit or tax software. Track-specific skills follow from there: the four audit postings name substantive and control testing, and the five tax postings name return preparation, tax research and projections. The TRC postings list security frameworks such as SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI DSS and NIST, and the winter TRC posting adds Microsoft Office and a basic grasp of cybersecurity principles.

What Is the UHY Application and Interview Process Like?

UHY doesn't publish its interview format or the number of rounds. Here is what its careers pages and postings do show:

1. Find your office's posting. Each office or region has its own requisition on the Workday board, and one posting can cover several cities (the New York Upstate tax posting lists six locations).

2. Apply on Workday. Apply to the posting for your office, track and cohort. Winter, summer and fall roles are separate postings.

3. Meet the campus team. UHY's fall recruiting includes "networking events, information sessions, and on-campus interviews." The entry-level page lists its University Talent Acquisition contacts by city.

4. Interview. The format, the number of rounds and the timing aren't published, and we found no first-hand intern account of them.

5. Offer. Offer timing isn't published. UHY says applications "are reviewed year-round," and offices take postings down as they fill.

How Do You Stand Out for a UHY Internship?

Three moves. First, search by office, not by firm. Each office or region posts and closes its own internship, so set a job alert on the Workday board for your city and check the nearest offices too. Second, consider the winter cohort. Eight of the 12 postings open on October 12, 2026 were winter internships, so a student who can work a January-start busy season has more openings to choose from. Third, speak the track's language. Tax applicants should be ready to talk about return preparation and research. TRC applicants should know what SOC 2, PCI DSS and NIST are. Is the UHY winter internship full-time?

It depends on the office. The two upstate New York winter 2027 postings, tax in the Albany region and audit in Hudson, are part-time. The winter postings in Iowa, Missouri and South Carolina are full-time. Every UHY internship posting describes the role as temporary and shorter than six months.

Do UHY interns get full-time offers?

UHY doesn't publish a conversion rate or a class size. What its job board shows is that 2027 Audit Staff Accountant and Tax Staff Accountant roles are posted alongside the internships, so the firm hires its entry-level class on the same fall calendar.
