Last updated: October 2026
Stride, the online school and career learning company formerly called K12, posts paid, fully remote corporate internships one at a time through the year, and on October 26, 2026 none of its 100 open requisitions is an internship. The five internship roles still listed on Stride's own Internships page are closed. Stride's job data shows intern roles going up on June 4, 2024, August 11, 2025, March 9, 2026 and May 4 and May 22, 2026, at posted pay of $16 to $22 an hour. In plain words: Stride has no single application season, so you watch its job board and apply the day an internship appears.
Quick Facts
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Where to apply | Stride's Workday board with the Internship filter. Stride's Internships page still lists five roles that are closed, so don't rely on it. Most of the board is teaching jobs (93 of 100 openings are in Academics) |
| Application window (2027–28) | Nothing open (October 26, 2026). Stride posts intern roles one at a time, with posting start dates we traced of June 2024, August 2025, March 2026 and May 2026 (twice). There is no fixed season, so we can't give a summer 2027 date. Expect new roles in most months, low confidence on any specific month |
| Rolling? | Not stated. Stride publishes no deadline. Roles go up singly, and the ones we traced were still listed up to two weeks after their start date |
| Eligibility | Varies by posting. The roles we read ask for a student currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree; the Data Engineering Intern wanted a bachelor's in computer science, data engineering, IT or a related field; one part-time role accepted a high school diploma. Stride's page also features high school interns. Work authorization wasn't stated in what we read |
| Duration | Not fixed. Roles are full time or part time by posting; the Data Engineering Intern allowed up to 40 hours a week. The postings state no end date |
| Compensation | Paid, per Stride's page. Posted pay in the five roles we read: $16 to $22 an hour (Game Design, 2024), $20 (part-time Special Programs, 2025), $22 (Talent Development Training, March 2026), $20 (Data Engineering, May 2026) and $18 to $22 (K12 Zone Engineering, May 2026). Eligible interns may earn school credit |
| Return offers | Not published as a rate. Stride's page quotes a 2020 college intern who became a recruiting coordinator after the internship |
| Locations | Remote. The postings we read say US nationwide remote. Stride says 90% of the company is remote |
| # Programs | No named program. Intern roles are posted one at a time on teams including data engineering, engineering, training and talent development. 0 of 100 open requisitions are internships today |
The row that matters most: nothing is open today, and Stride's own Internships page lists only closed roles, so use the job board.
Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. The Khan Academy Strategic Partnerships & Growth Externship practices the partnerships work behind education products like Stride's, and the SQL & Database Architecture with Breaking Games Externship builds the SQL skills behind its data engineering internship. What Is a Stride Internship?
A Stride internship is a paid, remote placement at Stride, Inc., the company that runs online K-12 schools and career learning programs and was known as K12 until it renamed itself. Stride's page says interns work on real projects across a variety of teams, not just teaching and education roles, and that internships are paid. The roles we traced were in data engineering, software engineering, game design, training design and project support. Stride isn't Stride Bank or Stride Health, and its job board is mostly teaching jobs, so search for internships only. Stride doesn't publish a class size, an applicant count or a conversion rate.

When Do Stride Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Stride doesn't run one application season. It posts internships one at a time, so there is no single opening date to wait for. Stride's job data gives the roles we traced posting start dates of June 4, 2024, August 11, 2025, March 9, 2026, and May 4 and May 22, 2026, and each was still listed up to two weeks later. The postings give no work start date, so we can't compute a lead time in months. We read these from archived copies of Stride's own postings, which means the sample is small and the pattern is low confidence. For summer 2028 the answer is the same: watch the board.
Nothing is open. Stride's Workday board listed 100 requisitions on October 26, 2026 and none is an internship. The five roles on its Internships page (content creator, information security, project management, social media content and talent development) are closed.
Check the board. Open Stride's Workday site with the Internship filter every week or two. New roles can appear in any month, and the Internships page doesn't update with them.
Apply the first day you see it. Stride publishes no deadline, and the roles we traced went up one at a time. A role you miss today may not repeat for weeks.
Expected, low confidence: more roles. The 2026 roles we traced posted in March and May, so spring is a reasonable time to watch closely, but Stride doesn't promise a spring or summer cohort.
Intern work is remote, and some roles are part time. Stride's postings give no fixed length, so read each role's hours before you plan your term.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Stride's postings come and go quickly, and the evidence is on its own site. The Internships page still lists five roles that are closed, and the roles we traced were each still listed no more than two weeks after their posting start date. Stride publishes no deadline and no count of openings, so we can't call the process rolling or fixed. The safe habit is simple: check the board often and apply the first day you see an internship, because a role may not stay up long and the next one may be weeks away.
Which Stride Internship Programs Should You Target?
Stride has no fixed program, so this table lists the intern roles we could trace from archived copies of its own postings. None is open on October 26, 2026.
| Program | Focus | Duration | Key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Engineering Intern (May 2026) | Data pipelines and integrations in Python and SQL for Stride's online learning and school operations | Full time, up to 40 hrs/week | $20.00/hr; currently pursuing a bachelor's in computer science, data engineering, IT or related |
| K12 Zone Engineering Intern (May 2026) | SDK-based prototypes for the K12 Zone, Stride's virtual student engagement environment | Full time | $18 to $22/hr; pursuing or interested in computer science, software engineering, game development or interactive media |
| Talent Development Training Intern (March 2026) | Training materials, e-learning modules and virtual sessions for educators and employees | Full time | $22/hr |
| Special Programs Intern (August 2025) | Project and support work for Stride's related services operations team | Part time | $20/hr; high school diploma or pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree |
| Intern, Game Design (June 2024) | Game design; we read the pay but did not summarize the duties | Full time | $16 to $22/hr |

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Requirements differ by posting. These come from archived copies of the five postings we read, and none is open today.
• Class year and degree: most roles ask for a student currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree. The Data Engineering Intern asked for a bachelor's in computer science, data engineering, IT or a related field.
• Open to non-majors: the K12 Zone Engineering Intern accepted students pursuing or interested in pursuing computer science, software engineering, game development or interactive media.
• High school: one part-time role accepted a high school diploma, and Stride's page features high school interns, so check each posting.
• Background check: the Data Engineering posting required clearing one.
• Work authorization and GPA: not stated in what we read.

Is It Only for Education Majors?
No. Stride's page says interns contribute to real projects across a variety of teams, not just teaching and education roles, and the roles we traced were in data engineering, software engineering, training design and project support. Be careful with the job board: 93 of its 100 openings are in Academics, and titles like Student Support Advisor are full-time school staff jobs, not internships.
What Skills Does Stride Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Stride has no live internship, so we read five archived postings, which is too few to rank skills. They point at three themes. Technical: Python, SQL, data pipelines, testing and cloud exposure for data engineering, and SDK prototypes with database-supported features for K12 Zone engineering. Content and training: presentations, e-learning modules, video and job aids, with design tools such as Canva. Support work: Microsoft Office, communication, collaboration and attention to detail. One posting also listed interest in education technology as a desired qualification.
Note: Five archived postings across four unrelated functions are too few for a skill chart, which would overstate any single skill. Sources: archived copies of Stride's own postings, 2024 to 2026.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill below maps to a remote Externship you can finish while the board is empty.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Python, SQL and data pipelines | Data Engineering Intern: Python and SQL, data workflows, unit testing | SQL & Database Architecture with Breaking Games |
| Data analysis | Stride's data roles support analytics for online K-12 learning and school operations | ARCeH Data Analytics, Health Outcomes |
| Education partnerships and growth | The Talent Development role trains educators, administrators and school partners | Khan Academy Strategic Partnerships & Growth |
| Product and interactive design | K12 Zone Engineering Intern: prototypes for virtual student interaction | BeReal Product Management |
| Consumer and audience insight | Stride's Internships page lists content creator and social media content roles (closed) | Health-Ade (Generous Brands) Consumer Behavior & Insights |
The Externships build adjacent skills. None teaches Stride's own platforms, and none replaces coursework in computer science or game development.
What Is the Stride Application and Interview Process Like?
Stride doesn't publish its intern interview process, so this is what is known.
1. Find the role. Open Stride's Workday board and apply the Internship filter.
2. Apply. Roles post one at a time. The postings we read give no deadline.
3. Interview. Stride publishes no format or stages.
4. Background check. The Data Engineering posting required clearing one before the internship.
Stride publishes no interview questions and no timing between steps.
What We Found on Reddit
Nothing we can use. The Reddit results for Stride are written by teachers or are job-board bot reposts, and none describes a corporate internship. We'd rather show no quotes than borrow a teacher's experience.
How Do You Stand Out for a Stride Internship?
First, be ready before a role posts. Stride publishes no deadline and lists roles one at a time, so keep a current resume and one project you can describe, and check the board often. Second, pick a team and show it. The roles we traced were data engineering, software engineering, training design and project support, so a pipeline, a prototype or a set of training materials speaks directly to the job. Third, show interest in online K-12 learning; one posting listed interest in education technology as a desired qualification. Stride doesn't publish a class size, applicant counts or a conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Stride internship?
No. Summer 2026 is over, and Stride has no internship open at all today: none of its 100 requisitions on October 26, 2026 is an internship. Its Internships page still lists five roles, but they are closed. New roles post through the year, so watch the board.
When do Stride internship applications open?
There is no single season. Stride's job data shows intern roles going up on June 4, 2024, August 11, 2025, March 9, 2026, and May 4 and May 22, 2026. Roles appear one at a time, so check Stride's job board often rather than waiting for a date.
Are Stride internships paid and remote?
Yes to both. Stride's page says its internships are paid, and eligible interns may earn school credit. The postings we read list US nationwide remote work, and Stride says 90% of the company is remote. Some roles are part time, so read each posting.
How much do Stride interns earn?
The five postings we read list $16 to $22 an hour for Game Design in 2024, $20 for a part-time Special Programs role in 2025, $22 for Talent Development Training in March 2026, $20 for Data Engineering in May 2026 and $18 to $22 for K12 Zone Engineering.

Are Stride internships only for teaching and education majors?
No. Stride's page says interns work on real projects across a variety of teams, not just teaching and education roles. The roles we traced were in data engineering, software engineering, game design, training design and project support. The job board itself is mostly teaching jobs, so filter for internships.
How long is a Stride internship?
Stride doesn't publish a standard length. The postings we read are full time or part time, and the Data Engineering role allowed up to 40 hours a week. None stated an end date, so ask about the term and hours before you accept an offer.
Do Stride interns get full-time offers?
Stride doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its Internships page quotes a 2020 college intern who landed a recruiting coordinator position after the internship, which is one story, not a rate. Treat any percentage you see on review sites as unverified.
Check Stride's job board often and apply the day an internship appears. While you wait, a remote Externship gives you a finished project to show in the interview.
