Last updated: November 2026
PGIM filled its summer 2027 intern class in three waves. Fixed Income postings went up in January 2026 with a January 30 deadline, about 17 months before the internship. Investment roles in credit and real estate were open July 17 to August 14, 2026, and the remaining roles opened September 1 with late-September deadlines. On November 1, 2026, PGIM's job board listed no US internships, and its internships page showed "No Openings" in all eight categories. So this page targets summer 2028. In plain words: you apply in 2027, you intern in summer 2028.
The first public window for summer 2028 is expected around mid-January 2027, when PGIM Fixed Income posted last cycle. If you're a sophomore, that January posting is the next open door.
What Is a PGIM Internship?
A PGIM internship is a paid 10-week summer program at PGIM, the asset management business of Prudential Financial, headquartered in Newark, New Jersey. PGIM's 2027 postings describe the firm as managing "$1.4 trillion in assets under management" across "40 offices spanning 20 countries." Most seats are Summer Investment Analyst Programs inside one business: Public Fixed Income (Portfolio Analysis and Credit Research), Private Credit, or Real Estate. PGIM also hires interns into Operations, Product and Institutional Client, and Global Wealth Sales. Jennison Associates, a PGIM affiliate, runs a separate 10-week program on its own careers site. This page covers PGIM's programs only. For Prudential's corporate tracks, such as actuarial, finance and the Chief Investment Office, see our Prudential Financial internship guide.

When Do PGIM Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
PGIM recruits for one summer in several waves. For summer 2027, the Fixed Income Summer Investment Analyst postings went up in January 2026: Trackr recorded the window as January 16 to 31, and the Portfolio Analysis Group posting gave a January 30, 2026 deadline. Credit and real estate investment roles followed, "open from July 17-August 14, 2026," with superdays through September. Operations, product, client and sales internships opened September 1 and closed by late September. A three-day Sophomore Externship sits in front of all of this: the January 2027 edition includes first-round interviews for the 2028 summer program, and its applications have already closed. Only one January window is documented, so treat the summer 2028 dates below as projections.
Summer 2027 is closed at PGIM, and applications for the January 2027 Sophomore Externship have also closed. No US internship is posted. Applications for summer 2028 aren't open yet; the next expected window is Fixed Income in mid-January 2027.
Decide which three programs you'll use your applications on, since PGIM caps each recruiting season at three. Practice short recorded answers for the video interview, and from early January check the PGIM board by title every few days.
Fixed Income Summer Investment Analyst applications for summer 2028 are expected, about 17 months before the internship. For summer 2027 the window ran about two weeks, from January 16 to a January 30, 2026 deadline.
Credit and real estate investment roles for summer 2028 are expected to open in mid-July 2027 for about four weeks, with superdays in September. Operations, product, client and sales internships for summer 2028 are expected from about September 1, 2027.
The internship: 10 weeks, expected early June to mid-August 2028. PGIM's investment businesses use the internship as the main feeder into their full-time Analyst programs.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
PGIM's windows are short, even though it reviews on a rolling basis. Last cycle's Fixed Income posting ran about two weeks, to a January 30, 2026 deadline. The credit and real estate roles were open four weeks, July 17 to August 14, 2026, and Built In shows the Private Credit posting removed on August 26. Every posting adds that PGIM may "close earlier based on volume or role availability," and interview invitations go out "on a rolling basis as applications are assessed." The three-application cap makes timing matter more: you can't spread across a dozen PGIM postings late. Set a reminder for the first week of January 2027, have your resume final before then, and apply in the first days the summer 2028 posting appears.
Which PGIM Internship Programs Should You Target?
These are the US programs PGIM posted for summer 2027. Expect the summer 2028 list to look similar, though PGIM hasn't published it.
| Program | Focus | When it opened (2027 cycle) | Pay and location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public Fixed Income Summer Investment Analyst: Portfolio Analysis Group | Risk exposures, portfolio construction and performance attribution | January 2026 (Jan 30 deadline); second posting with a Sep 14, 2026 deadline | $35 to $40/hr; Newark, hybrid; 3.2 minimum GPA |
| Public Fixed Income Summer Investment Analyst: Credit Research Group | Fundamental credit analysis and relative value for portfolio managers | January 2026 | Newark |
| Private Credit Summer Investment Analyst | Corporate Finance, Real Assets, Alternatives, Workouts, Loan Sourcing and Syndication | July 17 to Aug 14, 2026 | $35 to $40/hr; in-office in up to 8 US cities |
| Real Estate Summer Investment Analyst (Agency, Originations) | Multifamily agency loan underwriting and deal management; debt originations | July 17 to Aug 14, 2026 | Agency: Chicago and Arlington, VA; 3.0 minimum GPA |
| Operations Internship | Investment Operations or Fund Operations: transactions, reconciliations, fund accounting | Aug to Sep 2026 | $33/hr; Newark, hybrid |
| Product and Institutional Client Internship | Business development, client reporting, RFPs, product strategy and pricing | Aug to Sep 2026 | $34/hr; Newark |
| Global Wealth Sales Internship | National Sales Desk and internal wholesalers | Sep 2026 (Sep 28 deadline) | $28 to $30/hr; Newark |
PGIM also runs a three-day Sophomore Externship in January (Public and Private Credit, and Real Estate) that leads into interviews for the following-year summer program. Current openings, when there are any, show on the PGIM internships page.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
The summer 2027 postings were consistent on the basics:
• Class year: summer 2027 postings asked for students "graduating between December 2027 and May 2028." The January 2027 externship that feeds summer 2028 asks for December 2028 to May 2029, so summer 2028 is for today's sophomores.
• GPA: a 3.0 minimum on most programs and both externships. The Portfolio Analysis Group asks for a "Minimum 3.2 GPA."
• Major: all majors considered. The Portfolio Analysis Group prefers operations research, financial engineering, math, statistics, finance or economics; Real Estate prefers finance, economics or real estate.
• Work authorization: "Prudential does not provide visa sponsorship for this position," on every PGIM posting we read.
• Application cap: "you are only able to apply to 3 positions per recruitment season," and all applications must be submitted in one sitting.

Is PGIM's 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff?
Treat it as one. PGIM writes it as "Minimum GPA of 3.0" or "Minimum 3.0 GPA required," not as a preference, and the Portfolio Analysis Group sets its floor at 3.2. That's different from Prudential's corporate tracks, which say "preferred." If you're below the line, spend your three applications where the stated minimum fits.

Which group is your school closest to?

Is your major finance, economics, accounting or business?
Math and statistics count too. Major is not a hard filter, but it shifts how much your coursework has to prove.
How many internships, externships or research positions have you held so far?
Count anything with a real employer, mentor or principal investigator attached. Retail and food service do not count.
Has any of that experience been finance-related?
Banking, PE or VC, corporate finance, wealth management, equity research, accounting or consulting. Any size of firm counts.
Are you in a finance club, investment fund or case competition team?

What Skills Does PGIM Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
PGIM's postings describe hands-on investment work. Private Credit interns conduct "industry and company research," create financial models and write investment recommendations. Real Estate Agency interns analyze multifamily loans and build "Excel-based financial models." The Portfolio Analysis Group works on risk exposures and performance attribution and asks for Excel, with Bloomberg a plus. The non-investment programs lean on research, data analysis and client communication.

All PGIM Workday postings were closed by November 1, 2026, so the text was read from copies of the employer's postings on job boards. Investment programs are five of the eight texts, which weights the chart toward modeling and credit work.

For PGIM applicants: PGIM's board listed no US internships on November 1, 2026, and its summer 2028 postings aren't expected before mid-January 2027. Use the gap to finish one piece of credit or modeling work you can discuss in a recorded interview.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each PGIM skill maps to a remote Externship that leaves you with finished work to discuss.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial modeling and investment recommendations | Private Credit: "Creating financial models" and "Writing investment recommendations" | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Company research and screening | Private Credit: "Conducting industry and company research" | Mangusta Capital Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
| Valuation, reporting and reconciliation | Operations: "Analyze data, identify trends, and assist with reporting and reconciliations" | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation |
| Market and competitor research | Product and Institutional Client: "Conduct research on investment products, competitors, and industry trends" | HP Tech Ventures Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
The modeling project is the closest match for the credit programs. The deal sourcing projects are venture-stage work, not credit, but they give you the research and screening practice the postings name.
What Is the PGIM Application and Interview Process Like?
PGIM publishes its process on its internships page, and the 2027 postings add the timing:
1. Apply to up to three roles. PGIM limits each recruiting season to three applications, submitted in one sitting.
2. Recorded video interview. If selected, you get one interview link per business you applied to, with "behavioral and skills-based questions." PGIM doesn't allow GenAI during assessments or interviews.
3. Final rounds. Each business picks its own finalists, in person or virtual. For the 2027 real estate roles, "Superday interviews are scheduled throughout the month of September."
4. Externship route. Sophomores selected for the January Sophomore Externship complete first-round interviews for the next summer program during the event.
5. Offer. Interview invitations and decisions go out on a rolling basis as applications are assessed.
Prepare one clear answer on why that specific business, since each video interview is business-aligned. For the banks and funds that recruit summer 2028 on a similar calendar, see our finance internships summer 2028 guide.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit discussion of PGIM is thin, but these three threads are first-hand from applicants.
An applicant for the 2026 Real Estate Summer Investment Analyst Program said the HireVue invite described pre-recorded behavioral and critical-thinking questions. Replies said it's mostly behavioral, sometimes with a pattern-recognition test.
Summer 2027 private credit applicants were doing the HireVue in mid-August 2026, and by late August were asking whether anyone had heard back about superdays.
A student applied to the PGIM Fixed Income externship in summer 2024, did a HireVue first round, and was still waiting two weeks later.
How Do You Stand Out for a PGIM Internship?
Three moves. First, apply in January, not in the fall. For Fixed Income, the summer 2027 window closed on January 30, 2026, about 17 months before the internship. Most students start looking much later. Second, spend your three applications on purpose. Pick businesses whose work you can talk about: credit research and portfolio analytics in Fixed Income, middle-market lending in Private Credit, multifamily debt in Real Estate. Each video interview is business-specific, so a generic answer costs you. Third, show the work the postings name. Build a small model, write a one-page investment recommendation on a bond issuer or a borrower, and be ready to walk through it. If you're a first-year student, mark next August on your calendar for the Sophomore Externship, which leads straight into first-round interviews. PGIM publishes no class size, acceptance rate or conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2027 PGIM internship?
Almost certainly not. Every US summer 2027 program we tracked has closed, and PGIM's board listed no US internships on November 1, 2026. PGIM says its spring season opens in January, so check then for any leftover seats. The next full cycle is summer 2028, with Fixed Income expected around mid-January 2027.
When do PGIM internship applications open for summer 2028?
In waves, if PGIM repeats last cycle. Fixed Income is expected around mid-January 2027, about 17 months ahead. Credit and real estate investment roles are expected mid-July to mid-August 2027, and operations, product, client and sales roles from about September 2027. PGIM hasn't confirmed these dates.
What is the PGIM Sophomore Externship?
It's a three-day on-site event at Prudential's Newark headquarters for sophomores, with travel and lodging covered. The January 5-7, 2027 edition covers Public and Private Credit, and Real Estate, and includes first-round interviews for the 2028 summer program. Applications for it have closed; it isn't related to Extern's remote Externships.
Does PGIM hire interns on a rolling basis?
It reviews on a rolling basis inside short windows. Postings say PGIM reviews applications "on a rolling basis" and may close early "based on volume or role availability." Last cycle's Fixed Income window ran about two weeks, and credit and real estate roles about four. Apply in the first days a posting appears.
What internship programs does PGIM offer?
For summer 2027, PGIM posted Summer Investment Analyst Programs in Public Fixed Income (Portfolio Analysis and Credit Research), Private Credit and Real Estate, plus Operations, Product and Institutional Client, and Global Wealth Sales internships. All ran 10 weeks. Jennison Associates runs its own 10-week program.
How much do PGIM interns get paid?
PGIM publishes hourly rates in its postings. For summer 2027, Private Credit paid $35 to $40 an hour, the Portfolio Analysis Group $35 to $40, Product and Institutional Client $34, Operations $33, and Global Wealth Sales $28 to $30. Summer 2028 rates aren't published yet.
What GPA does PGIM require, and does it sponsor visas?
Most PGIM programs set a 3.0 minimum GPA, and the Portfolio Analysis Group sets 3.2. Both are written as minimums, not preferences. PGIM doesn't sponsor visas: every posting we read says candidates must already have US work authorization. You can apply to at most three roles per season.
Is a PGIM internship the same as a Prudential internship?
No. PGIM is Prudential's asset management business, and it posts its own programs on the same Workday system. Prudential's corporate internships, such as actuarial, finance and the Chief Investment Office program, are separate, recruit on a later calendar and are covered in our Prudential Financial internship guide.
PGIM's first summer 2028 window is expected around mid-January 2027 and ran about two weeks last cycle. Use the time before it: a remote Externship gives you a finished model or research piece to bring to a January application.
