Lamb Weston runs its whole US summer internship intake through one posting, and for summer 2027 that posting gives itself a short life. The "Lamb Weston Summer Internship Program (2027)" requisition went up on 18 September 2026, was still live on 3 October, and states an anticipated close date of 27 October 2026. That's about a month earlier than last cycle's estimate of 28 November 2025. Interns are paid $22.00 an hour, work May to August, get a mentor and a department, and finish with a capstone presentation.

In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027. Lamb Weston is the Eagle, Idaho maker of frozen potato products that Conagra spun off in 2016, with $6.61 billion in fiscal 2026 net sales (results release) and a team of 10,000+ people. Two filters matter before you start: only juniors, seniors and recent graduates qualify, and Lamb Weston doesn't sponsor visas for interns.

Applications for summer 2027 are open now through one umbrella posting with an anticipated close of 27 October 2026. Lamb Weston calls that date a good-faith estimate, so it could come down earlier. Apply this month and name the track you want.

What Is a Lamb Weston Internship?

A Lamb Weston internship is a paid summer program, May to August, where you're paired with a mentor, placed in a department that matches your major and goals, and work on real business projects that end in a capstone presentation. It's run through a single evergreen posting rather than one req per role, and Lamb Weston says the volume and mix of tracks "vary each year based on business need".

The tracks go well beyond the office. Past agriculture interns worked with the raw potato grading crew, ran variety trials and field scouting, and mapped research plots with GIS. An Ag Analytics intern automated data pipelines and built Power BI dashboards for crop sourcing decisions on "billions of pounds of potatoes". Engineering, food science, packaging, EHS and supply chain interns typically work in the Tri-Cities area of Washington or at Idaho plants. The company sells to restaurants, food service providers and households in more than 100 countries.

When Do Lamb Weston Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Lamb Weston recruits most of its interns through one fall posting. Last cycle the same requisition, then titled "(2026)", was live by 30 September 2025, when Washington State University hosted a Lamb Weston internship info session, and carried an anticipated close of 28 November 2025. This cycle it was retitled "(2027)", posted on 18 September 2026, and its anticipated close moved about a month earlier, to 27 October 2026. Interviews are expected to start in late fall 2026 and run into spring 2027. In past cycles Lamb Weston also posted a few track-specific intern reqs later in the year, such as an Ag Analytics intern on 23 January 2026 and an Agriculture intern on 1 May 2025, so a smaller second wave is expected around January to May 2027. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open around September 2027.

Applications for summer 2027 are open right now through Req-230467, which was live on 3 October. It's the main door for every track, from agronomy to engineering to marketing.

27 October 2026 (anticipated close)SHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

The req's own anticipated close for summer 2027 applications. Lamb Weston calls it a good-faith estimate that can move earlier or later, so treat it as the latest safe date, not a guarantee.

Late fall 2026 to spring 2027EXPECTED

Interviews, which the req says are expected to start in late fall 2026. Placement is by department, based on your goals, education and skills.

January to May 2027EXPECTED

A possible second chance: in past cycles a few track-specific intern reqs posted in this window, each open for about two months. Set an alert on the careers site.

Summer 2027

A paid May to August internship at $22.00 an hour with a mentor, professional development events and a capstone presentation. The summer 2028 umbrella req is expected to post around September 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

This is a short window. The umbrella req posted on 18 September and estimates its own close for 27 October, roughly five and a half weeks, and that estimate moved a month earlier than last year's. Lamb Weston also warns that jobs "may be unposted or filled earlier" than the anticipated date, depending on interviews and business needs.

There's a second reason to move now. Because every track runs through one posting, the people hiring for agronomy, engineering and finance are all reading the same applicant pool, and interviews start in late fall. Later track-specific reqs have appeared in past years, but they're few, and you can't count on one for your field.

Which Lamb Weston Internship Programs Should You Target?

The umbrella req lists the tracks below as examples "but not limited to" them. Say which one you want in your application, since placement is by department.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Lamb Weston's umbrella req has more hard filters than most, and three of them screen people out before any interview:

• Class year: you must be a current junior, senior or recent graduate, enrolled in or recently finished a bachelor's, master's or PhD program. Freshmen and sophomores aren't eligible.

• Driver's license: a valid US driver's license and the ability to pass a driving record check are required, since some travel is part of the job.

• Work authorization: interns "must be authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future". That excludes students who'll need sponsorship later, including many on F-1 status.

• Skills: interest or skill in the track's area, relationship building, problem solving, conflict management, analytical and communication skills, and Microsoft Office.

Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?

No GPA appears on the summer 2027 umbrella req. Past track-specific reqs, the 2025 Agriculture Intern and the 2026 Ag Analytics Intern, listed a 3.0 minimum as preferred, not required. In practice, the class-year, driver's license and sponsorship filters matter far more than GPA. A strong record in your track, such as crop science, food science lab work or a process engineering project, carries the most weight.

What Skills Does Lamb Weston Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Lamb Weston's intern postings stress working across teams and communicating clearly before any technical skill. The umbrella req asks for "relationship building, problem-solving, and conflict management", "strong analytical and communication skills" and the ability to work in a cross-functional team. The technical layer depends on the track: the Ag Analytics req asked for data pipelines, ETL automation, API connections and Power BI dashboards, and the Agriculture req for remote sensing and GIS. The entry-level Associate Engineer and Team Leader, Production programs that interns can grow into add production quality, safety and cost standards.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

The umbrella req asks applicants to show "interest, or skill in the area related to the corresponding internship". A finished project in that area is the clearest proof, and each row maps to a remote Externship that produces one.

With the window closing in October, apply first. A winter externship still helps if your interview lands in spring, or if a track-specific req posts later.

What Is the Lamb Weston Application and Interview Process Like?

Lamb Weston publishes only part of its process. Here's what the req and past cycles show:

1. Apply to the umbrella req. The careers page hands off to Lamb Weston's Workday site. Apply before the anticipated close of 27 October 2026.

2. Name your track. Interns are "aligned to a department based on their career aspirations, education, and skills", so say which function you want and why.

3. Interviews. Expected to start in late fall 2026 and run into spring 2027. Lamb Weston doesn't publish the interview format.

4. Placement and offer. You're paired with a mentor in your department. Start dates vary by department within May to August.

5. Watch for track reqs. Separate intern reqs have posted between January and May in past cycles; career centers near the Tri-Cities and Idaho have also hosted Lamb Weston info sessions.

With no published interview format, prepare as you would for any behavioral round: two or three stories about a project you owned, a team conflict you resolved and a problem you analyzed.

What Interns Say on Handshake

Reddit has no first-hand threads about Lamb Weston's internship, so these cards come from former interns' reviews on Handshake, written between 2019 and 2022.

A 2022 Process Engineer intern in Richland led their own project for twelve weeks, picking motors and pumps, welding a test cart and designing in SolidWorks. Their advice: don't expect to sit behind a desk, and go work with other departments.

An Ag Operations intern in Twin Falls in 2021 praised the mentorship and work-life balance and said feedback came all along the way, but stressed it wasn't a typical internship: interns are expected to contribute like part of the team.

Interns in 2019 and 2022 said they were treated like regular employees and had strong mentors. Two wishes came up: a formal feedback session, and more networking with headquarters for interns based away from Eagle.

How Do You Stand Out for a Lamb Weston Internship?

Three moves, all doable before 27 October.

First, pick a track and say so. One posting feeds a dozen departments, and placement depends on your stated goals and skills. An application that names agronomy, packaging engineering or food science, and shows coursework or a project in it, is easier to route than a general one.

Second, lean into what makes Lamb Weston different. Few food companies run agriculture tracks with potato grading, variety trials and yield modeling. If you study crop science, ag business or data engineering, connect it to how Lamb Weston sources potatoes from partner growers.

Third, show you can own a capstone. Every intern presents one, and past interns say the best summers came from owning a project end to end. Lamb Weston doesn't publish applicant counts or a conversion rate, but its university board carries entry-level Associate Engineer and Team Leader, Production programs, and some of its entry-level reqs ask for at least one internship or co-op.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Lamb Weston internship?

No. Summer 2026 has ended, and that cycle's posting closed in late 2025. What's open now is the summer 2027 program: one umbrella posting, Req-230467, posted 18 September 2026 with an anticipated close of 27 October 2026. Apply before then, since Lamb Weston says postings can come down early.

When do Lamb Weston internship applications close?

The summer 2027 umbrella req lists an anticipated close of 27 October 2026. Lamb Weston calls that a good-faith estimate, so it may close earlier or later. Last cycle's estimate was 28 November 2025, so this year's window is about a month shorter. Interviews start in late fall 2026.

How much do Lamb Weston interns make?

$22.00 an hour, per the pay-transparency statement in the summer 2027 req. The same $22.00 rate appeared in the 2025 and 2026 intern reqs, so it's held flat for three cycles. The internship is full time from May to August, with dates varying by department.

Who is eligible for a Lamb Weston internship?

Current juniors, seniors and recent graduates of a bachelor's, master's or PhD program. You also need a valid US driver's license, a clean driving record, and US work authorization without visa sponsorship now or in the future. Freshmen and sophomores aren't eligible for the summer 2027 program.

What internship tracks does Lamb Weston offer?

The req lists agricultural sciences and agronomy, data science, engineering, environmental science, finance and internal audit, food science and quality, health and safety, IT, marketing, manufacturing, packaging engineering, and procurement and supply chain. Lamb Weston says the volume and types of tracks vary each year with business need.

Where are Lamb Weston internships located?

The summer 2027 req lists Kennewick, Washington and Eagle, Idaho, the global headquarters. Past interns have also worked at the Richland, Washington technical center and at plants in Twin Falls and American Falls, Idaho. Some travel may be required, which is why a driver's license is mandatory.

If I miss the October deadline, is there another chance?

Possibly, but don't count on it. In past cycles Lamb Weston posted a few track-specific intern reqs later, such as an Ag Analytics intern on 23 January 2026 and an Agriculture intern on 1 May 2025. Expect some between January and May 2027, though the fall umbrella req is the main intake.

Does Lamb Weston hire interns full time?

Lamb Weston doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its university board runs two evergreen entry-level programs, Associate Engineer and Team Leader, Production, and some entry-level reqs ask for at least one internship or co-op, so a summer there lines up with those paths.

Lamb Weston's summer 2027 posting estimates a 27 October 2026 close. Apply now, and if you want a finished project to bring to a late-fall interview, a remote Externship takes about 8 weeks.
