KeyBank's summer 2027 internships are open right now. On October 26, 2026, its own Workday board listed 11 intern-titled openings, 10 of them "2027 Summer" internships that run May 26 to August 6, 2027. Pay is $23, $25 or $27 an hour depending on the req, plus a $2,000 Summer Internship sign-on bonus. The first 2027 posting went up September 3 and the newest on October 21, so the wave is still building. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and KeyBank's own FAQ recommends applying by October.
What Is a KeyBank Internship?
A KeyBank internship is a paid, 10.5-week summer program at Key, the Cleveland-based bank behind KeyCorp, which reports about $191 billion in assets at June 30, 2026 and about 18,000 full-time-equivalent employees. KeyBank calls it Key's Enterprise Internship. Interns get an assigned mentor, "Learning Labs" with internal and external speakers, and in the Commercial Bank and Real Estate Capital tracks a capstone project presented to leadership. Key says it hires interns from all majors, not only finance. It doesn't publish a class size or a conversion rate.
When Do KeyBank Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
KeyBank's summer 2027 wave started on September 3, 2026, when the Denver Commercial Bank (Credit) req went up, and it was still adding reqs on October 21, when the Marketing Analytics and Graphic Design internships appeared. Counting from the first posting to the May 26, 2027 start, the lead time is about 8.7 months; the newest req sits about 7.2 months out. Key's FAQ says on-campus recruiting runs through the fall, with interviews from the end of September to early December. Its students page says recruiting "begins in the spring", which doesn't match the board, so we go by the board. We couldn't find last cycle's posting dates on KeyBank's own pages, so the summer 2028 window is a projection from one cycle.
Applications are open. On October 26, 2026, 10 "2027 Summer" internships plus a Surveillance Intern role were live on KeyBank's Workday board, in Cleveland, Brooklyn OH, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Buffalo and Overland Park.
Printed posting windows. The Atlanta and Buffalo Commercial Bank reqs print October 30, Salt Lake City November 6, Marketing Analytics and Graphic Design November 13, Atlanta Real Estate Capital November 20 and Surveillance December 3. These aren't hard closes, since four reqs stayed live past their dates, but don't wait for them.
Interviews. Key says interviews run from the end of September through early December: a series of phone, video or in-person conversations, then an in-person final round at an office, with "super interview days" for campus recruiting.
May 26 to August 6, 2027: 10.5 weeks with feedback and coaching, Learning Labs, a mentor, and a capstone presented to leadership in the Commercial Bank and Real Estate Capital tracks.
Summer 2028 postings expected, if the 2026 pattern repeats. We observed only one cycle, so treat this as low confidence and watch the Workday board from late August.
