Last updated: October 2026
Guidehouse doesn't run one internship application. It posts one requisition per consulting practice, and each one carries its own end date. On October 12, 2026, the Guidehouse job board listed five summer 2027 intern postings, and four of them state when they come down: Energy Providers on October 15, 2026, State and Local Government and CDC Federal Health Advisory on October 16, 2026, and Life Sciences Advisory on October 19, 2026. Federal Civilian Agencies states no end date. In plain words: you apply during 2026 (for some practices, early 2027), and you intern in summer 2027.
If you're reading this after one of those dates, that practice's posting has closed, and the board shows what's still live. More practices are expected to post for summer 2027 through about February 2027, because last cycle a federal health posting was still being shared in late January 2026. The program runs 10 weeks, anticipated June 7 to August 13, 2027.
What Is a Guidehouse Internship?
A Guidehouse internship is a paid, 10-week summer program in which you join one consulting practice, such as federal health, state and local government, energy or life sciences, and work on that team's client projects. Guidehouse says its US program is for "undergraduate juniors, first-year graduate students, or penultimate year PhD candidates." It isn't rotational: the firm's early career page says "you'll be part of a team aligned to your specific interests," and each intern gets a buddy, mid-point and final evaluations, a speaker series and a capstone presented to senior leaders.
Guidehouse formed in 2018 from PwC's US public sector practice and has been owned by Bain Capital Private Equity since December 2023. That's the investment firm, not the consultancy Bain & Company. Vault's 2026 rankings place Guidehouse #44 among the Most Prestigious Consulting Firms in North America and #6 among the Best Consulting Firms for Public Sector Consulting. The firm also reports a RippleMatch Campus Forward Award for internship programming three years running. It doesn't publish an intern class size or acceptance rate.

When Do Guidehouse Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Guidehouse's summer 2027 postings went up one practice at a time: Energy Providers on September 4, 2026, State and Local Government on September 16, Federal Civilian Agencies on September 28, CDC Federal Health Advisory on October 5 and Life Sciences Advisory on October 6. That's about eight to nine months before the anticipated June 7, 2027 start. One applicant on Reddit reports applying to Guidehouse for summer 2027 in early August 2026, so at least one posting was up by then.
Last cycle the postings kept coming into winter. A State and Local Government posting for summer 2026 was being shared by a Guidehouse employee around mid-September 2025, and a Health and Human Services posting for summer 2026 around late January 2026. On that pattern, more practices are expected to post for summer 2027 through about February 2027.
Applications for summer 2027 are open practice by practice. On October 12, 2026, the board listed five intern postings: Energy Providers, State and Local Government, Federal Civilian Agencies, CDC Federal Health Advisory and Life Sciences Advisory. Each has its own end date, listed in the next step.
Stated end dates for four summer 2027 postings: Energy Providers on October 15, 2026; State and Local Government and CDC Federal Health Advisory on October 16, 2026; Life Sciences Advisory on October 19, 2026. Federal Civilian Agencies states no end date. A posting whose date has passed is closed.
More practices are expected to post for summer 2027, projected from last cycle's late January 2026 federal health posting. Each stays up for a few weeks, so check the board's Intern filter weekly. Interviews for the October postings are expected in this stretch.
The separate summer 2027 track for PhD candidates is expected to close around March 2027, with decisions around April. That estimate comes from one cycle of applicant reports on Reddit, so treat it as low confidence.
The internship runs 10 weeks, anticipated Monday, June 7 to Friday, August 13, 2027. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to start appearing around August to September 2027.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
At Guidehouse the reason to move fast isn't rolling review. It's the end date on each requisition. Four of the five summer 2027 postings state one, and two of the windows were very short: CDC Federal Health Advisory was posted October 5 with an October 16, 2026 end date (11 days), and Life Sciences Advisory was posted October 6 with an October 19, 2026 end date (13 days). Energy Providers had 41 days and State and Local Government 30.
There's also no general intern posting to fall back on. If your practice's date passes, your next chance is a different practice or the next summer. So check the board's Intern filter weekly from August, and apply the week your practice appears.
Which Guidehouse Internship Programs Should You Target?
Guidehouse interns apply to a practice, not to a general pool. These are the summer 2027 postings on its board as of October 12, 2026, plus the separate PhD track.
| Posting (summer 2027) | Focus | Locations | Posted and end date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intern, Energy Providers | Utilities and energy companies: research, benchmarking, market research, economic modeling | Atlanta, San Francisco, New York, Folsom, Arlington, Austin, Chicago, Boulder, Boston | Posted Sep 4, 2026; end date Oct 15, 2026 |
| Intern, State and Local Government | States, counties, cities and nonprofits: strategy, process improvement, financial and operational modeling | Boston, New York, Arlington, Austin, Chicago, Sacramento, Houston, Atlanta | Posted Sep 16, 2026; end date Oct 16, 2026 |
| Intern, Federal Civilian Agencies | Federal civilian clients: data analysis, client interviews, recommendations on operations | Arlington and McLean, VA | Posted Sep 28, 2026; no end date stated |
| Intern, CDC, Federal Health Advisory | Federal health agencies: process improvement, analytics, project support. Public Trust required | Atlanta | Posted Oct 5, 2026; end date Oct 16, 2026 |
| Intern, Life Sciences Advisory (Health segment) | Pharma, biotech and device clients: physician and payer interviews, market research, pricing and commercialization | New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston | Posted Oct 6, 2026; end date Oct 19, 2026 |
| Summer program for PhD candidates | Separate advanced-degree track; applicant reports come from life sciences | Not published | Expected to close around Mar 2027 for summer 2027 (community-reported, low confidence) |
Graduating seniors have a separate door: on October 12, 2026 the same board carried nine full-time Campus 2027 postings titled Consulting Analyst or Consultant, in the same five practices. Guidehouse also runs internships in London, Utrecht, Berlin and the UAE on their own terms; see its internship page.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
The five summer 2027 postings share a core but differ on work authorization, so read your own requisition:
• Class year: Guidehouse names undergraduate juniors, first-year graduate students and penultimate-year PhD candidates. The postings require you to stay enrolled through fall 2027 and graduate by summer 2028.
• Degree level: bachelor's or master's students on the Federal Civilian Agencies and Life Sciences postings; the CDC posting says bachelor's degree.
• Work authorization: none of the five offers sponsorship. Federal Civilian Agencies and State and Local Government say "No current or future sponsorship is available." Life Sciences and CDC add that "Students possessing F-1 or J-1 visas are excluded." Energy Providers says "Applicants must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident."
• Clearance: the CDC posting requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Federal Civilian Agencies, State and Local Government and Life Sciences list clearance as "None."
• Work model and travel: on-site in a Guidehouse or client office. Travel is up to 10% on three postings and up to 25% for Life Sciences.
• Experience: 0 years on every posting.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at Guidehouse?
Not a published one. None of the five summer 2027 postings states a GPA minimum, and Guidehouse's internship page doesn't either. That doesn't mean grades are ignored: the Federal Civilian Agencies posting asks for "proven academic success" in its preferred majors. The gates that are written down are the graduation window, the no-sponsorship lines and, for federal health work, the Public Trust. If you're an international student, the authorization line is the one to read first, because it rules out F-1 and J-1 holders on two postings and requires citizenship or permanent residency on a third.

What Skills Does Guidehouse Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Across the five summer 2027 postings, three things repeat. Client deliverables and communication are in all five: Federal Civilian Agencies interns "develop work products that clearly synthesize information into recommendations," and Life Sciences interns take part in "document writing, production, and client presentations." Analysis comes next. Postings ask for quantitative and qualitative analysis, and three name financial or economic analysis and modeling. Tools are light. PowerPoint and Excel appear in three postings (Federal Civilian Agencies adds Word and Visio), and only two name analytics software: Energy Providers lists R, SQL and Analytica, and CDC Federal Health calls SAS, R, Python or SQL "a plus." Three postings also name client interviews or stakeholder management, such as Life Sciences interviews with physicians and payers.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each Guidehouse skill below maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project to discuss in interviews.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Health data analysis | Life Sciences: "gathering and analyzing medical literature, healthcare market reports and databases"; CDC Federal Health: SAS, R, Python or SQL "a plus" | TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics |
| Strategy recommendations | Federal Civilian Agencies: "Develop work products that clearly synthesize information into recommendations for client improvements" | Lean Startup Co. Corporate Strategy Externship Mentored by Eric Ries |
| Operations analysis | Federal Civilian Agencies: "optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of operations"; State and Local Government: operational analysis and process improvement | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Document research with AI tools | Federal Civilian Agencies: "Research of client source documentation and industry leading practices" | Pfizer Advanced: AI-Powered Document Insights & Data Extraction |
The health match is the closest. Two of the five postings sit in Guidehouse's health work, and a completed healthcare data project gives you something concrete for the "interest in the industry" question.
What Is the Guidehouse Application and Interview Process Like?
Guidehouse publishes a five-step process on its internship page. Candidate reports add a little detail on the interviews:
1. Join the Talent Community. Guidehouse lists your university's career network, such as Handshake or Symplicity, as the first step.
2. Apply to one practice's posting. Use the career network or the Guidehouse Workday portal, and submit before the end date on the requisition.
3. Initial interview. On campus or virtual, per Guidehouse.
4. Final round. Virtual or in person. Candidates on Reddit describe case-style interviews followed by a final conversation with a partner.
5. Offer. You can check your status at any point by signing in to your Guidehouse Workday account.
For the behavioral half, our behavioral interview guide covers the STAR format.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit has a few first-hand Guidehouse intern threads, mostly about interviews and waiting to hear back.
One candidate said they passed two case-study interviews and were invited to a final round with a partner, then heard nothing after the holidays despite following up twice. Another commenter's advice for the partner round: expect behavioral questions and bring thoughtful questions of your own.
In the summer program for PhD candidates, one applicant applied the day before the deadline and got an interview invite on March 31. Another said the recruiter expected decisions in mid to late April.
A student applying for summer 2027 said they sent a Guidehouse application between August 4 and 6, 2026 and were still waiting for a reply about two weeks later.
How Do You Stand Out for a Guidehouse Internship?
Three moves. First, choose the practice before you apply. You're hired into one team, so read that posting's gates: the graduation window, the authorization line, and the Public Trust for federal health work. Say why that client base interests you. The Energy Providers posting asks for "curiosity about the energy industry," and State and Local Government wants coursework or projects on how government works. Second, show a deliverable. All five postings describe turning research and analysis into client recommendations, so bring one project where you did that and can walk through the slides. Excel and PowerPoint matter more here than code. Third, prepare for cases and for a senior interviewer. Candidates report case-style interviews and a partner final. Apply through Handshake as well as Workday, since the firm lists the campus network first. Guidehouse publishes no applicant count, class size or conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Guidehouse internship?
No. The summer 2026 program is over. The cycle to apply for is summer 2027: Guidehouse posted five practice requisitions between September 4 and October 6, 2026, and four of them state end dates of October 15, 16 or 19, 2026. More practices are expected to post through about February 2027.
When do Guidehouse internship applications open for summer 2027?
They opened practice by practice, from Energy Providers on September 4, 2026 to Life Sciences Advisory on October 6, 2026, and one applicant reports applying in early August. More practices are expected to post for summer 2027 through about February 2027, based on a late January 2026 posting last cycle.
What is the Guidehouse internship application deadline?
It's set per posting, not firm-wide. For summer 2027, Energy Providers states an end date of October 15, 2026, State and Local Government and CDC Federal Health Advisory state October 16, 2026, and Life Sciences Advisory states October 19, 2026. Federal Civilian Agencies states none. Read the end date on your own requisition.
How much do Guidehouse interns make?
Two of the five summer 2027 postings, State and Local Government and Life Sciences Advisory, publish an annual salary range of $59,000 to $98,000. That's an annualized figure for a 10-week role, and Guidehouse doesn't publish an hourly intern rate. The other three postings list no pay at all.
Does Guidehouse sponsor international students for internships?
No. None of the five summer 2027 postings offers sponsorship. Federal Civilian Agencies and State and Local Government say no current or future sponsorship is available, Life Sciences and CDC Federal Health exclude F-1 and J-1 visa holders by name, and Energy Providers requires US citizenship or permanent residency.
What GPA do you need for a Guidehouse internship?
Guidehouse doesn't state one. None of the five summer 2027 postings lists a GPA minimum. The written gates are enrollment through fall 2027 with graduation by summer 2028, work authorization without sponsorship, and for the CDC Federal Health posting the ability to obtain a Public Trust.
What is the Guidehouse internship interview process like?
Guidehouse describes an initial interview, on campus or virtual, then a final round, virtual or in person, then an offer. On Reddit, one candidate described two case-study interviews before a final round with a partner, and another advised preparing behavioral answers and good questions. Those details are community-reported, not official.
Do Guidehouse interns get full-time offers?
Guidehouse says interns have an opportunity to join full-time after graduation, and one posting mentions conversion offers, but it publishes no conversion rate. The entry titles are Consulting Analyst and Consultant. Nine full-time Campus 2027 postings with those titles were on the same board on October 12, 2026.
Guidehouse closes each practice's posting on a stated date, so apply before yours and keep checking the board for later practices. While you wait, build a project you can walk through in a case interview: a remote Externship gives you finished health data, strategy or operations work.
