Last updated: October 2026

Grassi's summer 2027 internship is open now, and the posting prints a pay rate. On October 12, 2026, the firm's job board listed two student roles: a Summer 2027 Internship in Audit or Tax covering Jericho and New York City, NY, Park Ridge, NJ, and Chelmsford, MA, and a Winter 2027 Tax Internship in Braintree, MA. The summer posting says the New York rate is $35 an hour. It gives no figure for New Jersey or Massachusetts.

In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027. The summer posting went up on September 9, 2026, about 9 months before the June start. If you want something sooner and you're near Boston, the winter role runs January to April 2027 at 20 to 30 hours a week. Neither posting states a deadline. The sources disagree on how long the summer program is, so this guide goes by the posting, which says six weeks.

What Is a Grassi Internship?

A Grassi internship is a paid audit or tax role at Grassi, a New York-area advisory, tax and accounting firm, where students train alongside new associates and then work on client engagements in small teams. The summer program starts with a week of training for the whole intern class, gives each intern a buddy, and ends with a networking and interview project. A separate part-time tax internship runs during the January to April busy season in some offices.

Grassi was founded in 1980 by Louis C. Grassi and became employee-owned through an ESOP in 2023. Its about page lists more than 600 professionals and a #52 ranking among US accounting firms from INSIDE Public Accounting. Grassi is ranked #21 on the Vault Accounting 25 (2027 edition). The firm also runs a two-day Leadership Program for sophomores and juniors, which is a recruiting event and not an internship.

When Do Grassi Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Grassi has one summer intake and smaller busy-season openings. The summer 2027 posting was first published on September 9, 2026, about 9 months before the June 2027 start. The winter 2027 tax internship in Braintree was published on September 14, 2026, about 3.5 months before its January start. Both were live on October 12, 2026, and neither prints a closing date. The firm's campus recruiting page listed fall 2026 visits to Adelphi, Stonehill, Hofstra, Stony Brook, UMass Lowell, Ramapo and Long Island University. Its Leadership Program page gives the dates January 7 to January 8 without a year, which we read as January 2027. Only this one cycle's posting dates could be documented, so the summer 2028 estimate rests on a single year.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HEREROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

Applications for summer 2027 are open right now in audit or tax, for Jericho, New York City, Park Ridge and Chelmsford. The winter 2027 tax internship in Braintree, which starts in January 2027, is open too. Neither posting states a deadline.

Apply first. Alongside it, the Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship or the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship gives you a finished project to talk about in interviews. Externships are run by Extern, not by Grassi.
January 7 to 8, 2027EXPECTED

The Leadership Program for sophomores and juniors takes place at the Jericho office, where participants also interview for future internships. The page prints the dates without a year, so confirm them when you email your resume.

January to April 2027

The winter 2027 busy-season tax internship runs in Braintree, MA, at 20 to 30 hours a week. Interns help prepare individual, partnership and corporate returns.

June to August 2027

The summer 2027 internship runs for six weeks, per the posting: a first week of training, then client engagements, team events, service-line presentations and a closing networking and interview project.

Early to mid September 2027EXPECTEDROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

The posting for summer 2028 is expected, projected from the September 9, 2026 publish date. Winter 2028 tax internships may post around the same time, office by office. Both are estimates from one documented cycle.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Grassi's postings are rolling: neither one states a deadline, a review date or a class size. That leaves you without a date to plan around, so the posting date is the best guide. The summer 2027 role has been open since September 9, 2026, and the firm's campus visits ran through September and October. Students who met recruiters at those events may already have applied.

The summer posting is also a single listing for four offices and two service lines. It doesn't say how seats are split between audit and tax, or between Long Island, Manhattan, New Jersey and Massachusetts. If you have a preferred office, apply while every option is still open and say which one you want. Busy-season tax internships are different again. They appear office by office when a tax team needs help, so check the openings page from September onward if Braintree isn't your location.

Which Grassi Internship Programs Should You Target?

Grassi has two internships on its board and one short program for younger students.

The firm's summer program page describes the internship as for senior and graduate-level students with June to July dates, which is narrower than the posting. We go by the posting. Details of the two-day event are on the Leadership Program page.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The summer 2027 posting sets these requirements:

• Class year: junior or senior students graduating within the next 12 to 18 months.

• Degree: a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.

• CPA path: a master's degree, or a plan to complete 150 credit hours to become CPA licensed.

• GPA: a minimum of 3.0. The winter tax posting sets the same floor.

• Work authorization: both postings say Grassi doesn't sponsor or transfer work visas.

• Winter tax only: availability of 20 to 30 hours a week from January to April.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff at Grassi?

Treat it as one. Both postings list a 3.0 minimum, and we found no Grassi statement about exceptions. The gate that catches more students is class year. The posting wants juniors or seniors who'll graduate within 12 to 18 months of applying, while the firm's program page says seniors and graduate students. If you're a sophomore, the January Leadership Program is the route the firm offers, and it includes interviews for later internships.

What Skills Does Grassi Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Grassi's two intern postings ask more about how you work than which tools you know. Both want an accounting degree in progress, a 3.0 GPA, the ability to work independently and in a team, and strong interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. Neither names software. The work itself is tax-heavy: the summer posting lists preparing corporate, individual and partnership workpapers and portions of returns, and the winter posting adds filing and pulling financial information from clients. Both stress client deliverables that are clear, concise and thorough.

What Is the Grassi Application and Interview Process Like?

Grassi doesn't publish its intern interview format. Here's what the postings and the firm's campus pages show:

1. Apply on the openings page. The summer role is one posting for four offices and for both audit and tax, so say which office and service line you prefer.

2. Meet recruiters on campus. The campus recruiting page listed fall 2026 events at Long Island, New Jersey and Massachusetts schools.

3. Interview. The intern format isn't published. A full-time hire told Vault they met a partner, a manager and an HR representative and got an offer the same day.

4. Training week. Summer interns start together with a week of training and professional education.

5. Client work. Interns join engagements in small teams with associates through managers, each with a buddy.

6. Closing project. The program ends with a networking and interview project.

Sophomores and juniors can start earlier through the January Leadership Program, which includes interviews for future internships. Our behavioral interview guide helps you prepare for either.

What the Community Says

We found no Reddit thread and no intern review about Grassi internships, so there are no community cards here. The nearest first-hand account is a full-time hire's review on Vault's Grassi profile, which describes an interview with three people and a quick callback. Vault's editors also say interns get hands-on experience and a clear picture of full-time work.

How Do You Stand Out for a Grassi Internship?

Three moves. First, show your 150-hour plan. The summer posting asks for a master's degree or a plan to reach 150 credit hours for CPA licensing. Put the plan on your resume so a recruiter doesn't have to ask. Second, name your office and service line. One posting covers Jericho, New York City, Park Ridge and Chelmsford, and both audit and tax. A clear preference makes you easier to place. Third, know the firm's story. Grassi became employee-owned in 2023, and its postings list construction, not-for-profit, healthcare and financial services among its main client sectors. Be ready to say which interests you.

Grassi publishes no applicant count, class size or conversion rate. If you're a sophomore or junior, the two-day Leadership Program in January is worth an email, because participants interview for future internships there.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Grassi internship?

No. Summer 2026 has passed, and Grassi's board now carries the Summer 2027 Internship in Audit or Tax, published on September 9, 2026. It was live on October 12, 2026, with no deadline stated. A Winter 2027 Tax Internship in Braintree, Massachusetts, running January to April 2027, is open as well.

When do Grassi internship applications open?

In September, based on this cycle. Grassi published its summer 2027 internship on September 9, 2026, and its winter 2027 tax internship on September 14, 2026. Expect the summer 2028 posting in early to mid September 2027. That's a projection from one documented cycle, so check the openings page from late August.

How much do Grassi interns make?

The summer 2027 posting states a New York rate of $35 an hour. It prints no rate for the New Jersey or Massachusetts offices on the same posting, so don't assume $35 applies there. The winter 2027 tax internship in Braintree lists a Massachusetts rate of $20 to $30 an hour. Ask your recruiter about your office.

How long is the Grassi summer internship?

Six weeks between June and August, according to the summer 2027 posting. Other sources differ: the firm's program page lists June to July, and an older FAQ that has since been removed described about eight weeks. Go by the posting, and confirm exact start and end dates with your recruiter after an offer.

Who is eligible for the Grassi summer internship?

Juniors or seniors graduating within 12 to 18 months with a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting. The posting also asks for a master's or a plan to complete 150 credit hours, and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Grassi's program page describes it as for senior and graduate-level students, which is narrower than the posting.

Does Grassi sponsor visas for interns?

No. Both the summer 2027 and winter 2027 postings say Grassi doesn't sponsor or transfer work visas. The postings don't describe any exception for student work authorization. If you're an international student, ask Grassi's campus recruiting team directly before you apply, and check your own authorization with a school advisor first.

What is the Grassi Leadership Program?

It's a two-day program at Grassi's Jericho, New York office for sophomores and juniors interested in accounting, and it isn't an internship. Participants see a day in the life at the firm and interview for future internships and full-time roles. The page lists January 7 to January 8, and you apply by emailing a resume.

Do Grassi interns get full-time offers?

Grassi doesn't publish a conversion rate. The summer program takes students who'll graduate within 12 to 18 months, which puts them in line for the firm's next audit and tax associate class, and the program ends with a networking and interview project. Ask about full-time offers and timing during your interview.

Grassi's summer 2027 and winter 2027 postings are open with no stated deadline, so apply now if you qualify. If you're a year or two away, a remote Externship gives you a finished financial modeling or data project to bring to the Leadership Program or your junior-year application.
