Last updated: October 2026
CTBK's 2027 internships are closed. CTBK is Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner LLP, a CPA firm in Amherst, New York, just outside Buffalo. It fills two intern classes a year from one application window, and the firm told Vault it collects applications from August through September. This year that window covered a winter 2027 internship (January to April 15, 2027) and a summer 2027 internship (June to August 2027). On October 12, 2026, its job board listed no internship at all.
In plain words: the next chance to apply is expected in August to September 2027, for a class that starts in January 2028 or June 2028. One student door is open today, the one-day L.E.A.D. Summit on July 15, 2027, which isn't an internship. Last cycle's postings listed pay of $23 an hour.
What Is a CTBK Internship?
A CTBK internship is a paid, part-time position at Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner LLP, a locally owned CPA firm founded in 1994 and based in Amherst, New York. The firm describes itself as having "over 150 talented professionals" serving businesses and high net worth individuals in assurance, accounting, tax and business consulting. Interns don't choose a track. Last cycle's postings described "a mix of tax and audit projects", from tax returns to financial statement audits, reviews and compilations. There are two classes a year: a winter busy-season class and a summer class. Vault ranks the program #25 on its 2026 Best Accounting Internships list and lists the class at 10 to 20 interns. The firm works from a single office, so every intern is on site in the Buffalo area.

When Do CTBK Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
CTBK recruits both of its yearly classes in one window. The firm's entry on Vault says "Applications submissions are collected from August through September." In 2026 that window carried two postings, an Accounting Winter 2027 Internship and an Accounting Summer 2027 Internship, and neither is on the board now. That puts the lead time at about four months for the winter class (January start) and about nine to ten months for the summer class (June start). Applications for winter 2028 and summer 2028 are expected in August to September 2027. That projection rests on one observed cycle plus the firm's standing statement, and the exact open and close days aren't published.
Applications for the winter 2027 and summer 2027 internships were collected. Both postings have since closed and no longer appear on the firm's board.
No internship is posted. The board lists three jobs, and the only student one is the L.E.A.D. Summit, a one-day program on July 15, 2027. A General Application link is on the board all year, but it isn't an internship application.
The classes hired in 2026 do their internships: winter 2027 from January to April 15, and summer 2027 from June to August. The L.E.A.D. Summit takes place on July 15, 2027.
Applications for the winter 2028 and summer 2028 internships are expected to open and close inside these two months, as they did in 2026.
The winter 2028 class is expected to start in January 2028 and run to mid-April. The summer 2028 class is expected to start in June 2028.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
CTBK's hiring is a short window, not a rolling process. The firm's own description on Vault is that applications are collected "from August through September", and the board bears that out. Both 2027 internship postings existed in August and September 2026. By October 12 the board listed neither, and the old link for the winter posting now leads to a page that says "The job listing no longer exists." Vault lists the class at 10 to 20 interns, and one two-month window fills both the winter and the summer class. We don't have the exact open or close day, so don't plan around late September. Check the board from the first week of August 2027 and apply when the postings appear.
Which CTBK Internship Programs Should You Target?
CTBK runs two internships a year with the same mixed tax and audit work, plus one summit for students who aren't interning yet. Details below come from the 2027 postings, which have closed.
| Program | Focus | Dates and hours | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accounting Winter Internship (busy season) | Mix of tax returns and audits, reviews and compilations | January to April 15; at least 20 hours a week; junior standing or higher | 2027 closed. Winter 2028 applications expected Aug to Sep 2027 |
| Accounting Summer Internship | Same mix of tax and audit projects | June to August; 24 hours a week | 2027 closed. Summer 2028 applications expected Aug to Sep 2027 |
| L.E.A.D. Summit (not an internship) | One-day program for accounting students: meet staff and clients, learn about careers at the firm | July 15, 2027; one day | Open now on the job board |
The summit posting says participants can "be considered for future internship positions with the firm". It asks for a 3.0 GPA and CPA exam eligibility on graduating in 2028, 2029 or 2030. All postings appear on the CTBK job board.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
These rules come from the two 2027 internship postings. Expect the 2028 postings to be similar, but read them when they appear:
• GPA: "A minimum GPA of 3.0" on both postings.
• Degree: you must be "actively pursuing an Accounting Degree from an accredited college or university" and "eligible to sit for the CPA exam upon graduation".
• Class year: the winter posting asked for "Junior standing or higher". The summer posting gave no class-year line. Vault lists juniors, seniors and graduate students.
• Availability: winter needs at least 20 hours a week from January through April 15, during the semester. Summer is 24 hours a week from June through August.
• Location: on-site in the Buffalo area.
• Work authorization: the postings didn't mention sponsorship. Vault's profile lists international students as eligible, which we couldn't confirm against a posting.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff at CTBK?
It's written as one. Both 2027 internship postings and the live L.E.A.D. Summit posting say "a minimum GPA of 3.0", with no "preferred" attached, and we found no statement about exceptions. CPA exam eligibility is the second firm rule, so check that your credit hours will qualify in New York or your home state. The real choice is between winter and summer. Winter means 20 or more hours a week on top of spring classes, which suits students near Buffalo. Summer is three days a week, according to interns surveyed by Vault.

What Skills Does CTBK Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
The two 2027 postings asked for the same things. On the technical side, interns help prepare corporate, partnership, individual and trust tax returns and work on financial statement audits, reviews and compilations. On the personal side, both named communication with teams and clients, prioritizing deadlines and problem solving. Neither posting named software. Interns surveyed by Vault describe "creating/updating workpapers, uploading financials to software, and entering transactions into books", and one mentions a big learning curve with the firm's software. One intern did data work with SQL and Power BI, but no such track has been posted.

For CTBK applicants: CTBK's job board lists no internship as of October 12, 2026. Its only student posting is the L.E.A.D. Summit on July 15, 2027, which says participants can be considered for future internships. Watch the board again from August 2027.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
You have about ten months before CTBK's next window. Each skill below maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project for that application.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial statements | 2027 postings: "financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations" | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Transaction data and bookkeeping entries | Intern account on Vault: "entering transactions into books" | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
| Data and reporting | One intern on Vault described SQL queries and Power BI reports; healthcare is one of the firm's named client industries | TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics |
| Tax and audit documents | 2027 postings: preparing "corporate, partnership, individual, and trust tax returns" | Pfizer Advanced: AI-Powered Document Insights & Data Extraction |
The financial statements row is the closest match, since audits, reviews and compilations all start from reading a client's statements.
What Is the CTBK Application and Interview Process Like?
CTBK's process is short. This is what the firm told Vault and what interns in Vault's 2026 survey describe:
1. Apply on the job board in August or September. Open the internship posting, upload a resume and complete the application. The firm says a team member then reaches out about next steps.
2. First interview. Interns describe the tone as casual and friendly.
3. Second interview. A second conversation with different people at the firm.
4. Core values question. Interns report being asked which of CTBK's five core values they connect with most. The values are listed on the firm's careers page.
5. Offer. The firm doesn't publish a decision timeline.
Other questions interns report: tell me about yourself, which of your skills will help in this internship, and what matters to you in an accounting firm. Our behavioral interview guide helps you structure those answers.
What Interns Say on Vault
Reddit has no threads about interning at CTBK, so these cards come from Vault's 2026 intern survey instead.
Summer interns describe three eight-hour days a week, Monday to Wednesday, and say the hours could be adjusted. All the interns sat in one room, so they helped each other with assignments.
Interviews were two casual conversations with different people. Interns were asked which core value they connect with, to talk about themselves, and what they want from an accounting firm.
One intern got a full-time offer after a first internship, and others say staff roles seem to be regularly available to interns. The downsides they name: a heavy busy-season workload, slow days with too little work, and a lot of software to learn.
How Do You Stand Out for a CTBK Internship?
Three moves. First, be early in a short window. Put a reminder in the first week of August 2027 and check the board weekly, because both classes fill from the same two months. Second, use the L.E.A.D. Summit. It's the one student posting open today, it happens on July 15, 2027, a few weeks before the expected window, and the firm says attendees can be considered for future internships. Third, prepare for the values question. Read the five core values on the careers page and pick one you can back with a real example. CTBK doesn't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate. Vault ranks the program #31 for employment prospects, and interns' own advice is to say plainly that you want a full-time role.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2027 CTBK internship?
No. CTBK collected applications for its winter 2027 and summer 2027 internships in August and September 2026, and its job board listed no internship on October 12, 2026. The one open student posting is the L.E.A.D. Summit, a one-day program on July 15, 2027. The next internship window is expected in August 2027.
When do CTBK internship applications open for summer 2028?
Applications for summer 2028 are expected in August to September 2027, about nine to ten months before a June 2028 start. The same window should cover the winter 2028 class, which starts in January. That estimate comes from the 2026 window and the firm's statement to Vault; exact dates aren't published.
What does CTBK stand for?
CTBK stands for Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner LLP. It's a locally owned certified public accounting firm founded in 1994 and based in Amherst, New York, just outside Buffalo. The firm says it has more than 150 professionals and offers assurance, accounting, tax and business consulting services from a single office.
How much do CTBK interns get paid?
Last cycle's postings listed $23 an hour for both the winter 2027 and summer 2027 internships. Those postings have expired, so we read the figure from archived copies, and CTBK hasn't published a rate for 2028. Vault lists the internship as paid, with academic credit available. No housing support is mentioned.
How many hours do CTBK interns work?
The internships are part-time. The summer 2027 posting asked for 24 hours a week from June through August, and interns surveyed by Vault describe three eight-hour days. The winter 2027 posting asked for at least 20 hours a week from January through April 15, alongside spring classes.
What GPA do you need for a CTBK internship?
A 3.0 minimum. Both 2027 internship postings and the L.E.A.D. Summit posting state it without the word preferred. You also need to be pursuing an accounting degree and be eligible to sit for the CPA exam when you graduate. The winter internship asked for junior standing or higher.
What is the CTBK L.E.A.D. Summit?
It's a one-day program for accounting students on July 15, 2027, and the name stands for Learn, Explore, Ask, Develop. Students meet CTBK's staff and clients, and the posting says participants can be considered for future internships. It requires a 3.0 GPA and an accounting degree in progress. The summit isn't an internship.
Do CTBK interns get full-time offers?
CTBK doesn't publish a conversion rate. Vault ranks the program #31 for employment prospects on its 2026 internship rankings, and interns in Vault's survey report full-time offers after a single internship. The firm's careers page shows intern as the first step on its ladder, followed by staff accountant and senior.
CTBK's next internship window is expected in August 2027, so the best use of this year is building experience you can show then. A remote Externship gives you a finished financial modeling or data analysis project before that application opens.
