Last updated: October 2026
COUNTRY Financial's summer 2027 internships are open now. On October 5, 2026, its internship job board listed 20 corporate internships, all in Bloomington, Illinois: IT and actuarial went up September 10 and 11, and 18 more on September 23. COUNTRY reviews applications as they arrive, starts HR interviews in mid-October and says offers can come any time from October through January. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027.
Every role runs full time from late May to early August 2027 on a hybrid schedule, and most can continue part time through the next school year. The tracks range from actuarial and technology to farm underwriting, wealth management, financial planning and marketing. Check one line first: 19 of the 20 postings require a graduation date of August 2027 or later, so May 2027 graduates can't apply.
What Is a COUNTRY Financial Internship?
A COUNTRY Financial internship is a paid summer program at the Bloomington, Illinois home office of COUNTRY Financial, the insurance and financial services group founded by farmers in 1925. Interns work on real projects with a leader and a separate mentor, and join a speaker series, networking events, a volunteer day and a case study competition. COUNTRY has more than 3,000 employees and works in 19 states, according to its company page. It hosted 39 corporate interns in summer 2025 and 46 in 2024, plus a separate DigitaLab program for University of Illinois students. Roles posted by individual COUNTRY agents' offices and its licensed agent careers, which are commission-based, aren't part of this corporate program.

When Do COUNTRY Financial Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
COUNTRY publishes its own recruiting calendar: applications open in mid-September, HR interviews are expected to begin in mid-October, and offers may come any time from October through January depending on the role and the number of applicants. This cycle matched it. The IT and actuarial postings for summer 2027 went up September 10 and 11, 2026, and the other 18 on September 23, about eight months before a late-May 2027 start. Applications for summer 2028 are expected in mid-September 2027.
Applications for summer 2027 are open right now: 20 corporate internships in Bloomington, reviewed as they arrive. Check the graduation-date line before you apply.
HR interviews are expected to begin, according to COUNTRY's own postings. Hiring-leader interviews follow.
Offers go out on a rolling basis, depending on the role and the number of applicants. Seats that fill early won't wait for January.
DigitaLab, COUNTRY's tech internship at the University of Illinois Research Park, may post for U of I students; its last posting was live in April 2026 (low confidence).
The internship runs full time from late May to early August 2027, three days a week in the office. Most roles may continue part time through fall 2027 and spring 2028; summer 2028 applications are expected in mid-September 2027.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
COUNTRY's internships are rolling, and it says so in its own words: applications "are reviewed as they are received," HR interviews start in mid-October, and offers may be made any time from October through January. None of the 20 postings has a deadline, which is exactly why waiting is risky. With review running as applications arrive, the students who applied in September are already in the queue when interviews begin. A seat that's filled in November won't reopen for a January applicant, so apply in October while every role is still open.
Which COUNTRY Financial Internship Programs Should You Target?
COUNTRY's 20 summer 2027 postings group into six areas. The actuarial and IT postings each cover several teams, and COUNTRY routes you to the best fit.
| Area | Roles | Focus | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actuarial | Actuary Intern (P&C, life and health, actuary data scientist) | Rate-making, reserving, projections, predictive models | 1+ actuarial exam, Excel, programming |
| Technology | IT Services Intern (security, software, automation, data); Automation Developer | Application security, Java development, automation, data | Java, Python, SQL, Git |
| Finance and accounting | FP&A; Accounting Analyst (year-long); Business Analyst | Modeling, variance analysis, tax, audit, reporting | Excel, accounting or finance major |
| Wealth and investments | Wealth Management & Financial Planning; Wealth and Investment Management; Institutional Portfolios; Internal Wholesaling | Client planning, portfolio research, investment analysis | Excel; FactSet, Morningstar or Bloomberg exposure |
| Insurance and agriculture | Farm Underwriting; Auto Product Analyst; Crop Operations | Farm risk, auto product pricing, crop insurance | Ag background preferred for farm and crop roles |
| Marketing and communications | Digital Marketing; Graphic Design; Strategic Marketing; Marketing Technology; Consumer Insights; Market Analytics; External Affairs | Campaigns, research, analytics, public affairs | Adobe, R or Python, Tableau, writing |
DigitaLab in Champaign runs separately and only takes active University of Illinois students. Illinois Farm Bureau, COUNTRY's parent, posts its own internships on a separate board.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
COUNTRY's postings set these rules for summer 2027:
• Enrollment: you must be pursuing a degree for the duration of the internship.
• Graduation date: August 2027 or later on 19 of 20 postings, so May 2027 graduates are out; the year-long Accounting Analyst role requires May 2028 or later.
• Availability: full-time hours from late May to early August 2027, three office days a week in Bloomington.
• Major: track-specific, such as actuarial science or math, computer science, accounting (ideally CPA track), finance or marketing; Wealth Management & Financial Planning is open to all majors.
• Exams: the P&C and life actuarial seats want at least one passed actuarial exam.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at COUNTRY Financial?
None of the 20 postings lists a GPA requirement, so the hard gates are the graduation date and full-time summer availability. Work authorization isn't addressed either: no internship posting mentions visa sponsorship, so international students should ask the recruiter before applying rather than assume either way.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each COUNTRY skill maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project to discuss with a hiring leader.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial modeling and variance analysis | FP&A: "Financial modeling, Reporting and analysis, Variance analysis, Budgeting" | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation |
| SQL and data structures | Market Analytics: "Familiarity with general data structures and SQL"; IT data developer | Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture |
| Investment research | Wealth and Investment Management, Institutional Portfolios: portfolio and investment analysis | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |

The FP&A match is the most direct, since COUNTRY's FP&A posting centers on financial modeling, variance analysis and budgeting.
What Is the COUNTRY Financial Application and Interview Process Like?
COUNTRY spells out its process on its internships page and in 18 of its 20 postings:
1. Apply on Workday. Create a candidate account on the corporate internships board; applications are reviewed as they arrive.
2. Pooled postings. The actuarial and IT postings each cover several teams, and COUNTRY's hiring teams decide which fits you best, so make your preferred track clear on your resume.
3. HR interview. Expected to begin in mid-October 2026.
4. Hiring-leader interviews. One or more conversations with the leaders of the team you'd join.
5. Offer. Offers may be made any time from October 2026 through January 2027, depending on the role and the number of applicants.
For the hiring-leader rounds, our behavioral interview guide shows how to prepare short, specific stories.
What the Community Says
No COUNTRY corporate intern has written about the program on Reddit, so these cards mix employee threads with a first-hand Indeed intern review, each labeled.
Current employees, including a software developer, said the default schedule is three days in the office and two at home, varying by team, with desks booked through a portal in a newly remodeled office.
A new graduate offered a COUNTRY agent role heard from reps that pay is growth-based commission and new-agent turnover is high. That licensed agent path is a separate career, not the corporate internship.
A 2026 Bloomington intern described a positive environment but said their department had never hosted an intern before and didn't always have enough work to fill the summer.
How Do You Stand Out for a COUNTRY Financial Internship?
Three moves. First, apply before mid-October. Review is rolling and HR interviews start then, so a September or early-October application is in the first batch. Second, aim the pooled postings. The actuarial and IT postings each feed several teams, so say on your resume which one you want (P&C, life and health, or data science; security, software, automation or data) and show a matching project. Actuarial applicants need a passed exam. Third, use what makes COUNTRY different. Its roots are in farming, so for farm underwriting or crop operations a farm, FFA or 4-H background is a real plus, and the postings say so. COUNTRY publishes no applicant count or conversion rate.

Does COUNTRY Financial hire interns on a rolling basis?

Is a COUNTRY Financial agent's office internship the same program?
No. Internships posted by individual COUNTRY agents are hired by those agents for their own offices, with terms they set, and aren't part of the corporate program. COUNTRY's agent and financial advisor careers are licensed, commission-based independent-contractor roles, also separate from the internship.
COUNTRY's summer 2027 internships are open and reviewed as they arrive. Apply before mid-October, and bring proof of your skills: a remote Externship gives you a finished finance, data or marketing project to discuss with a COUNTRY hiring leader.
