Last updated: October 2026
Aon runs one 10-week paid Summer Internship Program for rising college seniors, but it recruits on two clocks. The actuarial track is open now: its summer 2027 posting went up on July 27, 2026 and was still live on October 5, covering 28 US offices at a published $25.00 to $39.50 an hour. Every other internship (broking, health and benefits, rewards, reinsurance claims and contracts) is posted in the first week of January, about five months before the early-June start. In plain words: you apply during 2026 (actuarial) or January 2027 (everything else), and you intern in summer 2027.
Two more things to know. Actuarial offers have landed in mid-October in past cycles, so actuarial applicants should apply this week. And sophomores have their own door: Aon's virtual Actuarial Career Discovery Sophomore Mentor Program takes applications until November 2026 and feeds the summer 2028 actuarial class.
What Is an Aon Internship?
An Aon internship is a paid, 10-week summer program for rising college seniors at Aon, the global risk, reinsurance, health and wealth advisory firm. Interns join one business area, take on client and internal projects, and get weekly spotlights with leaders, roundtables, one-on-one mentoring and community service. Aon reported $17.2 billion in revenue for 2025 in its full-year results, and its 2025 annual report counts about 60,000 colleagues in more than 120 countries. Aon has owned the middle-market broker NFP since April 2024; NFP posts on the same job board but runs its own internships. Aon's US FAQ says it offers no off-cycle formal internships, so summer is the only intake.

When Do Aon Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Aon's own pages set the calendar. Its FAQ says that "for full-time positions and actuarial internships, recruiting begins in the Fall" and that all other internships recruit in January and February; its early careers page adds that most internships post in the first week of January. Last cycle matched that: the summer 2026 Health and Benefits posting went up January 6, 2026, and the reinsurance claims and contracts postings followed in February. So the actuarial track opens about 10 months before the early-June start, and the other tracks about five months before.
Applications for the summer 2027 actuarial internship are open right now, and the Sophomore Mentor Program is taking applications for its January 2027 start. Broking, health and benefits, rewards, claims and contracts internships for summer 2027 aren't posted yet.
The Sophomore Mentor Program closes in November 2026; it feeds the summer 2028 actuarial class. Actuarial internship interviews and offers for summer 2027 typically run through October and November, based on past cycles.
Applications for summer 2027 broking, health and benefits, rewards, claims and contracts internships are expected to post. Last cycle's postings went up from January 6 to late February 2026.
Recorded video interviews, then hiring-manager and team rounds, and offers for the January-posted tracks. Selected sophomores join the mentor program, which runs January to April 2027.
The 10-week internship starts in early June 2027. Strong interns may get offers to Aon's Launch Program; summer 2028 actuarial applications are expected around late July 2027.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
For the actuarial track, the evidence points to rolling hiring that finishes early. The posting states no deadline, but past candidates interviewed at an October 10 campus career fair and received offers in mid-October with ten days to answer, so seats fill well before winter. For the January tracks the window is short: last cycle a commercial risk applicant submitted a recorded interview around February 6 and was in a second round six days later. The Sophomore Mentor Program is the one hard date: the posting says applications close in November 2026.
Which Aon Internship Programs Should You Target?
Aon runs a single Summer Internship Program, split by business area. Only the actuarial row is posted for summer 2027 so far; the rest are last cycle's roles, expected again in January.
| Track | Focus | When it posts | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actuarial (Retirement, Health & Benefits, Risk Consulting, Reinsurance) | Pension valuations, plan cost benchmarking, P&C reserving, reinsurance pricing | Open now (July 27, 2026) | Excel, projections, one exam preferred |
| Commercial Risk / Reinsurance broking | Supporting account executives and business development | January (expected) | Analysis, communication, open to all majors |
| Health & Benefits | Benefits consulting for employers | January (expected) | Excel, presentations |
| Rewards | Job evaluation, pay benchmarking, equity plan design | January to March (expected) | Microsoft Office, analysis |
| Reinsurance Claims Advocate / Contracts Drafter | Claims advocacy; drafting treaty reinsurance contracts | February (expected) | Writing, insurance knowledge a plus |
| Sophomore Actuarial Career Discovery Mentor Program | Virtual mentoring, January to April 2027, fast track to a summer 2028 final round | Open now, closes November 2026 | Sophomores with a 3.0 GPA, all majors |

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Aon's requirements are consistent across the intern postings we read:
• Class year: rising seniors. The summer 2027 actuarial posting asks for students graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.
• GPA: a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, stated in all six intern postings reviewed.
• Majors: actuarial science, statistics, mathematics or related for the actuarial track; last cycle's broking posting listed business, finance, economics, risk management and more, "but open to all majors".
• Exams: at least one actuarial exam passed is preferred, not required.
• Work authorization: no immigration sponsorship; some postings add "now or at any time in the future".
• Enrollment: the program is for current undergraduates; Aon's FAQ says graduates should look at full-time roles.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff at Aon?
Treat it as one. Every Aon intern posting we read lists a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA as a qualification, and the sophomore program uses the same line. The actuarial exam is softer: the posting calls it preferred, so a strong candidate without an exam can still apply. The sponsorship line is firm on every posting.

What Skills Does Aon Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Aon's intern postings share a core: analytical problem solving, Microsoft Office with Excel named outright, teamwork alongside independent work, and clear writing and presentations. They also name Aon's values of integrity, client commitment and community. The actuarial track adds pension projections, plan cost modeling, loss forecasting and reinsurance pricing, and prefers a passed exam. The reinsurance contracts role values insurance knowledge.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each Aon skill maps to a remote Externship that gives you a finished project to discuss in a recorded or live interview.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial modeling and valuation | Actuarial: pension projections, reinsurance pricing and dynamic risk modeling | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation |
| Excel projections | "Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel" (actuarial posting) | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Health cost data analysis | Health & Benefits: plan cost benchmarking and self-insured rate setting | TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics |
| Client-ready consulting work | Benefits and rewards consulting, client presentations | Healthcare Operations Consulting |
For actuarial applicants the modeling match is closest: Attronica's project ends in a valuation and recommendation, which is the kind of exhibit an Aon consultant asks an intern to prepare.
What Is the Aon Application and Interview Process Like?
Aon's FAQ and candidate reports describe these steps:
1. Apply on jobs.aon.com. You can apply to several roles, but Aon says you may only be in final-round interviews for one position at a time, so rank your choices.
2. Recorded video interview. Aon says some positions start with an on-demand video interview; candidates describe about 10 general questions, up to 3 minutes each, with re-records allowed.
3. Hiring-manager and team interviews. Mostly behavioral: why Aon, your goals, and times you handled a difficult person or competing priorities.
4. Actuarial campus rounds. Actuarial candidates have interviewed at university actuarial career fairs in October before a final round.
5. Offer. Past actuarial offers came in mid-October with about ten days to respond.
Our behavioral interview guide shows how to build stories for those team rounds.
What Students on Reddit Say
Aon applicants on Reddit mostly discuss the recorded interview, the team round and offer timing.
An applicant who passed Aon's recorded video assessment asked how to prepare for the HR and team interview. Replies said to expect behavioral questions such as why Aon, career goals and juggling priorities, and to know what the role actually does.
Commercial risk intern applicants described a recorded interview of about ten generic questions, three minutes each with re-records allowed, then a hiring-manager round. One was invited to a second round six days after a February submission.
A student with an Aon actuarial internship offer in mid-October had ten days to accept. The top advice was to ask Aon for an extension and tell other firms about the competing offer.
How Do You Stand Out for an Aon Internship?
Three moves. First, match your clock. Actuarial students should apply this week; everyone else should have a resume, an unofficial transcript showing the 3.0 GPA and a practiced set of recorded answers ready before winter break. Second, choose a path and say why. The actuarial posting splits into Retirement and Health and Benefits (Society of Actuaries exams) and Risk Consulting and Reinsurance (Casualty Actuarial Society exams); naming one shows you read it. A passed exam helps, since the posting prefers one. Third, rank your applications. Aon lets you apply widely but holds you to one final round at a time. Aon publishes no applicant count or intern conversion rate; it says only that outstanding interns may receive Launch Program offers.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Aon internship?
No. Summer 2026 has already run, and every summer 2026 intern posting we checked is closed. The open door is summer 2027: the actuarial internship has been live since July 27, 2026. Broking, health and benefits, rewards, claims and contracts internships for summer 2027 are expected the first week of January 2027.
Is the Aon actuarial internship open?
Yes. On October 5, 2026 the 2027 Summer Internship Program actuarial posting was live across 28 US offices, covering Retirement, Health and Benefits, Risk Consulting and Reinsurance. It pays $25.00 to $39.50 an hour and states no deadline, but past offers came in mid-October, so apply now.
When do other Aon internship applications open for summer 2027?
Aon says most of its internships post in the first week of January, with recruiting in January and February. Last cycle the Health and Benefits posting went up January 6, 2026, and reinsurance claims and contracts postings followed in February. Expect the same pattern in early 2027.
How much do Aon interns make?
The summer 2027 actuarial posting pays $25.00 to $39.50 an hour. Last cycle's non-actuarial postings paid $21.00 to $27.00 an hour for Health and Benefits and Rewards, $21.00 to $24.50 for reinsurance claims and contracts, and $24.50 for a Bloomington risk intern. Pay varies with education, skills and location.
What GPA do you need for an Aon internship?
A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Every Aon intern posting we reviewed lists it as a qualification, and the sophomore mentor program uses the same floor. The actuarial posting also prefers at least one passed actuarial exam, though that one isn't required.
Does Aon sponsor visas for interns?
No. Aon's intern postings say immigration sponsorship isn't available, and some add that you must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. International students on F-1 status should confirm their own work authorization before applying.
What is the Aon Sophomore Mentor Program?
It's a virtual Actuarial Career Discovery program for current sophomores, running January to April 2027. Applications close in November 2026. Mentees with a 3.0 GPA or higher get mentoring from Aon colleagues, and selected mentees can be fast-tracked to a final-round interview for a summer 2028 actuarial internship.
Does Aon give interns full-time offers?
Outstanding interns may receive offers to Aon's Launch Program, a 10-month development program for full-time campus hires that starts in late June or mid-July. Aon doesn't publish a conversion rate or intern class size, so treat a return offer as possible, not automatic.
Actuarial students: Aon's summer 2027 posting is live now, so apply this week. Everyone else has until January, which is enough time to finish a remote Externship and bring a real project to your recorded interview.
