What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

AEP publishes clear eligibility requirements across its students page and requisitions. Engineering is the most specific:

• Degree: currently pursuing a bachelor's in electrical, civil, mechanical or chemical engineering in an ABET-accredited program (engineering track). Technology accepts IT, CS, Engineering, Analytics, Business or related fields.

• GPA: 3.0 appears as a requirement on the students page for engineering students and as a hard minimum in the Technology requisition. The Engineering requisition lists it under Preferred rather than Required. A student slightly below 3.0 should still apply to engineering roles.

• Class year: completed freshman year (engineering). The Technology track explicitly serves "students ranging from rising sophomores to masters levels."

• Graduation date: engineering requires December 2027 or later. A May 2027 graduate is not eligible for the Summer 2027 engineering internship.

• Sponsorship: the engineering requisition states plainly: "This position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT." The Technology requisition does not repeat this clause. Check each requisition before applying.

Does AEP Have a Hard GPA Cutoff?

The answer depends on the track. The Technology internship lists 3.0 as a minimum requirement. The students page says "Engineering students: Enrolled in ABET-accredited programs with a minimum 3.0 GPA." But the Engineering requisition itself places 3.0 under Preferred rather than Required. A student at 2.8 should still apply to engineering roles and not assume they are screened out.
