VML is not an apply-in-the-fall company. Its 10-week Emerge US internship posted 31 intern requisitions by March 27, 2026, and by April 4 only one was left, according to archived copies of VML's careers page. As of October 25, 2026, VML's job board lists no college internship in the United States, so there is nothing to apply to yet. In plain words: you apply in late winter 2027, you intern in summer 2027, and the whole window can be a week or two.

That timing is expected, not confirmed, and we have only one dated cycle to go on. VML's own program page said in August 2024 that details for the next summer would be available in January or February, which fits a late-winter opening. Use the months before then to build a portfolio or a campaign project.

What Is a VML Internship?

A VML internship is Emerge in VML, a 10-week hybrid summer program inside VML, the creative agency that is part of WPP. Interns work on real client projects, from brainstorming and market research to campaign execution, and team up with other interns to build a campaign for a real VML client and present it to agency professionals. Every intern also takes part in a volunteer day through the VML Foundation. The program page quotes a Chief Social Officer at VML London who started as a 2012 Marketing Intern in Kansas City. VML doesn't publish intern pay on its program page, so this guide gives no figure. This page covers VML's US internships only. When Do VML Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

VML posts Emerge in late winter, not in the fall. Archived copies of VML's careers page show 31 US intern postings on March 27, 2026, five on April 1, one on April 4 and none on April 28, for a June 2 start. That makes the lead time at least two months, and likely longer, because March 27 is the earliest copy that shows the job list. VML's own program page said in August 2024 that details for the following summer would arrive in January or February. A candidate in a 2026 Reddit post had an interview in mid-April. So summer 2027 postings are expected around February to March 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

• Application: apply directly online on the VML careers site. You can apply to more than one internship.

• Relocation: VML says it doesn't provide housing or relocation assistance, so plan for the cost of living in your office city.

• Work model: hybrid, in one of the participating US offices for the 10 weeks.

• Class year, GPA and work authorization: not published on VML's program page. Read these lines on each posting when it goes up. Don't rely on rules you see for other WPP agencies, which are written separately.

Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff at VML?

We can't say. VML's program page states no GPA requirement, and the 2026 postings have been taken down, so the wording on the posting is the only source. Postings for creative roles such as Art Director, Copywriter and Motion Design are likely to ask for a portfolio or reel, but that isn't confirmed on any VML page we could read, so check each posting.

What Skills Does VML Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

VML's own postings are offline, so we can't measure a skill frequency. The 2026 listing teasers show the role families. Account and social interns "create status reports, organize meetings and help with project updates" and "assist with creating social media strategies." Art director and copywriter interns "explore AI" tools such as Adobe Firefly and ChatGPT. Strategy interns support brand strategy for several clients. Analytics interns support data-driven decisions. Across all of them, the program page promises real client work and a group campaign you present to agency professionals.

1. Apply online. Search "Intern" on the VML careers site and apply to each posting you want. VML allows multiple applications.

2. Application review. Each application is checked against the requirements of the position.

3. Recruiter interview. Applicants who meet the requirements are invited to interview with a recruiter.

4. Department-lead interview. The next step is an interview with the department lead for the program.

5. Offer. "After all interviews are conducted, an offer will be extended to the strongest candidate for the internship."

How Do You Stand Out for a VML Internship?

Three moves. First, be ready before the postings go up. The 2026 postings were mostly gone within about a week of the first copy we can read, so a finished resume and portfolio link in February matter more than a perfect application in April. Second, apply to several postings. VML says you can, and each office and discipline is a separate posting. Third, show campaign thinking, not just tools. The program ends with a group campaign for a real client, so bring a project where you researched an audience, chose a message and presented it. VML publishes no class size, acceptance rate or conversion rate, so we don't give one.
