Toshiba's US internships are run by separate Toshiba companies, and the one hiring now is Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) in Houston, Texas, which makes motors, drives, power electronics and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems. On October 25, 2026 its job boards listed 17 intern-titled requisitions: two umbrella postings dated September 8 for a paid, full-time "Summer Term (10-12 Weeks)" internship, 14 department roles posted October 2 to 21, and a part-time Talent Acquisition Intern/Co-op. Toshiba America Business Solutions (copiers and business technology, Lake Forest, California) ran a summer 2026 intern from June 15 to August 7 and has nothing open for 2027. TIC's summer reqs don't print a year, but a September posting points to summer 2027. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and at TIC that means applying now.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship builds the process and operations analysis behind TIC's industrial engineering reqs, and the Hydroficient Advanced: IoT Cyber Defense Externship fits instrumentation and automation work. What Is a Toshiba Internship?

A Toshiba internship in the US is a placement at one Toshiba operating company, not a group program. Toshiba International Corporation (TIC), a Toshiba America Group company in Houston, designs and builds motors, motor controls and power electronics, and is the only Toshiba US employer with intern requisitions open today. Its reqs cover engineering (industrial, applications, UPS field service, instrumentation and automation) and business functions such as supply chain, human resources, IT, legal and talent acquisition. Toshiba America Business Solutions (Lake Forest, California) is a separate employer that ran a summer 2026 internship, and Toshiba America Energy Systems and Toshiba America Electronic Components listed no interns. Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions has its own site, which we did not check. Toshiba Corporation's Japan programs are outside this guide.

When Do Toshiba Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

TIC posted its umbrella Summer Internship and Engineering Intern reqs on September 8, 2026, then added department-specific intern reqs in waves on October 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 21. The Summer Term runs 10 to 12 weeks and TIC doesn't print start dates, so the lead time is roughly nine months only if the term begins in June, which is our assumption. We found no dated TIC reqs from last cycle, so the summer 2028 expectation (~September 2027) rests on this year's September 8 posting alone. Toshiba America Business Solutions is a different calendar: its summer 2026 intern req was posted February 25, 2026 for June 15 to August 7, a lead of about 3.7 months, so a summer 2027 req is expected around February 2027.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERE

TIC is open: two umbrella summer reqs, 14 department-specific intern reqs and a part-time Talent Acquisition Intern/Co-op, all in Houston. Toshiba America Business Solutions, Toshiba America Energy Systems and Toshiba America Electronic Components have no intern reqs posted.

October 2026 to spring 2027ROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

TIC shows no closing date and adds department reqs in waves, so it's worth applying early. TIC doesn't publish its review or interview steps. A February 2023 student post describes a phone screen after applying, but it's one thin report.

February 2027EXPECTED

Toshiba America Business Solutions summer 2027 intern req expected, projected from the February 25, 2026 posting for a June 15 to August 7 term. One data point, low confidence.

Summer 2027

TIC's Summer Term is 10 to 12 weeks, full time, with project work, mentorship, networking events and a final presentation of results to leadership. Exact dates aren't published.

September 2027EXPECTED

TIC summer 2028 umbrella reqs expected to repost, projected from the September 8, 2026 postings. Low confidence: we found no dated reqs from the prior cycle.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

TIC's urgency is rolling, not a hard deadline. Its reqs show no closing date, and the department roles arrived in waves between October 2 and October 21, which suggests teams open seats as they get approved. Several titles appear twice with different requisition numbers, so each is a separate seat. We can't say how long any req stays up, because we found no dated reqs from last cycle. Applying early costs nothing and keeps you in the pool for the seat that matches your major. Toshiba America Business Solutions is different: its one summer 2026 req was posted in late February for a June 15 start, so that window looks short.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These come from the live TIC reqs. Rules differ by req.

• Class year: the umbrella Summer Internship accepts rising sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree. The department reqs say "currently pursuing a bachelor's degree" and, for the industrial engineering roles, "currently enrolled in an accredited college or university."

• Majors: Engineering Intern asks for electrical, mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering. Industrial engineering reqs want industrial, industrial and systems, or manufacturing engineering. UPS Field Service asks for electrical, electrical engineering technology or electronics. Instrumentation/Automation asks for electrical or computer engineering.

• GPA: only the Engineering Intern req mentions one, "Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred."

• Schedule: the UPS Applications Engineering Intern req asks for the ability to work around a college class schedule within standard business hours. The Talent Acquisition role is part time at 25 hours a week.

• Work authorization: none of the reqs we read states a citizenship or sponsorship rule.

Is Every Toshiba Internship in Houston?

No. All 17 open intern reqs are TIC's, in Houston. Toshiba America Business Solutions is in Lake Forest, California, and had no intern req open. Toshiba America Energy Systems (West Allis, Wisconsin) and Toshiba America Electronic Components (Irvine, California) listed none either. Check each company's board, because a TIC application doesn't reach the others.

What Skills Does Toshiba Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Three themes run through the TIC reqs. Communication and teamwork: every req we read asks for communication skills, and ten name cross-functional or team work. Analysis and data: ten ask for analytical or problem-solving skills, and eight involve analyzing production, service or engineering data. Manufacturing and engineering fundamentals: the industrial engineering reqs list time studies, Lean, 5S and standard work, while the applications and field service reqs name circuits, power systems, motor controls and tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and MATLAB.

For Toshiba applicants: Toshiba International's boards listed 17 intern-titled reqs on October 25, 2026, thirteen of them engineering-titled, all in Houston. Its umbrella summer reqs went up on September 8, so don't wait for a spring window.

Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (119 postings in September, 36 in August).

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill in the chart maps to a remote Externship you can finish while the TIC reqs are open.

Instrumentation and IoT systemsInstrumentation/Automation Engineering Intern: hardware testing for automation productsHydroficient Advanced: IoT Cyber Defense

The overlap is closest on the data and process side. There's no open Externship that trains circuits or CAD, so engineering applicants should lean on coursework and design-team projects for those parts of the reqs.

What Is the Toshiba Application and Interview Process Like?

TIC doesn't publish an interview process for interns. What the evidence shows:

1. Pick the board. TIC runs several UKG boards. The main board holds the engineering and summer reqs, and a second holds the Talent Acquisition role.

2. Apply to a specific req. Duplicate titles are separate requisitions with different numbers, so apply to the department that fits your major.

3. Phone screen. A February 2023 student post says TIC's summer process included a phone screen; it's one report, and no later cycle is documented.

4. Interview and offer. Not published. The 2023 post says offers had gone out by late February that year, a single data point.

5. Start. The umbrella reqs describe a 10 to 12 week full-time summer term; start dates aren't printed.

No Toshiba source lists interview questions for US interns, so we don't list any.

What We Found on Reddit

The only TIC-specific thread we found is a February 2023 r/csMajors post from a student who accepted a TIC summer offer in Houston and asked others who had. Its one reply asks what happens after the phone screen and gets no answer, which is too thin and too old to quote. We're not padding this section with unrelated posts.

How Do You Stand Out at Toshiba?

First, aim at a specific team. TIC posts separate reqs for motor plant industrial engineering, UPS applications, LV drives and field service, so an application that names the product and the task reads better than a general engineering pitch. Second, show manufacturing literacy. The industrial engineering reqs ask for time studies, Lean and 5S, and the applications reqs ask for coursework in power systems and motor controls, so bring a project that uses them. Third, apply early and to the right company: Toshiba America Business Solutions and TIC have separate boards, and the TIC reqs have been open since September 8. Toshiba doesn't publish class size, applicant counts or a conversion rate, so we won't estimate them.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Toshiba internship?

No. Summer 2026 programs have run, including Toshiba America Business Solutions' June 15 to August 7 internship in California. What's open now is Toshiba International Corporation's summer-term and department intern roles in Houston. They don't print a year, but their September 2026 posting points to summer 2027.

When do Toshiba internship applications for summer 2027 open?

At Toshiba International in Houston they're open now: the umbrella Summer Internship and Engineering Intern reqs were posted September 8, 2026, and department reqs followed through October 21. Toshiba America Business Solutions' summer req is expected around February 2027, based on its February 25, 2026 posting.

Are Toshiba internships rolling?

In practice, yes. The Toshiba International reqs show no closing date, and department roles were added in waves from October 2 to October 21. We found no dated reqs from last cycle, so we can't say how long any one stays open. Apply early to the req that fits your major.

How much do Toshiba interns get paid?

Toshiba International's reqs say "Paid Internship" but publish no hourly rate. Toshiba America Business Solutions' summer 2026 Bids & Contracts Intern req stated $20.00 an hour, but that's a different Toshiba company and last year's cycle. Treat figures on other sites as unverified.

Who is eligible for a Toshiba International internship?

The umbrella Summer Internship accepts rising sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree. The Engineering Intern req prefers a 3.0 GPA, and department reqs name majors such as industrial, electrical, mechanical or manufacturing engineering. None of the reqs we read states a sponsorship rule.

How long is a Toshiba International summer internship?

The two umbrella reqs describe a paid, full-time summer term of 10 to 12 weeks, with project-based work, mentorship, networking events and a final presentation of results to leadership. The 14 department reqs and the Talent Acquisition role don't state a term, and no req prints exact start dates.

Is Toshiba's US internship in Houston only?

All 17 open intern reqs are at Toshiba International Corporation in Houston. Toshiba America Business Solutions hired a summer 2026 intern in Lake Forest, California, and Toshiba America Energy Systems and Toshiba America Electronic Components listed none. Toshiba Corporation's Japan programs are separate and outside this guide.

Do Toshiba interns get full-time offers?

Toshiba doesn't publish a conversion rate. The Summer Internship req says interns can explore "future full-time opportunities," and the Engineering Intern req lists consideration for future internship, co-op or full-time roles. Toshiba International also runs separate graduate programs, but no intern-to-hire percentage exists.

Apply to the Toshiba International reqs that match your major while they're listed, and watch Toshiba America Business Solutions' board from January. In the meantime, a remote Externship gives you a finished process or data project to talk about in your interviews.
