Last updated: October 2026
At Schneider Electric the next US internship door opens in January, not June. Of the 36 US student openings on its careers board on 3 October 2026, 21 were January or spring 2027 co-ops and internships, most running January to July 2027, and only 5 were summer 2027 internships. If you're an engineering student, you apply this fall for a co-op that starts in January 2027; summer 2027 roles are open too, but they're the smaller group, and in plain words you apply during 2026 to intern in summer 2027. Schneider publishes pay on most reqs: engineering co-ops in Andover, Foxboro, Fairfield and Cedar Rapids list $23.00 to $35.50 an hour. This guide covers only Schneider Electric's US programs, not Schneider National, the trucking company.

Schneider hires req by req on a rolling basis, and January 2027 co-ops are the biggest open group right now.
Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week, short enough to finish before a January co-op. The Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship matches Schneider's firmware and connected-device roles, and the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy Externship fits its plant, supply chain and continuous improvement internships. What Is a Schneider Electric Internship?
A Schneider Electric internship is a paid US internship or semester co-op at the French energy-management and industrial-automation company behind EcoStruxure, APC and Square D. Its req text cites €40 billion in global revenue and 150,000+ employees in 100+ countries. There's no single branded US intern program: each team posts its own req, from firmware and power electronics co-ops in Andover, Massachusetts to plant engineering interns in Tennessee, Missouri and Nebraska. Co-ops are full-time, usually six months, and run through university partnerships, per the US early careers page.

When Do Schneider Electric Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Schneider's US hiring runs req by req, not as one wave. Its January 2027 co-ops were posted between 22 August and 2 October 2026, about 3.5 to 5 months before a January start, while the summer 2027 Sales intern went up on 23 August for a May start, about 8.5 months ahead. Late adds are normal: last cycle a summer 2026 Data Analyst intern req posted in March 2026, two to three months before it started. Expect summer 2027 roles to keep appearing through about March 2027.
Applications are open right now for 21 January or spring 2027 roles (13 co-ops, 8 semester internships) and 5 summer 2027 internships. Five fall 2026 roles are still posted too. Every req is rolling, so apply this week.
January co-op seats must be filled before the semester starts, so interviews and offers for those roles cluster now. New spring reqs are still posting; six went up on 2 October alone.
Co-ops start, most running to July 2027. Expected: more summer 2027 internship reqs post between now and about March 2027, as they did last cycle.
Expected: reqs for July–December 2027 and fall 2027 co-ops start posting, based on the fall 2026 roles that were posted in August and September.
Summer interns start in May or June 2027; the Sales internship runs 8 weeks from May. Schneider doesn't publish a conversion rate.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Schneider's reqs are rolling: they say the company "will accept applications on an ongoing basis until the position is filled", and none lists a closing date. That makes the posting date the only clock you can see. The board turns over fast. Between 28 September and 3 October 2026, four US student reqs came down, including a DevOps co-op and an Embedded AI Firmware co-op, and ten appeared that weren't in our 28 September pull. A January co-op also has a hard practical limit, because Schneider needs to finish offers and onboarding before the semester begins. If a req fits your major and class year, apply within days of seeing it.
Which Schneider Electric Internship Programs Should You Target?
These are the main groups of US student roles live on 3 October 2026.
| Track | Focus | Duration | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering co-ops (Andover, Foxboro, Fairfield, Cedar Rapids, Cleveland) | Power electronics, embedded systems, firmware security, controls, mechanical, electronics hardware | 6 months, Jan–Jul 2027 | C, embedded Linux, circuit design, CAD; $23–$35.50/hr |
| Plant and manufacturing internships (TN, MO, NE, OH, TX) | Manufacturing, quality, EHS, continuous improvement, supply chain, finance | Spring 2027 semester | Excel, Lean, data analysis, safety |
| Software Engineer Intern (Andover) | NetBotz IoT monitoring: code fixes, testing | Summer 2027 | Java, JavaScript or C; Linux, Git |
| Sales and Client Services (Dallas) | Public-sector sales, client support rotations | Summer 2027, 8 weeks | Relationship selling, communication |
| Corporate internships (Nashville, Franklin, Raleigh) | Talent attraction, HR, product management, supply chain transformation | Summer 2027 or unstated | Communication, Excel, project management |
Filter the search to the United States, then read each req's term line: titles don't always say whether a role is spring, summer or fall.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Schneider sets eligibility per req, so read each one closely.
• Class year: varies. The Andover Software Engineer Intern wants a "Freshman or Sophomore Bachelor's student", the Sales intern wants a May 2028 graduate, and the Embedded Engineer co-op wants a senior as of January 2027.
• Degree: role-specific, such as EE, computer engineering, CS or ME for engineering co-ops, industrial engineering or supply chain for plant roles, and business for sales.
• Work authorization: 32 of the 36 US student reqs say Schneider won't sponsor a visa; the HR Consultant intern rules out H-1B, OPT and CPT support.
• Relocation: several reqs say no relocation or living stipend, including the Sales intern.
• GPA: none of the 36 reqs states a GPA floor.

Can International Students Apply?
Mostly no. Thirty-two of the 36 US reqs say Schneider doesn't provide immigration sponsorship now or in the future, and one also excludes OPT and CPT. The other four are silent, which isn't the same as a yes. If you're on a student visa, ask the recruiter before you invest in an application, and look at Schneider's roles in your home country, since most of its intern openings worldwide are outside the US.
What Skills Does Schneider Electric Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Three groups stand out across Schneider's 36 US student reqs. Communication and teamwork come first, with 24 reqs asking for strong communication skills. Office and data skills follow: 20 reqs name Microsoft Office or Excel and 16 ask for data analysis. Technical depth depends on the track, with electrical and electronics fundamentals in 13 reqs, Lean or continuous improvement in 11 and CAD in 7.

Most engineering employers are filling summer 2027 seats this fall, while Schneider's biggest open group starts in January. A co-op now can put you ahead of students who wait for summer.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (87 postings in September, 36 in August).
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each row maps a skill from Schneider's live reqs to a remote Externship that produces a finished project.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Connected-device and firmware security | Cyber Security Firmware Spring Co-op; Software Engineer Intern: "addressing security vulnerabilities" on NetBotz IoT devices | Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense |
| Operations and continuous improvement | Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain interns | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Databases | Software Engineer Intern tech stack includes PostgreSQL | Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture |
| Data analysis in Excel | Software Engineer Intern: "Collect and analyze data within Microsoft Excel"; finance and quality interns | Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy |
None of these Externships is affiliated with Schneider Electric. Most run about 8 weeks, which means one started in October can finish before a January co-op begins.
What Is the Schneider Electric Application and Interview Process Like?
Schneider doesn't publish a standard intern process; this combines the reqs with one first-hand account.
1. Search with the US filter. The default careers search is global, and most intern-titled openings worldwide are outside the US.
2. Apply per req through iCIMS. "You must submit an online application to be considered", per the reqs; apply to each role that fits.
3. Interviews. A 2024 software intern on Indeed described a recorded HireVue interview, then a technical round debugging simple C# and a behavioral round. That's one report, so expect variation by team.
4. Offer. Roles fill on a rolling basis; check whether relocation or housing support applies, since several reqs say it doesn't.
For the recorded-video step, our HireVue interview questions guide with a free AI mock tool covers the format.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit threads on Schneider internships focus on pay, relocation and where the work happens.
One student said Schneider offered $23 an hour for an undergraduate internship. A commenter comparing it with a GE offer leaned toward Schneider for corporate stability, while another said to pick whichever role gives real work.
A student with a $25-an-hour summer offer more than 700 miles from home said Schneider gave no relocation help. Commenters split: some said moving costs could wipe out the pay, others said the low cost of living near Middletown, Pennsylvania made it worthwhile.
A Cedar Rapids employee pointed a student looking for electronics or automation work toward Schneider, saying the team works in an electrical lab there, and offered to pass along applications.
How Do You Stand Out for a Schneider Electric Internship or Co-op?
First, aim at the January door. Twenty-one of 36 open US roles start in January or spring 2027, and students who only search "summer internship" miss them. Second, match the class-year line exactly: Schneider writes specific ones, such as freshman or sophomore for the Andover software role and senior standing for the embedded co-op. Third, bring a hands-on project tied to the product, such as a circuit you built, firmware you debugged or a Lean project from a plant job. Schneider doesn't publish applicant counts or a conversion rate.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Schneider Electric internship?
No. Summer 2026 internships have ended, and those reqs are no longer on Schneider's board. A few fall 2026 semester roles are still posted. The bigger open doors are 21 January or spring 2027 co-ops and internships and 5 summer 2027 internships, all live on 3 October 2026 and filling on a rolling basis.
When do Schneider Electric summer 2027 internship applications open?
They're already open for some roles. Five summer 2027 reqs were posted between 18 August and 30 September 2026, and last cycle more summer roles appeared as late as March. Schneider posts req by req rather than in one wave, so check the US board every week or two.
How much do Schneider Electric interns and co-ops make?
Schneider publishes pay on most US reqs. Engineering co-ops in Andover, Foxboro, Fairfield and Cedar Rapids list $23.00 to $35.50 an hour, most other internships list $23 to $27.50, and a graduate Product Management intern lists $29.50 to $35.50. Several reqs say no relocation or housing stipend.
What is a Schneider Electric co-op?
A full-time, semester-length role, usually six months from January to July 2027 in the current postings, run through university co-op programs. Co-ops sit mostly in engineering teams in Andover and Foxboro, Massachusetts, Fairfield and Cleveland, Ohio, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Their listed pay ranges top out higher than most summer internships.
Does Schneider Electric sponsor visas for interns?
Generally no. Thirty-two of the 36 US student reqs live on 3 October 2026 say Schneider doesn't sponsor immigration, and the HR Consultant intern also rules out OPT and CPT. The rest don't mention it. International students should confirm with a recruiter before applying to a US role.
Can freshmen apply to Schneider Electric?
For some roles, yes. The Andover Software Engineer Intern req for summer 2027 asks specifically for a freshman or sophomore. Others want upper-class students, such as the Embedded Engineer co-op, which wants senior standing by January 2027, and the Sales intern, which wants a May 2028 graduate.
Is Schneider Electric the same as Schneider National?
No. Schneider Electric is the French energy-management and automation company covered here. Schneider National is a separate US trucking and logistics company with its own internships. Job sites sometimes mix them up, so check the employer name and the careers.se.com domain before you apply.
Does Schneider Electric hire interns full-time?
It can, but it doesn't publish a conversion rate. The summer 2027 Sales intern req calls the role one of the best pathways to full-time employment, and Schneider runs post-graduate development programs in digital buildings, digital engineering, sales and global supply chain that interns can move into.
Schneider's January co-ops and summer 2027 roles are open now and close as they fill. Apply this month, and if you want a finished project to discuss, a remote Externship can wrap up before a January start.
