The New Jersey Devils don't run their own intern class. Interns come through the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) Internship Program, which also places students with Prudential Center and the Philadelphia 76ers. HBSE's careers page describes it as an in-person, part-time, 8-week program that runs from May to July, with locations in Newark, NJ or Camden, NJ, and says the program is paid. It also says "Applications open early December." Here's the cycle in plain words: you apply in early December 2026 and intern in May to July 2027. Nothing is open today: on 17 October 2026 HBSE's job board had 10 postings and none was an internship. The program takes students entering their junior or senior year and recent graduates.

No Devils internship was open on 17 October 2026. HBSE's own page says applications open early December, for an 8-week program running May to July.

You have about seven weeks before the window is expected to open, which is enough time to finish a project. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. What Is a New Jersey Devils Internship?

A New Jersey Devils internship is a place in the HBSE Internship Program, not a standalone Devils program. HBSE owns and operates the Devils, Prudential Center in Newark and the Philadelphia 76ers, and its careers page says the program "offers learning opportunities across HBSE" with "real-scenario projects" and a chance to network with industry professionals. Students choose Newark or Camden as their location, and the Devils and Prudential Center sit in Newark. The page doesn't list departments, hours per week or a class size. Not internships: HBSE's Virtual Academy (eight weekly virtual sessions), the Elite Sales Recruitment Program for graduates, and game-night and event jobs.

When Do New Jersey Devils Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

HBSE runs one internship cycle a year, and it publishes the opening month itself: "Applications open early December," and the program "runs from May - July." That's a lead time of about five months from application opening to start. The same sentence appears in a Wayback capture of the page from 17 November 2025 and on the live page, so the December opening has held for at least a year. HBSE removes closed postings from its Hirebridge board, so we couldn't recover last cycle's posting or its close date.

Nothing is open yet. HBSE's Hirebridge board had 10 postings on 17 October 2026, none an internship; the one posting naming the Devils was a full-time sales job. This is the window to build proof.

~Early December 2026EXPECTED

Applications for summer 2027 are expected to open. HBSE doesn't publish a closing date, so apply in the first days and don't assume a long window.

Selection and interviews are expected. HBSE doesn't publish its interview steps or offer dates.

May to July 2027

The 8-week, in-person, part-time program runs in Newark or Camden. Applications for the 2028 program are expected around early December 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

HBSE gives the opening month but no closing date, and Hirebridge deletes a posting once it closes, so we can't show how long last year's window stayed open. That uncertainty is the reason to apply early. A posting that opens in early December lands just before winter break, and an application sent in the first days is in the pile when reviewers start. Put the first week of December in your calendar and have your résumé ready.

Which New Jersey Devils Internship Programs Should You Target?

HBSE describes one internship program, with a separate virtual program next to it. HBSE doesn't list departments for the internship.

ProgramFocusDurationKey skills
HBSE Internship ProgramIn-person, part-time work across HBSE, including the Devils, Prudential Center and the 76ers; real-scenario projects and networking8 weeks, May to JulyNot published
HBSE Virtual Academy (not an internship)Weekly virtual sessions with speakers from across HBSE; open to current college students and recent graduatesEight weekly sessions; applications open early fallNot applicable

Read the program text on HBSE's careers page. The Virtual Academy is a separate program, so don't count it as an internship. HBSE's Elite Sales Recruitment Program is an entry-level sales training program for graduates.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

HBSE's careers page states the eligibility in one sentence:

• Students: current college students entering their junior or senior year.

• Graduates: recent college graduates are also eligible.

• No degree: a high school diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience also qualifies.

• Pay: HBSE says the internship program is paid.

• Location and schedule: in person and part-time, in Newark or Camden.

• GPA, work authorization and academic credit: not stated.

Can a Freshman or Sophomore Apply?

HBSE's wording is "entering their junior or senior year," so a student about to start sophomore year doesn't fit the stated rule. Rising juniors and rising seniors do, and so do recent graduates. If you're earlier in college, the Virtual Academy is open to current college students and is worth watching in early fall.

What Skills Do the New Jersey Devils Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

HBSE doesn't publish an internship description with a skills list, so we can't give a counted breakdown. What its page says is that interns get hands-on learning, real-scenario projects and tasks, and a chance to build professional skills. The one posting naming the Devils on HBSE's board on 17 October 2026 was a full-time Account Executive role in group events sales, which suggests the business side values sales and revenue skills. That's an inference, not a requirement.

Note: We don't show a skills bar chart for the Devils: no internship posting existed on HBSE's job board on 17 October 2026 and no earlier posting could be recovered, so there are no job descriptions to count.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

HBSE's page doesn't list intern skills, so these rows map what its program text and Devils board suggest to remote Externships you can finish before December.

What Is the New Jersey Devils Application and Interview Process Like?

HBSE doesn't publish an interview format. This is what its page and board show:

1. Wait for early December. HBSE says applications open then. Nothing is posted now.

2. Apply on Hirebridge. Open roles are listed on HBSE's Hirebridge board, linked from its careers page as View Open Jobs.

3. Choose your location. The program lists Newark or Camden; the Devils and Prudential Center are in Newark. How locations are assigned isn't published.

4. Interview. Steps aren't published.

5. Offer. HBSE says the program is paid; ask for the rate and weekly hours before you accept.

Apply through HBSE's own board only, not through third-party job mirrors.

What Students on Reddit Say

Current Devils internship threads don't exist, so this is one dated first-hand comment.

A self-described former Devils intern, who worked summer 2011 into the season and again in January 2012, said getting into sports takes networking and that career fairs rarely lead directly to a hire. They added that sports internships and sports work are both rough. The thread is from 2013, so treat it as background, not current practice.

How Do You Stand Out for a Devils Internship?

Three moves. First, be ready when the window opens. HBSE says early December, so have a one-page résumé and a short note on why you want Newark ready by Thanksgiving. Second, fit the stated rule: you must be entering your junior or senior year or a recent graduate, so say your class year in the first line. Third, show project work. HBSE describes real-scenario projects, so a finished Externship deliverable or a campus sports-marketing project is more concrete than a fan story. HBSE doesn't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate, so treat the internship as your way in and ask about full-time paths once you're there.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 New Jersey Devils internship?

No. HBSE's internship program runs May to July and nothing is open now: on 17 October 2026 its job board had 10 postings and none was an internship. Applications for summer 2027 are expected to open in early December 2026, based on HBSE's own careers page.

When do New Jersey Devils summer 2027 internship applications open?

HBSE's careers page says "Applications open early December," so expect early December 2026 for the summer 2027 program. The page gives no closing date, and Hirebridge removes closed postings, so apply in the first days rather than assuming a long window.

Are New Jersey Devils internships paid?

HBSE says "the internship program is paid." The hourly rate isn't published on HBSE's own pages, so we don't state one and we ignore figures from job aggregators. Ask for the rate and weekly hours when you get an offer.

Who can apply for a Devils internship?

Current college students entering their junior or senior year, recent college graduates, and people with a high school diploma or GED and 4 years of relevant experience. HBSE doesn't state a GPA or work-authorization requirement. A first-year or sophomore doesn't fit the stated rule.

How long is the Devils internship and where is it?

The program is 8 weeks, in person and part-time, running May to July, with locations in Newark, NJ or Camden, NJ. Newark is where the Devils and Prudential Center are based; Camden is HBSE's headquarters and the Philadelphia 76ers' home base, so choose carefully when you apply.

Do the Devils run their own internship program?

No. Interns come through HBSE's one Internship Program, which covers the Devils, Prudential Center and the Philadelphia 76ers. HBSE owns and operates all three. Apply on HBSE's Hirebridge board and choose Newark if you want the Devils and Prudential Center.

Is Prudential Center the same as Prudential Financial?

No. Prudential Center is the Newark arena where the Devils play, and its internships come through HBSE. Prudential Financial is a separate insurer with its own internship program. Searching for "Prudential internship" mixes the two, so check the employer name on the posting.

Do Devils interns get full-time offers?

HBSE doesn't publish a conversion rate or class size. Its Elite Sales Recruitment Program is a separate entry-level sales program for graduates, so ask during your internship which full-time paths HBSE hires into. Treat the internship as a foot in the door, not a guaranteed offer.

The Devils' summer 2027 window is expected in early December, about seven weeks away. Use the time: a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week and gives you a finished project to bring to the application.
