The Minnesota Wild don't run a classic student summer internship. Their interns are hired as full-time seasonal staff, and the windows are short. In 2026 the Wild posted nine department internships between 14 July and 8 September, from partnership success and premium sales to the Wild Foundation, mascot operations and social media, and two of them closed on 8 August, about 11 days after going up. Every one paid $16.37 an hour and asked for a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. The summer-start option is the Sales & Service Academy, advertised in April 2026 for recent and upcoming graduates and starting in June. In plain words: if you want to start in summer 2027, watch for the Academy around April 2027; if you want a season role, watch from mid-July 2027. On 3 October 2026 none of the Wild's own intern roles were open on the team's job board.

Nothing is open at the Wild itself today. The next Wild door is the Sales & Service Academy around April 2027, then the department intern wave from mid-July 2027. Two Iowa Wild part-time roles for current students are open now in Des Moines.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most running 8 weeks at 5–10 hours a week. The Khan Academy Strategic Partnerships & Earned Revenue Externship builds the partner and revenue skills behind the Wild's partnership and premium sales interns, and the TikTok Social Media Content & Brand Strategy Externship fits its social media and content roles.

What Is a Minnesota Wild Internship?

A Minnesota Wild internship is a paid, full-time seasonal role with the NHL club in Saint Paul, run by Minnesota Sports & Entertainment (MSE), the company led by majority owner Craig Leipold. MSE hires for five brands on one job board: the Wild, Grand Casino Arena, Saint Paul RiverCentre, the Iowa Wild (the AHL affiliate in Des Moines) and MLV Minnesota volleyball, so check the brand in each title. The Wild's own interns work through the hockey season in departments such as partnerships, premium sales, marketing, community relations and the Wild Foundation. The Sales & Service Academy is a separate track for recent and upcoming graduates that starts in June. MSE says its purpose is to create a Greater State of Hockey.

When Do Minnesota Wild Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

The Wild hire in three intakes a year, none of them a student summer class. The Sales & Service Academy posted around 20 April 2026 for a June start, a lead time of about 1.5 months. Department seasonal interns for the 2026-27 season posted between 14 July and 8 September 2026, one to two months before the season, and where the Wild set a closing date it came 8 to 12 days after posting. Iowa Wild part-time interns for current students posted in the same summer window. We project the same calendar for 2027, but with one dated cycle per track, treat each date as a range.

~April 2027EXPECTEDSHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

Sales & Service Academy applications for a summer 2027 start expected to open, for recent and upcoming graduates. In 2026 it posted around 20 April and started in June, so the window is likely weeks, not months.

~Mid-July – early September 2027EXPECTED

Department seasonal intern postings for the 2027-28 season expected, one role at a time. In 2026 the first went up on 14 July, and two closed on 8 August. Check the board weekly through this stretch.

Summer 2027 and the 2027-28 season

Academy interns start around June 2027; department interns start with the season in the fall. Pay was $16.37 an hour in 2026-27, with benefits listed. The Wild don't publish a return-offer rate.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

This is a short-window program. The Wild post each internship on its own, and the ones with a set closing date stayed up for days, not weeks: Mascot Operations and Community Relations & Hockey Partnerships both closed on 8 August 2026, 11 to 12 days after posting, and Experiential Marketing closed after 8. The Social Media Intern posted on 8 September was off the board by 28 September. Roles without a set date had all come down by late September. With nine roles spread over eight weeks, a reader who checks once a month can miss the role they wanted. Set an alert, check weekly from mid-July, and apply within days.

Which Minnesota Wild Internship Programs Should You Target?

These are the tracks the Wild and MSE posted in 2026. The nine Wild department roles are all closed for 2026-27 and give the clearest picture of the 2027-28 wave.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The Wild's own interns are effectively post-graduate roles, which surprises most students.

• Education: every 2026-27 Wild department posting asked for a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. The Academy was advertised for recent and upcoming graduates, while the Iowa Wild roles ask for students currently pursuing a bachelor's.

• Availability: nights, weekends and holidays for games and events.

• Location and physical: onsite in Saint Paul or Des Moines, with lifting up to 50 pounds.

• Experience: the two premium roles asked for at least a year of customer service or sales experience, and four postings listed hockey knowledge as preferred.

• GPA and work authorization: not stated in any of the intern postings we read.

Can Current Students Get a Wild Internship?

Mostly through the side doors. The Wild's own department interns are full-time seasonal roles that ask for a finished degree or equivalent experience, which rules out most students mid-semester. The Academy's upcoming-graduates wording fits a final-year student who can start in June. Current students should look at the Iowa Wild's part-time roles in Des Moines, which ask for a bachelor's in progress, and two of those are open now.

What Skills Do the Minnesota Wild Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Across the nine Wild department intern postings for 2026-27, availability for nights, weekends and holidays appears in all nine, and attention to detail in eight. Communication and project or event planning come next, followed by a service-first approach to fans and partners. The tools are ordinary office ones: Microsoft Office in five postings, a CRM in three, and Adobe or photography for the partnership, social and revenue marketing roles.

What Is the Minnesota Wild Application and Interview Process Like?

The Wild don't publish interview steps. These come from the careers page and the 2026 postings.

1. Use the MSE board. The careers page links to one board for all five MSE brands, so confirm the title says Minnesota Wild, Iowa Wild or another brand before you apply.

2. Set alerts early. Join the talent community from the careers page and set a TeamWork Online alert in March; it mirrors the same roles.

3. Apply to one department at a time. Each role is a separate posting with its own manager and, sometimes, its own closing date.

4. Show service and availability. Postings ask how you handle fans and guests, including unhappy ones, and expect nights, weekends and holidays.

5. Interview and start. Steps aren't published. Academy interns start around June; department interns start with the season.

Some job sites relabel these roles as summer internships. The Wild's own titles say full-time, seasonal.

What Students on Reddit Say

One recent thread is about a Wild role directly; the other two cover how hockey front offices hire.

When the Wild's media relations staff advertised a game night associate role for current undergraduates and recent grads, the top reply simply noted the $16.37 hourly rate. Commenters argued over the pay, one called it functionally an internship, and another flagged that it also asked for Adobe InDesign and hockey knowledge.

r/hockey consensus, paraphrased (2026) · read the thread

A former business-side staffer at an NHL club said pay is low and hours long because so many people want the job, and a recent graduate added that you'll likely need several internships with smaller teams before a big-league club hires you.

r/hockey consensus, paraphrased (2024) · read the thread

Hockey fans pointed students to TeamWork Online for club jobs, and one said a team lost interest in their application once it learned they weren't local. Others suggested starting with a junior or college club team to get a foot in the door.

How Do You Stand Out for a Minnesota Wild Internship?

Three moves, all doable before April. First, match your track to your year. Graduating seniors fit the Academy and the department roles; current students fit the Iowa Wild, and applying to the wrong one wastes a short window. Second, bring service proof. The two premium postings asked for a year of customer service or sales experience, so a retail, box office or campus ticketing job counts. Third, show you know Minnesota hockey. Several postings preferred hockey knowledge, and the community roles run programs like Hockey Day Minnesota; mention one you'd want to support. The Wild don't publish applicant numbers or a conversion rate, so treat each seat as competitive.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Minnesota Wild internship?

No. The Wild don't run a student summer class, and their 2026-27 seasonal interns posted between July and September 2026 and are all closed. On 3 October 2026 two Iowa Wild part-time roles were open in Des Moines. The next Wild door is the Sales & Service Academy, expected around April 2027 for a June start.

When do Minnesota Wild internship applications open?

It depends on the track. The Sales & Service Academy posted around 20 April 2026 for a June start. Department seasonal interns posted from 14 July to 8 September 2026, one role at a time. We expect the same pattern in 2027, but with one dated cycle per track, treat each date as a range.

How much do Minnesota Wild interns make?

Every 2026-27 Wild department intern posting paid $16.37 an hour and listed medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, since the roles are full-time seasonal. The 2025-26 Foundation intern paid $15.97. The Iowa Wild part-time intern postings don't state pay, and the Academy's rate wasn't in any source we found.

Do I need a degree for a Minnesota Wild internship?

For the Wild's own department interns, yes or close to it: every 2026-27 posting asked for a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. The Academy was advertised for recent and upcoming graduates. If you're still in school, the Iowa Wild's part-time interns ask for a bachelor's in progress.

What is the Minnesota Wild Sales & Service Academy?

It's the Wild's training track for recent and upcoming graduates who want to start in ticket sales and service. It was advertised around 20 April 2026, and academy interns started in June. The Wild frame it as a way to launch a sports-industry career, but they don't publish class size or how many are hired afterward.

Is there a GPA requirement for Minnesota Wild internships?

No GPA appears in any of the Wild, Iowa Wild or MLV intern postings we read. The postings focus on a related degree or equivalent experience, availability on nights, weekends and holidays, service experience and, for several roles, hockey knowledge. A finished project or portfolio matched to one department helps more.

Where are Minnesota Wild internships located?

The Wild's interns work in Saint Paul, at Grand Casino Arena, which was called Xcel Energy Center until September 2025, and at MSE's offices there. Iowa Wild interns work in Des Moines. Every role is onsite, with game nights and events, so plan on living nearby for the season.

Is a Minnesota Wild internship the same as an NHL internship?

No. The NHL league office in New York runs its own summer program on a different calendar, usually with a short window around February. The Wild hire through Minnesota Sports & Entertainment on their own board. Both post on TeamWork Online, so check the organization name on every listing.

The Wild's next door opens around April, and its season roles move fast in July. Spend the months before on a remote Externship so your application points at finished work.
