| Application window (2027–28) | Open now, practice by practice, for summer 2027 and spring 2027. The seven US postings went up between August 12 and October 14, 2026. Stated closes: Milwaukee IT Support (school year, part time) October 30, 2026; Seattle Health December 15, 2026; spring 2027 AI Product Engineer March 17, 2027; spring 2027 Omaha IT Support March 25, 2027. The Chicago Life/FRM and the two IntelliScript postings state no close. Summer 2028: expected from about August to September 2027, low confidence (one cycle observed) |
| Rolling? | Mixed. Four postings give an "expected" close date and three give none, and the board only shows open postings, so treat every date as an estimate and apply early |
| Eligibility | Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree. Chicago Life/FRM wants at least one Society of Actuaries exam completed and active work toward FSA, FRM or CFA; IntelliScript actuarial requires one actuarial exam passed; Seattle Health lists SOA exams among its qualifications, expected graduation December 2027 to June 2029, and a 3.3 GPA as preferred. Every posting requires US work authorization without sponsorship now or in the future |
| Duration | Seattle Health: 12 weeks within May to August 2027, onsite full time. Chicago: summer or co-op term with a May 2027 start. IntelliScript: summer 2027, length not stated. Spring 2027 postings: January to June 2027. Milwaukee IT Support: the 2026–27 school year, 10 to 30 hours a week |

The IT Support postings publish no figure. Milliman's careers page offers provided housing or a housing stipend depending on location |
| Return offers | Not published as a rate. The Omaha IT Support posting lists the "prospect of securing a full-time position with Milliman" among its benefits |
| Locations | In person: Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Brookfield (Milwaukee), WI; Omaha, NE. The Milwaukee IT Support posting says candidates must already be local, with no relocation or housing help |
| # Programs | 7 US postings (8 requisitions, because the AI Product Engineer role is posted as full time and part time): Life/FRM actuarial, Seattle Health actuarial, IntelliScript actuarial and data analytics, CMH Health AI Product Engineer, and IT Support in Milwaukee and Omaha |
Last updated: October 2026
Milliman has no single internship deadline: each practice posts and closes its own. On October 26, 2026, its own job board listed seven US internship postings, from a Chicago Life and financial risk management actuarial internship with a May 2027 start to a Seattle Health actuarial internship that's "expected to close on December 15, 2026." The first close is October 30, 2026, for a part-time IT support internship in Milwaukee. Posted pay runs from $19 to $46 an hour. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and the clock depends on which practice you pick.
What Is a Milliman Internship?
A Milliman internship is a paid student placement at Milliman, Inc., the Seattle-based actuarial and consulting firm that calls itself "independent for over 75 years." There's no firm-wide program: each practice and office hires its own interns. This cycle that means actuarial interns in Chicago, Seattle and Brookfield, Wisconsin, a data analytics intern at IntelliScript, a Generative AI product engineer intern for the CMH Health practice, and IT support interns in Milwaukee and Omaha. Milliman says interns present a business project to firm leadership at the end. It doesn't publish a class size.

When Do Milliman Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Milliman's postings arrived in waves, one practice at a time. Chicago Life/FRM went up on August 12, 2026, the two IntelliScript roles on August 27, Seattle Health on September 16, Milwaukee IT Support on September 24, the spring AI Product Engineer roles on October 2 and Omaha IT Support on October 14. That puts the summer 2027 postings about 8 to 9 months ahead of a May 2027 start. Milliman's board shows only open postings, and we couldn't read last cycle's posting dates, so the summer 2028 window is a projection from this one cycle: expect the first postings from about August to September 2027, with low confidence.
Applications are open for all seven US internship postings. Pick the practice and city, then read that posting's own close date, because a Chicago Life/FRM posting and a Milwaukee IT posting follow different calendars.
The Milwaukee Property and Casualty IT Support internship (part time, school year 2026–27, onsite in Brookfield) states an expected application deadline of October 30, 2026.
The Seattle Health actuarial internship (12 weeks, May to August 2027) says it's expected to close on December 15, 2026. Upload a resume and a cover letter. The Chicago Life/FRM and IntelliScript summer postings state no close date, so don't wait for December.
Spring 2027 interns work January to June: the AI Product Engineer postings expect to close March 17, 2027, and the Omaha IT Support posting March 25, 2027.
May 2027 starts for Chicago and Seattle. Summer 2028 postings are expected from about August to September 2027, low confidence.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Milliman's calendar is by practice, and the dates it gives are "expected," not guaranteed. The Milwaukee IT Support internship expects to close October 30, 2026 and Seattle Health December 15, 2026, but the Chicago Life/FRM posting, up since August 12, and both IntelliScript postings state no close at all. Milliman's board shows only open postings, so a role can disappear without notice once the practice fills it. That makes the earlier you apply the safer, and it makes the posting's own date, not this page, the thing to trust.
Which Milliman Internship Programs Should You Target?
Each practice runs its own internship, so the table lists them posting by posting.
| Program | Focus | Duration | Key skills |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actuarial Intern, Life/FRM/LTS (Chicago) | Mergers and acquisitions support or financial risk management for life insurers, plus life technology solutions modeling | Summer or co-op, May 2027 start | Actuarial science or math student, one SOA exam, pursuing FSA, FRM or CFA; Excel, VBA |
| Actuarial Analyst Intern (Seattle Health) | Actuarial models for pricing and forecasting for health plans and health care organizations | 12 weeks, May to August 2027, onsite | SOA exam(s), Excel, SQL, SAS or R; 3.3 GPA preferred |
| Actuarial Intern and Data Analytics Intern (IntelliScript, Brookfield WI) | Data analysis for software-as-a-service products serving insurance, health IT and life sciences clients | Summer 2027 | Actuarial: one exam passed; data analytics: math, data science or statistics student; Excel, SQL, VBA, data visualization |

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Requirements differ by practice. These come from the seven US postings we read on October 26, 2026.
• Education: every posting asks for a current student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree. Actuarial postings name actuarial science, mathematics or a related quantitative field; IntelliScript data analytics names data science and statistics; the AI Product Engineer role will consider other majors for students with shown software aptitude.
• Actuarial exams: Chicago Life/FRM wants at least one SOA exam completed and active pursuit of the FSA, FRM or CFA. IntelliScript actuarial requires one actuarial exam passed. Seattle Health lists SOA exams among its qualifications.
• GPA: only Seattle Health states one, a college GPA of 3.3 or higher, listed as preferred.
• Class year: Seattle Health asks for expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2029. The other postings state no class year.
• Work authorization: every posting says you must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. The Milwaukee IT posting adds that this includes international students.

Do You Need an Actuarial Exam?
For the actuarial postings, yes: one passed exam is the entry ticket at IntelliScript and Seattle Health lists it, and Chicago expects you to be actively working toward a designation. The data analytics, AI Product Engineer and IT Support postings don't ask for an exam, so students outside the actuarial track have routes here.

Across the seven postings, three things come up most. Communication and organization: every posting asks for communication skills and for organization, time management or prioritizing. Detail matters too: attention to detail is named in four.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill in the chart maps to a remote Externship you can finish while the postings are still open.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Valuation and financial modeling | Chicago Life/FRM: valuation, pricing, modeling, hedging and risk analysis | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis and Private Company Valuation |
| Excel-based modeling | Excel appears in four postings; Chicago adds VBA | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| SQL and data analysis | IntelliScript and Seattle Health list SQL, SAS, R and VBA | SQL & Database Architecture with Breaking Games |
| Health data analytics | Seattle Health: analyze healthcare data and produce reports with spreadsheets and databases | ARCeH Data Analytics, Health Outcomes |
| Healthcare operations | Seattle Health and CMH Health: health plan, provider and client work | Institute of Mental Health Healthcare Operations & Consulting |
The overlap is closest on modeling and data. No open Externship teaches actuarial exam content or insurance regulation, so those still need study through the exam bodies.
What Is the Milliman Application and Interview Process Like?
Milliman's postings describe applying through its job board, and interview formats vary by practice.
1. Apply on the job board. Pick the posting for your practice and city. Seattle Health asks for a resume and cover letter, and the AI Product Engineer role asks for a resume, a short cover letter and a GitHub or code portfolio link.
2. Interviews. The format depends on the practice. Milliman doesn't publish the stages or timing.
3. Technical assessment. One data science candidate in 2024 describes a behavioral interview followed by an online technical assessment built to match the job.
4. Offer. Milliman states no offer dates.
Milliman publishes no interview questions, so the details below are community-reported.
What Students on Reddit Say
Past interns on r/actuary talk about the workload and how it varies by office, and one candidate describes the technical assessment. These are 2022 and 2024 threads.
Past interns call the program well rounded, with the workload arriving in bursts: a month or two of nonstop deliverables, then a slow stretch. They built SAS and Excel skills, some VBA, and preferred on-site over remote.
One current analyst says interns are treated like new analysts and the summer is close to an audition for full time, and another says most of their intern class got offers. Both say the experience depends heavily on the office and the manager.
A candidate told to expect an online technical assessment after a behavioral interview got replies that reviewers care about problem-solving more than memorized knowledge, that data science tests lean on SQL and pandas, and that a health practice's test was easy but hard to study for.
How Do You Stand Out at Milliman?
First, choose the practice on purpose. Hiring is by practice, so name the one you want and why: life M&A in Chicago, health plans in Seattle, or insurance data products at IntelliScript. Second, bring the credential the posting names. For the actuarial roles that's a passed exam, and for the AI Product Engineer role it's a GitHub link with real projects. Third, include the cover letter where it's asked for. Milliman doesn't publish applicant counts or a conversion rate, so no number is quoted; community posts say many interns in a class get full-time offers, which is anecdotal.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Milliman internship?
No. Summer 2026 internships ran last summer and are over, and Milliman's board shows only open postings, so we couldn't read the 2026 posting dates. The cycle open now is summer 2027: seven US internship postings went up between August 12 and October 14, 2026, practice by practice.
When do Milliman internship applications close?
There's no single date. Milwaukee's school-year IT Support internship expects to close October 30, 2026, and Seattle Health expects December 15, 2026. The Chicago Life/FRM and IntelliScript postings state none, and the spring 2027 postings expect March 17 and March 25, 2027. These are Milliman's expected dates.
How much do Milliman interns earn?
Posted ranges run from $19 to $46 an hour: $23 to $46 for Chicago Life/FRM and Seattle Health, $21 to $46 for IntelliScript actuarial, and $19 to $35 for IntelliScript data analytics. The IT Support postings publish no figure. Milliman's careers page offers provided housing or a stipend depending on location.
Do I need actuarial exams to intern at Milliman?
For the actuarial postings, yes. IntelliScript requires one passed exam, Seattle Health lists SOA exams, and Chicago Life/FRM wants one completed and an active pursuit of FSA, FRM or CFA. Data analytics, AI Product Engineer and IT Support postings don't ask for an exam.
Can international students apply to Milliman internships?
Only if no sponsorship is needed. Every posting we read says candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman, now or in the future, and the Milwaukee IT posting adds that this includes international students.
Where are the Milliman internships and how long are they?
They're in person in Chicago, Seattle, Brookfield near Milwaukee, and Omaha. Seattle Health is 12 weeks between May and August 2027, Chicago starts in May 2027, and the spring postings run January to June 2027. IntelliScript doesn't state a length.
What is the Milliman internship interview process?
It varies by practice, and Milliman publishes no stages or timing. After you apply on its job board, one data science candidate in 2024 describes a behavioral interview followed by an online technical assessment. Treat that as one practice's experience, not a firm-wide process.
Do Milliman interns get full-time offers?
Milliman doesn't publish a conversion rate. The Omaha IT Support posting lists the prospect of a full-time position as a benefit, and past interns on Reddit describe the summer as close to an audition. Treat any percentage you see on job-board sites as unverified.
Pick your practice, read its posting's close date, and apply this week with the cover letter or portfolio link it asks for. While you wait, a remote Externship gives you a finished model or data project to talk about in the interview.
