# ProgramsOne Summer Internship Program with 7 tracks: Actuarial, Advanced Analytics, State Management Analytics, IT Product Engineering, Internal Audit, Business Process Engineering, Claims Innovation

Last updated: October 2026

MAPFRE USA's summer 2027 internships are open right now, about two months earlier than last year. On October 5, 2026 its job board listed seven summer 2027 internships, posted between September 8 and October 3, 2026, all for one 10-week cohort from June 7 to August 13, 2027 in Webster, Massachusetts. Last year's postings didn't appear until November 2025. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and at MAPFRE the door is already open.

Pay is published on every posting: $29 to $31 an hour for the actuarial, analytics, IT, internal audit and process tracks, and $20 to $22 for Claims Innovation. No posting states a deadline, so apply this month.

What Is a MAPFRE USA Internship?

A MAPFRE USA internship is a paid, 10-week summer program at MAPFRE U.S.A. Corp., the US arm of Spain's MAPFRE, based in Webster, Massachusetts. Interns join one team for the summer, from actuarial and analytics to IT, audit, process engineering and claims, and finish projects they present to leaders, alongside training, networking and a team volunteer day. MAPFRE USA began as the Commerce Insurance Company, founded in Webster in 1972 and bought by MAPFRE in 2008. It calls itself the largest auto and home insurer in Massachusetts and serves policyholders in 11 states, per its Who We Are page. In July 2026 it agreed to buy Safety Insurance for about $1.54 billion.

When Do MAPFRE USA Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

MAPFRE USA runs one summer cohort and posts it on a single board. For summer 2027 the first roles went up on September 8, 2026, and the wave was still adding roles on October 2 and 3, about nine months before the June 7 start. Last cycle was later: summer 2026 roles posted on November 6 and 16, 2025 for a June 1 start. Because the window moved about two months in one year, applications for summer 2028 are expected in fall 2027, but treat that as low confidence and watch the board from August 2027.

Summer 2027

The internship runs June 7 to August 13, 2027, with training, job shadowing, a team Day of Caring and a final presentation to leaders. Summer 2028 applications are expected in fall 2027 (low confidence: the window moved two months in a year), so start checking in August 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

MAPFRE USA reviews applications on a rolling basis. None of the seven postings gives a closing date, which means a role can be filled and taken down without warning. The roles also sit on a board that's easy to miss: it opens in Spanish by default, and one internship, Claims Innovation & Customer Experience, has no "Intern" in its title. With the wave posting two months earlier than last year, the applicants who find these roles in October are the ones being reviewed first.

Which MAPFRE USA Internship Programs Should You Target?

MAPFRE USA's seven summer 2027 roles share one program, one 10-week calendar and one Webster headquarters.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

MAPFRE sets eligibility per track. What the seven postings say:

• Enrollment: a current college student; the IT posting says you must be enrolled in an accredited degree program.

• Class year: rising juniors or seniors for Claims, IT, Internal Audit and Business Process Engineering (master's students also eligible for the last two); final-year graduate students preferred for Advanced Analytics and State Management Analytics; bachelor's or master's students for Actuarial.

• Actuarial exam: the actuarial track requires at least one passed exam; no other track lists one.

• Majors: actuarial science, math, statistics or economics for actuarial; data science, computer science, economics or business for analytics; IT or computer science for IT; accounting, finance or information systems for audit.

• GPA and work authorization: none of the seven postings states a GPA floor or a sponsorship policy, so ask the recruiter if sponsorship matters to you.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at MAPFRE USA?

None is published. None of the seven summer 2027 postings mentions a GPA. The firmer screens are elsewhere: one passed actuarial exam for the actuarial track, a preference for final-year graduate students on both analytics tracks, and an on-site Webster program that the IT posting says needs your own transportation. Check those before you apply.

What Skills Does MAPFRE USA Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Every MAPFRE posting asks for communication and analytical problem solving, and five of seven ask interns to present findings to leaders. Beyond that the tracks split: actuarial and analytics want SQL and Python or R, with an actuarial exam for the actuarial role; IT wants AWS, Linux and security tools; audit and process engineering want Excel, PowerPoint and process-improvement thinking; claims wants curiosity about customers, with coding a plus.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each MAPFRE skill maps to a remote Externship you can work on while your application is in review.

The SQL match matters most for the two analytics tracks, which prefer final-year graduate students: a finished SQL project is how an undergraduate shows the "strong database skills" they ask for.

What Is the MAPFRE USA Application and Interview Process Like?

MAPFRE USA doesn't publish its intern interview steps. What the board and postings tell you:

1. Find the roles in English. Open the board with locale=en_US; the default Spanish view returns no US internships.

2. Apply to each track separately. Every track is its own posting; you can apply with a resume or your LinkedIn profile.

3. Check the track's hard requirement first. Actuarial needs a passed exam; the analytics tracks prefer final-year graduate students; IT needs your own transportation to Webster.

4. Interviews. Steps and timing aren't published. Prepare to walk through one analysis you've done, since five of seven postings end with presenting findings to leaders.

5. Offer and start. The cohort starts June 7, 2027 in Webster (IT on June 6).

How Do You Stand Out for a MAPFRE USA Internship?

Three moves. First, apply in October. The roles are live with no deadline, and most students still expect MAPFRE to post in November. Second, meet the track's real gate. For actuarial, get an exam on your resume; for the analytics tracks, show SQL and a finished project, since they prefer final-year graduate students; for IT, show AWS or Linux security work. Third, know Massachusetts auto. The State Management Analytics posting lists projects such as finding unprofitable driver segments and studying claims cost trends, and MAPFRE says its pending Safety Insurance deal would make it New England's second-largest private passenger auto writer. A sharp view on either is an easy interview edge. MAPFRE publishes no applicant count or conversion rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 MAPFRE USA internship?

No. Summer 2026 has already run. The open door is summer 2027: on October 5, 2026 MAPFRE USA had seven internships live in Webster, Massachusetts, for June 7 to August 13, 2027. None states a deadline, so apply this month rather than waiting for November.

When do MAPFRE USA summer 2027 applications close?

No posting states a closing date. The seven roles went up between September 8 and October 3, 2026 and review is rolling, so a role can come down once it's filled. Apply in October, and check the board weekly in case new tracks are added.

How much do MAPFRE USA interns make?

The postings publish pay: $29 to $31 an hour for the actuarial, advanced analytics, state management analytics, IT, internal audit and business process engineering internships, and $20 to $22 an hour for Claims Innovation & Customer Experience. The postings don't mention housing or relocation support.

Where is the MAPFRE USA internship located?

All seven summer 2027 roles are based at MAPFRE USA's headquarters in Webster, Massachusetts, near Worcester, and Advanced Analytics also lists Boston. None is advertised as remote, and the IT posting says you must be able to provide your own transportation, so plan for a car.

Do I need an actuarial exam for MAPFRE's internship?

For the Actuarial Intern role, yes: the posting requires at least one completed actuarial exam, plus Excel, with Python, R, SQL or SAS a plus. The analytics, IT, audit, process engineering and claims internships don't list an exam, so non-actuarial students can still apply to those.

Who can apply for MAPFRE USA internships?

College students, with class year set by track. Claims, IT, audit and process engineering want rising juniors or seniors, and audit and process engineering also take master's students. Both analytics tracks prefer final-year graduate students, and actuarial takes bachelor's or master's students. No posting states a GPA floor.

Did MAPFRE's internship applications open earlier this year?

Yes. Summer 2026 roles posted on November 6 and 16, 2025. Summer 2027 roles started posting on September 8, 2026, about two months earlier. Because the window moved that much in one year, start checking for summer 2028 roles in August 2027 rather than assuming either date.

Is MAPFRE USA the same as MAPFRE in Spain or Puerto Rico?

MAPFRE USA, formerly the Commerce Insurance Company in Webster, is the US personal-lines arm of Spain's MAPFRE S.A. These internships are MAPFRE USA's. MAPFRE Puerto Rico and MAPFRE's Spanish and Latin American businesses hire separately, and the shared job board shows them unless you use the US view.

MAPFRE USA's seven summer 2027 internships are open now with no stated deadline. Apply this month, and build proof in parallel: a remote Externship gives you a finished analysis to present in a MAPFRE interview.
