A HARMAN internship is a paid summer program at HARMAN International, the connected-technology and audio company behind brands such as JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG and Mark Levinson. HARMAN is a Samsung subsidiary and runs its own US recruiting on its own job board, separate from Samsung's internship program. Its career story describes a 12-week US program in which interns work on projects across departments. Past US roles span automotive software and testing in Novi, audio engineering and supply chain in Northridge, and corporate communications in Stamford.

When Do HARMAN Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

HARMAN posts US summer interns in the new year, about 4 months before a mid-May start. The 2025 wave carried a posted date of 21 January to 5 March 2025 for sixteen US roles, per an archive capture of HARMAN's board, with more roles added in April and May 2025. For summer 2026 we captured Summer Intern roles on HARMAN's board on 16 to 19 February 2026, again with additions in April. We couldn't read closing dates, so the summer 2027 window below is an expectation based on two cycles.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These requirements come from HARMAN's own 2025 and 2026 US Summer Intern postings in Novi, Michigan.

• Enrollment: currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or higher at an accredited institution, having completed your sophomore year or later, with at least one class in the term before the internship and returning to school for at least one more semester.

• GPA: a cumulative 3.0 minimum.

• Work authorization: "unrestricted work authorization", so plan for no sponsorship unless a posting says otherwise.

• Availability: the full program dates (May 19 to August 8 in 2025, May 18 to August 7 in 2026) at 40 hours a week.

• Logistics: provide your own housing and transportation to and from work. A background investigation and drug screen are conditions of employment.

• Coursework: the 2025 System Requirements role asked for mechanical or electrical engineering courses; other roles list their own.

Can First-Year Students Apply?

Probably not for these postings. HARMAN's 2025 pay table lists a freshman rate, but the same posting required completing your sophomore year or later. The freshman line in a pay table can't be read as an invitation to first-years. Read the enrollment line of each posting.

What Skills Does HARMAN Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

We could read only two full US postings, so there is no skill frequency chart. The 2026 System Test role asks for C, C++ or Python, embedded systems, microcontrollers and real-time concepts, with AI and machine learning basics as a plus, and describes writing Python test scripts and running overnight regression tests. The 2025 System Requirements role asks for Excel, Word and PowerPoint and interest in audio or automotive technology. Both ask for strong written and verbal communication.

First, meet the filters exactly: a 3.0 GPA, sophomore year completed and unrestricted work authorization. Second, match one site and function, since Novi roles are automotive software and test and Northridge roles are audio and supply chain. Show a project in the tools the posting names, such as Python test scripts or an Excel model. Third, apply in the first weeks after the January postings. HARMAN publishes no applicant counts or conversion rate.
