Panasonic's summer 2027 internship applications close at the end of this month. On 25 October 2026 the Panasonic North America careers board listed 58 US intern-titled requisitions: 47 at Panasonic Energy (26 in Sparks, Nevada and 21 in De Soto, Kansas), 9 at Hussmann, and one each at Panasonic Eco Solutions North America and Panasonic Energy Sales Company of America. The Panasonic Energy page says its process "closes at the end of each October," and a Hussmann safety intern req names 31 October 2026. In plain words: you apply by the end of October 2026, you intern from mid-May to early August 2027. This guide covers Panasonic's US companies only; Panasonic Corporation's programs in Japan and Panasonic Canada roles are outside it.

What Is a Panasonic Internship?

A Panasonic internship is a paid US summer placement at one of Panasonic Corporation of North America's operating companies, not one single program. Panasonic Energy, which makes lithium-ion batteries at the Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada and a plant in De Soto, Kansas, posts most roles. Hussmann, a Panasonic Group commercial-refrigeration company in Bridgeton, Missouri, runs its own 2027 Summer Internship Program, and corporate companies such as Panasonic Eco Solutions post single roles. All of them recruit on one board, careers.na.panasonic.com, and the company says it has "over 240,000 people" worldwide.

When Do Panasonic Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Panasonic runs the same calendar every year, per its Energy page: the process opens in early September and closes at the end of October. This cycle Panasonic Energy's De Soto reqs went up on 28 September and its Sparks and remaining De Soto reqs between 6 and 12 October, while Hussmann's started on 31 August and the newest, Product Management, appeared on 23 October. The first Energy posting came about 7.6 months before the planned 17 May 2027 start, and the first Hussmann posting about 8.5 months before a late-May start.

An archived July 2025 copy of the Energy page said the Summer 2025 process ran from September to November 2024, so this year's window is about a month shorter. We expect summer 2028 postings from early September 2027, with moderate confidence.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

This is a hard cutoff, not a rolling window. Panasonic Energy's page says the application process "closes at the end of each October," and the Hussmann Chino req names 31 October 2026. The other reqs show no date, so the company page is the only guide to when they stop.

Reqs also come down early. Our 17 October pull found 12 Hussmann intern reqs; on 25 October it had 9, because four had gone and one new Product Management role had been added. One of the gone reqs, Data Engineering, now returns a 404. Apply within days, not at the deadline, and use the Talent Community for the next cycle if you miss this one.

Which Panasonic Internship Programs Should You Target?

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Eligibility depends on the operating company, and the reqs state it plainly:

• Panasonic Energy class year: currently enrolled and two years of undergraduate study completed; master's students are eligible too, per the Energy page.

• Panasonic Energy GPA: at least 3.2.

• Hussmann: currently enrolled and pursuing at least a bachelor's degree, with a 3.0 GPA on the reqs we read; the Legal intern req asks for a Juris Doctor student with one year of law school completed.

• Work authorization: Panasonic Energy applicants "must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, O-1, TN, L-1)," for the internship or a later full-time role.

• Attendance: Energy interns must attend the entire program, from the start date to the end date on the req.

• Housing: Energy interns outside the Reno/Sparks and De Soto areas get "competitive wages along with stipends," but relocation costs aren't covered.

Can International Students Apply?

Not to Panasonic Energy if you need sponsorship. The current page rules it out for the internship and any later full-time role. An archived July 2025 copy of the same page said the company accepted international students whose CPT was approved by their university, and that sentence is gone. Hussmann and the corporate reqs we read don't state a sponsorship rule, so ask the recruiter before applying.

What Skills Does Panasonic Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Across the 58 US intern reqs, the common asks are problem solving and troubleshooting, communication skills and Microsoft Office. Energy's engineering reqs add process development, data analysis and tolerancing, and name tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python and MATLAB; the Cell & Process Engineering intern req asks for "process development/improvement, troubleshooting, data analysis, tolerancing." Hussmann interns finish the summer by presenting a business proposal to a panel of judges and executives.

What Is the Panasonic Application and Interview Process Like?

Panasonic doesn't publish an interview guide, but its board and reqs show how to apply:

1. Search the board. Go to careers.na.panasonic.com/jobs, search "intern" and filter by company: Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America or Hussmann Corporation.

2. Apply through iCIMS. "Apply Now" on each req opens Panasonic's iCIMS candidate portal; apply to each role that fits.

3. Interviews. The format isn't published for Energy or Hussmann; the Hussmann reqs describe a summer that ends with a business-proposal presentation.

4. Offer and logistics. Energy interns arrange housing with a stipend if they live outside Reno/Sparks or De Soto, and must attend the full program.

5. Stay in touch. Join the Talent Community for alerts if a role you want isn't open yet.

The Energy and corporate reqs also say the role isn't eligible for company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance.

Reddit has almost no first-hand discussion of Panasonic's US internships. The few threads are a canceled Panasonic Avionics software interview from 2025 and a 2021 UIUC post about a Research Park internship, neither with usable detail, so we don't quote them. The best source is the reqs themselves.

How Do You Stand Out for a Panasonic Internship?

Three moves, based on the reqs.

First, apply to the specific operating company, not to Panasonic in general. Energy wants a 3.2 GPA and two completed years; Hussmann asks for 3.0. Tailor your resume to the req's duties, such as cell manufacturing process improvement or sales operations quoting.

Second, show hands-on, plant-ready work. Energy reqs say you may move between the manufacturing floor and an office, and many mention safety, quality and productivity.

Third, check sponsorship before you invest. Panasonic doesn't publish applicant counts or a conversion rate, so no figure is quoted here.
