Last updated: October 2026

Epsilon Economics hires Summer Analysts in Chicago, but it doesn't post the job. When we checked on October 12, 2026, the firm's Join Us page was blank, it had no applicant system, and we found no listing for the role on the public job boards we searched. The proof that the program exists comes from the firm itself: three people on its staff pages were Summer Analysts before joining full-time, and public profiles show a summer 2026 class that worked from June to August.

So this isn't a deadline guide. Epsilon publishes no application window, no pay and no class size. The next class is summer 2027, and the working assumption is that recruiting happens during fall 2026 through campus channels, as it does at other economic consulting firms. That's an assumption from the sector, not a fact about Epsilon. Below is what's documented, what isn't, and how students get in.

What Is an Epsilon Economics Internship?

An Epsilon Economics internship is a Summer Analyst role, running June to August, at Epsilon Economics, a Chicago economic consulting firm. The firm describes itself as "a firm of economists and financial analysts who specialize in economic analysis, analytics, and strategy." Much of its work supports litigation: antitrust, intellectual property, pharmaceutical and finance disputes. It's small, in Vault's 11 to 50 employee band, and it ranks #23 on Vault's Consulting 50 (2026 edition), where it's listed together with its sister unit as "Epsilon Economics and Epsilon Life Sciences." Its Vault profile also places it #2 for hours in the office. Two name checks: this isn't Epsilon, the marketing and data company, and it isn't the Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society, which fills most search results for the name.

When Do Epsilon Economics Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Epsilon Economics doesn't publish an answer. Its Join Us page has no listings, and an archived copy from 2019 shows the same empty page, so this doesn't look like a temporary gap. Here's what is dated. Interns' public profiles list the Summer Analyst role as June to August in 2020, 2022 and 2026, and one summer 2026 intern announced the role in mid-June 2026. None of those dates says when the offer was made. Other economic consulting firms recruit in the fall for the following summer, roughly eight to ten months ahead. Applying that to Epsilon is an assumption, and the timeline below labels it that way. The firm's operations lead describes representing it "at top tier universities through information sessions, internship programs, and career fairs," which points to campus recruiting as the main route.

No Summer Analyst posting exists for summer 2027, and the firm's careers page is blank. The next class is summer 2027. Ask your career office whether Epsilon Economics visits your school, and search your school's job board for the firm by name.

While you work the campus route, the Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship or the TruBridge Healthcare Data Analytics Externship gives you a finished analytical project to describe in a first conversation.
October to December 2026EXPECTED

Assumed recruiting season for summer 2027, based on how other economic consulting firms hire. Epsilon publishes no dates. If your school has no campus session, write to the firm through its contact page during this stretch.

Interviews · timing not published

Vault insiders, describing full-time analyst hiring, report a phone screen, in-person interviews with four or five people, and a researched presentation on an economic question. Whether Summer Analysts go through all of it isn't stated.

June 2027EXPECTED

Summer Analysts for summer 2027 are expected to start in Chicago, if the firm repeats the June start that interns listed in 2020, 2022 and 2026.

August 2027EXPECTED

The internship is expected to end. No return-offer rate is published, but the firm's staff pages show former Summer Analysts now working there full-time.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

At Epsilon Economics there's no application week, because there's no public application. So the usual advice doesn't apply, and we won't pretend the firm has a rolling process or a deadline. Neither is documented. What the evidence does support is acting in the fall and not waiting for a listing. The careers page is empty today and an archived 2019 copy looks the same, the firm's own staff describe recruiting through information sessions and career fairs, and the class is small: we could identify two interns from summer 2026. A campus session is easy to miss and doesn't repeat. If Epsilon doesn't visit your school, a short, specific note through the contact page costs nothing, and sending it in October or November matches when comparable firms hire.

Which Epsilon Economics Internship Programs Should You Target?

Epsilon has one student role, and the firm itself publishes nothing about it beyond staff bios.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Epsilon publishes no eligibility rules. This is what can be observed, with the source for each:

• Class year: not published. Both summer 2026 interns we could identify were class of 2027, which means rising seniors, per their public profiles.

• School: not published. A Vault insider says candidates come "from a tier 1 university (most of the analysts in Chicago are from Northwestern or the University of Chicago)."

• Major: "strong analytical skills (agnostic to major)," per a Vault insider. Staff bios show economics, data science, physics, industrial engineering and accountancy.

• GPA: not published.

• Work authorization and sponsorship: not published. Ask before you invest time.

Do You Have to Be at Northwestern or UChicago?

It helps, and it isn't a rule. The insider quote about Northwestern and the University of Chicago matches the two summer 2026 interns we could identify, one from each school. A second Vault insider says, "We have been trying to diversify our recruiting from different schools," and one current employee who started as a Summer Analyst studied at the University of Illinois. If you're outside those schools, there's no form to fill in, so your first message has to do the work: say why economic consulting, why this firm, and what analysis you've done.

What Skills Does Epsilon Economics Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

With no posting, the skills picture comes from staff bios and Vault's insider survey. Analysts apply "economic theory and econometric methods in the context of complex litigation," so econometrics and careful data work come first. Reasoning about cause and damages is second: the firm's written interview prompt asks candidates to evaluate economic harm to different parties. Valuation appears in the interview questions insiders quote, and clear presentation matters because candidates research a topic and present it. Insiders also mention "high attention to detail." No Epsilon source names specific software.

Note: We haven't drawn a skills chart for Epsilon Economics. The firm has never posted the Summer Analyst role where we could find it, so there are no job descriptions to count. The skills above come from the firm's staff bios and from Vault's insider survey of its full-time employees, read in October 2026.

For Epsilon Economics applicants: Epsilon's own careers page had no listings on October 12, 2026, and the firm has no applicant system, so market posting counts won't tell you when it hires. Use your school's recruiting channel or the firm's contact page, and apply in parallel to economic consulting firms that do post.

Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

No Externship teaches econometrics for litigation. These three give you finished analytical work to describe, which is what a first conversation with a small firm runs on.

Pair any of these with coursework in econometrics. A regression you ran on a real dataset, with a result you can defend, is the closest thing to the job.

What Is the Epsilon Economics Application and Interview Process Like?

There's no online application to describe. The steps below combine the routes on record with Vault insiders' accounts of full-time analyst hiring:

1. Find the campus route. The firm's operations lead describes visiting "top tier universities through information sessions, internship programs, and career fairs." Ask your career office and search your school's job board.

2. Or contact the firm directly. Use the contact page on its site, since the Join Us page has no listings.

3. Phone screen. Vault insiders describe a phone interview as the first step.

4. In-person interviews. Insiders report a round at the Chicago office "with around four to five mid- to senior-level people." Analyst questions are described as mostly behavioral and background-based.

5. Written prompt and presentation. One insider says the prompt "picks a topical subject (like the opioid crises)" and asks the candidate to evaluate economic harms, to see how they think about causation.

These accounts come from full-time hires, and Epsilon doesn't say whether Summer Analyst candidates do every step. For the behavioral questions, see our behavioral interview guide.

What Insiders Say on Vault

Reddit has nothing on this firm; searches return the Omicron Delta Epsilon honor society. These cards use Vault's survey of Epsilon's employees.

Employees describe hiring as a phone screen, then an office visit with four or five mid-level and senior people, then a follow-up conversation with firm leadership.

How Do You Stand Out for an Epsilon Economics Internship?

Three moves. First, don't wait for a posting. We couldn't find one for any year. Work the campus channel if your school has one, and otherwise send a specific note this fall. Second, prepare a causation answer. Practice the two prompts insiders quote: economic harm from the opioid crisis, and the value of a smartphone camera patent. For each, say what you'd measure, what you'd compare it against, and what could mislead you. Third, put econometrics on the page. Name a dataset, a method and a result, since analysts here apply "economic theory and econometric methods" to live cases. Then apply in parallel to the economic consulting firms that do post openings, listed below. Epsilon publishes no applicant count, class size or return-offer rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Epsilon Economics internship?

No. The summer 2026 Summer Analyst class worked from June to August 2026 and is finished. The next class is summer 2027. Epsilon Economics has no public application for it: the firm's careers page is blank, so the route is your school's recruiting channel or a direct note through the firm's contact page.

When does Epsilon Economics recruit for summer 2027?

It isn't published. No dated posting, deadline or information-session notice exists for any Epsilon cycle we could find. Other economic consulting firms recruit in the fall for the following summer, so fall 2026 is the working assumption for summer 2027. Treat that as a guide from the sector, not a confirmed Epsilon date.

How do I apply for the Epsilon Economics Summer Analyst role?

There's no online application. The firm's Join Us page has no listings and it uses no applicant system. Its operations lead describes recruiting through information sessions, internship programs and career fairs at universities, so start with your career office and school job board, then write to the firm through its contact page.

Is Epsilon Economics the same company as Epsilon?

No. Epsilon Economics is a Chicago economic and litigation consulting firm with a sister unit, Epsilon Life Sciences. Epsilon is a much larger marketing and data company with its own student programs, covered in our Epsilon internship guide. The two have no connection beyond the name.

Which schools does Epsilon Economics hire from?

The firm doesn't publish a list. A Vault insider says most analysts in Chicago come from Northwestern or the University of Chicago, and the two summer 2026 interns we could identify fit that pattern. Another insider says the firm is trying to recruit from more schools, and one former Summer Analyst studied at the University of Illinois.

How much do Epsilon Economics interns get paid?

It isn't published. No posting exists, so there's no pay range to read, and we don't repeat salary-site estimates. Vault insiders say full-time salaries are at market and identical for people at the same level, with bonuses above market. That describes employees, not Summer Analysts, so ask the firm directly.

Do Epsilon Economics Summer Analysts get full-time offers?

No rate is published. What's on the record is that three current employees' bios on the firm's site say they were Summer Analysts before joining full-time: a Senior Analyst, an Analyst and an Accounting and Finance Analyst. That shows the internship feeds full-time hiring, but it doesn't tell you the odds.

What is the Epsilon Economics interview like?

Vault insiders describe a phone screen, then in-person interviews at the Chicago office with four or five mid-level and senior people, plus a written prompt or presentation on an economic harm question. Those accounts come from full-time hires. Analyst questions are described as mostly behavioral and background-based, with some valuation reasoning.

Epsilon Economics won't post its Summer Analyst role, so the first move is yours. Go in with something concrete to describe: a remote Externship gives you a finished analytical project for that first email or campus conversation.
