A Daikin internship is a paid US placement at one of Daikin's two North American operating companies, not a single program. Daikin Comfort Technologies North America (Daikin, Goodman and related brands) runs an 11-week summer program centered on Waller, Texas, plus a Sales Intern track placed in cities across the country. Daikin Applied, the commercial HVAC business, runs summer internships from Plymouth, Minnesota, and recently listed an electrical intern in Staunton, Virginia. Its early-talent page describes them as paid, project-based roles with a peer mentor and a final project presentation. Daikin Comfort's careers page calls the group "the No. 1 air conditioning company in the world," a company claim, and says the business is backed by Daikin Industries, Ltd. of Japan. Daikin's own Japan and overseas internships are separate programs outside this guide.

When Do Daikin Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Daikin's two employers run close to one calendar. Daikin Comfort posted its Summer 2027 intern reqs in early September 2026, about eight months before the May start that Daikin Applied describes. Daikin Applied states its own cycle on its early-talent page: roles posted and applications open August to October, career fairs September to November, reviews, phone screens and manager interviews September to March on a rolling basis, offers November to April, summer start in May. We found no dated Summer 2026 postings for either employer, so our Summer 2028 projection (reqs posting ~August to October 2027) rests on Applied's stated calendar and one Comfort data point, which makes it medium confidence.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Daikin's urgency is rolling, not a hard deadline. None of the 11 requisitions we read prints a closing date, and Daikin Applied says review and interviews are conducted on a rolling basis from September to March, with offers rolling from November to April. Its three evergreen reqs add that applications may be considered as specific positions are approved, which means you don't know when a seat is approved or filled. The reqs have been up for five to seven weeks already. Applying in the first weeks keeps you in the pool for every round of review. Waiting until spring means competing for whatever roles are left, and Daikin Comfort's Sales Intern req already limits the pool to US citizens and permanent residents.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These come from the live requisitions, and they differ by employer.

• Class year: Daikin Comfort's Marketing, Data, Logistics, Programmer and Quality reqs and Daikin Applied's Engineering, Digital and Supply Chain reqs all name an expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2029, which fits rising sophomores through rising seniors. The Sales Intern req narrows it to December 2027 through May 2028.

• Degree level: Daikin Applied's Engineering req accepts bachelor's and master's students and encourages graduate students to apply. The Sales Intern req requires a bachelor's program at an accredited four-year school.

• Work authorization: Daikin Comfort's reqs say candidates "must not require sponsorship now or in the future," and the Sales Intern also requires US citizenship or permanent residence. Daikin Applied's reqs say work visa sponsorship isn't available.

• Age: Daikin Comfort's reqs require candidates to be at least 18.

• GPA: none of the 11 requisitions we read states a minimum.

Can International Students Apply to Daikin?

Realistically only with work authorization that doesn't need employer sponsorship. Both employers rule out sponsorship in their reqs, and Daikin Comfort's Sales Intern adds a citizenship or permanent-residence requirement. Neither employer states whether CPT or OPT counts, so an F-1 student should ask the recruiter before applying instead of assuming. The Marketing, Data, Logistics, Programmer and Quality reqs are the ones without a citizenship clause.

The overlap is closest on the data and operations side. There's no open Externship that trains CAD or thermodynamics, so engineering applicants should lean on coursework and lab or design-team projects for those parts of the reqs.

What Is the Daikin Application and Interview Process Like?

Daikin publishes more about the Daikin Applied process than the Daikin Comfort one. What the evidence shows:

5. Offer. Daikin Applied says offers are extended on a rolling basis from November to April.

Daikin Comfort doesn't publish its interview steps, and no source we found describes either company's interview questions.

What We Found on Reddit

We read the two Reddit threads that mention Daikin internships and found no first-hand account of a Daikin Comfort or Daikin Applied US intern. One is a local thread about full-time factory work, the other generic HVAC career advice, so we're not quoting either. We'll add intern reports when they appear.

How Do You Stand Out at Daikin?

First, apply to the right employer and the right req. Daikin Comfort and Daikin Applied have separate boards, and a Comfort application doesn't carry over to Applied. Second, show a finished project. Every req centers on one: Comfort promises an individual project and a group project, and Applied's reqs end with a final project presentation. A deliverable you've already presented, such as a data analysis, a design-team build or an Externship project, shows you can do the core task. Third, read the eligibility lines before you apply, because sponsorship and citizenship rules decide who is considered. Daikin doesn't publish class size, applicant counts or a conversion rate, so we won't estimate them.
