CAE's US student hiring is small and specific. Its Workday board listed three part-time co-op requisitions on October 25, 2026: two Electrical Engineering Co-ops in Arlington, Texas, posted September 30, and one University of Florida Engineering Co-op in Tampa, Florida, listed since September 2025. All three require a 3.0 GPA and US citizenship. CAE USA has no branded summer program and publishes no dated recruiting calendar or US pay figure. In plain words: there's no summer wave to wait for, so apply to a req while it's open.

The row that matters most: all three open CAE USA co-op reqs are for US citizens only, so check that before anything else, and know that CAE posts single reqs rather than a dated summer wave.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most often in 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. The Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship is the closest open fit to embedded and systems-integration work, and the SQL & Database Architecture Externship with Breaking Games covers the database skills the Tampa req lists as a plus. What Is a CAE Internship?

A CAE internship in the US is a part-time engineering co-op at CAE USA, the American business of CAE Inc., the Montreal-based company that builds flight simulators and training systems. CAE isn't Caesars Entertainment; the two are unrelated. CAE USA lists co-ops on its Students & Co-ops page and describes them as a route that can lead to a full-time career. The live roles are in Arlington, Texas, where co-ops work on the electrical side of flight simulator design and development, and in Tampa, Florida, where a co-op supports software, computer tools, computer systems and integration groups. CAE's Canadian internships in Montreal and its Netherlands roles are separate and outside this guide.

When Do CAE Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

CAE doesn't run a dated US internship cycle, so there's no window to project. It posts co-ops as individual requisitions: the two Arlington reqs went up on September 30, 2026, while the Tampa req has been listed since September 17, 2025 and still accepts applications. None of the reqs states a term, a season or a start date, so we can't measure a lead time, and we found no earlier US posting dates. The honest advice is to apply to what's open, then check the board again every few weeks and join CAE's talent community.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERE

Three US co-op reqs are open on CAE's Workday board: Electrical Engineering Co-op (Arlington, TX, two reqs) and University of Florida Engineering Co-op (Tampa, FL). All were accepting applications on October 25, 2026.

Apply while they're open. To strengthen the application, a finished Externship project gives you something concrete to discuss: the Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship or the SQL & Database Architecture Externship with Breaking Games.
Before you apply

Check three gates: US citizenship (all three reqs), a 3.0 GPA, and an engineering major, with Tampa also asking for junior year or higher.

After you apply

CAE doesn't publish interview stages or response times for its co-ops. Keep your Workday profile current and check your email.

If the reqs close

New co-op reqs appear as CAE needs them, with no published schedule. Search the board for co-op every few weeks and join the talent community on CAE USA's careers page.

During the co-op

Part time, on site. Arlington co-ops work on flight simulator electrical design, schematics and integration; the Tampa co-op supports software and systems groups. The Arlington req notes overtime and 24x7 on-call for resolving problems.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

CAE hasn't published a deadline, and its Tampa req has stayed open for about 13 months, so we can't say these roles close quickly. The case for applying now is different: each req is a single co-op slot tied to a specific engineering discipline, and CAE publishes no calendar telling you when the next one will appear. Applying while a req is live, rather than waiting for a season that doesn't exist, is the only reliable path. If you aren't a US citizen, these three reqs aren't open to you.

Which CAE Internship Programs Should You Target?

CAE USA's student hiring today is three reqs in two disciplines.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These come straight from the three live reqs.

• Citizenship: all three say that, due to US government contract requirements, only US citizens are eligible. International students aren't eligible for these roles.

• Enrollment: enrolled in an accredited bachelor's (or higher) program. Arlington asks for engineering, preferably electrical or computer science/systems engineering; Tampa asks for an engineering discipline, preferably software engineering or computer science, in your junior year or higher.

• GPA: a minimum of 3.0 in all three reqs.

• Skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office. Tampa also asks for C++ or C# familiarity; Arlington prefers AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

• Work pattern: part time. The Arlington req adds that the role includes overtime and 24x7 on-call for resolving problems.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff?

The reqs list it as a must-have, so plan on it as a gate rather than a preference. CAE doesn't say whether exceptions exist. If you're just under, lead with project work in the listed tools and ask the recruiter directly before you decide not to apply.

What Skills Does CAE Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Two themes run through the three reqs. Working style: every req asks for a detail-oriented, customer-service-oriented candidate with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal supervision and has good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Technical tools: Microsoft Office is required in all three, AutoCAD and SolidWorks are named in the Arlington reqs, and the Tampa req adds C++ or C#, with SQL/Access, PowerApps and Python as pluses. The Arlington co-op also does electrical load analysis and three-phase power calculations.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill in the chart maps to a remote Externship you can finish while a req is still open.

No open Externship covers electrical or avionics engineering directly, so for the Arlington reqs lean on coursework, lab work and CAD projects. The Externships above help most with the software, database and process-discipline side.

What Is the CAE Application and Interview Process Like?

CAE doesn't publish its co-op interview process. This is what its pages show:

1. Check eligibility first. US citizenship, a 3.0 GPA and an engineering major are required in all three reqs.

2. Search the Workday board. Look for co-op and filter to the United States; CAE's global board includes Canadian and Dutch student roles that don't apply here.

3. Apply with your resume. Apply through Workday for each req you fit. The two Arlington reqs are the same role.

4. Join the talent community. CAE USA's careers page invites students to join its talent community for new openings, news and events.

5. After you apply. Interview stages and timing aren't published, so keep your profile current.

CAE doesn't publish interview questions. Expect questions tied to the req: your coursework in electrical or software engineering, tools you've used such as AutoCAD or C++, and how you troubleshoot.

What the Community Says

Reddit threads we found about CAE internships are about its Canadian co-ops in Montreal, and none is a first-hand account of CAE USA, so there are no quotes here. CAE USA's own student page profiles three former interns.

How Do You Stand Out for a CAE Co-op?

First, make sure you fit the gates, because the reqs are strict: US citizenship, a 3.0 GPA and the right discipline. Second, match the tools. The Arlington reqs prefer AutoCAD and SolidWorks and hands-on experience with boards such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino or BeagleBone, so a personal or class project using them is direct evidence. The Tampa req wants C++ or C# and lists Python and SQL as pluses, and it also values personal projects such as building computers or setting up a network. Third, show you can work with little supervision and troubleshoot, which all three reqs ask for. CAE doesn't publish applicant counts, class size or a conversion rate, so we won't estimate them.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 CAE internship?

No. Summer 2026 is over, and CAE USA doesn't run a dated summer program anyway. What's open now are three part-time co-op reqs, two in Arlington, Texas and one in Tampa, Florida, with no season named. All three are limited to US citizens, so check that first.

Does CAE offer internships in the US?

Yes, as co-ops. CAE USA lists a Students & Co-ops route, and its Workday board had three US co-op reqs on October 25, 2026: two Electrical Engineering Co-ops in Arlington, Texas and one University of Florida Engineering Co-op in Tampa, Florida. All are part time.

When do CAE co-op applications open?

There's no published calendar. CAE posts co-ops as individual requisitions: the two Arlington reqs went up on September 30, 2026, and the Tampa req has been listed since September 2025. Check the Workday board every few weeks, and join CAE's talent community for new openings.

Can international students apply for CAE co-ops?

Not for the three open reqs. Each states that, due to US government contract requirements, only US citizens are eligible. CAE's Canadian and Dutch student roles follow different rules and are outside this guide. Check each req's eligibility text before you spend time on an application.

What GPA do I need for a CAE co-op?

A minimum of 3.0 in all three reqs. They also require enrollment in an accredited bachelor's or higher program in an engineering discipline, and the Tampa req asks for junior year or higher. CAE doesn't say whether exceptions are made.

How much do CAE co-ops get paid?

CAE doesn't publish a US hourly rate. Its group-wide student page says internships are paid and that remuneration is based on level and field of study, as well as years or credits completed. We don't quote third-party figures, which mostly describe Canadian roles.

Is CAE the same as Caesars Entertainment?

No. CAE is the Montreal-based flight simulation and training company, and CAE USA is its American business. Caesars Entertainment is a casino and hospitality company with unrelated internships. This guide covers CAE USA co-ops only, so check the employer name before you apply.

Do CAE co-ops get full-time offers?

CAE doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its group student page says many students have gone on to permanent employment, and CAE USA's student page profiles two former interns who became full-time engineers in Tampa and Arlington. Those are examples, not a rate.

If you're a US citizen with a 3.0 GPA and an engineering major, apply to the open CAE USA co-op that fits now and check the board again in a few weeks. In between, a remote Externship gives you a finished systems or database project to talk about.
