Last updated: October 2026
Brunswick's summer 2027 internships opened on 18 August 2026, and they're already filling. On 3 October its single Workday board showed 58 live US internship and co-op requisitions, down from 64 five days earlier, and at least three roles posted this fall have already closed. None of them ever listed a deadline.
In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, and you intern in summer 2027. If you're a co-op student, the nearer door is a co-op term that starts in January 2027. Brunswick is the company behind Mercury outboard engines, Boston Whaler and Sea Ray boats, and Lowrance and Simrad electronics, with 2025 net sales of $5.36 billion and about 14,000 employees. Every one of its US student reqs publishes an hourly range, from $17 to $27.50.

What Is a Brunswick Internship?
A Brunswick internship is a paid, full-time summer or co-op placement in one of Brunswick Corporation's marine businesses, working on real projects in engineering, operations or business teams. Most seats sit at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the outboard engine maker that carries 43 of the 58 live US reqs. The rest are at Navico Group (Lowrance and Simrad electronics), the Boat Group's Boston Whaler, Lund and Crestliner plants, and a corporate design lab in Champaign, Illinois. Brunswick's reqs describe a Student Program with "feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment" and a full 40-hour week. Mercury also runs a formal Co-op Education Program with two terms a year, which it says exists to build a pool of talent for entry-level jobs.

When Do Brunswick Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Brunswick posts its summer wave in one late-summer burst. The first summer 2027 req went up on 18 August 2026, about 8.5 months before a May start, and most followed between 24 August and 8 September. It kept adding roles through 1 October. Co-ops run on a shorter clock: the January to August 2027 term was posted in late August, about 4 months ahead. Last cycle the summer 2026 reqs were live by fall 2025, with a few late additions in December, so expect a trickle of new roles into winter but most seats to fill this fall. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open around August 2027.
Applications are open right now: 58 live US internship and co-op reqs on 3 October, 43 of them at Mercury Marine. The Navico electrical engineering intern and the UIUC reinforcement learning intern closed in the past week.
The strongest weeks to apply. Reqs come down as soon as they're filled, and the January 2027 co-op term needs offers and school co-op enrollment in place before the term starts.
Expected late additions, based on last cycle, when new summer roles still appeared in December. Most seats should be filled by then.
The January to August 2027 co-op term starts at Mercury Marine and Navico. A second co-op term runs May or June to December 2027.
Summer internships run May to August 2027, full time. Mercury says it intends to seriously consider co-op completers for full-time jobs. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around August 2027.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Brunswick's window is rolling, and it closes req by req. Between 28 September and 3 October the board went from 64 to 58 live US student reqs, and Workday's own system confirms that closed reqs such as the Navico electrical engineering intern, the UIUC reinforcement learning intern and a Mercury materials engineering intern existed and are now shut. None of them posted a closing date. Each req is a single function at a single site, so the first qualified applicants a hiring manager likes can end that search. Co-op students have even less slack, because the January term can't start until your school's co-op enrollment is also done.
Which Brunswick Internship Programs Should You Target?
Brunswick hires by business unit. Every one of these groups lives on the same Workday board, and each req is its own application.

Search every live role on Brunswick's Workday site, and read Mercury's Co-op Education Program page if you're on a co-op track.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Brunswick's requirements are unusually consistent across its 58 live US reqs:
• Enrollment: currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in the field the req names.
• Credits: 43 reqs, nearly all at Mercury, ask for "minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits". Mercury's co-op page says 45; the reqs govern.
• Work authorization: 57 of 58 say you must already be authorized to work in the US and the role "is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future".
• GPA: only five Mercury business reqs (accounting, marketing coordinator, two product management roles, operations management) state a 3.0 minimum.
• Co-op enrollment: co-op reqs require you to enroll in your university's formal co-op program, and the Lowrance technical support intern is limited to four Oklahoma universities.

Can Sophomores Apply to Brunswick?
Yes, from the second semester. Mercury's reqs set the floor at second-semester sophomore standing with 48 completed credits, which puts a fall sophomore just short and a spring sophomore in range. That makes Brunswick one of the more open options for a first engineering internship. If you're a first-year student, Mercury's co-op terms and the next summer cycle are the realistic targets.
What Skills Does Brunswick Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Brunswick's reqs lean on three groups of skills. Engineering and test: CAD in Creo or SolidWorks, test plans, validation runs and failure investigations, plus test stands and custom fixtures in Navico's Lowell test lab. Plant and supply chain: Lean, Six Sigma, time studies and supplier work at Mercury's plants and the Boston Whaler and Lund factories. Data: Excel on more than half the reqs, and Power BI, Tableau, Python or SQL on the analytics, market intelligence and data science roles.

How Is Demand for Engineering Interns Moving Right Now?
Mechanical engineering intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026
vs 207 in August
Brunswick opened earlier than most engineering employers this cycle, so its first seats are being filled while much of the market is still posting.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (87 postings in September, 36 in August).
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Several of Brunswick's business and analytics reqs describe work you can practice in a remote Externship before your interviews.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Supply chain & operations analytics | Mercury supply chain, logistics and Power BI ops analytics co-ops | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Data pipelines & SQL | Mercury Data Analytics and BI DesignLab Data Science interns: collecting, processing and analyzing product and telemetry data | Breaking Games SQL Database Architecture |
| Accounting & financial analysis | Mercury Accounting intern: fixed assets, intercompany reconciliation and month-end close in Excel | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis |
| Product management | Mercury Product Management interns (Parts & Accessories; Oils & Lubricants) | BeReal Product Management |
| Market intelligence | Mercury Sales Operations & Market Intelligence intern: "competitive and industry research to identify emerging trends" | Consumer Behavior Insights with Generous Brands |
For the engineering reqs, the best proof is hands-on: a Formula SAE or Baja part you designed in CAD and then tested, or a lab project where you wrote the test plan yourself.
What Is the Brunswick Application and Interview Process Like?
Brunswick doesn't publish its interview steps. This is what its reqs and Mercury's co-op page do say:
1. Search the one board. Filter Brunswick's Workday site by brand or location; Mercury, Navico, the Boat Group and corporate all post there.
2. Apply req by req. Each role is a separate application, so apply to every req your major fits rather than one.
3. Co-op paperwork. Co-op applicants must be able to enroll in their school's formal co-op program; check that process before you apply.
4. Campus recruiting. Mercury says it works through university career services and career fairs, and it appears on UW–Madison's engineering fair employer list.
5. Interviews and offer. The format isn't published. The reqs say all offers come through the Workday candidate portal you create when you apply.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit searches for "Brunswick internship" mostly return New Brunswick, New Jersey, so the useful threads are about Mercury Marine. None covers interviews or pay.
A student starting a Mercury Marine co-op asked for a Fond du Lac roommate. Replies said housing options in town are limited, suggested subletting from UW Oshkosh students, and said Mercury's HR team should connect you with other interns.
A UW–Madison student listing the large employers at the engineering career fairs named Mercury Marine alongside Oshkosh, Milwaukee Tool and Polaris, which matches Mercury's own note that it recruits through campus fairs.
When a new mechanical engineering grad asked where to look, one commenter said Mercury Marine is always hiring new grads, with the caveat that the job would likely be in Wisconsin.
How Do You Stand Out for a Brunswick Internship?
Three moves. First, know which Brunswick you want. Mercury builds engines and propulsion, Navico builds marine electronics, and the Boat Group builds fiberglass and aluminum hulls. A cover letter that names the business and the product line reads very differently from one addressed to "Brunswick".
Second, apply wide inside one board. Mercury alone has 43 live reqs, and many overlap: an ME student fits NVH, calibration, fluid and thermal, drives and propulsion, and the general mechanical engineering intern. Each is a separate search with its own hiring manager.
Third, show you care about the water. Several reqs say boating, fishing or marine industry experience is a plus, and the Lowrance technical support role is built for collegiate anglers. If you fish, boat or race, put it on your resume. It's a real advantage here.

What Other Companies Should You Consider?
Students looking at Brunswick often apply to these manufacturers too:

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Brunswick internship?
No. Summer 2026 has ended, and Workday shows last cycle's reqs as closed. The open roles are for the next cycle: summer 2027 internships and 2027 co-op terms, 58 live US reqs on 3 October 2026. They have no deadlines but are filling one by one, so apply this fall.
When do Brunswick internship applications open for summer 2027?
They opened on 18 August 2026, and most roles were posted by early September, about 8.5 months before a May start. Brunswick was still adding reqs on 1 October. Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open around August 2027 if Brunswick keeps the same calendar.
How much do Brunswick interns make?
Every US req publishes an hourly range. Most Mercury Marine roles show $18 to $27.50, a few business roles start at $17, and Navico and the Boat Group show $18 to $27. Boston Whaler's manufacturing engineering interns show $18 to $26. Your rate depends on credits, year in school and experience.
What's the difference between a Mercury Marine internship and a co-op?
Interns work full time from May to August 2027. Co-ops work a full term, January to August 2027 or May or June to December 2027, and must enroll in their university's formal co-op program. Co-ops are mostly engineering, quality and supply chain roles in Fond du Lac.
Does Brunswick sponsor visas for interns?
No. 57 of the 58 live US reqs say applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States and that the role isn't eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. International students on F-1 status should confirm their own work authorization before applying.
Can sophomores get a Brunswick internship?
Yes, from the second semester. 43 reqs, mostly at Mercury, ask for second-semester sophomore standing with 48 completed credits. Only five Mercury business roles add a 3.0 GPA minimum. That makes Brunswick a realistic first engineering internship for students who finish sophomore year this spring.
Where are Brunswick internships located?
Mostly in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, at Mercury Marine. Others are in Oshkosh and Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; Brownsburg, Indiana; Lowell, Michigan; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Edgewater, Florida (Boston Whaler); New York Mills, Minnesota (Lund and Crestliner); and Champaign, Illinois. Relocation is offered on 51 of 58 reqs.
Does Brunswick hire interns full time?
Brunswick doesn't publish a conversion rate. Mercury Marine says it intends to seriously consider students who complete its co-op program for full-time jobs, based on its needs and their performance. Brunswick also runs a two-year Operations Management Development Program for new graduates that pays $75,000 a year.
Brunswick's summer 2027 and 2027 co-op reqs are live now and closing as they fill. Apply to every req your major fits this month, and if you'd like a finished project to point to, a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week.
