Last updated: October 2026

AmTrust Financial hires its summer interns late, so its board is empty in the fall. On October 5, 2026 its iCIMS job board listed 150 open jobs and no internships. In the last two cycles the summer wave went up in early March: AmTrust announced its summer 2025 program on March 13, 2025, and posted summer 2026 roles in early March 2026, about three months before a June start. In plain words: you apply in early 2027, you intern in summer 2027, and at AmTrust the door is expected to open around late February to mid-March 2027.

When it opens, expect underwriting, actuarial, internal audit and finance roles in offices such as Nashua, Cleveland, Jersey City and New York. AmTrust's summer 2025 postings paid $20 to $25 an hour.

What Is an AmTrust Financial Internship?

An AmTrust Financial internship is a paid summer program of about three months at AmTrust Financial Services, a specialty property and casualty insurer focused on small businesses. Interns work in underwriting, actuarial, audit, finance or communications teams, with a supervisor and a mentor. AmTrust started as a small warranty company in 1998, says it has more than 7,000 employees, and became the third-largest writer of US workers' compensation in 2022, according to its About Us page. It has been privately held since 2018. AmTrust Financial isn't AmTrust Bank, an unrelated Cleveland bank.

When Do AmTrust Financial Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

AmTrust runs one summer intake on a short lead time. Its summer 2025 program opened to applications on March 13, 2025, and summer 2026 roles were posting in early March 2026, about three months before a June start. Postings were staggered: in 2025 some roles were still being listed in May. Applications for summer 2027 are therefore expected around late February to mid-March 2027 (medium confidence, two matching cycles). Until then the board shows no internships, so a reader told to apply in the fall would find nothing for months.

Applications for summer 2027 are expected to open, based on early-March openings in 2025 and 2026. Search "Summer Internship" and "Seasonal Associate" on the iCIMS board and apply in the first week.

More roles may post office by office; in 2025 listings were still appearing into May. Expect a recruiter phone screen and a hiring-manager interview.

Summer 2027

The internship runs about three months from June 2027. Actuarial interns finish a summer-long study and present it; summer 2028 applications are expected around March 2028.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

AmTrust doesn't publish deadlines, and its 2025 roles appeared one office at a time, so this is a rolling window rather than a single cutoff. The short lead time is what makes week one matter: with only about three months between posting and a June start, hiring teams interview as applications arrive, and a role can fill before a later applicant is seen. The "apply by" dates you may see on job sites are those sites' listing expiries, not AmTrust's deadlines, so don't plan around them.

Which AmTrust Financial Internship Programs Should You Target?

AmTrust hasn't posted summer 2027 roles yet. These are the tracks from its summer 2025 and 2026 postings; the 2026 titles come from AmTrust's own hiring post and job-site listings.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

AmTrust's summer 2025 postings set these requirements (read from job-site copies of AmTrust's requisitions, since the originals are closed):

• Degree: a bachelor's degree in progress; internal audit wanted accounting, finance, business administration or internal audit majors.

• Actuarial track: a math, actuarial science or finance-related major, at least one actuarial exam passed, and "strong GPA, preferably 3.5 or higher."

• Tools: Microsoft Excel on all four postings we read, PowerPoint on three; SQL, R or Python preferred for actuarial.

• Work authorization: AmTrust's posting text doesn't state a sponsorship policy, so ask the recruiter before you apply.

• Work model: hybrid in Nashua, Cleveland and Jersey City in 2025. Employees report a four-day office policy since April 2026, which may apply to 2027 interns.

Is the 3.5 GPA a Hard Cutoff at AmTrust?

No, and it only appeared on the actuarial posting. It reads "preferably 3.5 or higher," next to a firmer ask: at least one actuarial exam passed. The underwriting and audit postings named no GPA at all. For actuarial, a passed exam probably counts for more than a few tenths of GPA.

What Skills Does AmTrust Financial Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

AmTrust's intern postings are short and practical. Every one asks for Excel and clear written communication. Underwriting adds rating submissions, endorsements and working with agents and brokers; actuarial adds quantitative skill, a passed exam and preferably SQL, R or Python; internal audit adds risk and control testing, workpapers and deadlines. Three of four also ask for a professional demeanor with clients and teammates.

What Is the AmTrust Financial Application and Interview Process Like?

AmTrust doesn't publish an intern interview process. This is what its postings and candidate reports point to:

1. Find the posting. From mid-February 2027, search the iCIMS board for "Summer Internship" and "Seasonal Associate", and check each office's roles separately.

2. Apply online. Each role is its own requisition, so apply to every track and office you'd accept.

3. Recruiter screen. An Indeed Q&A answer from 2019 describes a roughly 30-minute phone interview with a recruiter for general hiring.

4. Hiring-manager interview. The same answer describes a follow-up interview with the hiring manager; full-time candidates on Reddit report up to three rounds.

5. Offer. One full-time hire on Reddit reported about four weeks from final interview to offer, so follow up if you hear nothing.

What the Community Says

No Reddit thread discusses AmTrust internships specifically. These come from full-time candidates and employees, and the tone is mostly critical, so weigh them as context rather than a verdict on the intern program.

Candidates for underwriting and claims roles described several interview rounds; one said they were ghosted after third-round interviews twice. Another, who was hired, said the offer came about four weeks after the final interview and praised the training resources and team.

In a thread on P&C cultures, one actuary ranked AmTrust the worst of three employers they'd worked for. Another said they turned down an AmTrust offer over the culture and benefits, citing six weeks of maternity leave and a 401(k) match under $2,000 a year.

AmTrust's yearly Indeed average has stayed between about 2.5 and 2.8 since 2022 across 539 reviews. Recent reviews mention a move to four office days a week in April 2026 and restructuring, alongside praise for benefits and teammates.

How Do You Stand Out for an AmTrust Financial Internship?

Three moves. First, be early in a late window. Start checking the board in mid-February 2027 and apply in the first week a role posts, to every office you'd accept. Second, match the track's concrete ask. For actuarial, pass an exam before you apply and bring SQL, R or Python; for underwriting, show you can read a small business's loss history and explain a pricing call; for audit, show careful workpaper-style documentation. Third, know AmTrust's niche. It's a small-business and workers' compensation insurer, so a sentence on why that market interests you sets you apart from generic insurance applicants. AmTrust publishes no applicant count or conversion rate; the actuarial posting mentions a potential full-time offer at graduation.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 AmTrust Financial internship?

No. Summer 2026 has already run, and summer 2027 isn't open yet either: on October 5, 2026 AmTrust's job board listed 150 jobs and no internships. Applications for summer 2027 are expected around late February to mid-March 2027, matching early-March openings in 2025 and 2026.

When do AmTrust summer 2027 internship applications open?

They're expected to open around late February to mid-March 2027. AmTrust announced its summer 2025 program on March 13, 2025 and posted summer 2026 roles in early March 2026. Roles can post office by office into May, so check the iCIMS board weekly from mid-February 2027.

How much do AmTrust interns make?

AmTrust's summer 2025 postings paid $25 an hour for underwriting in Nashua, actuarial in New York and internal audit in Jersey City, and $20 an hour for underwriting in Cleveland. Summer 2027 pay hasn't been published, so treat these as last cycle's rates rather than a promise.

What internships does AmTrust offer?

Recent cycles included underwriting, E&S underwriting, actuarial, internal audit, IT audit, tax, FP&A, communications and marketing internships. Each is posted as its own requisition and office, so the lineup for summer 2027 may differ. Search for "Summer Internship" and "Seasonal Associate" when the board opens.

What does the AmTrust actuarial internship require?

The 2025 posting asked for a math, actuarial science or finance-related major, at least one actuarial exam passed, and a strong GPA, preferably 3.5 or higher. It preferred SQL, R or Python. Interns refreshed analyses, supported state rate filings and presented a summer-long actuarial study to leadership.

Where are AmTrust internships located?

Past postings were in New York (headquarters), Jersey City, Nashua in New Hampshire and Cleveland, and most were hybrid in 2025. Employees report a move to four office days a week in April 2026, so ask whether that applies to interns before you accept an offer.

Is AmTrust Financial the same as AmTrust Bank?

No. AmTrust Financial Services is a specialty property and casualty insurer focused on small businesses, headquartered in New York. AmTrust Bank was a separate Cleveland bank with no connection to it. AmTrust Financial's internships are posted on its own iCIMS board.

Does AmTrust give return offers to interns?

AmTrust doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its 2025 actuarial posting mentioned "potential for a full-time offer upon graduation," and the underwriting postings described growing into full-time underwriting roles. Treat a return offer as possible, not standard, and ask your manager about it midway through the summer.

AmTrust's summer 2027 roles are expected around late February to mid-March 2027. Use the months before then to build proof: a remote Externship gives you a finished project to discuss in an AmTrust interview.
