Last updated: October 2026
Amrize's summer 2027 internships are filling fast. The first reqs went up on 7 September 2026, and by 3 October at least six of them already read "Sorry, this position has been filled". Twenty-six US roles were still live that day, every one a 10-week, paid internship beginning June 1, 2027, at a specific cement plant, quarry or office in 13 states. None lists a deadline.
In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, and you intern in summer 2027, but at Amrize "fall 2026" means this month, not next spring. Amrize is the North American building-materials business that Holcim spun off on 23 June 2025, with about 19,000 teammates and more than 1,000 sites at the time of the spin-off. Its internships cover cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete and corporate roles.

Amrize hires interns into quarry operations, environmental engineering, supply chain and finance roles, and a finished project gives you something concrete to show. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship fits Amrize's operations and supply chain internships, and the ARCEH Children's Environmental Health Analytics Externship fits its environmental roles. What Is an Amrize Internship?
An Amrize internship is a 10-week, paid summer placement at one of Amrize's North American sites, working hands-on in cement manufacturing, aggregates, ready-mix concrete or a corporate function. Each req is tied to one location: a mining engineering intern works at an aggregates operation like Lockport, New York, an environmental engineer intern at the Midlothian, Texas cement plant, and a finance or internal audit intern at the Chicago office. The Internships & Early Careers page describes the Summer Internship Program, and every req lists mentorship, professional development training and a possible full-time path after graduation. Most reqs end the summer with a presentation to Amrize's executive leadership team. Amrize became independent when Holcim spun off its North American business in June 2025, so older internship awards and reviews belong to the Holcim US program.

When Do Amrize Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Amrize posted its summer 2027 internships in one September burst. The first reqs went up on 7 September 2026, most followed between 15 and 25 September, and a handful more appeared between 28 September and 1 October. That's about 8 to 9 months before the June 1, 2027 start. Last cycle looks different: one summer 2026 req appears to have posted around December 2025, about three months later than this year, judging from an aggregator date. That's a big year-over-year shift resting on one data point, so treat any projection for summer 2028 as low confidence. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around September 2027 if this year's timing repeats.
Applications are open right now: 26 US summer 2027 internships on 3 October. At least six summer 2027 reqs already read "position has been filled", including a Franklin, Tennessee civil engineering role that was still open on 28 September.
Expected to be the end of the window for most roles. Reqs come down as they're filled, and some lasted only one to three weeks.
Occasional reposts are possible: a Morrison, Colorado mining role was filled and then reposted under a new req on 28 September. Don't count on a second wave.
The 10-week internship starts at your assigned site, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Expect field time and possible travel to other sites for tours, shadowing and intern events.
Most reqs end with a presentation to the executive leadership team. Strong interns may be considered for full-time roles or the BUILD4GROWTH program for new engineers.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Amrize is the clearest short-window case in this series. No req lists a deadline, but six summer 2027 reqs have already switched to "Sorry, this position has been filled", some within one to three weeks of posting: a Chicago finance intern, mechanical and electrical engineering interns in Hagerstown and Paulding, a mining intern in Morrison, a chemical engineering intern in Theodore, Alabama, and a civil engineering intern in Franklin, Tennessee. Each req is a single seat at a single plant or quarry, so one strong applicant can end that search. If a req near you is live today, the safest assumption is that it may not be live in two weeks.
Which Amrize Internship Programs Should You Target?
Amrize's 26 live US internships fall into five groups. Every one is a 10-week, paid role beginning June 1, 2027.
| Track | Focus | Sites (live 3 Oct 2026) | Typical majors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mining & quarry operations | Drilling, blasting, loading and hauling; crushing and screening efficiency; mine safety | Lockport NY; Millville WV; Morrison and Canon City CO; Ada OK; Dundee MI; Middleton MA | Mining, geological, civil, mechanical, industrial engineering; geology |
| Cement plant engineering | Mechanical, electrical, process and environmental engineering; health and safety | Alpena MI; Midlothian TX; Florence CO; Bloomsdale MO | Mechanical, electrical, chemical, environmental engineering; occupational health and safety |
| Project engineering & construction | Aggregates and ready-mix project engineering; construction management | Plano TX; Golden and Colorado Springs CO; Chelmsford MA | Construction management, civil, mechanical engineering |
| Quality & materials | Quality control and material performance testing | Sloan NV | Civil engineering, materials science |
| Corporate & commercial | Finance and investor relations, internal audit, supply chain, communications, HR, operations management, technical sales and strategy | Chicago IL; Greenbelt MD; Moorhead MN; Franklin TN | Finance, accounting, supply chain, communications, HR, business |
Search "Summer 2027" on careers.amrize.com to see the current list; it changes week to week as roles fill and new ones post.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Amrize's reqs share one template, so the requirements are consistent:
• Enrollment: "Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program" in the majors the req lists.
• Academics: "Strong academic performance" with a solid understanding of engineering principles; no GPA number is stated.
• Flexibility: "Geographic flexibility to work at various sites" and a willingness to spend significant time in the field.
• Logistics: an onsite, 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, and interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from the worksite.
• Work authorization: none of the 26 live reqs mentions visa sponsorship either way.

Do You Need a Car for an Amrize Internship?
In practice, usually yes. The reqs say interns are responsible for their own transportation, and most sites are cement plants, quarries and ready-mix operations outside city centers, with travel to other sites for tours and shadowing. Apply to sites you can reach every day. The Chicago, Greenbelt and Moorhead office roles are the easiest to commute to without a car.
What Skills Does Amrize Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Amrize's reqs ask for three things. Field readiness: safety protocols at active plants and quarries, comfort around heavy equipment, and willingness to spend real time in the field. Data and process work: collecting and analyzing production, emissions or logistics data to find ways to run sites more efficiently. Communication: strong oral and written communication, working across geology, engineering and safety teams, and, on most reqs, a final presentation to the executive leadership team.

How Is Demand for Engineering Interns Moving Right Now?
Mechanical engineering intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026
vs 207 in August
Amrize posted in the same September rush as the rest of the engineering market and is filling faster than most, so apply in October rather than waiting for spring.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (87 postings in September, 36 in August).
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Several Amrize reqs describe analysis work you can practice in a remote Externship this month.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Operations & logistics analysis | Technical Sales and Strategy intern: "Analyze logistics networks, dispatch scheduling, and material movement" | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Environmental data analysis | Environmental Engineer intern: "Collect and analyze environmental data, including air and water quality" | ARCEH Children's Environmental Health Analytics |
| Financial analysis & controls | Internal Audit intern: SOX walkthroughs, control testing and "data analysis tools to test transaction populations" | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis |
| Market & strategy analysis | Technical Sales and Strategy intern: "Evaluate regional market trends, construction project pipelines, and competitor positioning" | Corporate Strategy Externship Mentored by Eric Ries |
For the plant and quarry roles, field proof matters most: a mine safety course, a geology field camp, or a summer job around heavy equipment tells Amrize you're comfortable on site.
What Is the Amrize Application and Interview Process Like?
Amrize doesn't publish its interview steps. Its careers pages and reqs show this much:
1. Search "Summer 2027". The plain "intern" search on careers.amrize.com is swamped by "Internal" roles.
2. Pick reachable sites. Each req is one plant, quarry or office, and you supply your own transportation.
3. Apply only on the official site. Amrize says its careers website is the only way to apply, and it warns about recruiting fraud.
4. Interviews. The format isn't published; prepare examples of field work, safety awareness and data analysis, which appear in most reqs.
5. Offer and onboarding. No decision date is published. Roles close the moment they're filled, so a quick reply to any recruiter contact matters.
What the Community Says
Reddit has no first-hand threads about Amrize internships yet; searches return Holcim threads from other countries. These two first-hand reviews are the most useful, each a single person's view.
One reviewer wrote that they joined Amrize as an intern and were able to stay on in a full-time position after graduating, which matches the full-time path the reqs describe.
The only Amrize internship review on Glassdoor gave the program top marks for its benefits and the connections it built, but said the pay could be better.
How Do You Stand Out for an Amrize Internship?
Three moves. First, apply now and apply wide. Six reqs have already filled, and Amrize posts several similar roles at different sites, such as five mining engineering internships in four states. If you're a mining or civil engineer, apply to every site you can actually reach.
Second, show you're comfortable in the field. The reqs describe active quarries, cement kilns and heavy mining equipment, and they ask for a willingness to spend significant time in the field. A safety certification, a field camp, or a summer job outdoors is worth a line near the top of your resume.
Third, prepare for the final presentation from day one. 24 of the 26 reqs end with a presentation to the executive leadership team, and the reqs mention a potential full-time path after graduation. Treat the interview as practice for that talk: clear numbers and a clear recommendation.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Amrize internship?
No. Summer 2026 is over and those reqs have closed. Amrize's summer 2027 internships are open now: 26 US roles on 3 October 2026, each a 10-week paid internship beginning June 1, 2027. They're filling quickly, with at least six already marked filled, so apply this month rather than waiting.
When do Amrize internship applications open for summer 2027?
They opened on 7 September 2026, and most reqs posted by 25 September, with a few more added up to 1 October. Last cycle may have posted later, around December 2025, so the calendar isn't stable yet. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around September 2027, with low confidence.
How long is the Amrize internship?
Ten weeks, paid and full time, beginning June 1, 2027. The reqs describe an onsite 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, with possible travel to other Amrize sites for tours, shadowing and intern events. Most reqs end the summer with a presentation to the executive leadership team.
How much do Amrize interns get paid?
Amrize says the internships are paid but doesn't publish a rate on any of the 26 live reqs, even in states with pay-transparency laws. Interns are also responsible for their own transportation to the site. Ask about pay and any travel support once a recruiter contacts you, before you accept.
Is Amrize the same as Holcim?
Amrize is Holcim's former North American business. Holcim completed the spin-off on 23 June 2025, and Amrize now trades on its own. The internship program carried over, so reviews and awards from before mid-2025 describe the Holcim US program rather than Amrize as an independent company.
Where are Amrize internships located?
At 20 locations in 13 states on 3 October 2026: cement plants such as Alpena, Michigan and Midlothian, Texas; aggregates operations in New York, West Virginia, Colorado, Oklahoma, Michigan and Massachusetts; and offices in Chicago, Greenbelt, Moorhead and Franklin, Tennessee. Every role is on site.
What majors does Amrize want for interns?
Mostly engineering: mining, civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical and environmental. Construction management, occupational health and safety, and materials science fit several site roles, and the corporate internships take finance, accounting, supply chain, communications, HR and business majors. Each req lists its own majors.
Does Amrize hire interns full time?
Amrize doesn't publish a conversion rate. Its reqs list a potential opportunity for full-time employment after graduation, and new engineers can join BUILD4GROWTH, a development program of more than 14 months in cement manufacturing. One Indeed reviewer says they went from intern to full-time employee.
Amrize's summer 2027 internships are live now and closing as they fill. Apply this week to the sites you can reach, and if you'd like a finished project to talk through in interviews, a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week.
