ALDI pays its District Manager and Warehouse Operations interns $28.00 an hour, plus overtime eligibility, for a 40-hour, 10-week summer program, and it prints that rate in every posting. On 3 October 2026 ALDI's own job board listed 38 separate intern requisitions: 23 District Manager Intern roles, one for each regional division, and 15 Warehouse Operations Intern roles, one for each regional warehouse. They went up between 29 July and 29 September 2026, and none of them lists a deadline.

In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027. ALDI's reqs don't print the year, but a fall 2026 posting for a 10-week summer program can only mean summer 2027. ALDI US is based in Batavia, Illinois, runs more than 2,400 stores in 38 states and is opening 180+ more in 2026, its 50th year in the US (ALDI newsroom).

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most running 8 weeks at 5 to 10 hours a week. What Is an ALDI Internship?

An ALDI internship is a paid, 10-week summer program where you learn to run part of ALDI's operation and present a project to its executives at the end. District Manager interns shadow district managers "running multi-million dollar businesses", help with payroll, the sales book, invoices, hiring and inventory, and take part in a store reset or a grand opening if one falls in their summer (program page).

Warehouse Operations interns follow a week-by-week plan published on ALDI's warehouse internship page: a project assigned in weeks 1 and 2, store and warehouse training, leadership training, and a week shadowing executives before presenting the project in week 10. ALDI says intern projects "have the potential to be implemented on a national scale". ALDI also runs 12-week Information Technology and National Services internships in suburban Chicago, which weren't posted on 3 October.

When Do ALDI Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

ALDI posts its District Manager and Warehouse Operations reqs from late summer into early fall, about 9 to 10 months before a late-spring start. This cycle the first warehouse req went up on 29 July 2026, most District Manager reqs between 17 August and 9 September, and the newest warehouse req on 29 September. Applications for summer 2027 are open now with no stated close. ALDI's prior-cycle posting dates couldn't be recovered, but applicants' posts from earlier years show offers by late November and interviews as late as February, which fits a fall-to-spring rolling process. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around late July to September 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

ALDI's reqs don't list a deadline, which makes timing more important, not less. Each of the 38 reqs is one division or one warehouse with its own requisition number, so a division can fill and come down without warning. It's already happening. Between 28 September and 3 October, the Denton, Texas warehouse req closed and a new one opened in Jefferson, Georgia.

Past applicants reported District Manager intern offers by late November, which means the strongest divisions can be decided before winter break. Apply to the division where you actually want to live and work, and do it while that req is still live.

Which ALDI Internship Programs Should You Target?

ALDI runs four internship programs. Two are posted now, one req per division or warehouse; two are posted separately and weren't live on 3 October.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

ALDI's reqs keep eligibility short. The gates are your major, your availability and a pre-employment screen:

• Degree: District Manager interns must be pursuing a bachelor's in business or a related field; Warehouse Operations interns a bachelor's in supply chain management or a related field. ALDI's warehouse page adds that the program is open to students at any four-year college.

• Availability: full time, 40 hours a week, for all 10 weeks, in the division or warehouse named on the req.

• Physical (warehouse): hot and cold environments including freezers, standing most of the shift, and lifting product up to 45 lbs.

• Screening: employment may depend on a drug test, a motor vehicle report and a reference check.

• GPA and sponsorship: none of the 38 reqs states a GPA or a visa sponsorship policy.

Is a Business Degree a Hard Requirement?

The District Manager req says business "or related field", and the warehouse req says supply chain "or related field", so the major is a preference band rather than a strict list. A district manager posting on Reddit said their own DM had a history degree. What ALDI screens hard on is the profile: confidence, professionalism and the ability to lead store teams. Non-business majors should show leadership and retail or operations experience clearly on the resume.

What Skills Does ALDI Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

ALDI's intern reqs are two templates repeated across divisions, so the skill list is short and consistent. All 38 ask for strong verbal and written communication, relationships built on rapport and trust, staying organized while multitasking, prioritizing under strict deadlines, initiative and a strong work ethic, and attention to detail. Both tracks end with a presentation and report to ALDI executives. The track-specific layer is where they differ: District Manager reqs add the Customer Satisfaction Pyramid and customer walks, and Warehouse Operations reqs add Waste Walks, Seven Step Problem Solving and ALDI's ACTS competencies, such as acting as a business owner.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill in the chart maps to a remote Externship where you finish a real company project, which gives you a concrete answer when an interviewer asks how you'd manage people or improve an operation.

The last row matters most. Both ALDI tracks end with an executive presentation, so arriving with one finished recommendation already behind you is a real edge.

What Is the ALDI Application and Interview Process Like?

ALDI applies through its own job board, and the steps below combine its reqs with applicants' reports:

1. Pick your division. Use the divisional map, then apply to that division's District Manager req or that region's warehouse req on careers.aldi.us. Each is a separate application.

2. Recruiter screen. Applicants report a recruiter call first. One applicant heard back on two applications in 10 and 20 days.

3. Interviews. Past interviewees describe questions about managing people and what you know about ALDI and grocery retail, with heavy weight on coming across confident and professional.

4. Offer. Applicants have reported District Manager intern offers by late November, with other divisions still interviewing in February.

5. Pre-employment checks. Per the reqs, employment may depend on a drug test, a motor vehicle report and a reference check.

Know the ALDI model before the interview: a limited assortment of mostly ALDI-brand products, small stores and lean staffing. It explains most of what a district manager measures.

What Students on Reddit Say

ALDI's District Manager internship comes up on r/aldi and r/Aldi_employees, often from people who already work in the stores.

Asked how to prepare for a District Manager internship interview, a commenter said divisions look for a lot of confidence, and that you won't be picked if you don't come across as highly professional. Expect questions about managing people and about ALDI and grocery retail.

A student who had accepted a District Manager intern offer by late November 2021 asked about the drug test. A district manager replied that ALDI tested them before their internship, which matches the pre-employment screening line in the current reqs.

Store staff say ALDI hires district managers straight out of undergrad and posts many DM intern roles for college students, while store managers have no clear path up to DM. One commenter added that the bachelor's field doesn't matter much, since their own DM studied history.

How Do You Stand Out for an ALDI Internship?

Three moves you can make this fall.

First, apply to one division you'd really join. Each District Manager req names its territory, and ALDI hires district managers out of college, so a recruiter wants someone who'll stay in that region after graduation. Say why you want that division.

Second, prepare for a leadership interview, not a cashier interview. Have stories about managing people, handling a conflict and improving how something ran. Past applicants say confidence and professionalism weigh heavily.

Third, learn the model. Know why ALDI runs small stores with a limited, mostly private-label range, and know its growth: 180+ new stores in 2026 and a goal of 3,200 by the end of 2028, per its newsroom. ALDI doesn't publish applicant numbers or a conversion rate, but its reqs say select District Manager interns may get a full-time offer, and warehouse interns can earn a Warehouse Operations Supervisor offer.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 ALDI internship?

No. Summer 2026 has ended and those reqs are gone. What's open now is the summer 2027 cycle: 23 District Manager Intern and 15 Warehouse Operations Intern reqs, posted between 29 July and 29 September 2026. None lists a deadline, but divisions fill on their own schedule, so apply this fall.

How much do ALDI interns make?

$28.00 an hour plus overtime eligibility, for 40 hours a week, in both the District Manager and Warehouse Operations internships. ALDI prints that rate in all 38 live reqs. Over 10 weeks that's about $11,200 before overtime. Pay for the IT and National Services internships isn't published yet.

Is there a deadline for ALDI internship applications?

No. ALDI's reqs don't list a closing date, and each division or warehouse fills on its own. Past applicants reported offers by late November and interviews as late as February, so seats can go early. Apply as soon as you've picked your division.

How long is the ALDI internship?

The District Manager and Warehouse Operations internships run 10 weeks at 40 hours a week. ALDI's Information Technology and National Services internships run 12 weeks in the Chicago suburbs. ALDI doesn't publish the summer 2027 start date, so confirm it with your recruiter after an offer.

What degree do I need for an ALDI internship?

District Manager interns must be pursuing a bachelor's in business or a related field, and Warehouse Operations interns a bachelor's in supply chain management or a related field. ALDI's warehouse page says the program is open to students at any four-year college. No GPA is listed.

Does an ALDI internship lead to a full-time job?

It can. ALDI's reqs say successful District Manager interns may be offered a full-time role on graduation, and its warehouse page says exceptional interns may be offered a Warehouse Operations Supervisor position. ALDI doesn't publish a conversion rate or class size.

Does ALDI have tech or corporate internships?

Yes. ALDI runs a 12-week Information Technology internship in Aurora, Illinois and a 12-week National Services internship in Batavia, Aurora or Naperville, Illinois. Neither was posted on 3 October 2026, and their posting window isn't known, so set an alert on ALDI's intern jobs page.

Is this the same as ALDI UK or Trader Joe's?

No. This page covers ALDI US, based in Batavia, Illinois. ALDI UK runs a separate Area Manager graduate program, and Trader Joe's is a separate company with its own hiring. The $28 hourly rate and the 38 reqs here apply to ALDI US internships only.

ALDI's summer 2027 District Manager and Warehouse Operations reqs are open now with no deadline. Pick your division and apply, and if you want a finished project to bring to the interview, a remote Externship takes about 8 weeks.
