Utah Jazz internship listings rarely stay up long. In 2026 the Game Presentation Intern was posted on 1 June and closed on 8 June, and in the last week two more came down fast: a Youth Programs Intern closed on 28 September after 12 days and a Business Development Intern on 30 September after 9. The Jazz hire through Smith Entertainment Group, Ryan Smith's company that also owns the NHL's Utah Mammoth and runs the Delta Center, so many Jazz internships cover both teams. On 3 October 2026 two are open on the Jazz TeamWork board: a Basketball Analytics Intern for summer 2027, posted 30 September for current students, and a Jazz Bantam Game Day Intern for the fall and winter youth season. In plain words: the Jazz hire in several waves a year, and the first summer 2027 role is already up, so apply now if it fits.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, most running 8 weeks at 5–10 hours a week. The Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship builds the data work behind the Jazz analytics role, and the TikTok Social Media Content & Brand Strategy Externship fits the content and creative roles that post each summer.

What Is a Utah Jazz Internship?

A Utah Jazz internship is a mostly part-time role with the NBA team in Salt Lake City, hired by Smith Entertainment Group (SEG). SEG, chaired by Qualtrics co-founder Ryan Smith, also owns the Utah Mammoth of the NHL and operates the Delta Center, which the two teams share, so a Jazz posting often serves both teams. There's no branded program. Each department posts its own role: content and creative, broadcast, game presentation, premium experience, corporate partnerships, business development, youth programs such as Jazz Bantam and Lady Notes, and SEG's AI and innovation team. Basketball operations also hires a summer analytics intern. SEG lists its values as transparent, all in, community obsessed, one team and scrappy.

When Do Utah Jazz Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

The Jazz hire in waves rather than one class. Season-long interns for 2026-27 posted between 18 May and 12 August 2026; a year earlier the same wave ran from 1 July to 7 October 2025, so it moved about six weeks earlier in one cycle. Summer 2026 roles went up on 11 and 17 March 2026, and fall youth and partnership roles in mid-to-late September. Applications for the remaining summer 2027 roles are expected around mid-March 2027, and for 2027-28 season roles around mid-May to August 2027. The basketball analytics intern for summer 2027 has already posted, on 30 September 2026. Every Jazz listing shows a closing date three months out, which is TeamWork's default; the real closes came after one to two weeks.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERESHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

Applications are open for two roles: the Basketball Analytics Intern for summer 2027 (current undergraduate or graduate students, posted 30 September) and the Jazz Bantam Game Day Intern for the fall and winter youth season. The Youth Programs and Business Development interns closed on 28 and 30 September. Apply this week.

Single roles can post during the season, as they did in September. Build a portfolio for creative roles, and set TeamWork alerts on both the Jazz and Mammoth boards.

Applications for most summer 2027 roles expected, such as youth programs and facilities project management (2026: posted 11 and 17 March). Expect each listing to close within two to four weeks.

~Mid-May – August 2027EXPECTED

Applications for 2027-28 season interns expected: content and creative, broadcast, game presentation, premium experience and partnerships. In 2026 several closed within 7 to 14 days.

Summer 2027

Summer interns start, including the analytics intern's 10 to 12 weeks, partly onsite in Salt Lake City. Season interns start around September. The Jazz don't publish a return-offer rate.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

This is a short-window program. No Jazz posting states a deadline, and every listing shows a closing date three months out, but that's TeamWork's default. The real closes were much faster: Game Presentation was open 7 days in June 2026, Project Management 10, Broadcast 14, and in late September Youth Programs lasted 12 days and Business Development 9. The 2025 Business Development Intern lasted 12. Because the Jazz hire in several waves, there's usually something to apply for, but any single role is gone within about two weeks. Turn on alerts for both the Jazz and Mammoth boards, keep a resume and portfolio ready, and apply within a few days.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Requirements vary by role, and a few are firmer than students expect.

• Student status: most roles want current students or recent graduates in a related field; the analytics intern must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.

• Driving: youth roles need age 18 or older, a valid Utah driver's license and a Motor Vehicle Report screening, and the business development role asked for your own vehicle on event days.

• Schedule: game and event roles expect nights, weekends and holidays, and premium interns work all home games from three hours before tip-off.

• Portfolio and GPA: creative and photo roles require a link to past work. The 2025 photography posting asked for juniors or seniors with a 3.0 GPA, the only GPA floor we found.

• Work authorization: not stated in any posting we read.

Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?

Only on one track we found. The 2025 Photography Intern posting asked for a 3.0 GPA, and no other Jazz intern posting we read named one, including the analytics, youth, partnership and premium roles. For those, the screening is practical: whether you can cover game nights, whether you hold a Utah license for youth roles, and whether your portfolio or code shows the work. The analytics role asks for at least a year of Python or R.

What Skills Do the Utah Jazz Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Across nine Jazz and SEG intern postings from the last year, availability for nights, weekends and holidays shows up in seven. Communication skills and real interest in basketball or sports each appear in six. Organization and attention to detail come next, along with the Utah driver's license that every youth role requires. The technical asks are role-specific: Google Workspace for youth and premium, Adobe and Canva for creative and partnerships, and Python or R for analytics.

What Is the Utah Jazz Application and Interview Process Like?

The Jazz don't publish interview steps; these come from the postings.

1. Watch two boards. Follow the Jazz and Utah Mammoth pages on TeamWork Online, since many roles serve both teams, and turn on job alerts.

2. Apply fully. After Apply Now, TeamWork asks you to finish the application on a follow-up screen; an unfinished form doesn't count.

3. Attach proof. Creative and photo roles require a portfolio link; the analytics role values clean, documented code, so a GitHub link helps.

4. Clear screening. Youth roles run a Motor Vehicle Report check, and business development ran a pre-employment background screen.

5. Interview and start. Steps aren't published. Season roles start around September, summer roles in early summer.

Delta Center's own board lists arena operations, security and custodial jobs, which are part-time work rather than internships.

What the Community Says

First-hand Jazz intern accounts are scarce, so these cards mix one Reddit thread with Indeed intern reviews.

A fan asked how to get into the Jazz organization. Someone paid by the Jazz under the team's previous owner pointed to the parent company's careers site, and another commenter warned it was a tight-knit organization with few openings. The team has since changed hands to SEG.

How Do You Stand Out for a Utah Jazz Internship?

Three moves. First, be quick and ready. With listings closing in one to two weeks, have a resume, a short cover note and your portfolio or code link ready before the alert lands. Second, show you can work for two teams. Many Jazz roles also serve the Utah Mammoth, so mention both clubs and how you'd cover hockey game nights as well as basketball. Third, match the role's real ask. For analytics, share a basketball project in Python or R with documented code; for youth programs, show experience with kids; for creative, link finished video or photo work. The Jazz don't publish applicant numbers or a conversion rate, so treat each seat as competitive.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Utah Jazz internship?

No. Summer 2026 roles posted in March 2026 and closed in April. You can apply now for two roles: a Basketball Analytics Intern for summer 2027, posted 30 September 2026 for current students, and a Jazz Bantam Game Day Intern for the fall and winter youth season. More summer 2027 roles are expected around mid-March 2027.

When do Utah Jazz internship applications open for summer 2027?

One is already open: the Basketball Analytics Intern posted on 30 September 2026. Other summer roles, like youth programs and facilities, posted on 11 and 17 March in 2026, so we expect them around mid-March 2027. Season-long interns for 2027-28 are expected from mid-May to August 2027.

How long do Utah Jazz internship postings stay open?

Usually one to two weeks. In 2026 the Game Presentation Intern was open seven days, and in September the Youth Programs and Business Development interns closed after 12 and 9 days. The three-month closing date shown on each listing is TeamWork's default, so don't rely on it.

Are Utah Jazz internships paid?

Most postings don't state pay. The one published figure is $17 an hour for the 2026 Facilities Project Management Intern, and youth programs interns are hired as part-time employees. Don't assume that $17 applies to every role, especially the summer analytics internship, and ask about pay once you reach the interview stage.

Who hires Utah Jazz interns?

Smith Entertainment Group, the company chaired by Ryan Smith that owns the Jazz and the NHL's Utah Mammoth and runs the Delta Center. Many internships serve both teams, so a Jazz intern may work hockey games too. Jazz and Mammoth roles post on separate TeamWork boards, so watch both.

Is there a GPA requirement for Utah Jazz internships?

Only for one track we found: the 2025 Photography Intern asked for juniors or seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The other Jazz postings we read, including analytics, youth, partnerships and premium roles, name no GPA. They focus on availability, a related degree, and a portfolio or code.

What does the Utah Jazz basketball analytics intern need?

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in statistics, data science, math, computer science or a related field, and at least a year of analyzing data in Python or R. The posting also wants statistical modeling, machine learning and clear writing for nontechnical staff, with SQL and Git as a bonus.

Do I need a driver's license for a Jazz internship?

For youth roles, yes. The Jazz Bantam and Youth Programs postings require you to be at least 18, hold a valid Utah driver's license and pass a Motor Vehicle Report screening, because you travel between game sites. The business development role asked for your own vehicle on event days.

Jazz roles post in waves and close within weeks. Between waves, a remote Externship gives your next application a finished project to point at.
