A UMass Memorial Health internship, for college students, means CareerPATH: a paid, non-clinical role where you support management on "one large project or multiple small projects" in a business department. The requisition describes it as "an interesting, structured learning experience to prepare students for success as an administrative professional," with chances to network with other students interested in health care. What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
UMass Memorial's CareerPATH postings set a short list of requirements:
• Level: college and graduate students. Graduate roles "Requires a Bachelor's Degree," and some areas "may require a student to be enrolled in a graduate school program."
• Major: non-clinical fields. One 2026 undergraduate role in Payroll, Treasury and Accounts Payable gave "Priority … to Finance and Accounting majors."
• Skills: verbal and written communication, Microsoft Office, and the ability to work with the public and staff as part of a team.
• GPA and visas: not stated in the postings we read.
• Child Life: matriculated in a child life or related program, eligible for the ACLP certification exam after the internship, with volunteer hours with children in a health care setting.
• Nursing students: UMass Memorial lists no nurse externship. Some patient care technician postings accept second-year students in an associate degree nursing program.
Is CareerPATH Only a Summer Internship?
No, and that changes how you plan. The program is advertised as year-round, and the 2026 roles we could read weren't summer-only: the graduate Data Science role started in May 2026 and was "expected to run for a minimum duration of 12 months," while the undergraduate roles were per diem. If you can only work June to August, say so in your application and look for roles that fit. If you're local to Worcester and can keep working part time during the school year, you're a stronger fit for many of these postings.

What Is the UMass Memorial Health Application and Interview Process Like?

3. Recruiter screen and interview. Postings note that "a member of the Recruitment Team" confirms details such as signing-bonus eligibility during the interview process.
4. Pre-employment screening. Community reports describe a drug test at hire for some positions.
