Last updated: October 2026

Schellman doesn't run an audit internship that we could find. The firm does IT audit and cybersecurity assessments, with no tax returns and no financial statement audits. For summer 2026 it posted four remote internships inside its own internal teams (IT, business, compliance and marketing), and the copies we found had come down by April 10 to 11, 2026. On October 11, 2026, its Workday job board listed 12 roles, all experienced or contract, and no student role. In plain words: if Schellman repeats the program, you'd apply in spring 2027 and intern in summer 2027.

If you want to become an IT auditor there, the route is different. It's the full-time Emerging Talent Program, which brought in 15 new Associates from 7 universities in 2025, according to the firm's 2025 People & Talent Annual Report.

What Is a Schellman Internship?

A Schellman internship, in the one cycle we can document, is a remote summer role inside the firm's own operations, not on a client audit team. Schellman is a Tampa-based CPA firm founded in 2002 that calls itself "the only Top 100 CPA firm to specialize in IT Audit and Cybersecurity" on its careers page. Its staff assess companies against standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, FedRAMP and CMMC. Vault ranks Schellman #22 on the Vault Accounting 25 (2027 Vault Rankings). The firm's 2025 report counts 495 employees. For summer 2026 it posted IT, Business, Compliance and Marketing internships, all listed as remote. It has no internship page and publishes no class size, pay or dates. New graduates enter the audit side through the Emerging Talent Program, a one-year Associate program.

When Do Schellman Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Schellman publishes no internship calendar, so this section rests on one documented cycle. For summer 2026, three internship postings (IT, Business and Compliance) were copied to the job site Built In and removed there on April 10 and 11, 2026. A fourth, Marketing, circulated with an April 10, 2026 posting date. The original posting dates weren't recovered. That points to a spring window roughly 1.5 to 2.5 months before a summer start, far shorter than the lead at large accounting firms. If the firm repeats the program, postings for summer 2027 are expected around March to early April 2027. That's a low-confidence projection from a single cycle, and the firm hasn't said it will run the internships again.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERE

Applications for summer 2027 aren't open. On October 11, 2026, Schellman's board listed 12 roles, all experienced or contract, with no intern, student or campus posting. This window is for building the skills the 2026 postings named.

Build proof before spring: the Hydroficient Advanced: IoT Cyber Defense Externship for security controls, or the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship for data analysis and reporting.
Fall 2026 to winter 2027

If you graduate in 2027 and want the audit side, ask your career center whether Schellman recruits at your school for the Emerging Talent Program. The firm has no public campus calendar. Everyone else: learn SOC 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS basics.

March to early April 2027EXPECTEDSHORT WINDOW — APPLY WEEK 1

Summer 2027 internship postings expected, if Schellman repeats last cycle. In 2026 the IT, Business and Compliance copies were gone by April 10 to 11. Check the Workday board weekly from the start of March.

April to May 2027EXPECTED

Interviews and offers for summer 2027 would fall here. Schellman hasn't published an intern interview format.

Summer 2027

The internship itself, if offered. The 2026 roles were remote and sat in internal teams; start dates, length and pay weren't published.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

The evidence here supports a short window, not a rolling one. The summer 2026 postings we recovered stated no deadline, yet the Compliance copy was removed from Built In on April 10, 2026, and the IT and Business copies on April 11. A Marketing posting dated April 10 was circulating at the same time. There was one posting per team, so each role is a single seat or close to it. Two cautions. First, an aggregator's removal date can lead or lag the employer's own closing, so read these as approximate. Second, nothing is posted today, and the firm hasn't confirmed a 2027 program. If a posting does appear in spring 2027, treat it as open for days, and apply that week.

Which Schellman Internship Programs Should You Target?

These are the four internships seen for summer 2026 plus the full-time program that serves as Schellman's entry point on the audit side. None of the internships is posted for 2027.

The Emerging Talent details come from the firm's 2025 report and a RippleMatch write-up of the 2024 program. Ask the firm whether a class is running for your graduation year.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

These requirements come from the summer 2026 postings. Schellman hasn't published 2027 requirements, so treat them as a guide:

• Class year (IT, Business): "Completed 2 years of education, achieving Junior level status."

• Degree (IT): a bachelor's in data engineering, data analytics, information technology or business finance with a CIS concentration.

• Degree (Business): business administration, economics, CIS, MIS or a related field.

• Compliance: "Actively pursuing a joint JD/MBA program or a JD with an undergraduate business background."

• Work authorization: the postings say "Schellman uses E-Verify in our hiring process." They don't state a sponsorship policy.

• GPA: none stated in any posting we read.

Do You Need an Accounting Degree for Schellman?

No. Schellman is a CPA firm, but it doesn't prepare tax returns or audit financial statements, and none of its 2026 intern postings asked for an accounting major. They named data, IT, business and law backgrounds. For the full-time Emerging Talent Program, a Vault survey respondent described new hires as graduates "with little to no experience," and the 2025 class came from schools including the University of Montana, the University of Houston, Ohio State and the University at Buffalo.

What Skills Does Schellman Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

The 2026 IT Internship posting was specific: "Ability to read and write SQL," Power BI dashboards and metrics, data validation during a platform move, and AWS as a plus. The Business Internship named process-mapping and project tools: Miro, Visio, Kantata, Wrike, Jira and Confluence. The Compliance Internship centered on contract redlining in Ironclad and vendor records in OneTrust. On the audit side, the vocabulary to learn is the set of standards Schellman assesses against: SOC 1 and SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, FedRAMP, CMMC and HITRUST.

Note: We haven't charted skill frequency for Schellman. Its board had no student posting on October 11, 2026, and only three summer 2026 internship postings could be recovered, each for a different team. Three unrelated postings are too few to count honestly, so the skills above are quoted from each one.

For Schellman applicants: Schellman's own board had no intern or student posting on October 11, 2026; all 12 open roles were experienced or contract positions. Its summer 2026 internships appeared in spring, so the market's fall wave doesn't apply to this firm.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill below comes from a Schellman 2026 posting or from the firm's core work, and maps to a remote Externship you can finish before spring.

A security or audit certification in progress, such as Security+ or CISA study, also signals fit. Schellman's careers page says it pays for certification prep and exam fees for staff.

What Is the Schellman Application and Interview Process Like?

Schellman doesn't describe an intern hiring process, and no intern has written one up. This is what the sources support:

1. Watch the Workday board. There's no student page or alert form, so check the board weekly from March 2027.

2. Apply to the specific posting. In 2026 each internship was its own posting for one team.

3. Interviews. The intern format isn't published. For hires generally, a Vault survey respondent called the process "pretty stringent" and said "a lot of the time we interview referrals."

4. Emerging Talent goes through campus. RippleMatch's write-up of the 2024 program describes an Emerging Talent Team, local recruiting committees at individual schools, introduction sessions and regular online sessions.

5. Confirm the class. Ask whether an Emerging Talent class is planned for your graduation year; the firm publishes no schedule.

Because referrals matter, a conversation with a Schellman employee from your school is worth more here than at firms with a large intern class.

What Students on Reddit Say

No intern has posted about Schellman on Reddit. These threads are from students and staff discussing the full-time Associate route, so read them as background on the firm.

A student said a Schellman recruiter visited their school and the reviews looked too good to be true. An employee replied that SOC fieldwork runs about four weeks per engagement, a faster pace than months-long SOX audits, and that their client work has been done remotely.

A graduating student reported a full-time IT audit offer of $65,000, with one year in Ohio and then remote, fully paid healthcare and a 401(k) match. That's a full-time Associate offer, not intern pay.

Asked in 2026 whether the firm is as good as it sounds, replies were mixed. Some pointed to the benefits, while others said, second-hand, that workloads are heavy year-round and that switching service lines is hard.

How Do You Stand Out for a Schellman Internship?

Three moves. First, decide which door you want. If you want to be an IT auditor, the target is the Emerging Talent Program in your final year, not an internship. If you want a summer role, the 2026 internships were in the firm's internal IT, operations, legal and marketing teams. Second, learn the standards. Schellman does no tax and no financial statement audit, so a general "I want to be an accountant" pitch misses. Know what SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, FedRAMP and CMMC are before any conversation. Third, show the named tools. SQL and Power BI for the IT role, process mapping and project tools for the Business role, privacy and contract coursework for the Compliance role. Schellman publishes no intern class size, applicant count or conversion rate. The one hard number is full-time: 15 Emerging Talent hires in 2025, alongside 62 regular full-time hires.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Schellman internship?

No. The summer 2026 internships (IT, Business, Compliance and Marketing) were posted in spring 2026, and the copies we found were removed by April 10 and 11, 2026. On October 11, 2026, Schellman's board listed 12 roles, all experienced or contract. If the firm repeats the program, expect summer 2027 postings around March to early April 2027.

When do Schellman internship applications open for summer 2027?

Schellman hasn't announced a date or confirmed a 2027 program. Based on the one documented cycle, postings for summer 2027 are expected around March to early April 2027, about 1.5 to 2.5 months before a summer start. Last cycle's postings were down within days, so check the Workday board weekly from March.

Does Schellman have an IT audit internship?

Not that we could find. The four internships seen for summer 2026 sat in the firm's internal IT, business operations, compliance and marketing teams, not on client audit teams. Schellman's documented entry point on the audit side is the full-time Emerging Talent Program for new graduates, which reported 15 hires in 2025.

What is the Schellman Emerging Talent Program?

It's a full-time Associate program for new graduates, not an internship. A RippleMatch write-up of the 2024 program describes a one-year program that begins with at least 8 weeks of on-the-job training and a buddy from day one. Schellman's 2025 report counts 15 Emerging Talent hires from 7 universities. Confirm with the firm that a class is planned.

How much do Schellman interns make?

Schellman doesn't publish intern pay, and none of the summer 2026 postings we recovered carried a range. The only figure we found is for a full-time role: a Reddit poster reported a $65,000 IT audit Associate offer in October 2024. That number is community-reported and isn't an intern rate.

Are Schellman internships remote?

The summer 2026 internships were listed as remote in the United States. Experienced roles are mostly remote too: all 12 roles on the board on October 11, 2026, were listed as remote, nationwide or in Florida. Emerging Talent Associates start with on-the-job training, then move to hybrid and later fully remote work, per a 2024 write-up.

Do you need an accounting degree for a Schellman internship?

No. The 2026 IT and Business postings asked for bachelor's students with two years completed, in fields such as data analytics, information technology, business administration, economics or MIS. The Compliance posting asked for JD or JD/MBA students. Schellman is a CPA firm, but it does IT audit and cybersecurity assessments, not tax or financial audits.

Do Schellman interns get full-time offers?

That isn't known. Schellman publishes no conversion rate, and the 2026 internships sat in internal teams, so it's unclear whether they feed full-time roles. The hard number is on the graduate side: the firm's 2025 report shows 15 Emerging Talent hires alongside 62 regular full-time hires, about one new hire in five.

Schellman's student roles aren't posted, and last cycle they appeared in spring for only a short time. Use the months before: a remote Externship in security or data gives you a finished project to show when a posting goes up.
