Protiviti's summer 2027 internship is open right now. On 3 October 2026 its Workday board listed 32 US requisitions titled "Intern - 2027", most posted on 31 August, across Internal Audit & Financial Advisory, Technology Consulting, Business Performance Improvement and Legal, Risk & Compliance. Thirty-one of them publish the same pay: $28 to $38 an hour. The plain-words version: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027.

One rule shapes everything else. Each requisition says students may apply for only one location or capability, and duplicate applications won't be accepted. Protiviti, a subsidiary of Robert Half, says it has been on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list for twelve years running. Sophomores aren't eligible for the 2027 roles; their route is Discover Protiviti, whose applications for the next internship year opened in mid-November last cycle.

What Is a Protiviti Internship?

A Protiviti internship is a paid, 6-to-8-week summer role at the global risk and technology consulting firm, aimed at students within a year of graduating and evaluated as a route into a full-time consultant job. Interns join one of four capabilities in one US office: Internal Audit & Financial Advisory (business process or technology audit), Technology Consulting, Business Performance Improvement, or Legal, Risk & Compliance.

The program starts with Liftoff with Protiviti, a live-virtual onboarding, and The Intern Challenge, a case-based course. Each intern gets a peer advisor and a career advisor and works on client projects. Protiviti lists more than 85 offices in over 25 countries, and its students page describes the North American internship as running each summer between June and August.

When Do Protiviti Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Protiviti is a default-cycle firm: it posts summer internships in late summer for the following June. Twenty-nine of this cycle's requisitions went up on 31 August 2026 and one more on 4 September, a lead time of about nine months before a May or June start. The eight Technology Consulting reqs now carry a 29 September posting date and include a Charlotte Technology Consulting req that wasn't on the board in late September.

Sophomores follow a separate track. Discover Protiviti is a one-day spring event for students about two years from graduation, and they apply for the following year's internship to get in. Last cycle Protiviti announced on 18 November 2025 that applications were open for its 2027 internships, with select candidates invited to Discover in spring 2026.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

This one is rolling, and Protiviti says so. Its students FAQ tells applicants to apply early because timelines vary by region and capability and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. No requisition carries a deadline, so seats in a given office can fill while the posting is still up.

The one-application rule raises the stakes. You can't hedge by applying to three offices, so pick the office where you'd want a full-time job; the FAQ warns that transfers after hiring are limited. Get that decision made this week, then apply.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The rules come straight from the 2027 requisitions and Protiviti's FAQ:

• Graduation timing: you must be within one year of final graduation at the time of the internship. Students about two years out go through Discover instead.

• Degree: a bachelor's or master's in a relevant field. IAFA lists accounting, computer science, data science, engineering, finance and information systems; Legal, Risk & Compliance also accepts JD candidates.

• Work authorization: no sponsorship now or in the future. The FAQ names F-1 CPT, OPT, STEM OPT and H-1B among the statuses it doesn't sponsor for early-career roles.

• AI tools: every 2027 req asks for experience applying AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or GenAI to analytical work.

• Age and location: 18 or older at the time of the internship, and working from your designated office for the whole summer.

Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?

No. Protiviti's FAQ says it doesn't have a strict GPA cutoff and evaluates candidates as a whole, but recruiting collects your transcript before interviews, so grades are read. A lower GPA with strong case performance and relevant tools is a better bet here than at firms with published floors.

All 32 summer 2027 requisitions share one qualifications template: AI tools, strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, working in teams and independently, interpreting data, and a drive toward professional certifications. The capability-specific lines sit underneath. IAFA asks for internal audit frameworks, Microsoft Office, Power BI and an interest in Alteryx, Power Platform or Python. Technology Consulting adds BI reporting tools, SQL databases, IT controls and security topics. BPI wants a foundation in accounting and finance processes and the habit of documenting findings.

Protiviti publishes its process in the students FAQ:

1. Apply to one role. One office and one capability on the Workday board; duplicates are rejected.

2. Recruiter conversation. Your background, the role and logistics.

3. Transcript. Recruiting collects it before interviews.

4. Case interview with a practice member. A 2026 Technology Consulting candidate was handed a business process model and asked where the risks were and what controls to add.

How Do You Stand Out With Only One Protiviti Application?

Three moves.

First, choose deliberately. Read the four capability descriptions and pick the one your coursework already supports; an accounting major applying to IAFA reads more clearly than one applying everywhere at once. Pick the office where you'd take a full-time job.

Second, practice the risk-and-controls case. Draw a simple process for something familiar, like a campus bookstore's ordering flow, and name three risks and the control that would catch each. That's the shape of the case a 2026 candidate described.

Third, have one specific AI example. Every 2027 req asks about AI tools, and the IAFA wording stresses human judgment in the loop. Describe a task you sped up with Copilot or a GenAI tool and how you checked the output. Protiviti doesn't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate.
