Last updated: October 2026

SailPoint hasn't posted a US internship yet. As of October 26, 2026, its own job board lists 105 open requisitions and none is a US internship. SailPoint's Sail-U student page, as captured in May 2026, said "Recruiting for the summer class will begin in the fall of the prior year," and the first Summer 2027 intern requisition did appear on October 22, 2026, in the UK. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026 or soon after, you intern in summer 2027, and the US posting is the one to watch. The Sail-U internship is 10 weeks and based at SailPoint's Austin, Texas headquarters.

What Is a SailPoint Internship?

A SailPoint internship is a 10-week summer placement called Sail-U at SailPoint, the Austin, Texas identity security software company. SailPoint says it began as a small Austin startup and is now a publicly traded identity security leader. Each summer a cohort of interns comes to the Austin headquarters, and its page lists five areas: engineering, information technology, cybersecurity, product management and customer experience. SailPoint's Identity University is customer training, not a student program. SailPoint doesn't publish a class size, pay or a conversion rate for US interns.

When Do SailPoint Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

SailPoint's own words set the calendar. The Sail-U page, as captured in May 2026, said recruiting for the summer class begins in the fall of the prior year. If US postings go up in fall 2026, that's roughly 8 months before a June start, our assumption, since SailPoint doesn't publish the US start date. As of October 26, 2026 nothing US has appeared. The first Summer 2027 requisition on the board is a UK Software Engineer Intern created October 22, which suggests the wave is starting but gives no US dates. SailPoint rewrote the Sail-U page between May and October 2026, dropping the Handshake instruction and the fall sentence, so the fall rule is a statement from May, not a current promise.

The US window hasn't opened. SailPoint's board lists 105 open requisitions on October 26, 2026 and no US internship. Use this time to join the talent network on the Sail-U page and build proof.

Fall 2026 to winter 2027EXPECTED

Expected US window for summer 2027, per SailPoint's May 2026 page. Check the Workday board and Sail-U page weekly, and search Handshake for "SailPoint" as the page used to say. SailPoint doesn't publish how long applications stay open.

After you apply

SailPoint doesn't publish interview steps or offer timing for Sail-U.

Summer 2027

A 10-week internship at the Austin headquarters, in the function you choose, with a team project and mentors per intern testimonials. Interns also see some of the Launch events for new graduates. The US start date isn't published.

Fall 2027EXPECTED

Summer 2028 recruiting expected to follow the same fall-of-the-prior-year rule, if SailPoint still applies it. We have no prior US posting dates to confirm the pattern, so treat this as low confidence.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

SailPoint hasn't told students how long its window stays open, so the safe plan is to be ready before it starts. Its May 2026 page said recruiting begins in the fall, and a UK internship requisition already went up on October 22. Join the talent network, check the Workday board weekly, and have your resume ready. Because SailPoint publishes no deadline, we can't say whether the US roles will stay open for days or months, which is why applying in the first week is the lower-risk choice once a US posting appears.

Which SailPoint Internship Programs Should You Target?

SailPoint lists five internship and student program areas on its Sail-U page. No US requisition exists yet for any of them, so the table shows what each area covers, not open roles.

Program areaFocusDurationKey details
EngineeringDesign, develop and test scalable software features for adaptive identity; pair with senior developers10 weeks (Sail-U)No US posting yet; the UK Software Engineer Intern posting names Golang, Angular and AWS, but it's a non-US role

Browse the Sail-U page and the Workday board. SailPoint's Launch program is for new graduates, not interns.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

SailPoint hasn't published US eligibility for the 2027 class. This is what we can say from its pages as of October 26, 2026.

• Student status: Sail-U is SailPoint's student program, and interns are described as part of a summer cohort. The page names no class year or degree level.

• Major: the five areas span engineering, IT, cybersecurity, product management and customer experience. Intern testimonials include an HR intern, so the program isn't limited to technical majors.

• Work authorization and GPA: not published for US interns.

• Location: the cohort comes to the Austin, Texas headquarters. One intern says onsite training was followed by remote work.

• UK posting: a Software Engineer Intern posting requires UK work authorization and is outside this guide.

Is Sail-U Only for Engineers?

No. SailPoint's page lists information technology, cybersecurity, product management and customer experience next to engineering, and one named intern worked in human resources. We have no US requisitions yet, so we can't say which areas will hire in 2027. The only posting we found is an engineering role in the UK, so don't read it as the full program.

Profile Match · Extern Data

Could You Get In at SailPoint? Compare Your Profile

Based on 403 software engineering interns who started their first software internship between 2024 and 2026 (public LinkedIn profiles, aggregated). Six questions, under a minute.

Question 1 of 6

Which summer are you applying for?

Recruiting timelines differ by class year, so we compare you with the right group.

Question 2 of 6

Which group is your school closest to?

Firms recruit on campus in tiers. We match you against admits from schools like yours.

Question 3 of 6

Is your major computer science, software engineering, data science or electrical engineering?

Almost every software intern in our data studied one of these. Other majors get in, but the coursework has to show elsewhere.

Question 4 of 6

How many internships, externships or research positions have you held so far?

Count anything with a real employer, mentor or principal investigator attached. Retail and food service do not count.

Question 5 of 6

Has any of that experience been tech-related?

Software, data, IT, engineering or a research lab. Any size of company counts.

Question 6 of 6

Do you have at least one project on your resume or LinkedIn?

Personal, class, hackathon or open-source projects all count.

What Skills Does SailPoint Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

With no US posting to read, the clearest signal is SailPoint's own description of each area. Engineering names designing, developing and testing software features and implementing robust code. IT names enterprise systems, network troubleshooting and business intelligence tools. Cybersecurity names network traffic analysis, vulnerability assessments and incident response. Product management names roadmaps, prioritization and turning market research into requirements. Customer experience names analyzing client feedback and building enablement resources. A single UK engineering posting lists Golang, Angular, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and SQL, but it's one team in another country.

Note: SailPoint has no US internship posting and only one non-US intern requisition, so there are no job descriptions to chart honestly.

For SailPoint applicants: SailPoint's own Workday board listed 105 open requisitions on October 26, 2026, and one was an internship, in the UK, so the US wave hasn't shown up on its board yet.

Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each SailPoint area maps to a remote Externship you can finish before the US window opens.

The overlap is closest on security and data. No open Externship teaches identity governance or the Golang and Kubernetes stack in the UK posting, so use projects to show those.

What Is the SailPoint Application and Interview Process Like?

SailPoint doesn't publish interview steps for Sail-U. This is what its pages show.

1. Watch for the posting. Check the Sail-U page and Workday board; the page used to send students to Handshake.

2. Join the talent network on the Sail-U page for alerts.

3. Apply to the US posting when it appears, in the area you choose.

4. Wait for contact. SailPoint doesn't publish stages, timing or offer dates.

Don't confuse Sail-U with Identity University, SailPoint's customer training and certification site.

What We Found on Reddit

Nothing we can use. Reddit results for SailPoint are mostly an India campus placement drive, product training threads and full-time interview posts, and two threads we tried wouldn't load. We'd rather show no quotes than borrow another company's.

How Do You Stand Out for a SailPoint Internship?

First, learn what SailPoint sells. It describes itself as an identity security leader, and its Sail-U page talks about adaptive identity, so read one product page and say what problem it solves. Second, pick your area and show one project in it, such as a vulnerability scan write-up for cybersecurity or a small web feature for engineering. Third, be ready early: SailPoint said recruiting begins in the fall, and it has published no deadline. Join the talent network and check the board weekly. SailPoint publishes no applicant counts, pay or conversion rate for US interns.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 SailPoint internship?

No. The summer 2026 Sail-U class has finished. SailPoint's page said summer recruiting begins in the fall of the prior year, so the cycle to target is summer 2027. As of October 26, 2026, no US internship requisition was open on SailPoint's board.

When do SailPoint internship applications open?

SailPoint's page, as captured in May 2026, said recruiting for the summer class begins in the fall of the prior year. As of October 26, 2026 its board shows no US intern posting, only a UK Software Engineer Intern created October 22. We expect the US window in fall 2026.

Where do I apply for a SailPoint internship?

Start at SailPoint's Sail-U page, which links to its Workday board and a talent network form. Until May 2026 the page also told students to search for SailPoint on Handshake. SailPoint hasn't said which route the 2027 US postings will use, so watch all of them.

How long is the SailPoint internship?

Ten weeks, according to the Sail-U page, in the function you choose, with some virtual and some in-person time. The US start date isn't published. The only Summer 2027 posting, in the UK, runs June 28 to September 3, 2027, but that's a non-US role.

Where are SailPoint internships located?

The Sail-U cohort comes to SailPoint's headquarters in Austin, Texas. One named intern says the onsite training was followed by remote work. SailPoint hasn't published the 2027 US work model, so confirm location and remote options in the posting when it appears.

Which majors can apply for a SailPoint internship?

The Sail-U page lists engineering, information technology, cybersecurity, product management and customer experience, and one intern testimonial comes from human resources. SailPoint hasn't published US degree or class-year requirements, so check each posting carefully once the 2027 roles appear on the board.

Are SailPoint internships paid?

SailPoint doesn't publish US intern pay on its pages or board. The only intern requisition, in the UK, lists a pound hourly range, but that's a non-US figure and doesn't apply here. Ignore pay numbers from job-board and review sites unless SailPoint prints them.

Is SailPoint Identity University a student program?

No. Identity University is SailPoint's customer training and certification site for people who use its software. It isn't an internship or a student program, and completing it doesn't count as applying. The student program is Sail-U, and early-career new graduates join a separate cohort called Launch.

Join the talent network, watch the Workday board, and apply in the first week a US posting appears. While you wait, a remote Externship gives you a finished security or data project to talk about in the interview.
