The Phoenix Suns don't run one big summer class. Their parent company, Player 15 Group, posts intern roles in waves through the year: spring-semester analytics interns on 6 October 2025, a Phoenix Mercury communications intern and a ticket sales intern in early May 2026, and social and digital roles in late summer. On 17 October 2026 only one intern-titled role was open, Payroll Services, and it asks for a high school diploma or GED rather than college enrollment. Here's the cycle in plain words: you apply about one to three months before each start, so the next window to watch is the spring 2027 batch (January to May 2027), expected this fall, then summer 2027 roles around April to May 2027.

One intern-titled role was open on 17 October 2026 (Payroll Services, no college requirement). Spring 2027 seasonal roles are expected around October to November 2026, and summer 2027 roles around April to May 2027.

The Suns' postings ask for Python, R and SQL on the analytics side, media relations and social content on the communications side, and sales stamina on the ticket side, so a finished project helps. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. The Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis & Strategy Externship fits ticket sales and business analytics, and the Beats by Dre Creative Advertising Strategy Externship fits communications and social roles. What Is a Phoenix Suns Internship?

A Phoenix Suns internship is a role with the NBA team's front office, hired through Player 15 Group, the sports and entertainment company behind the Phoenix Suns (NBA), Phoenix Mercury (WNBA), Valley Suns (G League) and Mortgage Matchup Center. Player 15 Group is headquartered in downtown Phoenix. There is no named program: each internship is its own posting for a specific team or department, and the Suns' careers page links to Player 15 Group's candidate portal. Postings we found in the last cycle cover basketball applied science, database and software engineering, communications for the Phoenix Mercury, ticket sales and service, digital engagement, social media and payroll. Arena concession jobs belong to a separate company, OVG Hospitality.

When Do Phoenix Suns Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Player 15 Group posts in waves, each with its own short lead time. Spring-semester seasonal roles for January to May 2026 went up on 6 October 2025 and were listed through 12 November. Summer-style roles followed in May 2026: the Mercury communications role on 4 May and Ticket Sales & Service on 7 May. Digital Engagement and Social Media roles appeared in the board archive by late August and mid September 2026, and the Payroll Services intern was posted on 17 September 2026. Lead times are about 1 to 3 months, so there is no single summer opening to wait for.

Now · October 2026YOU ARE HERE

One intern-titled role is open: Intern, Payroll Services, posted 17 September 2026 and listed through 17 December. It asks for a high school diploma or GED, so it isn't a student program. The spring 2027 analytics and engineering roles haven't appeared yet.

Applications for spring 2027 seasonal roles (January to May 2027) are expected. Last cycle's Basketball Applied Science role was posted 6 October and listed until 12 November, about five weeks. Check both boards weekly.

January to May 2027EXPECTED

Spring seasonal internships run, as the January to May 2026 cohort did. Several analytics and engineering roles were remote last cycle.

~April to May 2027EXPECTED

Applications for summer 2027 roles are expected. In 2026 the Mercury communications role went up on 4 May and Ticket Sales & Service on 7 May, listed for two weeks.

Summer to fall 2027

Summer and fall interns start. Digital Engagement and Social Media roles showed up in the board archive in August and September 2026, so expect similar late-summer postings in 2027.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

The Suns' windows vary, so check often instead of waiting for one date. The spring analytics roles were listed for about five weeks, the Ticket Sales & Service role for two, and the Mercury communications role for three months. Closed roles stay visible on TeamWork Online with a closed notice, so it's easy to mistake an old posting for a live one. Set alerts on both the Dayforce portal and the TeamWork board, and apply in the first week a role appears, since the Suns don't publish an applicant count.

Which Phoenix Suns Internship Programs Should You Target?

Player 15 Group posts role-specific internships rather than a single program. These are the ones we found in the last cycle; pay isn't stated on any of them.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Eligibility depends on the role, and the postings are specific:

• Ticket Sales & Service (2026): currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior, with at least 30 hours a week including nights, weekends and game days.

• Communications, Phoenix Mercury (2026): currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's or master's program in communications or a similar field.

• Analytics and engineering (spring 2026): currently pursuing or recently graduated with a bachelor's, master's or PhD in a STEM field.

• Payroll Services (open now): a high school diploma or GED; the posting doesn't mention college enrollment.

• GPA and academic credit: not stated in the postings we read.

Can You Apply Without Being a Junior or Senior?

For some roles, yes. The Ticket Sales & Service posting is open to sophomores, and the communications and analytics postings name enrollment or a recent degree rather than a class year. The analytics roles lean on STEM coursework and projects, so a sophomore with Python, R and SQL work to show has a real shot.

What Skills Do the Phoenix Suns Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

We read four Suns postings in full, which is too few to chart, so here is what they ask for in words. Analytics roles: Python, R and SQL, with scikit-learn and TensorFlow or PyTorch as a plus, and ownership of an end-to-end project. Communications: media relations and PR writing. Ticket Sales & Service: availability for nights, weekends and game days. Payroll: Excel, organization and basic math.

Note: We read four Suns intern postings in full (Basketball Applied Science, Communications for the Phoenix Mercury, Ticket Sales & Service and Payroll Services), which is too few to chart. The skills above come straight from those postings.

What Is the Phoenix Suns Application and Interview Process Like?

The Suns don't publish an interview format. This is what the postings and boards show:

1. Set alerts on both boards. Player 15 Group posts on its Dayforce portal and mirrors the roles on the Suns' TeamWork Online board.

2. Pick the team. Postings name the property: Suns, Mercury or Valley Suns. Mention which one you want.

3. Apply with role-specific proof. The analytics postings ask for Python, R and SQL, so link a project.

4. Interview. Interview steps and timing aren't published. Ticket Sales & Service expects nights, weekends and game days, so be ready to talk about availability.

5. Offer. The postings don't state pay or start dates for interns, so ask both questions early.

Questions about a posting can go to the recruiting address listed on the Dayforce postings, recruiting@suns.com.

What Students on Reddit Say

We found no first-hand Suns intern threads on Reddit. Searches returned only job-bot reposts of the team's own postings, which aren't community experience, so there are no quote cards here.

How Do You Stand Out for a Suns Internship?

Three moves. First, treat the Suns as a rolling employer: check both boards every week from late October, because spring roles went up on 6 October last year and summer-style roles in May. Second, show the skill the posting names. For analytics roles that means a Python, R or SQL project on real data, ideally basketball; for ticket sales it means proof you can handle nights and game days. Third, name the property you want, since postings are tied to the Suns, Mercury or Valley Suns. The Suns don't publish an applicant count or a conversion rate, so treat the internship as the foot in the door and ask about full-time paths once you're in.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Phoenix Suns internship?

No. The summer-style 2026 roles are closed: Ticket Sales & Service was listed through 20 May 2026, and the Mercury communications role through 4 August. One intern-titled role was open on 17 October 2026, Payroll Services, which asks for a high school diploma or GED. The next windows are spring 2027 and summer 2027.

When do Phoenix Suns internship applications open for 2027?

Spring 2027 seasonal roles are expected around October to November 2026, since last year's were posted on 6 October 2025. Summer 2027 roles are expected around April to May 2027, as the 2026 ones went up on 4 and 7 May. Both are projections, so check the boards weekly.

Are any Phoenix Suns internships open right now?

One intern-titled role: Intern, Payroll Services, posted 17 September 2026 and listed through 17 December. It asks for a high school diploma or GED and doesn't mention college enrollment, so it isn't clearly a student program. Spring 2027 analytics and engineering roles hadn't appeared on 17 October 2026.

Are Phoenix Suns internships paid?

Pay isn't published. None of the Suns intern postings we read, including the open Payroll role and archived Ticket Sales, Communications and Applied Science roles, states a rate. The Payroll posting lists benefits that vary by employment status and eligibility, so ask about pay and benefits early in the process.

Who hires Phoenix Suns interns?

Player 15 Group, the sports and entertainment company behind the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Valley Suns and Mortgage Matchup Center. Roles are posted per team or department on Player 15 Group's Dayforce portal and mirrored on TeamWork Online. Arena concession jobs belong to a separate company, OVG Hospitality, which posts separately.

Can I intern remotely with the Suns?

Sometimes. The spring 2026 Basketball Applied Science, Database Engineering and Software Engineering seasonal roles were listed as remote, while the Payroll, Ticket Sales and Communications roles were in person in downtown Phoenix. Whether the spring 2027 analytics roles stay remote depends on postings that haven't appeared yet.

Who can apply for a Suns internship?

It depends on the role. Ticket Sales & Service asked for enrolled sophomores, juniors or seniors. Communications asked for current or recent bachelor's or master's students. The analytics roles asked for current or recent STEM students up to PhD level. The open Payroll role asks for a high school diploma or GED. No GPA is stated.

What's the difference between the Suns, Mercury and Valley Suns?

They're three teams under one employer. The Phoenix Suns play in the NBA, the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, and the Valley Suns in the G League, and all three are Player 15 Group properties. Each internship posting names its team, so check which one you'd work for before you apply.

One intern role is open at the Suns today, and the spring 2027 batch is expected this fall. Set alerts on both boards, build a project that matches the role, and if you want a finished piece to show, a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week.
