Last updated: October 2026
Novant Health, the North Carolina and South Carolina health system, doesn't run one annual internship cycle. On 26 October 2026 its job site listed 1,583 open requisitions and a single business internship: an Investments Intern at Novant Asset Management Company in Charlotte, posted 15 October 2026 with no term and no closing date. Around it sit paid, project-based internships for undergraduate and graduate students that you apply to by email, a pharmacy student program and clinical apprenticeships. In plain words: no summer 2027 date is published, so apply to the open posting now and email the program team.

Novant's business-side internship pipeline is one posting plus an email route, so there is no deadline to wait for and no class to join.
Externships are short, remote project programs run by Extern. Most run 8 weeks at 5–10 hours a week, so one fits alongside an application. The Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling Externship gives you a model to discuss for the Investments Intern posting, and the Healthcare Operations & Consulting Externship builds the project work that Experience Novant Health describes. What Is a Novant Health Internship?
A Novant Health internship is a paid student placement at a not-for-profit health system that describes itself as having more than 900 locations, 19 hospitals and more than 40,000 team members across North Carolina and South Carolina. There is no single branded program: Novant lists several, each with its own route.
The business-side programs are Experience Novant Health, which Novant describes as a system-wide, project-based program for undergraduate and graduate interns placed in identified departments, and the Investments Intern at Novant Asset Management Company, the system's investment arm. Clinical programs sit beside them: a paid pharmacy internship, a Student Nurse Apprenticeship and a surgical technology extern posting. The Administrative Fellowship is for graduates and students whose degree program requires a fellowship.

When Do Novant Health Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Novant publishes no application calendar for its business-side internships. The Investments Intern posting was created on 15 October 2026 and names no term. The paid internships page gives contacts but no dates for Experience Novant Health, and the pharmacy program says only that Novant is recruiting.
Because the posting names no start date, we can't state a lead time. The two fixed-window programs we found are for graduates and have already closed: the Administrative Fellowship deadline was 4 September 2026, and the Winter/Spring 2027 Child Life Internship deadline was also 4 September 2026.
The Investments Intern posting is open, with no term and no closing date. It's the only business-side internship among 1,583 open requisitions on Novant's job site.
Email PaidPrograms@NovantHealth.org about Experience Novant Health, or PharmacyEducationalPrograms@NovantHealth.org if you're a North Carolina pharmacy student. Neither page lists a deadline, and placements are made into identified departments.
The Administrative Fellowship (graduate-only) closed on 4 September 2026 for a fellowship starting in early July 2027. The Child Life Internship for Winter/Spring 2027 also closed on 4 September, with initial offers scheduled for 6 October.
No summer 2027 dates are published for any business-side program. The RN New Grad Residency Summer 2027 cohort, posted on 12 October 2026, is for nursing graduates and isn't a student internship.
The next Administrative Fellowship cycle is expected around the same time of year if the 2026 timetable repeats. Low confidence: we saw one cycle, and Novant doesn't publish a calendar for its other programs.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Novant sets no deadline on the Investments Intern posting, so this isn't a hard-deadline page. The reason to apply now is that it's one requisition at one asset management team. When it's filled or withdrawn, the board has no other business internship for you to apply to.
The email programs are placed department by department, so an early message reaches the team before it settles on a student.
Which Novant Health Internship Programs Should You Target?
Start with the business-side routes, then check the clinical programs if you're in a health-professional degree. Clinical rows are labelled.

| Pharmacy Student Paid Internship (clinical) | Hospital pharmacy practice in acute-care hospitals across North Carolina | Incoming PY1 or PY2 at a North Carolina school of pharmacy | Recruiting; apply by email |

See all of them on Novant's student programs page. Novant also runs Bridges to Healthcare for high school students; school-arranged clinical rotations go through your school, not these programs.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Gates differ by program:
• Experience Novant Health: undergraduate or graduate students. Novant publishes no GPA, class year or major for the program.
• Investments Intern: on site in Charlotte, so you must be local to the area. The posting's required education lines read "High School Diploma or GED" and "Currently in Medical Office Administration Studies", while the duties and preferred skills are about economics, finance, business administration, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science and Python or R. The two don't match, so ask the recruiter what the team really wants.
• Pharmacy (clinical): incoming PY1 or PY2 students in good standing at a North Carolina school of pharmacy, able to work every third weekend in the academic year and about 32 hours a week in summer.
• Student Nurse Apprenticeship (clinical): certified nursing assistant students formally accepted to an accredited nursing program.
• Administrative Fellowship (graduate-only): recent graduates of a CAHME-accredited MHA, MBA or MPH program, or students in a program that requires a fellowship. Novant doesn't use the national fellowship timeline.

Is the GPA a Hard Cutoff?
No GPA is published for any student program, and work authorization isn't stated either. The Investments Intern posting asks for coursework in finance or quantitative fields and names Python and R, so a transcript and a project carry the application. Email the program contacts if you need clarity on either point.
What Skills Does Novant Health Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Only one business-side posting is open, so a skill-frequency chart would be one posting's wording. Here is what it says.
The Investments Intern researches and analyzes data to support senior investment staff, runs portfolio attribution and factor analysis, decomposes portfolio risk, and builds financial models for investment themes and managers. It prefers economics, finance, business administration, applied mathematics, statistics, data engineering or computer science, names Python and R, and lists quantitative data analysis and financial markets knowledge.
Note: Method: full-text read of the 1 business-side internship posting (Investments Intern, req 248183) live on Novant's job site on 26 Oct 2026. One posting is too few to chart skill frequency, so we list what it names instead of counting.
How Is Demand for Finance Interns Moving Right Now?
Finance intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026

For Novant Health applicants: Novant's own job site listed 1 business-side intern requisition among 1,583 openings on 26 October 2026, in investments. Use the market picture to judge how many other employers you're up against, then apply while the posting is open.

Build These Skills Before You Apply
Each skill maps to a remote Externship you can finish while the posting is open.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Financial modeling | Investments Intern: "Construct and run financial models" to assess investment themes and managers | Yinan Zhao Investing & Financial Modeling |
| Investment research and analysis | Investments Intern: "Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on investment strategies" | Mangusta Capital Deal Sourcing & Startup Analysis |
| Project-based work in a health system | Experience Novant Health: "a project-based approach" in identified departments | Healthcare Operations & Consulting |
| Quantitative data analysis | Investments Intern preferred skills: statistical modeling, programming skills (Python, R) and quantitative data analysis | SQL & Database Architecture with Breaking Games |
A finished model or data project gives you something concrete to bring to the recruiter.
What Is the Novant Health Application and Interview Process Like?
Novant publishes little about its process. These are the routes it describes:
1. Investments Intern. Apply through the iCIMS link on the posting. Novant doesn't publish interview steps.
2. Experience Novant Health. Email PaidPrograms@NovantHealth.org. The page says the program places interns in identified departments for extended learning experiences.
3. Pharmacy. Email PharmacyEducationalPrograms@NovantHealth.org with your school and year.
4. Student Nurse Apprenticeship. Apply any time once you've been admitted to nursing school.
5. Administrative Fellowship (graduate-only). Applicants send a cover letter and supporting documents; the 2026 deadline was 4 September, followed by phone, video and on-site interviews in September and October.
What We Found on Reddit
Nothing we can use. The Novant threads we found are about nursing jobs or clinical counseling placements, not business or student internships. We'd rather show no quotes than borrow an unrelated experience.
How Do You Stand Out for a Novant Health Internship?
Three moves, all doable this month.
Contact the program, not just the job site. Experience Novant Health places interns department by department, so an email that names your major and the kind of project you want gives the team something to act on.
Show quantitative work for the investments posting. It asks for portfolio attribution, risk decomposition and financial models, so a model, a stock pitch or a statistics project is better evidence than a course list.
Resolve the education line. The Investments Intern posting says Medical Office Administration studies are required, which doesn't fit the duties. Ask the recruiter before you rule yourself out.
Novant doesn't publish an intern class size or conversion rate, so there's no number to aim at.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Novant Health internship?
No dated summer 2026 program is published, so there is no closed cohort to chase. What is open on 26 October 2026 is the Investments Intern posting in Charlotte, posted 15 October. Email PaidPrograms@NovantHealth.org about project-based internships, which Novant places by department with no stated deadline.
Does Novant Health have a summer internship program?
Not as one published cycle. Novant lists Experience Novant Health, a project-based program for undergraduate and graduate interns, plus a pharmacy student program and individual postings. None gives summer 2027 dates. The only fixed-window programs we found, the Administrative Fellowship and Child Life Internship, are for graduates and have closed.
Are Novant Health internships paid?
Yes, Novant describes its programs as paid, and its surgical technology extern posting says the role isn't benefits-eligible. Novant publishes no hourly rate on its student program pages or on the Investments Intern posting, so we can't quote a figure. Ask the recruiter or program contact for the rate.
Where are Novant Health internships located?
Novant operates in North Carolina and South Carolina. The Investments Intern is on site in Charlotte, and the posting asks candidates to be local to the area. Pharmacy interns can work at any Novant acute-care hospital in North Carolina, and the surgical technology extern posting is in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Can graduate students apply for Novant Health internships?
Yes. Experience Novant Health accepts graduate interns, and Novant describes it as designed for undergraduate and graduate students. The Administrative Fellowship is graduate-only and closed on 4 September 2026 for a start in early July 2027. Check the program page for next year's deadline around the same time.
Does Novant Health have an IT internship?
Not that we can confirm. Archived copies of Novant's paid internships page through December 2025 mentioned a year-round part-time IT student team member program, but the current page doesn't list it. Email PaidPrograms@NovantHealth.org to ask whether IT placements are still available through Experience Novant Health.
Does Novant Health hire interns full time?
Novant publishes no conversion rate or return-offer language for its internships, so we can't give a figure. Business interns should ask the hiring team directly whether the Investments Intern posting or an Experience Novant Health placement can lead to a full-time role.
What about nursing students at Novant Health?
Nursing students have clinical programs. The Student Nurse Apprenticeship takes certified nursing assistant students once they're admitted to an accredited nursing program, and applications are open at any time. The RN New Grad Residency Summer 2027 cohort, posted 12 October 2026, is for graduates in May or June 2027.
Novant's one open business internship has no deadline and can come down once it's filled. Apply now, email the program team, and build proof while you wait: a remote Externship gives you a finished project to describe.
