NFI has been owned by the Brown family since Israel Brown started it with one gravel truck out of Vineland, New Jersey in 1932. Four generations later it is a $3.8 billion third-party logistics provider run from the TRIAD1828 Centre at 2 Cooper Street in Camden. NFI employs 17,000 associates, owns and operates over 70 million square feet of warehouse space, and runs a fleet of more than 5,100 tractors and 13,000 trailers. It placed #5 among North American Warehousing 3PLs in Armstrong & Associates' 2026 rankings. For a student, the distinctive thing about NFI is the structure: the company runs explicit internship lanes (Corporate and Operations) that feed explicit post-graduation rotational trainee programs in Operations, Sales, IT, and Engineering, and its own careers site names the exact job titles each program leads to. One live intern requisition, Supply Chain Engineering Intern in Rincon, Georgia (near the Port of Savannah), was posted August 12, 2026 and is open now with no deadline.

What Is a NFI Industries Internship?

An NFI Industries internship is a paid placement at a $3.8 billion, family-owned third-party logistics provider that has been run by the Brown family since 1932 out of Camden, New Jersey. NFI's early-career programs offer two internship lanes: Corporate (Finance, Accounting, HR, Brokerage, Marketing, Fleet, Real Estate, IT) and Operations (inbound, outbound, VAS, shipping, inventory control, dispatching). Each lane feeds a specific post-graduation trainee program, and each trainee program leads to named job titles. NFI operates over 70 million square feet of warehouse space, a fleet of 5,100+ tractors and 13,000 trailers, and has surpassed 10 million zero-emission miles across its Class 8 fleet.

When Do NFI Industries Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

NFI is a rolling, site-driven recruiter, not a cohort recruiter. The one live intern requisition went up in mid-August 2026 for a single distribution center in Georgia. Additional Corporate and Operations intern requisitions are expected through the fall and winter as sites request them, but NFI publishes no calendar, no batch posting date, and no deadline. The trainee programs (Operations, Sales, IT, Engineering) run continuously with standing apply links on the early-career page.

One intern requisition is live: Supply Chain Engineering Intern in Rincon, Georgia (near the Port of Savannah), posted August 12, 2026. Search the literal word "intern" on careers.nfiindustries.com. The same role appears on RippleMatch under the title "Supply Chain Engineering Intern."

The Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy Externship builds the operational analytics evidence the NFI intern requisition asks for.
Fall 2026 – Spring 2027EXPECTED

Additional Corporate and Operations intern requisitions expected to post site-by-site, on no published schedule. Set alerts on both careers.nfiindustries.com and RippleMatch and check monthly.

Post-graduation (continuous)

Four trainee programs run continuously: Operations (5–6 months), Sales (5–6 months), IT (3–4 months), and Engineering (1 year). All are paid and benefits-eligible, with standing Apply links on the early-career page.

Summer 2027

Internship runs. Operations interns spend time on the warehouse floor, run time studies, build Power BI dashboards, and own a DMAIC continuous-improvement project presented to Operations and Engineering.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

NFI posts intern requisitions site-by-site with no published window and no deadline, which means there is no safe date to wait until. The one live role went up on August 12 and was re-touched on September 2. A student who sets alerts on both careers.nfiindustries.com and RippleMatch and checks monthly is positioned before most applicants know the postings exist. The two-board, two-title search trap makes this worse: the iCIMS board titles the role simply "Intern," while RippleMatch calls it "Supply Chain Engineering Intern." A student searching the more descriptive title on NFI's own board finds nothing. Early awareness of both boards and both titles is the edge.

Which NFI Industries Internship Programs Should You Target?

NFI runs two internship lanes and four post-graduation trainee programs, organized as a pipeline from student to early-career professional.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

NFI's eligibility criteria come from its one live intern requisition (Supply Chain Engineering, Rincon GA) and the Early Career Programs page.

Class year: current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree. Open to current master's candidates pursuing an Industrial Engineering major.

Major (live req): Industrial Engineering preferred. The Corporate lane departments span Finance, Accounting, HR, Brokerage, Marketing, Fleet, Real Estate, and IT but publish no major requirements.

Software: experience with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required. AutoCAD or similar software preferred. The req also names Power BI, LMS data, Workstudy, and generative AI (specifically Gemini).

Communication: excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills.

GPA: not published. NFI states no GPA minimum on its careers site or in the live requisition.

Work authorization: not stated. NFI publishes no sponsorship or work-authorization policy for interns.

Does NFI Require a Minimum GPA?

No published GPA requirement exists for NFI internships. The live requisition and the Early Career Programs page are both silent on GPA. NFI screens on major, software skills, and practical capability rather than on a GPA threshold.

What Skills Does NFI Industries Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

NFI's live intern requisition is unusually specific about tools and tasks. The intern will work on the warehouse floor weekly, run time studies in Workstudy, build Power BI dashboards for continuous-improvement reporting, analyze Labor Management System data to find productivity gaps, participate in Lean ONE events, own a CI project through the DMAIC process, write standard operating procedures, update AutoCAD site drawings, and integrate generative AI tools (specifically Gemini) to automate routine tasks. The trainee programs add SQL, Python, 3G/Navitrace, and Six Sigma. This is an engineering internship where floor-level operational literacy and tool-specific proficiency are both stated requirements.

How Is Demand for Logistics & Supply Chain Interns Moving Right Now?

Logistics & supply chain intern hiring right now: September 2026

Across US logistics and supply chain intern postings tracked this week · aggregate market data, all employers

=
3PL internships remain steady as the large contract logistics firms maintain campus pipelines alongside ongoing e-commerce demand
AI and automation skills carry a premium: NFI's own intern requisition names Gemini by name, and Power BI and LMS data analysis are core tasks, not nice-to-haves
Sustainability is a hiring differentiator: NFI surpassed 10 million zero-emission Class 8 miles, and supply chain engineering roles increasingly touch fleet electrification and environmental metrics

September 2026 is this tracker's baseline month. The 3PL segment hires engineering interns site-by-site on no standard calendar, so early alert-setting and monthly board checks are the practical strategy.

Method: qualitative assessment of US logistics and supply chain intern postings, September 2026 baseline. Not a statistical sample.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

And every skill in the requisition maps to a remote Externship where you finish a real company project before the next posting appears.

NFI's intern requisition names Power BI, LMS data analysis, and generative AI as core tasks, and its trainee programs name SQL and Python. A student who arrives having already done an operational-analytics project has evidence for the exact three things NFI asks about, and because NFI posts intern roles on no schedule, can build that evidence while waiting for a requisition to appear.

What Is the NFI Industries Application and Interview Process Like?

NFI does not publish its intern interview process. What is documented:

1. Apply at careers.nfiindustries.com searching the literal keyword "intern" (NFI titles the role simply "Intern"). Applications route through iCIMS. The role is also LinkedIn Easy Apply enabled.

2. Also check RippleMatch, where NFI runs a branded employer page and lists the same role under the more searchable title "Supply Chain Engineering Intern."

3. Join the Talent Community on NFI's careers site for email alerts when new intern requisitions post.

4. Interview process: not published at the intern level. Indeed hosts a community Q&A on NFI's interview process (20 answers, not intern-specific). Prepare for behavioral questions about initiative, teamwork, and process improvement based on the requisition's emphasis on DMAIC, Lean, and self-direction.

5. Outcome: NFI names the next step for each intern lane. Corporate interns are pointed at Rotational Trainee roles; Operations interns at Supply Chain Operations Trainee roles.

Because NFI publishes no interview process detail, the strongest preparation is knowing the tools the requisition names (Power BI, Workstudy, AutoCAD, DMAIC, Gemini) and having a concrete example of measuring something and improving it. Our HireVue question guide with a free AI mock tool covers the behavioral-question format most logistics employers use.

What NFI Interns Say

Reddit has no usable NFI internship discussion. The cards below draw on dated, role-labelled Indeed intern reviews. NFI responded publicly to two of the three.

A 2023 intern in the Dallas-Fort Worth area described the atmosphere as fast-paced but laid back, and said they felt very supported as an intern. NFI responded by name within a week, which is consistent with the company's Engaged Employer status on Glassdoor.

The headquarters internship is described as a structured program rather than a single assignment. A Camden intern in 2019 called it one of the best internship programs and said the point was learning the whole company, not just your own task. Pretty decent pay, with a large focus on cooperation.

The freight brokerage lane is real intern work, not shadowing. A Cherry Hill intern spent the term brokering freight for what they called a top logistics company and learned the ins and outs of a typical office job. Brokerage is one of the departments NFI still names in its Corporate internship lane.

How Do You Stand Out at a Family-Owned 3PL That Posts Intern Roles on No Schedule?

Five moves. First, search the literal word "intern" on careers.nfiindustries.com, because NFI titles the role just "Intern" and a more specific search will miss it. Second, check RippleMatch too, where the same role appears as "Supply Chain Engineering Intern," two boards with two titles for one job. Third, say you want to be on the floor. The requisition's framing is unambiguous: you will spend time on the warehouse floor to understand the how and why of the supply chain. A candidate who signals they want a desk job in a distribution engineering role is signaling the wrong thing. Fourth, bring DMAIC and bring one story where you measured something. The intern's owned project follows Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control explicitly and is presented to Operations and Engineering. Any time study, before-and-after productivity number, or Lean project from coursework or a campus job is directly the currency. Fifth, mention generative AI. NFI's own intern requisition asks for the ability to integrate generative AI tools, specifically Gemini, to automate routine tasks. Having a concrete example of automating something with an LLM is a stated requirement.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 NFI internship?

No. The next open cycle is summer 2027, and NFI posts intern requisitions site by site with no published window. As of September 7, 2026, one intern requisition was live (Supply Chain Engineering in Rincon, Georgia, posted August 12), and additional Corporate and Operations postings are expected through the fall and winter.

Is there an application deadline?

No. NFI's requisition and its early-careers page carry no deadline. If a job aggregator shows a closing date for an NFI intern posting, that is the aggregator's own expiry, not NFI's.

How much do NFI interns get paid?

NFI states its internships are paid but does not publish a rate, and the live requisition has no pay range. Indeed has no salary sample for the Intern title at NFI. There is no verified NFI intern pay figure. One 2019 intern review from Camden describes the pay as pretty decent.

What do NFI interns actually do?

The live requisition is unusually specific. An engineering intern works warehouse operations weekly, runs time studies in Workstudy, learns Power BI for continuous-improvement reporting, analyzes Labor Management System data to find productivity gaps, participates in Lean ONE events, owns a CI project through the DMAIC process and presents it, writes standard operating procedures, updates AutoCAD site drawings, and uses generative AI tools (specifically Gemini) to automate routine tasks.

What happens after the internship?

NFI names the next step for each lane. Corporate interns are pointed at Rotational Trainee roles; Operations interns at Supply Chain Operations Trainee roles. Those trainee programs are paid and benefits-eligible and run 3 to 12 months, each leading to a named job title: Supply Chain Engineer, Business Analyst, Warehouse Operations Supervisor, Sales Executive, and others. NFI does not publish a conversion rate but does feature six named employees who came in as interns or trainees.

Where are NFI internships located?

Corporate internships are at NFI's Camden NJ headquarters, Schaumburg IL, Chino CA, or Irving TX. Operations internships are at distribution centers across the network. The currently live role is at 1200 Logistics Parkway in Rincon, Georgia, near the Port of Savannah. NFI's broader footprint spans New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas, Ohio, Florida, and Tennessee.

Why does the same job have two different titles?

NFI titles the role "Intern" on its own iCIMS board and "Supply Chain Engineering Intern" on RippleMatch. Two boards, two titles, one job. If you search only one title on one board, you will miss postings. Search the literal word "intern" on careers.nfiindustries.com and also check NFI's RippleMatch page.

NFI posts intern roles site-by-site on no schedule, so the window is whenever the next req appears. Spend the runway building proof: a remote Externship turns "interested in supply chain engineering" into a finished operational-analytics project an application can point at.
