Moody's opens each summer 2027 internship for about two weeks, and the first wave has mostly closed. Of the 11 US internships Moody's posted between September 10 and 25, 2026, nine closed between September 28 and October 1, including Ratings and Research Support, Sales and Compliance. Five US roles are still open or about to open on Moody's careers site (rechecked October 3, 2026): two from the first wave and three posted on October 2, with windows running to October 16. Every one runs June 7 to August 13, 2027, and pays $35 an hour, or $45 for Analytics & Modeling, per Moody's own postings. In plain words: you apply during 2026, you intern in summer 2027, and at Moody's each window lasts days, not months.

If the role you wanted has closed, the next door is the summer 2028 wave, expected in September 2027.

What Is a Moody's Internship?

A Moody's internship is a paid, 10-week summer program at Moody's Corporation, the credit ratings and risk analytics company headquartered at 7 World Trade Center in New York. Moody's had 16,076 employees at the end of 2025, about 5,000 of them in the US, and its early careers page reports 147 summer interns from 85 schools across 11 countries.

Interns join a specific team for the summer. In the ratings business, the Ratings and Research Support program assigns interns to a rating group such as Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions or Structured Finance. Technology and data interns work largely in Charlotte, while sales, compliance, strategy and people roles sit in New York. Moody's says the program adds "networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events," and interns complete project work set by their team.

When Do Moody's Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Moody's posts summer internships in September, and its early careers page says so: "our summer positions are posted from September." This year, 11 US reqs went up between September 10 and 25, 2026, and a second set of three followed on October 2. Each req opens its own window, usually two weeks, and states the dates in its first line.

From a mid-September posting to a June 7 start, the lead time is about 8.5 to 9 months. Summer 2028 should follow the same pattern: applications for summer 2028 expected in September 2027, each open for about two weeks.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Moody's tells you the window in the first line of every posting, for example "Applications for this position will be accepted from September 14 through September 28," and adds "We encourage interested candidates to apply early to ensure full consideration." Once the window ends, the posting comes down: the Sales and Ratings and Research Support reqs, live a week ago, now return an error page.

That makes this a short-window program in the strictest sense. A student who notices Moody's in mid-October has already missed most of the summer 2027 roles, including the ratings program. The fix is a job alert on Moody's Students & Early Careers category, set now, so the September 2027 wave reaches you on day one.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Moody's US reqs set eligibility per role, so the req you apply to governs:

• Degree level: the program takes "undergraduate and select graduate students." Analytics & Modeling asks for a Master of Science in computer science or a similar field.

• Graduation window: each req names one. Analytics & Modeling, CS&G and People Solutions want May 2028 to June 2029 graduates; Ratings Technology and Digital Workplace take December 2027 to June 2029. This year's Ratings and Research Support req asked for December 2027 to June 2028.

• Majors: vary by team, from computer science and STEM (Ratings Technology) to statistics, economics or data science (CS&G) and HR or organizational psychology (People Solutions).

• Availability: full-time for the whole program, June 7 to August 13, 2027.

• GPA and sponsorship: none of the US reqs we read states a GPA minimum or a sponsorship policy, so ask the recruiter rather than assume either way.

Is the Graduation Window a Hard Cutoff?

Treat it as one. The graduation range is the most specific requirement on each Moody's req, and it's how Moody's separates internship candidates from new-grad hires. A senior graduating in May 2027 falls outside every summer 2027 window we saw. Those students should look at Moody's full-time programs instead: Ratings Associate roles open on a rolling basis, and the Sales Rotation Program opens applications in the fall for a September start.

What Skills Does Moody's Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

We read the five US summer 2027 reqs still open or opening on October 3, 2026. Three themes stand out.

AI tools, used responsibly. All five carry the same line: "Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes," plus a willingness to learn responsible AI practices. The research for this page found the same line on all 11 first-wave US reqs.

Communication and collaboration. All five ask for strong interpersonal or written and verbal communication, and all five describe work with stakeholders or cross-functional teams.

Organized, technical execution. Four ask you to prioritize and stay organized. The technical roles add Python, R, SQL, Power BI and data engineering; the project roles add documentation and status reporting.

For the roles open this month, the SQL and AI projects match most closely. For the ratings program in September 2027, a finished financial modeling or valuation project is the stronger signal.

What Is the Moody's Application and Interview Process Like?

Moody's doesn't describe its interview process publicly. Here's what the reqs say and what past applicants report:

1. Apply inside the window. Each role is its own req on careers.moodys.com, and the application hands off to Moody's SuccessFactors system.

2. Phone screen. A 2021 technology candidate described a typical screen: which programming languages you know and what you want from an internship (community-reported).

3. Final round. A recruiter told a 2020 technology candidate to expect two 30-minute virtual interviews back to back with a five-minute break (community-reported).

4. Offer. Past applicants posted final rounds and offers in early November, roughly six weeks after the September windows.

Ratings candidates should prepare differently. A commenter on a rating-agency interview thread advised reading Moody's public rating methodologies and being ready to give a short credit view of any company using that framework.

How Do You Stand Out for a Moody's Internship?

Moody's reports 147 summer interns worldwide but no applicant count, so there's no honest acceptance rate to quote. What the reqs reward is clear.

First, be early. Each window lasts about two weeks, and Moody's asks candidates to apply early within it. A job alert set now is worth more than any resume polish next September.

Second, have a concrete AI example. Every live US req asks for curiosity about how AI tools improve processes and an awareness of responsible AI. One short story about a tool you used, what it improved and what you checked by hand covers that line well.

Third, match the team. A ratings applicant who can walk through a credit view built on Moody's published methodology stands out; a data applicant should bring SQL or R code; a People Solutions applicant should talk about change and communication. Generic finance interest reads weakly against reqs this specific.

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Moody's internship?

No. Summer 2026 has already run. For summer 2027, nine of Moody's 11 first-wave US roles closed between September 28 and October 1, 2026, but five are open or opening: Ratings Technology to October 6, Digital Workplace and People Solutions to October 9, and two New York analytics roles to October 16.

When do Moody's summer 2027 internship applications close?

Does a Moody's internship lead to a full-time offer?

It can. The Ratings and Research Support posting says successful interns "may be considered for an offer to join Moody's as a Ratings Associate after graduation." Moody's also runs full-time Tech Rotation and Sales Rotation programs for graduates, but it doesn't publish an intern conversion rate.

I missed the September window. What now?

Check the five US roles still open into mid-October first. If none fits, summer 2027 at Moody's is effectively closed for you; the summer 2028 roles are expected in September 2027, each open for about two weeks. Graduating seniors can look at Ratings Associate roles, which Moody's fills on a rolling basis.

If a live role fits, apply before its window closes. If not, set a Moody's job alert today and use the year before September 2027 to build proof: a remote Externship gives you a finished data or financial modeling project to point at on day one of the next wave.
