Macquarie's US program page says applications "open in August," which describes only the second wave. For summer 2027, US recruiting started in January 2026 (a third-party tracker lists 5 January, and Macquarie's LinkedIn post announcing it dates to 16 January), and asset management and commodities reqs from that wave closed on 16 February 2026. The August wave followed: front-office reqs closed on 14 September, Risk Management's Houston credit role on 30 September, and Financial Management closes on 12 October. The Technology internship is the late outlier, posted 29 September with a 21 December close. With one dated cycle per wave, the summer 2028 projections are moderate confidence: for summer 2028, expect a first wave around January to mid-February 2027 and a main wave from late July to September 2027.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Macquarie's urgency is a hard close on every req, plus rolling review before it. Each US posting states its own closing date, and each says "We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible as we recruit on a rolling basis." The summer 2027 calendar shows how quickly the front office goes: reqs posted on 3 August 2026 had closed by 14 September, about six weeks later, and the January-wave reqs ran about a month.

The bigger risk is the timing assumption. A student who reads "applications open in August" and waits will miss the January wave, and one who applies in October will find only Financial Management and Technology left. Treat January and August as two separate windows.

Toronto, Calgary and London "2027 Summer Internship" reqs are still live with October dates, but they're separate non-US programs, so their deadlines don't apply to US applicants.

• Class year: undergraduates heading into their penultimate year. The summer 2027 reqs specify graduation between December 2027 and June 2028; for summer 2028, expect that window to move forward a year.

• Business tracks: strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and "experience and comfort in Excel." Financial Management adds coursework in accounting, economics or finance.

• Technology: coding experience in Python, Java, C# or similar, or study in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information systems or data science.

• GPA: not stated on any US summer 2027 req we read.

• Sponsorship: not stated either way on the US reqs. Ask the recruiter early if you'll need it.

Is There a GPA Cutoff?

Macquarie doesn't publish one. None of the eight US summer 2027 postings we read lists a minimum GPA, which is less common at banks that hire into IB and markets roles. The bar shows up elsewhere: every business-track posting asks for numerical skill, attention to detail and Excel, and Financial Management wants relevant coursework. What Is the Macquarie Application and Interview Process Like?
