Loop Capital's summer 2027 internships are open now. On October 12, 2026, the firm's careers board listed nine "2027 Summer Intern" postings: corporate investment banking, public finance, equity research, municipal sales and trading, taxable sales and trading, asset management, consulting services, information technology, and legal and compliance. Every posting gives the same program dates, June 7 to August 13, 2027. Eight of them post $22.00 to $30.00 an hour, and the legal role for first-year law students posts $40.00 to $45.00. In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, you intern in summer 2027.

None of the nine states a deadline, and each lists a single opening. The board's record timestamps show the postings were created in mid-August 2026, about 10 months before the start date, so this window has already been open for roughly two months. Sophomores can apply too. The undergraduate postings ask for a "rising college Junior or Senior in Summer of 2027," which is wider than most banks allow.

What Is a Loop Capital Internship?

A Loop Capital internship is a paid, ten-week summer program at Loop Capital, a full-service investment bank, brokerage and advisory firm founded in Chicago in 1997. You apply to one division, such as corporate investment banking, public finance, sales and trading or equity research, and work inside that team from June to mid-August. The firm's internship page calls it "an annual ten-week program offering technical and financial positions to undergraduate and graduate students." Its program brochure adds weekly workshops, outings to professional events and "a final presentation to senior management," and counts "over 250 professionals in over 20 offices." Vault ranks the firm #12 on its Banking 25 for 2026, where it's listed under its broker-dealer name, Loop Capital Markets. The firm also partners with the Chicago Scholars Foundation on internships and career access. What Loop Capital doesn't publish is a class size, an applicant count or a return-offer rate, so this page leaves those out.

When Do Loop Capital Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Loop Capital hires on a calendar that's short for banking. The nine summer 2027 postings were created between August 10 and 20, 2026, according to the timestamps in the board's records, about 10 months before the June 7, 2027 start. Treat those dates as the earliest the postings could have gone public. The cycle before looked the same: the summer 2026 brochure is dated August 20, 2025, and a candidate on Wall Street Oasis reports interviewing for a summer 2026 equity research seat in December 2025 (community-reported). So applications for summer 2028 are expected around mid to late August 2027. One caution: the firm's internship page still mentions the "Summer 2026 program," but the board under it carries only 2027 postings.

Applications for summer 2028 are expected to open, based on the August timing of the summer 2026 and summer 2027 cycles.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

At Loop Capital the urgency comes from rolling hiring, not from a closing date. None of the nine summer 2027 postings states a deadline, so nothing tells you when a track is about to disappear. Each posting also shows "# of Openings: 1." That's a field in the job board, not a statement about class size, and several postings cover both Chicago and New York. Still, it signals small teams hiring a handful of interns per division. The postings have been up since mid-August, and interviews in the previous cycle were reported as late as December. If you're reading this in October, you aren't early. Apply now, and when summer 2028 postings appear around August 2027, apply in the first week.

Which Loop Capital Internship Programs Should You Target?

Loop Capital hires by division, so you choose a track when you apply. All nine are open for summer 2027.

Every track sits on the same careers board. The firm's program page describes the divisions in more depth.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

The nine summer 2027 postings and the firm's summer 2026 brochure set these rules:

• Class year: the eight undergraduate-track postings ask for "Enrollment as a rising college Junior or Senior in Summer of 2027 with a record of high academic achievement." That covers current sophomores and juniors.

• Law students: Legal & Compliance is "for 1L students only," with at least a B average at the end of 1L year and high grades in legal writing.

• Major: asset management wants "a financial or mathematical discipline"; consulting services wants accounting or finance. Other postings name no major.

• Work authorization: the summer 2026 brochure required a "U.S. Citizen or student authorized to work in the U.S." The 2027 postings don't restate it and don't mention sponsorship.

• Materials: the brochure asks for a resume, a cover letter and your latest transcripts.

• Location: in person in Chicago, New York or Miami, depending on the track.

Is There a GPA Cutoff at Loop Capital?

No number is published. The undergraduate postings say "a record of high academic achievement," and the brochure asks for transcripts, so grades are read even without a stated floor. The one hard number is in the legal posting, which requires a B average after 1L year. If your GPA is your weak spot, the cover letter and the division-specific interview are where you make the case.

What Skills Does Loop Capital Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

We read all nine summer 2027 postings in full. Three groups of skills come up. Communication and office tools: eight postings ask for strong written and verbal communication, and seven name the Microsoft Office Suite, with equity research singling out Excel. Quantitative and research work: seven describe research duties, and six ask for a quantitative or math background. Public finance spells it out as "probability and statistical inference, algebra, discounted cash flows and accounting principles." Finance tools and methods: four mention valuation, modeling or discounted cash flows, and four name a market data platform, Bloomberg or FactSet. What Is the Loop Capital Application and Interview Process Like?

Loop Capital's brochure lays out four steps. Candidate reports on Wall Street Oasis fill in the interviews (community-reported).

1. Read the track descriptions. Each division's duties are on the careers board and the program page. Pick one.

2. Apply to that division's posting. The brochure asks for a resume, a cover letter and your latest transcripts.

3. Interview with the team. In the firm's words, "Identified candidates will be invited to interview with their potential team and supervisors." An equity research candidate described two rounds of 20 to 30 minutes, first HR and then the Head of Equities, with a stock pitch and a "Why Loop" question.

4. Track-specific questions. An older public finance report describes a phone round and then an onsite with four team members on why public finance, bond valuations and the markets.

5. Offer by email. The brochure says selected candidates are notified by email. No timeline is published.

What Candidates Say on Wall Street Oasis and Vault

Reddit has no first-hand threads about Loop Capital internships, so these cards use dated interview reports on Wall Street Oasis and intern comments from Vault's survey.

An equity research summer intern candidate in New York described two short rounds, HR and then the Head of Equities, about 20 to 30 minutes each. They were asked to pitch a stock and explain why Loop, and accepted an offer.

Interns told Vault they were treated like full-time team members with access to senior people, and that getting up to speed on tasks took time. One named meeting interns from other divisions as the best part.

How Do You Stand Out for a Loop Capital Internship?

Three moves. First, choose one division and write for it. You interview with the team you'd join, so a cover letter that names the division's actual work, refunding analysis for public finance or stock analysis for equity research, does more than a general banking letter. Second, prepare the track's technical ask. Candidates report a stock pitch for equity research and bond valuation questions for public finance. Employees surveyed by Vault list "Walk me through a bond math model" among the firm's interview questions. Third, have a real answer to "Why Loop." Vault describes a firm looking for "open-minded, self-starting team players with entrepreneurial mindsets," and its reviewers say interns do real work. Know the pay before you interview: $22 to $30 an hour is below what larger banks post, and the firm states it openly. Loop Capital publishes no applicant count, class size or conversion rate.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Loop Capital internship?

No. The summer 2026 program has ended. The open door is summer 2027: nine intern postings were live on Loop Capital's careers board on October 12, 2026, covering banking, sales and trading, equity research, asset management, consulting, IT and legal. None states a deadline, so apply to your division now.

When do Loop Capital internship applications open for summer 2027 and summer 2028?

Summer 2027 applications are open now. The board's timestamps show the nine postings were created August 10 to 20, 2026, about 10 months before the June 7, 2027 start. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around mid to late August 2027, based on the same August timing in the previous cycle.

Does Loop Capital hire interns on a rolling basis?

Yes, in practice. None of the nine summer 2027 postings states a deadline, and each lists a single opening, so a track can come down whenever its seat fills. A candidate in the previous cycle reported interviewing in December, which suggests hiring runs through the fall. Don't wait for a closing date.

How much do Loop Capital interns make?

Loop Capital prints pay on each posting. Eight of the nine summer 2027 roles state $22.00 to $30.00 an hour, and the Legal & Compliance role for first-year law students states $40.00 to $45.00. Over a 40-hour week for ten weeks, the undergraduate range works out to about $8,800 to $12,000 before tax.

Who is eligible for a Loop Capital internship?

Rising college juniors or seniors in summer 2027 with a record of high academic achievement, according to the eight undergraduate-track postings. That includes current sophomores. The legal role takes 1L law students only. The summer 2026 brochure also required US citizenship or US work authorization, and no numeric GPA floor is published.

What is the Loop Capital interview process like?

The firm says identified candidates interview with their potential team and supervisors. On Wall Street Oasis, an equity research candidate reported two rounds of 20 to 30 minutes, HR and then the Head of Equities, with a stock pitch and a "Why Loop" question. Public finance candidates report bond valuation questions. These are community-reported.

Where are Loop Capital internships located?

Chicago, New York and Miami. Most summer 2027 tracks are posted for Chicago and New York, asset management is in Miami, and consulting services and legal and compliance are Chicago only. The firm has more than 20 offices, but its internship postings cover only these three. The program is in person.

Do Loop Capital interns get full-time offers?

Loop Capital doesn't publish a return-offer rate. Its internship page says the program gives students experience that "can assist them in acquiring a full-time position in the industry," which isn't a promise of an offer. Interns in Vault's survey say they were treated like full-time team members. Ask about conversion in your interview.

Loop Capital's nine summer 2027 tracks are open now with no stated deadline. Apply this month, and bring a project you can explain: a remote Externship gives you finished modeling or deal-research work for the interview.
