Last updated: October 2026
Lincoln Electric's summer 2027 internships are already open. On 3 October 2026 its own careers board listed 21 Summer 2027 internship requisitions and 4 Spring 2027 co-ops at US sites, and not one of them states a closing date. Every summer req carries the same fixed program dates: 25 May to 6 August 2027, an 11-week internship.
In plain words: you apply during fall 2026, and you intern in summer 2027. If you can take a spring term off, the four co-ops that start on 12 January 2027 are the nearer door. Lincoln Electric is the Cleveland welding, cutting and automation manufacturer founded in 1895, with 2025 net sales of $4.23 billion and about 12,000 employees, and it says it uses its internships and co-ops "as a means to hire" for its full-time Development Programs.

The summer 2027 wave went up between late August and September 2026, and all 29 student reqs were still live on 3 October. None has a deadline, so applications are reviewed while seats are still open. Apply to the specific site req, not to the company in general.
Lincoln Electric's internships run from controls engineering to supply chain and IT, and a finished project gives you something concrete to talk about in any of them. Externships are short, remote programs where you complete a real project for a real company, most commonly over 8 weeks. The Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense Externship fits the IT track's smart factory and cybersecurity projects, and the Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics Externship fits supply chain and operations roles. What Is a Lincoln Electric Internship?
A Lincoln Electric internship is an 11-week paid summer placement at one of the company's US sites, working on real engineering, sales or business projects for a maker of welding, cutting and automation equipment. Lincoln's Co-op and Internship Programs page says the programs are offered in the United States only. The summer 2027 reqs pair each intern with a "LincPal" mentor, add workshops and National Intern Day, and on several Euclid and sales reqs include welding training at the Welding Technology Center. One board covers the parent company and acquired units, so a req might place you at Fori Automation in Michigan, RedViking in Plymouth, Vanair in Indiana or Harris Products Group in Georgia. Lincoln operates 71 manufacturing and automation facilities in 20 countries, and its Student & Grad Jobs page states that it uses internships and co-ops "as a means to hire candidates for our full-time Development Programs."

When Do Lincoln Electric Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?
Lincoln Electric posts its summer wave in late summer and lets it trickle in for two to three months. The front edge moved from 18 July 2024 (summer 2025) to 25 August 2025 (summer 2026) to 31 August 2026 (summer 2027), which makes the calendar stable enough to project. Applications for summer 2027 opened about 9 months before the 25 May 2027 start, and the spring co-ops posted about 4 months before their 12 January start. The one track not yet posted is the Fall 2027 co-op: last cycle's fall co-op req went up on 8 November 2025, so applications for the fall 2027 co-op are expected around November 2026.
Applications are open right now: 21 summer 2027 internships, 4 spring 2027 co-ops and 4 local intern roles in Fort Collins, CO and Coldwater, OH, all live on 3 October with no closing date. Last cycle's summer 2026 reqs now say "no longer accepting applications".
The best weeks to apply for summer 2027. The reqs are rolling, so applications go into review while every seat is still open. Spring 2027 co-ops have to be filled before their 12 January start, so expect them to close first.
Applications for the fall 2027 co-op are expected, based on the fall 2026 co-op req posted on 8 November 2025. Summer 2027 reqs stay up until filled.
Spring 2027 co-ops run 12 January to 16 April 2027 in Euclid, Plymouth and Houston. Summer 2027 reqs are expected to close one by one as they fill.
The internship runs 25 May to 6 August 2027, with an Immersion Day at Cleveland HQ in the first weeks for some tracks. Interns may be considered for full-time Development Programs. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around July to September 2027.
How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.
Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open
Lincoln Electric's reqs are rolling: none of the 29 live student reqs states a deadline, and nothing on the board says when they'll come down. The summer 2026 reqs are now closed with no published close date, so the only safe reading is that a seat can go at any point once a site has the intern it wants. Each req is one function at one site, often with a single seat, which makes the first few weeks of a wave the strongest time to be in the pile. The spring co-ops have a harder clock still, because a 12 January start leaves only a few weeks for interviews and offers after Thanksgiving.
Which Lincoln Electric Internship Programs Should You Target?
Lincoln posts one req per function per site, so the same track can appear four or five times under different facilities. These are the groups live on 3 October 2026.
| Track | Focus | Dates | Where / key details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering (mechanical, electrical, controls) | Design specs, assembly drawings, prototype testing, safety controls for industrial machinery | 25 May to 6 Aug 2027 | Euclid OH; Shelby Township and Plymouth MI; Michigan City IN; Bettendorf IA; Gainesville GA |
| Technical Sales | Distributor and end-user visits, hands-on welding demos, 2 to 3 sales projects | 25 May to 6 Aug 2027 | Up to 10 US sales hubs; 2.8 GPA preferred; travel required |

| EHS & Sustainability | Environmental, health and safety programs at plant level | 25 May to 6 Aug 2027 | Euclid OH; Shelby Township MI |
| Spring 2027 co-ops | Engineering, mechanical, controls and technical sales work for a full term | 12 Jan to 16 Apr 2027 | Euclid OH; Plymouth MI; Houston TX |

Browse every live req on the Student & Grad Jobs page. The new-grad Development Programs sit on the same page but are full-time roles, not internships.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
Lincoln's bars are set per req, but most of the 29 live student reqs share the same core lines:
• Enrollment: currently pursuing a bachelor's degree (engineering for the engineering tracks; STEM or business for IT and Technical Sales). The Fort Collins roles accept students in robotics, mechatronics, electrical or manufacturing technology programs.
• GPA: "Minimum overall GPA of 3.0" is listed as preferred on most reqs, 2.8 on Technical Sales. The Gainesville (Harris Products) req makes 3.0 a basic qualification.
• Work authorization: 23 of the 29 reqs say you must be eligible to work in the U.S. "on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship". No intern req carries citizenship or export-control language.
• Class year: Technical Sales prefers sophomore status or higher; Market Intelligence prefers a December 2028 or May 2029 graduation date.
• Location: all roles are on site. Local candidates are preferred, and a temporary housing stipend may be available if you live outside the area.

Is the 3.0 GPA a Hard Cutoff?
Mostly not. On almost every summer 2027 req the 3.0 sits under Preferred Qualifications, which means a strong project or hands-on record can still get you a look. The exception is the Gainesville mechanical engineering req at Harris Products Group, which lists 3.0 as a basic qualification. Technical Sales is lower at 2.8. If you're under 3.0, put your shop, lab or club work near the top of your resume.
What Skills Does Lincoln Electric Look For, and How Do You Build Them?
Three themes run through the 29 live student reqs. Shop-floor readiness: reqs ask for "interest in working in a manufacturing environment", the ability to read technical drawings and schematics, and on the automation sites familiarity with OSHA and ANSI (RIA) safety standards. Hands-on engineering: prototype testing, troubleshooting and, at Fort Collins, ABB and FANUC robot integration plus GMAW and GTAW welding familiarity. Business analysis: the finance, supply chain, market intelligence and product management reqs ask for Excel, competitor research, supplier analysis and dashboards.

How Is Demand for Engineering Interns Moving Right Now?
Mechanical engineering intern postings · Sep vs Aug 2026
vs 207 in August
Lincoln Electric posted on the same fall clock as the rest of the engineering market, so the competition for its seats is happening now, not in spring.
Daily US job-posting counts, Sep 1–30 vs Aug 1–31, 2026. Covers under half of US postings; shows direction, not market size. Pay = median of employer-published ranges only (87 postings in September, 36 in August).
Build These Skills Before You Apply
Lincoln's business-side reqs list concrete projects, and each maps to a remote Externship you can finish before your interviews.
| Skill (from real JDs) | JD evidence | Externship that builds it |
|---|---|---|
| Supply chain analysis | Supply Chain: "Analyze supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost reduction and lead time improvements" | Amazon Fulfillment Center Operational Strategy & People Analytics |
| Financial reporting & analysis | Finance & Accounting: "preparing financial reports that highlight key performance metrics, trends, and variances" | Attronica Financial Planning & Analysis |
| Smart factory & cybersecurity | Information Technology: "Smart Factory / Industry 4.0 solutions" and "Data Privacy and Cyber-Security Initiatives" | Hydroficient IoT Cyber Defense |
| Market & customer research | Market Intelligence: "secondary research on markets, customers, competitors, and industry trends" | Consumer Behavior Insights with Generous Brands |
| Product management | Product Management: "Draft user stories, define acceptance criteria, and outline feature requirements" | BeReal Product Management |
For the engineering tracks, the strongest proof is still hands-on: a lab, a Formula SAE or Baja build, or any project where you read drawings and tested a prototype.
What Is the Lincoln Electric Application and Interview Process Like?
Lincoln Electric doesn't publish its interview format, so this is what the reqs and program pages do document:
1. Pick the site req. Each function is posted separately for each facility, and several sites belong to acquired units (Fori Automation, RedViking, Vanair, Harris Products Group). Know which business you're applying to.
2. Apply on jobs.lincolnelectric.com. Use the Student & Grad Jobs category. Handshake carries copies of some reqs, but the company board is the source.
3. Basic-qualification screen. Most reqs list enrollment and US work authorization without sponsorship as basic qualifications, so those are checked first.
4. Interviews. The number and format of rounds aren't published. Ask your recruiter, and prepare to talk through a project where you designed, built or tested something.
5. Offer and Immersion Day. No decision date is published. 13 reqs, mostly at sites outside Cleveland plus Technical Sales, require an Immersion Day at Cleveland HQ in the first few weeks, with travel paid by Lincoln.
What Students on Reddit Say
Reddit discussion of Lincoln Electric internships is thin, and none of it gives intern pay or a conversion rate. These three threads are the most useful.
A student weighing a Lincoln Electric intern offer was told it would be a project-based internship, and advised to ask what past interns worked on. A commenter who was also starting there that summer said the company treats its employees well.
When an engineering sophomore asked about Cleveland internships, commenters pointed to Lincoln Electric's Student & Grad board and warned that the big Cleveland employers do most summer recruiting in the fall, with only some backfill at February career fairs.
In a thread about production jobs (not internships), locals said Lincoln pays a lower base with a large year-end bonus that depends on company results and your rating, and views of the culture were mixed.
How Do You Stand Out for a Lincoln Electric Internship?
Three moves. First, apply to the right site. A controls intern at Fori Automation in Shelby Township designs controls and debugs PLC software for industrial automation equipment, which is a different job from a supply chain seat at the Euclid campus. Name the unit and its work in your cover letter or first interview, because most applicants just write "Lincoln Electric".
Second, show you're comfortable on a plant floor. Sixteen of the 29 reqs ask for interest in a manufacturing environment, and twelve ask you to read drawings or schematics. Lab work, a machine shop course, a welding class or a Baja build all count as proof.
Third, think past the summer. Lincoln says it uses internships and co-ops to hire for its full-time Development Programs, and the summer reqs say eligible interns may be considered for them. It doesn't publish a conversion rate, so treat the internship as a long interview and ask early what the path looks like on your team.

FAQ
Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Lincoln Electric internship?
No. The summer 2026 reqs are closed and now read "no longer accepting applications". What's open is the next cycle: 21 summer 2027 internships running 25 May to 6 August 2027, plus 4 spring 2027 co-ops starting 12 January 2027. None has a deadline, but the reqs are rolling, so apply this fall.
When do Lincoln Electric internship applications open for summer 2027?
They're already open. Applications for summer 2027 went up between late August and September 2026, about 9 months before the 25 May 2027 start. Applications for summer 2028 are expected around July to September 2027, based on the last three cycles, which opened in July 2024, August 2025 and August 2026.
Does Lincoln Electric offer co-ops?
Yes. Four spring 2027 co-ops are open now in Euclid OH, Plymouth MI and Houston TX, running 12 January to 16 April 2027. A fall co-op also runs each year: the fall 2026 req posted on 8 November 2025, so applications for the fall 2027 co-op are expected around November 2026.
How much do Lincoln Electric interns make?
The summer 2027 reqs don't publish pay. Lincoln's local intern reqs do: $21.50 an hour in Fort Collins, Colorado, and a $16 to $24 range in Coldwater, Ohio. A spring 2026 Technical Sales intern req listed $35,360 to $39,520 annualized. Out-of-area summer interns may get a temporary housing stipend.
Does Lincoln Electric sponsor visas for interns?
Generally no. 23 of the 29 live student reqs require eligibility to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship, and the programs are offered in the United States only. The IT and Gainesville reqs omit the sponsorship clause, so ask the recruiter if your status is borderline.
What GPA do I need for a Lincoln Electric internship?
Most reqs prefer a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, and Technical Sales prefers 2.8. On almost all of them it's a preferred qualification, not a basic one. The exception is the Gainesville, Georgia mechanical engineering req with Harris Products Group, which lists a 3.0 GPA as a basic requirement.
What is the Lincoln Electric interview process like?
Lincoln Electric doesn't publish its interview steps. The reqs show a basic-qualification screen on enrollment and work authorization, then interviews whose format varies by site. Prepare to walk through a hands-on project, and ask about past intern projects. Some tracks start with an Immersion Day at Cleveland HQ.
Do Lincoln Electric interns get full-time offers?
Lincoln says it uses its internship and co-op programs as a means to hire for its full-time Development Programs, and the summer reqs say eligible interns may be considered for them. It doesn't publish a conversion rate or an intern class size, so the odds of an offer can't be quantified.
Lincoln Electric's summer 2027 and spring 2027 reqs are live now and rolling. Apply to your site this month, and if you want a finished project to point to in interviews, a remote Externship takes about 5 to 10 hours a week.
