Lamar Advertising doesn't run a summer intern class. The billboard company hires interns one seat at a time, mostly part-time at its Baton Rouge headquarters, and each seat posts only weeks before it starts. Right now two are open on Lamar's own job board: a National Sales Intern posted 14 September 2026 and a Programmatic Intern posted 30 September 2026, both at $15 an hour around your class schedule.

The usual advice doesn't fit. For a summer 2027 seat the plain-words version is: you apply in spring 2027, a few weeks before you'd start, not a year ahead. Lamar is big enough to make that worth watching. Its 2025 annual report counts about 159,300 billboard displays in 45 states and Canada, roughly 5,500 digital billboards and more than 3,500 employees, over 340 of them at headquarters.

Two part-time intern seats are open in Baton Rouge today; there's no deadline and no summer cohort, so the next seat could post any week.

Externships are short, remote programs where you finish a real project for a real company, which is handy when a seat can open with a few weeks' notice. The TikTok Social Media Content & Brand Strategy Externship matches the social and content work in Lamar's marketing intern seats, and the Breaking Games E-Commerce Data Analysis Externship builds the campaign reporting its programmatic and national sales interns do.

What Is a Lamar Advertising Internship?

A Lamar Advertising internship is a paid, usually part-time role in one department of Lamar Advertising Company (NASDAQ: LAMR), the Baton Rouge outdoor advertising company founded in 1902. There's no program page; each seat is its own requisition. In 2026 those seats covered national sales, programmatic advertising, marketing and social media, graphic design and accounting.

The work is the business itself. The National Sales Intern runs monthly sales-activity reports and gathers proof-of-performance photos and webcam shots showing that a campaign ran. The Programmatic Intern helps build network proposals for ad buyers and does post-buy reporting with ad-tech partners. A 2026 Marketing Intern seat handled Lamar's social accounts, PR media lists and email campaigns.

When Do Lamar Advertising Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Lamar has no application season. Seats post when a department needs help and start a few weeks later, a lead time of roughly two weeks to two months, the short end of what we track. In 2026, Marketing Intern postings circulated on university boards from 20 May to 29 July, a Pensacola graphics seat posted 15 July, and the National Sales seat was first seen around 8 July before the current req went up on 14 September.

That history is thin. It comes from one season, mostly through university-board copies that have since expired, so treat every future date here as a rough guide.

Two seats are open right now at Lamar Corporate in Baton Rouge: National Sales Intern (posted 14 September 2026, 10 to 15 hours a week) and Programmatic Intern (posted 30 September 2026). Both pay $15 an hour, carry no deadline and close when filled.

If you can't work in Baton Rouge this semester, build proof for the next seat instead. The TikTok Social Media Content Externship and the Generous Brands Consumer Behavior Insights Externship both run remotely.

Seats can reopen at any time, often under the same title. Check Lamar's board monthly and set a Handshake alert for Lamar Advertising.

April to July 2027EXPECTEDROLLING — APPLY WEEK 1

Seats starting in summer or fall 2027 are expected to post in this window, based on the May to July 2026 postings. Low confidence: only one prior season is dated.

Start date. National Sales interns begin with a two-to-three-week training program; part-time seats fit around classes between 8 am and 5 pm.

Summer 2027

Any summer seat is likely to carry on into the school year: a past accounting intern req described a summer start continuing through fall and spring, full-time in breaks.

How to read this page: our dates come from tracking previous recruiting cycles and daily posting data. Treat them as informed estimates based on historical patterns, not confirmed dates. The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Lamar's intern seats are rolling in the plainest sense: there's no deadline, and a seat closes once someone is hired. Neither live req has a closing date, and Lamar reposts the same titles again and again as seats turn over.

The 17 October 2026 expiry shown on some university career boards is the board's own 30-day auto-expiry from a 16 September listing, not Lamar's deadline. The only signal that matters is whether the req is still on Lamar's board, and the first applicants to a single open seat are the ones who get read first.

Which Lamar Advertising Internship Programs Should You Target?

These are the intern seats Lamar has posted in 2026. Only the first two are open today.

A Creative Marketing Graphic Design seat also ran for the fall 2026 semester. Lamar doesn't publish a program page, so its job board is the only place to see what's live.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Requirements vary by seat. These are the ones Lamar states on its own reqs:

• Enrollment: National Sales asks for "current pursuit of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree," ideally in graphic design, advertising or marketing. Programmatic requires active enrollment in a bachelor's program, with marketing, business analytics, management or information systems preferred.

• Work authorization: "Lamar Advertising does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a work visa." Only candidates with U.S. work authorization that doesn't need sponsorship are considered.

• Location: on-site. Both live seats are at 5321 Corporate Blvd, Baton Rouge, during weekday business hours, so they suit students already studying nearby.

• Assessment: National Sales applicants get an 8 to 15 minute personality assessment after applying, and skipping it "could result in disqualification."

• Track extras: past accounting seats required Intermediate Accounting I and II; graphics seats required a portfolio.

Is There a GPA Cutoff?

No GPA appears on any Lamar intern req we read, live or past. What screens people out instead is practical: being enrolled, living close enough to work on-site part-time, and having U.S. work authorization. For design seats, the portfolio does the work a GPA would elsewhere.

What Skills Does Lamar Advertising Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Lamar's intern reqs read like junior office roles inside a sales company: organized, quick with spreadsheets, comfortable with deadlines. Across the five 2026 seats we could read in full, communication, Office and Google tools, deadline management and reporting each show up in four.

Think in three buckets. Office and data basics: Excel, Google Drive and monthly reports run through national sales, programmatic, marketing and accounting. Communication and coordination: liaising with local markets, ad-tech partners and the press. Creative: Adobe Creative Suite and social media for the marketing and graphics seats.

Build These Skills Before You Apply

Each skill maps to a remote Externship you can finish while you wait for the right seat. None is affiliated with Lamar Advertising.

That matters with a rolling seat, because the req can close before you'd have time to build anything, so the proof has to exist already.

What Is the Lamar Advertising Application and Interview Process Like?

Lamar's process is short. These steps come from its own req text; interview stages aren't described anywhere we found.

1. Search Lamar's job board for intern titles. The board's "intern" search returns dozens of installer and sales jobs, so read titles rather than trusting the count.

2. Apply in UKG (or through Handshake, which mirrors the same reqs).

3. Complete the personality assessment if the req asks for one; National Sales says it takes 8 to 15 minutes.

4. Send a portfolio for design seats; the graphics req wouldn't consider applicants without one.

5. Interview and offer, then a two-to-three-week training program for National Sales interns.

If no intern seat fits, look at Lamar's #EarlyTalent tag. It appears on 38 of the 113 live reqs, mostly full-time coordinator, account executive and installer roles open to new graduates.

What the Community Says

Reddit has no thread about Lamar internships, so these cards mix two Reddit mentions with Lamar intern reviews on Indeed.

Two Lamar interns reviewed the company on Indeed, both at five stars: a Baton Rouge marketing intern in 2014 said they worked across many parts of the marketing department, and a Pensacola design intern in 2020 called the team kind and creative and recommended a design seat.

Asked which Baton Rouge employers pay decently, one local commenter in January 2026 pointed to Lamar's headquarters as a relaxed place to work, if a little less so lately, as long as you can find an open role.

A new graduate applying for a TV sales coordinator role in January 2026 leaned on their experience as a Lamar sales and campaign coordinator, a sign the entry-level role carries over into other ad-sales jobs.

How Do You Stand Out for a Lamar Advertising Internship?

Lamar doesn't publish applicant numbers or a class size, and with one or two seats open at a time there's no cohort to compare against. Fit and timing decide it.

First, be local and available. Both live seats are on-site in Baton Rouge on weekdays, so say exactly which hours you can work around classes.

Second, show the skill the seat names. Sales and programmatic seats want clean spreadsheets and reports; bring one. Design seats want billboard-style work: short copy, big shapes, strong contrast that reads in a few seconds.

Finally, don't stop at interns. If you're graduating, the Sales and Campaign Coordinator and Sales Account Executive reqs are where Lamar hires new graduates in volume.

FAQ

Can I still apply for a summer 2026 Lamar Advertising internship?

No. Summer 2026 seats have closed. What's open now are two part-time seats at Lamar Corporate in Baton Rouge: National Sales Intern, posted 14 September 2026, and Programmatic Intern, posted 30 September 2026. Both pay $15 an hour, fit around classes and close when filled rather than on a set deadline.

Does Lamar Advertising have a summer 2027 internship program?

Not a structured one. Lamar hires interns one seat at a time, mostly part-time in Baton Rouge, and posts each seat a few weeks before it starts. Based on 2026, seats starting in summer or fall 2027 are most likely to post between April and July 2027, though that estimate rests on one season.

Is there an application deadline?

No. Lamar's intern reqs carry no closing date and come down once a seat is filled. Expiry dates on university career boards, such as 17 October 2026 for the National Sales seat, are those boards' own 30-day auto-expiry. Check whether the req is still on Lamar's board instead.

How much do Lamar Advertising interns make?

Both live seats pay $15 an hour, and every 2026 Lamar intern req we read paid the same, with a past accounting seat at $15 to $16. Hours vary a lot: 10 to 15 a week for National Sales, about 20 for accounting and graphics, and 30 to 39 for the 2026 Marketing Intern.

Does Lamar sponsor visas for interns?

No. Every Lamar req we read, including both live intern seats, says the company does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a work visa, and only candidates with U.S. work authorization that doesn't require sponsorship will be considered. International students who'd need sponsorship can't apply.

Is there a GPA requirement for Lamar internships?

No GPA appears on any Lamar intern req we read. National Sales asks for current enrollment in an associate's or bachelor's program, Programmatic for a bachelor's program. Accounting seats have required Intermediate Accounting I and II, and graphics seats a portfolio, which matter more than grades for those roles.

What is the Lamar Advertising application process?

Apply through Lamar's UKG job board or Handshake, then complete any assessment the req asks for: the National Sales seat sends an 8 to 15 minute personality assessment and says skipping it could disqualify you. Design seats need a portfolio. National Sales hires then start with two to three weeks of training.

Do Lamar interns get full-time offers?

Lamar doesn't publish a conversion rate or intern class size. Its entry-level hiring runs through full-time Sales and Campaign Coordinator and Sales Account Executive roles, with 33 of those live on 3 October 2026, and the annual report counts about 1,000 local account executives.

Lamar seats post with weeks of notice, not months. Have the proof ready before the next one opens: a remote Externship gives a sales, marketing or design application a finished project to show.
