Korn Ferry runs on a later calendar than most consulting firms. Last cycle's US summer internship postings were first archived on January 13, 2026, for a program that ran June 8 to August 14, 2026, which is about five months of lead time. Applications for summer 2027 are therefore expected between December 2026 and mid-January 2027, not this fall. In plain words: you apply this winter, you intern in summer 2027.

A Korn Ferry internship is a 10-week summer placement in the firm's executive search and consulting businesses, part of what it calls its Global Internship Program for "undergraduate and graduate students." Interns join a team in one office and, in the program page's words, may take on "market mapping, crafting client presentations, data analysis, or even attending client meetings." Last cycle's New York posting described Korn Ferry as headquartered in Los Angeles, with over 9,000 colleagues serving clients in more than 50 countries across five capabilities: organizational strategy, assessment and succession, talent acquisition, leadership development, and rewards and benefits. One caution: Korn Ferry also recruits for client companies and sells hiring assessments, so a Korn Ferry recruiter email or test for another employer's job isn't this program.

When Do Korn Ferry Internship Applications Open for 2027–2028?

Korn Ferry's US internship calendar is a late one. For summer 2026, the office postings for Atlanta, Chicago and Minneapolis were first archived on January 13, 2026, and New York on January 21, 2026, about five months before the June 8 start. An archive date is the latest the posting could have gone up, so the real date may be a few weeks earlier. Two track-specific Chicago postings followed in February 2026 with deadlines of March 1 and April 30, 2026. Projecting that forward, applications for summer 2027 are expected between December 2026 and mid-January 2027. This rests on one cycle with dated captures, so treat it as medium confidence.

The company's official careers page is always the most current source. If a role is posted there, go by that, even if this page suggests the window hasn't opened yet.

Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Korn Ferry's own wording last cycle was rolling for most students and strict for a few. The office postings had no deadline. Each said "Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis," and the New York posting was still up in mid-March 2026. With no cutoff, seats go to whoever is reviewed first, so an early application sees the most open places. The track postings had firm dates. The Chicago Organization Strategy internship was first archived on February 17, 2026 and closed on March 1, 2026, which left under two weeks from that capture. Neither pattern rewards waiting. For summer 2027, check the board weekly from December and apply the week your office appears.

Which Korn Ferry Internship Programs Should You Target?

Korn Ferry hasn't posted summer 2027 internships yet, so this table shows what ran last cycle and when we expect each to return.

The program page addresses undergraduate and graduate students together, and we found no separate MBA or PhD internship track in the US postings. Everything appears on the Early Careers board; Korn Ferry's internships in London, Amsterdam, Singapore and Sydney run on their own dates and aren't covered here.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Korn Ferry hasn't published summer 2027 rules. These come from last cycle's US postings, so confirm each one when the new postings appear:

• Class year (last cycle): students "graduating in the Spring of 2027" for the summer 2026 program, meaning one year from graduation. For summer 2027, expect spring 2028 graduates; that's our projection.

• GPA (last cycle): students "tracking towards a 3.2 GPA or above."

• Work authorization (last cycle): Korn Ferry said it couldn't sponsor applicants and that you need full authorization to work in the US permanently.

• Skills (last cycle): "proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint," analytical, "naturally curious," and active in extracurricular activities.

• Majors: no restriction in the postings we read.

• Degree level: the program page names undergraduate and graduate students, and the Professional Search posting accepted either degree.

• Work model (last cycle): hybrid, with interns expected in the office at least three days a week.

Is the 3.2 GPA a Hard Cutoff at Korn Ferry?

The wording was softer in one place and firmer in another. Last cycle's office postings said students "tracking towards a 3.2 GPA or above" are eligible, while the two Chicago track postings listed a minimum 3.2 GPA. Read 3.2 as the line you need to be at or very near. The class-year rule was the stricter screen: the summer 2026 program took spring 2027 graduates only, so students two or more years from graduating weren't eligible. None of this is confirmed for summer 2027 until the postings appear.

What Skills Does Korn Ferry Look For, and How Do You Build Them?

Korn Ferry's intern postings are generalist, and all of this comes from last cycle. Office tools: the posting says you "must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint with the ability to learn new systems." Analysis: it wants students "keen to use your analytical, problem-solving skills to generate creative solutions to client challenges." Research and client work: the task list names market mapping, client presentations and data analysis. In executive search, market mapping means building the list of target companies and candidates for a search. The posting also looks for people who are "naturally curious" and active outside class.

What Is the Korn Ferry Application and Interview Process Like?

Korn Ferry doesn't publish its intern interview format, and we found no first-hand account of the US process. Here is what's documented:

1. Watch the Early Careers board. Korn Ferry's own internships appear only on its tal.net board, and you need an account to apply.

2. Apply to your office's posting. Last cycle there was one posting per office (Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York), each covering executive search and consulting.

3. Mind the track deadlines. Office postings had no deadline last cycle; the two Chicago track postings closed on March 1 and April 30, 2026.

4. Interviews. The format isn't published. Last cycle's posting noted that Korn Ferry "may use AI as part of its recruitment process, but all hiring decisions are made by humans."

5. Offer and after. The same posting said: "If you do well, you may be offered a graduate role for 2027."

Most "Korn Ferry" threads are about its recruiters working for client companies, or about its assessments being used by other employers, and neither describes interning at the firm.

How Do You Stand Out for a Korn Ferry Internship?

Three moves. First, get the calendar right. Most consulting firms recruit in the fall, and Korn Ferry's US postings were first archived in mid-January last cycle. Check the Early Careers board weekly from December so you aren't the applicant who gave up in October. Second, meet the written screens. Last cycle that meant being one year from graduation and tracking toward a 3.2 GPA, with permanent US work authorization. Third, pick a side and show it. The office postings cover executive search and consulting. For search, show research: a market you mapped or a list of companies you built and ranked. For consulting, show an analysis and the presentation that came out of it. The posting also asks for students active outside class, so lead with one commitment you held for more than a semester.
