Start windows run May through June, pay ranges are $21 to $50 an hour by function and degree level.

KLA doesn't publish an opening date or a single deadline. Why You Must Apply the Week Applications Open

Eleven of KLA's twelve mirrored intern requisitions carry an identical sentence: "This job may close before the stated closing date, you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible." What Are the Eligibility Requirements?

Requirements vary by function, but patterns emerge across the 15 JDs we read:

• Enrollment: currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's. Two reqs are graduate-only: Mechatronics/Systems (Master's or Ph.D.) and AI/ML (Master's or Ph.D. candidate). The Associate Test Engineer Trainee track is for Associate's-degree students.

• GPA: only 1 of 15 reqs names a GPA at all, the Mechatronics/Systems Engineering Internship, which is graduate-only and asks for a 3.5 minimum. The other 14 name no GPA.

• Work authorization: all 12 Prosple-mirrored reqs record work rights as US Citizen, US Permanent Resident or US Student Visa. No export-control, ITAR or citizenship language in any of the 15 JDs.

• Experience: "No experience required" on all 12 Prosple reqs. So what KLA asks for instead is hands-on lab, hardware or coding work, not prior internships.

Does KLA Have a GPA Cutoff?

Honest answer: for most KLA intern roles, there isn't one. Fourteen of fifteen requisitions name no GPA. The single exception is the Mechatronics and Systems Engineering internship, which is graduate-only and asks for a 3.5 minimum. What KLA asks for instead, repeatedly, is demonstrable hands-on work: "hands-on lab experience," "experience debugging systems and subsystems with lab tools," "experience building apps in the C++ programming language."

But here's what separates KLA from a pure-software employer: 6 of 15 postings explicitly require hands-on lab, cleanroom or hardware work, and 3 name specific CAD or EDA tools like Zemax, CREO, OrCAD or Cadence. The function you apply to decides the skill stack.

KLA's intern hiring is function-specific and campus-driven:

1. Pick the function, not "the programme." There's no umbrella KLA internship application. You apply to a named requisition on KLA's Workday board: Software Engineer Intern, Opto-Mechanical Intern, System Design Intern (e-Beam), and so on.

2. Get to campus recruiting. Glassdoor records 100% of KLA intern interviews as sourced through campus recruiting. The career fair is your front door.

3. Recruiter or hiring-manager screen. Community-reported: a 45-minute first conversation with the hiring manager, focused on your resume and past projects.

4. Technical round. Glassdoor reports data-structures-and-algorithms questions and class-based system design. For some roles, ML fundamentals (PCA, kernel methods). One mechanical internship interview ran 90 minutes.

5. Decision. Highly variable: one candidate got an offer roughly two weeks after the interview, while another's application sat under review for two months.

So there's no evidence of a standardized online assessment for US intern roles. Expect a live technical conversation, not a HackerRank screen.

How Do You Stand Out on a Function-Specific Board?

Four moves. First, apply the week your function's req posts.
